I had stopped by to grab some food and drinks with my coworkers and it was honestly such a fun experience as the menu was unique and the drinks were really refreshing/paired well with the food. The service was laid-back, which allowed us to enjoy each other's company and there's easy access to parking in the nearby streets. since we also stopped by at a fairly early time during the day, it wasn't as busy, but towards the end of our visit it did get busier. ambiance was relax and quite quaint.
We recently discovered this place and were blown away. So much better than the usual Mexican food in the Bay Area. Most places are either really generic or very expensive and out of reach. This is right in the sweet spot. Well priced for the portions and value. Insanely tasty - about as good as Mexico. We really enjoyed the birria, cochinita, ceviche, and guacamole. Recommend you get family style so everyone can try. Definitely will be back!
The carne asada tacos and chips and guacamole were fantastic! Service was quick and staff were attentive and friendly.
Flavorful, authentic, charming and clean beautiful restaurant. The staff knows the menu well and very courteous. Enjoyed the food and the drinks equally
Love this place for contemporary Mexican food Friendly staff, good vibe and outdoor seating when the weather obliges. Cocktails are extensive, high quality and refreshed on a regular basis.
An Absolute Must! The tacos, drinks, hell the whole menu is worth coming back for!
GREAT place and GREAT food! Small, casual place where we sat outside in front. Definitely coming back because there were too many good things on the menu. Loved the presentation as well, between the cool plates and clay pots for drinks. The fried avocado was especially amazing!
Excellent Mexican cocktail and food establishment in downtown Palo Alto. Recently opened. We were impressed by the high quality of the cocktails and food, the uniqueness in the menu items, and the excellent customer service that knew "everything" about the menu. Prices can be a little steep, but that's California. I would compare this place to Milagros in Redwood City, but this San Augus has much better drinks and food. If you're looking for a high quality restaurant experience and amazing craft cocktails, I highly recommend this place. Details to follow: [The Drinks] Starting with the best part, the drinks were excellent here. They have a wide variety of cocktails I have never tried anywhere else. Most of them are named after sayings or phrases in Spanish. They don't taste like they have a bunch of fillers and artificial flavors. The drinks tasted real with quality ingredients and careful thought into the mix. We tried about 5 and couldn't decide which one was our favorite. Could use just a tad more alcohol but they were balanced, and we will absolutely be returning just to get drinks one day. [The Food] We were really impressed by the food too. The presentation of the food and the quality was what we expected given the price. We got Quesabarria tacos which were excellent. They have a variety of different offerings which are well described and seems to be high quality. We were absolutely impressed. [The Location] The restaurant is located near University Ave in downtown Palo Alto. It's in a nice spot near Caltrain, off the beaten path so there's plenty of parking. It's safe, well lit, and has outdoor seating! The restaurant looks super clean and well maintained!
A vibrant and lively restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. The food was exceptional. The gorditas were perfectly soft on the inside and crispy on the outside and the Chicharron filling was crisp and delicious. The drinks were refreshing with beautiful presentation. Service was also impecable. Our server was very attentive and our food came out quite quickly after we ordered. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a great spot for dinner and drinks in Palo Alto.
Amazing food and cocktail program! This place is a gem, the food is what you would find at a restaurant in Mexico City and with Oaxacan influences. The cocktails were exceptional, I encourage you all to come here with an open mind and try all of the dishes you will not be disappointed.

The drinks and food were absolutely delicious but most importantly service was on point. They initially forgot one of our drinks but then Benny went above and beyond to fix it for us. The service for the rest of the evening was very attentive and stellar. Came for the food and drinks, stayed for the service. Definitely recommend this place.
This is not you regular mexican eatery but rather a unique concept where street foods are elvated with rigyht portion sizes. We ordered a steak plate to share andnthere were enough food for 2 people. The interiors feel very organized and would definitely recommend.
I really liked their tacos! They may not be the most authentic, but the taste was great and it was really fresh. Highly recommend their al pastor, fish, and shrimp taco. The tacos were definitely on the pricier side at $14 for 2 tacos. I was not a big fan of their gorditas de chicharron. The outside fritter was quite dry and the dish lacked flavor. Even the sauce it came with was not that good. Their drinks were also pretty good, I like that they gave a piece of watermelon for their watermelon margarita.
We went in as a group of 8 on Friday and sat outside (reservation via OpenTable). The seats felt kind of uncomfortable since they barely had any cushion. The drinks looked great and tasted even better, and all of us liked what they ordered. I tried the Tamarind drink and a Margarita, and it both were pretty refreshing. The tortilla chips came with a tasty green drip. I ordered Al Pastor Tacos and a mushroom truffle Quesadilla. The Tacos were loaded, and although I expected the Al Pastor to be crispier, it still tasted good. The Quesadilla however tasted a bit bland for my taste and I wish that it had more flavor. There was some confusion with our order as they brought an extra cheese Quesadilla which we didn't order. Also, we had to ask for water about 3-4 times over a 45 min period before someone brought it out. The overall experience was nice.
Update 2: Had the tlayuda today. The tortilla was really thin and crispy, thinner than I expected, but the overall dish was large and filling. Unfortunately the pastor was a bit burnt. The dish also tasted a bit bland so I asked for extra salsa, which is chargeable. The viene viene cocktail was strong but I couldn’t really taste the ginger or lemongrass. Update: I did come back to try the huarache with steak! It was pretty good. All in all, a good place to get Mexican in Palo Alto. One of the few restaurants I actually enjoyed. Good Gorditas. Crispy, with lots of fillings. Salsa was a little spicy and overall the Gordita was not salty enough for me. Luckily I ordered a side of guacamole which was a little salty so it balanced out. Chips and salsa cost $7 so I skipped that 🙁 Horchata was pricey at $9. Tasted ok. Churros were nice and crispy but a little dense. Sauce was ok. I was craving chocolate. Overall pretty good. I’d eat here again if I was craving Mexican in Palo Alto. Next time I might try the huaraches
Came here with a group of 12 - it was nice that they could accommodate all of us and even had a table set up when we arrived! Good: - Heard about the famous birria tacos so I finally got some - really good and the dipping method is super unique - I liked the tortilla chips here since they were very crunchy and the guac was good and well-seasoned too - Cool vibe - good for a big group Bad: - Small portion sizes for the food - A little noisy so it's hard to hear people without yelling Overall enjoyed the experience but also felt like wouldn't come again
Don’t feel like cooking on a Sunday? Head on down to this place for a nice cocktail (4 stars), ceviche tostadas (4 stars), beef tongue tacos (5 stars), carnitas tacos (3 stars, because I missed the crispiness). The service was accommodating and friendly — not pressuring us to order quickly, turning on the heat lamp outside to buffer the windy cooler temperatures, coming back to check up on us and provide water carafe and glasses when we asked for some water. We ended with the churros (3 stars) because they were slightly undercooked inside but came with a nice tequila sauce.

Wonderful servers! Excellent service and location. Hard to find parking but that's common in Palo Alto. Food is "ok" with plenty of room for improvement: Salsas were flavorless, small tortillas, and "diet size" dishes for the prize or regular size. Disappointing tacos. But wonderful servers, very welcoming atmosphere.
Fish tacos were just alright. Quesabirria was delicious! Portions were small for the price, though.
Good location, close to Caltrain and other downtown shops, restaurants. Plenty of outdoor seating with and without umbrellas. Service was ok, food was decent but flavor was lacking and flat for everything I tried. Steak was unevenly cooked from blue in some areas to mid in others. I do not think I would go back.

This place has been good in the past but tonight when I came in at 5:45 and asked for a table of 2, the hostess immediately asked if I had a reservation. I was confused because the place was completely empty and it was 5:45 on a weekday. The hostess tried to put me and my friend at the counter when the place was mostly empty and there were tons of empty tables. When I asked if we can have a table we gave me a high top but refused to give the lower more comfortable tables "because they were reserved". I decided to talk her word for it but then as my friend and I ate, the lower tables remained empty and it became clear they weren't reserved. Then, by 6:30 other people started sitting at them who I could tell did not have a reservation. So it then became clear that this whole thing was a lie on the hostesses part. I have lower back pain from an injury a few years ago and it's not comfortable for me to sit on hard high top stools with no back. When my friend and I left I asked her why did she make it up that those tables are reserved and refused to seat us there when they were empty the whole time. She completely gaslighted me saying they were not empty; when I insisted yes they were as I was sitting right here, she pivoted to saying Well the system said they werent open. So not only was she able to tell me why she lied about this, her answer kept changing. I really hope the owner sees this review. If you do can you get rid of this woman? What a terrible experience
