Very comfortable atmosphere, no wait to be seated ,huge menu with amazing selections and specials. Food was delivered to the table suprisingly fast and prepared just as ordered. Large portions and delicious. Our server was in training and did a terrific job. Very polite and attentive.
We had an absolutely fantastic experience at the Putnam Diner. We arrived with a group of over 30 people on short notice (because the Carriage House couldn’t accommodate us), and they handled us like champs. The staff was incredibly friendly and made sure everyone felt welcome. I really wish I could remember our waiter’s name. I think it was either Donato P. The food came out fast—which was crucial for us—and it was delicious. My group had burgers, chicken, gyro, French onion soup, spaghetti, salads, cheesesteaks, fries and more. Everyone enjoyed their meals. It’s rare to find a place that can handle a crowd that size without compromising on quality or service. They put us in our own area. Plus, the bathrooms were clean! Thanks to the quick service, we finished on time and made our tour without any stress. Highly recommend! I would give more stars if I could. They would definitely be our first choice in the future.
Yesterday a group of about 30 of us came into this diner (The Putnam Diner) after a cafe across the street could not accommodate us. You readily welcomed us and even gave us a room so we all stayed together as we dined. Donato was our server. He was superb! I’ve never seen a server like Donato. We were running behind our schedule for an appointment. But remarkably we were all served in record time. Donato just kept coming with about 6 orders at a time. It was amazing to watch. Also my complements to the chef/chefs. The orders came out quickly and everyone loved what they received. The service was excellent and unforgettable.
Lots on the walls to spark conversation. Room in the bar area has its own tables you could potentially reserve a room. Food was great, A whole bus, no complaints. Hot dog and fries was great deal. Hot dog chili had beans in it tho, for a southerner that was a surprise, but as a bean chili lover I liked it. I just ate the beans first, so it was like two meals really. They had a Full bar if that's your thing.
It's been years since I've been here. Great location for that day and delicious food and service. Definitely made me feel like I was at home.
We had our first experience at Putnam Diner today and it won’t be our last! One of those hit home diners that doesn’t leave you disappointed. Great food, endless food options, and great service. We especially appreciated our server, Peter! So friendly, highly recommend this sweet spot.
Growing up in NY has its benefits and one of them is eating at diners. New York features the best diners in the country... No lie. So my mom, wifey, son, daughter and son in law decided to find a good restaurant for lunch. Undecided and driving around my mom reminded me of a diner we frequently drive by. I said, "ok, let's check it out!" We were greeted by Aileen at the door and seated all together in an extra large booth. The menus given looked like a NY Times best selling novel, packed with all kinds of choices. After a while, I decided to go with a Cajun Burger with cheddar cheese and fries. The others choose chicken parmesan sandwich, chicken wings, chicken breast salad and other goodies I can't remember. Turned out everything was good and no one complained about their meals. A good sign. The service provided was 5 star ⭐ and the price was nothing outrageous for 6 people chowing down. We were coaxed into ordering desserts and they were a little bland for me. Homemade though if that helps. Like I said earlier, NY diners can be a man's best friend and in this case when everyone is undecided as to what to eat, hit a NY diner. You can't go wrong. Bon Appetit.
My wife and I had a fantastic brunch here. We both enjoyed the Californian Burger with a fried egg, and it was absolutely delicious. The coffee was top-notch, and the prices were reasonable. There was plenty of parking, and the menu had a great variety. The restaurant's beautiful fish pond added a charming touch.
I can't say enough about the service here. We were with our 95 year old grandmother, and from the time we entered till we left, everyone was attentive and accommodating. Our waitress, Mariah R. takes great pride in her job. As well as the host and cashier, couldn't get his name, but an A+ staff member. Even the young bus boy, who's probably a relative, acted like he wanted to be there. It's a festive place and they love Legos. 😆
On a whim tried this diner as I have driven by previously without stopping in. Don’t be deceived by the outside, the inside is quaint and clean. It could probably get a sprucing up, but honestly there is something really charming about it. Steve our waiter was really attentive without being annoying. He made sure our food didn’t come right on top of the apps. The food was good and the prices were reasonable. The potato skins were deep fried then broiled to melt the cheese. This is my favorite way! The Turkey wasn’t slimy and the tuna fish salad was fresh and not suspect. I am adding this place to my list when I am out this direction!
I stopped in for a quick lunch after bit of skiing at Thunder Ridge. We were sat quickly, our server Dino was running around addressing everyone's needs, and our food came out quickly. I noticed everyone who was there had their food very quickly. Next time I'm in the area I will be stopping here again.
I go here whenever I’m back home(I moved and still consider Connecticut my home) this was the first time it was a bit of a rough visit, it was new years so it was packed beyond belief and we had to wait awhile for our table and to get our food, but again it was new years so that makes sense, the service was great especially for how packed it was and the food was as always very good, I always get the burger and the burgers here are very consistently good. The restaurant also have a pretty cool look to it.
This is a classic diner with great service and atmosphere. However, the food can at times not be great. I ordered pancakes, scrambled eggs and sausage links. The pancakes were a bit overcooked and had a burnt taste. I'll still keep eating here, though as its convenient, reasonably priced, and food is more often than not, decent.
This is your typical diner. They have a variety of food options. Our table of 8 received good service, and we all enjoyed our food. This is diner food- so as long as you don’t have high and unreasonable expectations, you should have a good experience too. We were a bit surprised on the prices though. The prices are definitely higher than the average diner, with the average plate being between $15-$20.
A medley of decorations in mid-November, from Halloween, to Thanksgiving to Christmas simultaneously. Large aquarium with tropical fish by the entrance. Wide selection of foodstuffs from the menu, including standards of Irish, Greek, Mexican and American fare. Clean bathroom and vestibule includes vending machines and a gumballer. Outside is a fountain and pool with decoy fish. Parking along two sides of the diner. Friendly waitstaff and nice desserts.
A group of us stopped here for a meet & greet. Dinner was plentiful & service was good as I only noticed one waitress. My chicken marsala was good & could have been great except that it wasn’t very hot and maybe s little warmer than room temperature temperature. One of the guests mentioned his potatoes were cold (new ones were perfect & I thought my chicken marsala was good but could have been hotter in temperature (I like food piping hot)). Would be five stars except for food temperatures.
Nice diner with excellent service. I had a burger and fries. Like most diners, the burger was a frozen patty, not fresh ground beef. It didn’t taste good and made my stomach upset unfortunately. My aunt had chicken parm with linguini. My son ordered the shrimp and fries. They enjoyed their meals. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. Our host was friendly and sat us down immediately when we came in. I would come again, just wouldn’t order the burger.
Place is nice and clean however, The service could have been a lot better. We waited over an hour for our food. I was disappointed with the food, ordered a grilled Caesar wrap and found the grilled chicken burn and very little dressing in the wrap Pancakes were cold by the time they came out.
Awful in every way except service. Utensils were dirty, and fork was bent. First glass of wine the glass was do filthy, it had something floating in it and the waitress was kind and said it was cork. Replaced it. The food was not good, my salad was the white heart of a lettuce with 2 sprigs of green. Pasta dish was the worst yet. Lady was there hacking up a lung, literally the entire time like a cat with a fur ball. Not the reataurants fault of course but that was the scene. This was a last minute decision to give it a try, I should have gone hungry. Could have been a bad night for the place but 😬I won't dare try again, unfortunately.
Went to pick up two salads for dinner. Got their , sweet older man behind the counter confirmed one salad that wasn’t any of the two we ordered , asked him to make the second salad so I can take my food and leave , I didn’t worry about the wrong salad cause I saw they were busy. Man behind the counter asked the chef to make it and the chef seemed really bothered to make a salad with a special request of steak instead of chicken . The chef and the sweet old man behind the counter went back and fourth in front of everyone , chef seemingly not wanting to cooperate or make the salad at all . Got my salads and left. I started eating my salad (which was the one that was supposed to have no meat at all because I am a vegetarian ) and I run into an extremely odd and salty taste , so salty it burned my tongue. When I looked at my food there was a piece of grey and blackish meat covered in some kind of hair. Tasted like it came out of the garbage.
We stopped in to pick up take out breakfast. There was only one person tending to the tables. He should have said to us how long things would really take. But he didn't. As he was going back into the kitchen he said I'll be back in a second. We know what that means. When he returned about three or four minutes later he said I'll be with you in a minute. We decided to leave. Honesty is the best policy
