Today I just stumbled upon the Greenhouse Penryn and could not be more pleased! The redesign and decorating is superb...very bright and welcoming. The food is absolutely delicious- very fresh and perfect prepared. The service is incredible! I had Shannon as my server and she was amazing. Very personable, gave great suggestions for food and drink (the champagne loose leaf tea is delicious & the avocado toast with bacon added was also delicious) and even helped me move with my tea to a comfy sofa where it was a little more quiet and relaxing. I am so glad to have found my new favorite restaurant! Thank you for a wonderful dining experience!
Food is always very good, presented very nicely. We waiting 45 minutes to get seated as it was fairly busy. However when we did get seated, we still waiting 15 minutes for the server to come and get our drink & food order. It took 40 minutes to get our food order. I would highly recommend to get a reservation before arriving.
We swung by to explore this restaurant, having wisely reserved our spot in advance to avoid the dreaded wait. Yet, as we arrived, we noticed that others were facing a waiting time of 20 to 30 minutes, with a few patrons opting to leave rather than linger. Once seated, we found ourselves waiting patiently for 20 minutes before someone greeted us with water. However, the food was well worth the anticipation, arriving just 15 minutes after we placed our order. It was fresh, deliciously balanced, and beautifully presented—definitely a feast for the senses! I can wholeheartedly recommend this gem. Just a heads-up: if you’re immersing yourself in the local dining culture, be prepared to savor your meal leisurely, as a full dining experience can take anywhere from an hour and a half to two hours.
We were very impressed with the food, menu selection and service! Take advantage of the unique Eastern European menu items as you won't be disappointed. The dumpling offerings are wonderful! Can't wait to come back and try something else. The service was also amazing, as we were checked in on several times to ensure we were ok or needing anything. Awesome teamwork by the staff. Looking forward to returning with family and friends.
The Greenhouse Café is a wonderful spot! The atmosphere feels fresh and inviting, and the menu has a great variety. I especially enjoyed the Russian food, it wad absolutely delicious, full of flavor and beautifully prepared. The staff was friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Well they did a really good job on the remodel, the place looks nice and fresh. I had a breakfast toast the eggs were fluffy and the potatoes were cooked right. The salad added a much-needed green to the meal. Look forward to coming back and trying the dumplings on the Eastern portion of the menu. looks to be something new and exciting
The Greenhouse Peryn was a great experience! Fantastic food and the decor is beautiful! We went by during the soft opening and they let us in even without a reservation. We stopped by out of the blue and got lucky. Shannon was lovely to talk to and very sincere. We look forward to going back soon and spreading the word!! Had another great experience here! Food and service was amazing! Beautiful presentation!
This morning, we celebrated March 8th with the girls, and it was absolutely magical! The atmosphere was cozy, the service top-notch, and the food an absolute delight. Breakfast was delicious, everything fresh and beautifully presented. The staff was very attentive and made us feel truly special – a big thank you for that! We started our day in a wonderful mood, largely thanks to this place. We will definitely be coming back
My husband and I visited The Greenhouse Restaurant in Penryn on January 3, 2025, located in the former Ground Cow location. We were a walk-in with no reservation and were seated right away. The updated ambiance is delightful—bright, spacious, and adorned with an abundance of potted plants that perfectly complement their greenhouse theme. The staff was warm, professional, and attentive, ensuring our dining experience was seamless. The menu features classic American cuisine with flavorful influences from other regions. Pricing was very reasonable, and the quality of the food was exceptional—everything was fresh and beautifully prepared. I enjoyed the Salmon Eggs Benedict, while my husband tried the Ground Beef Crepes. Both dishes were accompanied by a crisp side salad and perfectly seasoned potatoes. The Greenhouse is a fantastic addition to the area, offering a welcoming atmosphere and delicious meals. We will certainly be returning!
This place is amazing! A fresh salad with all the classic breakfast items. My over medium eggs were exactly just that! Over medium! And the potatoes seasoned perfectly. Fresh lemon to squeeze over the salad was perfect. Fresh squeezed orange juice and the coffee was delicious. This place was a nice surprise!! I came here with a party of 4, we were seated right away and served flat water. The atmosphere is beautiful with lots of plants. I ordered "the classic" breakfast, and at only $15 it's worth every penny
Had family brunch yesterday and loved the food, wait staff, hostess and atmosphere. Food was delicious with a good range of options, but not too much. The environment is warm and inviting and full of beautiful plants and light. My favorite dishes are the California Benedict, Nutella French Toast, and Syrniki Ricotta Pancakes. Yummy! A must try.
Visited our favorite brunch spot, Greenhouse Penryn, last Sunday with my daughter and had another fantastic experience. I tried the new Swiss mushroom burger : juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. My daughter, who usually goes for the Nutella French toast, switched things up and tried the lemon blueberry version and she loved it! She didn’t even offer me a bite, so I think she’s found her new favorite. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming as always. Highly recommend this place if you're in the area and craving delicious food in a relaxed setting.
Beautiful interior and great atmosphere. The food exceeded expectations — flavorful and perfectly presented — though a bit on the pricey side. Still, worth a visit for the experience.
If you’re looking for the perfect place to host your next event, Greenhouse Penryn is it! I hosted my 33rd birthday there a few weeks ago, and it truly exceeded my expectations. From the venue and the food to the incredible service, everything was amazing. Peter, the owner, is fantastic, and Kimber, the event coordinator, went above and beyond to make my day extra special. She was in constant communication from start to finish, and her attention to detail was impeccable. One of my favorite touches was the beautiful custom menus she created for me. Our waitress, Shannon, was attentive and even went out of her way to make my sister a fruit smoothie (which wasn’t on the menu) because she couldn’t eat solid food after having oral surgery a few days prior. I can’t say enough wonderful things about Greenhouse, and I’m confident you’ll have an unforgettable event and experience here! 🤍

My husband and I just learned of this place, so we went for brunch today and we were not disappointed! I chose the white mocha and the French toast with blueberries and lemon curd - no regrets. It was SO good. My husband chose a dark chocolate cortado and the baked creamy chicken crepe - he was very impressed (despite his lack of love for mushrooms). The atmosphere was lovely, food was delicious, and our server was great. Looking forward to returning and trying other items - everything on the menu sounded so delicious.
I took a friend here for her birthday breakfast and everything was perfect. The place is bright and beautiful and we were welcomed and seated right away. Our server was Shannon who was a complete delight. She obviously enjoys her work and strives to please whenever possible. We started with a cappuccino and latte, which was made to perfection by their barista Melissa. My friend ordered the Scrambled Avo Toast which comes with a side of potatoes and a small salad; and I had the Sweet Cheese Crepe with Berry Compote, and a side of thick sliced bacon. Everything was done to perfection. And to top all of that off, Shannon brought my friend a slice of Honey Cake to add to her birthday celebration. This was my friend’s third time here, and my first, and we’ll both be back again … and again … and again.
A beautiful venue with delicious food! The plants are beautiful and it was easy for my disabled family member to navigate around the restaurant. I also very much appreciated that they have gluten free toast and milk alternatives for hot chocolate. The staff were all so kind and felt like it was a great value!
What a FABULOUS experience! We had read to make reservations, but we didn’t. The very nice hostess let us know it would be a 30 to 45 minute wait, and asked if we’d like to wait there or give her our number and she’d call us. We waited there in very comfortable chairs by a large cozy fireplace (the entire restaurant was BEAUTIFUL). They actually came and got us after only 20 minutes! My Precious Husband, who’s in a large power wheelchair, said the table was the most comfortable one he’s ever sat at! It was a lovely large wooden slab table, by a huge window. The window ledge made a perfect purse spot! Brooke was our server, and she was wonderful… knowledgeable, attentive (but not annoying so) and friendly, and we immediately ordered 3 Dark Chocolate Oat Milk Hot Chocolates. We thoroughly enjoyed those while taking a quick peek at the menu. My husband and I are vegetarian, our daughter is gluten and dairy free, and there were plenty of choices for all of us! Once ordered, the food arrived in a reasonable amount of time and was BEAUTIFUL to look at! Then, when we tasted it, the morning was complete! Yummy! Our daughter, who got The Classic Scramble, typically has ketchup on her eggs and potatoes, but not this time! My husband and I both got the Avocado Toast! The potatoes alone are worth coming back for!!! … a little crunchy on the outside, buttery soft on the inside and just the right amount of garlic! We also thought the price was very reasonable for the service, amount of yummy food and the lovely atmosphere! There wasn’t one thing that could have made it a better experience. We will definitely be going back soon!!! We’re excited to go back when the weather gets warmer, as they have a great looking patio area!
Wonderfull place to eat. Love the atmosphere. Service was very good. The food was great.
Lovely experience at this location Food was fresh and delicious Service amazing Atmosphere lovely and vibrant Love this place!
The smash burger and chicken sandwich were delicious, and the coffee was exceptional—possibly the best we’ve had in this area. The restaurant itself is beautifully designed with a great vibe that makes you want to stay a while. Our server Shannon was fantastic, offering thoughtful recommendations and taking great care of us. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for amazing food and relaxing atmosphere.
At a time when most restaurants are cutting quality corners yet raising prices, here comes Greenhouse where the owner clearly spared no expense to make a beautiful space filled with high quality, delicious food. Truly the best brunch I’ve had in years. Can’t wait to keep going and going until I make my way through the menu.
The chicken sandwich, the blueberry lemon pancakes, the scramble avocado toast were delicious. The server was handling everything that everyone was throwing at her with poise. Even though the group next to us were being quite obnoxious. The owner is very personable and accommodating. Even when there were kids being unruly, the whole staff portrayed themselves with grace and an upstanding attitude!
Absolutely enjoyed the time at this new location. Food, service, atmosphere, everything was top notch. Brooke was a delight, very professional and performed her task in a timely manner. If you are in the area, you can't miss this place and the food. Everything about this experience will make your day.
Greenhouse is a gem that truly impresses with its mouthwatering dishes and cozy atmosphere. Every dish on the menu is amazing!! The attentive staff adds to the experience, providing excellent service that makes you feel welcome. If you're looking for a place to satisfy your cravings, Greenhouse is definitely worth a visit!
Our first time there, and we were truly impressed! Such a cozy, friendly environment and the best French toast (blueberry lemon curd) I've ever had. Our server, Shannon, was absolutely amazing. We'll definitely be back for more deliciousness! Oh, if you're looking for a rental space/venue for an event, check out this beautiful hidden gem. K & E
Food was excellent. I had an eastern European dish. New to me. Kashanka I think was the name. My new fav. Delicious.
Came there with my daughter and granddaughters for a late lunch after their riding lessons near by. It was 2:00 pm on a Saturday and it was very quiet. The building is stunning. I wasn’t aware that they served meals each day. I thought it was only an event center for larger parties. The food is delicious and the staff very friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back!
Wow! Greenhouse Penryn is amazing! The decor and atmosphere are really nice, and the fountain outside is beautiful and relaxing. The outdoor area is lovely, and we can't wait to eat there in the spring. We were lucky to get a last-minute reservation for the soft opening. We enjoyed time by the big fireplace while waiting for a table. The lattes are great and my latte had a cute bear design too😋. The food is fresh and tasty, and the cooks are very skilled. They even made gluten-free French toast for my friend, which she said was the best she ever had. I had the cilantro lime avocado toast with potatoes, and it was delicious. Our server Shannon was attentive and kind, especially with my friend's food allergy. We had a great experience and can't wait to go back this week!
My family and I are huge brunch fans, so we were excited to try the newly opened Greenhouse Cafe in Penryn—and it did not disappoint! From the moment we walked in, we were charmed by the beautiful and relaxing decor that creates such a welcoming atmosphere. The food was incredible, with the smash burger and our favorite creamy chicken crepe standing out as highlights. Both dishes were delicious and expertly prepared. The customer service was top-notch, especially from Shannon, who was incredibly accommodating and made us feel right at home. We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, who took our order. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and even offered great suggestions for future visits. We’ll definitely be returning to Greenhouse Cafe in Penryn for more fantastic food and wonderful service!
We had a great dining experience!! Our server was Shannon. She was very sweet and provided excellent service! We will definitely be back. We had the breakfast sandwich, California Benedict, and chicken dumplings. Come check them out!!
Just had lunch with my family, what a great experience! Staff was friendly and attentive, the food was amazing! Couple of us had the smash burger, one of the best burgers ever. Wife had the beet salad, delicious. Daughter had the French toast, very good. Will be back!
Spot on from start to finish. Excellent job on beautifying the inside. Kind, pleasant employees. Delicious eggs Benedict and avocado toast. Food was delivered wicked fast and hot!! I’m excited to have found my new breakfast place.
Had such a lovely lunch here! My husband and I got the smash burger and the chicken sandwich, both were amazing! And not to mention the coffee is fantastic, they use real chocolate in the mochas which makes all the difference. Atmosphere is cozy yet bright. Highly recommended and will be back soon!
Wow. What you are doing here is really special. I ordered the caprese avocado toast and a pistachio latte to go. Everything was beautifully crafted and delicately placed. Sometimes you come across something so wonderful that it makes you involuntarily smile. This is it. I cannot wait to come here and share this memorable experience with my family. Thank you for brightening my day.
The food was delicious!! The mocha coffee is made with real chocolate chips, it was so good. We had the French toast and the breakfast sandwich. Highly recommend this restaurant. The decor is clean and fresh. The servers were very friendly. Enjoyable experience. We will definitely be back.
Came for lunch with my wife on soft opening. Food is amazing. We ordered dumplings with salted cheese, ricotta pancakes (syrniki) and salmon Benedict. 10/10. Service was great, attentive but not too much. Greenhouse has a grand opening tomorrow, if you are looking for a great place for a breakfast, lunch or event - that’s the spot. Beautiful interior, delicious food and great service. Good luck!
I attended a baby shower at Greenhouse Penryn yesterday. What a great venue! It is a beautiful space with very accommodating staff. The food was great with a lot of choices. It is a great addition to our community.
This is a nice European breakfast spot. They also have a small bakery selection and have walk-in coffee and tea options. The dining room area can be a little loud. The food was excellent and they had many nods to classic Ukrainian flavors. There are plenty of rich and savory options.
Penryn Greenhouse is something special. I’ve seen this place through just about every transition over the years, and I truly believe it’s finally found the right fit. Whether you're making a quick stop on your drive to or from Tahoe, or just looking to break out of your usual routine, it’s absolutely worth a visit.
First time trying Greenhouse in Penryn and I was absolutely blown away . Everything I ordered was incredibly delicious. I will say this was the best breakfast I’ve had in a very long time. My group and I had a wonderful time and the staff was amazing to us . Will definitely be coming back as soon as possible.
We visited for brunch as a family of four. The wait time was about 15 minutes. The food was delicious — we ordered potato dumplings, two kinds of Eggs Benedict, cheese blintzes, and drinks. The atmosphere is wonderful and very kid-friendly — they even brought our younger daughter crayons and a coloring sheet (last time it was a book!). Service was great, and the food came out quickly. The tables were clean and the dining area felt very pleasant. Highly recommend!
Very tasty and love the atmosphere. The quality of the food is comparable to some good restaurant in a big city (e.g., Paris). The menu is great. We wanted to try everything. But the service is very slow. We waited for 30-40 mins to get seated (not their fault, the place is popular). Then we waited for 1h for our food. We were not disappointed, but some people may find it too long. They have just opened. I think the waiting time will be better in a few months. Anyway, the food is great. Highly recommend.
Great food and beautiful atmosphere! Everything about this restaurant is excellent—the food is absolutely delicious, the space is cozy yet spacious, and the view is stunning. It’s a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. The only downside is the long wait time, especially since they don’t take reservations. But honestly, it’s worth the wait. Highly recommend!
My first visit was today--2-05-26. Very impressive--excellent avacado toast--- delicious hot chocolate. Excellent service--very clean. The potatoes were fantastic.
We had our graduation brunch here with my classmates, and we’re so happy we chose this place! The atmosphere was beautiful, the staff was friendly and welcoming, and the food was absolutely delicious. A special thank you to our waitress who kindly agreed to take a photo of us — we really appreciated it. Highly recommend!
The farmhouse ambiance in the banquet hall is absolutely stunning, with a massive fireplace, rustic decor, and warm lighting that sets the perfect tone for any gathering. The location in Loomis adds to the charm, surrounded by open space, plenty of parking, and that relaxed countryside feel that makes you want to linger a little longer. The food was excellent, especially the roast and fresh, tender chicken, both perfectly seasoned and served hot. Even the little touches, like the classic glass Coke bottles, made the experience feel authentic and thoughtful. Our group was admittedly very loud, but the setting handled the energy well, and it turned into a fun, memorable evening. Service interaction was minimal, and it did take quite a while for staff to locate a few extra chairs, but once settled, everything ran smoothly. Overall, this venue delivers beautiful ambiance, quality food, and a genuine country elegance that makes it an ideal spot for celebrations, receptions, and big family gatherings. A true hidden gem in Loomis that deserves every bit of its five stars.
Wow wow wow!!! Syrniky detected! 🤩 If you don’t know what syrniki are, I both feel sorry for you and envy you at the same time. It’s like never having watched Game of Thrones simply because you didn’t know about it—only to now discover it for the first time. Once you try it, you won’t be able to stop. 😜 And then there are crepes with meat, borscht, varenyky, pelmeni, and, of course, the legendary desserts—Medovik and Napoleon. These are all beloved dishes from Eastern Europe—so how would you know about them? Now, about the interior—it’s truly impressive! I don’t usually celebrate my birthday, but if I did, this would be the place I’d want to do it. 🥳 I sincerely wish the owner success and growth, and I’m grateful that this place exists. 🔥🔥🔥 God bless America 🙏🇺🇸 and the immigrants who make it even better!
Many thanks to Davyd (our outstanding host) and Shannon (our wonderful server) for such a great dining experience! The food was delicious and the service from start to finish was exceptional. We were there for brunch and had a hard time deciding what to get. I opted for the chicken crepe, which was so tasty; my significant other had the borscht and thoroughly enjoyed every drop. We’re already looking forward to our next visit, which will be sooner than later!
I had a very good experience at this establishment. Me and family were seated reasonably quickly by the host who was very friendly. The service was very very good. Our server the tall blonde older woman was very kind and came with food in reasonable manner for how busy it was. Food was very delicious and staff was friendly and helpful. The server was kind and treated us with honey cake for birthday. Planning on coming back to this establishment. Had a very good time.
First time here for lunch. Plenty of parking, relaxing atmosphere inside with big windows and beautiful plants. The food was fresh and delicious. I enjoyed the mango, avocado salad with chicken. Nice portion size and flavor was bright and refreshing. Very friendly and engaging staff. I will return to enjoy a morning espresso on their outdoor patio.
Had a fantastic experience! The service was top-notch — especially thanks to Autumn, who was friendly and welcoming. The food was high quality with fresh ingredients you can really taste. The atmosphere was so lovely and calming, with plants everywhere adding a nice natural touch. The restaurant was spotless, easy to get to, and conveniently close to home. Highly recommend!

This place is exceptional! I've been twice, this last time I only had a cappuccino which was very good, but the first time I had the Avocado Scramble Toast. It was amazing! I didn't know avocado toast could be that good. The potatoes were just right and the salad was a perfect addition. Both times I went with a group of friends and everyone loved everything they ordered. Also, it's beautiful inside. Very clean with lovely plants hanging all around.
The smash burger has tied with 571 stack burger, which is the best burger I've ever tasted. So the food is 5 star, everything from the burger to the Benedict to the French toast was superb. The service was a little slower than desired. But the wait was well worth it.

Food was amazing! I didn’t have any expectations about the food and thought its gonna be the usual brunch staples. Was surprised how good the hollandaise sauce in the Eggs Benedict which is always a key for me. Salad was so fresh, skillet potatoes were tasty although it would be better if it was a little crispy on the outside. Me and my friends shared the French Toast for dessert and the nutella in it isn’t so sweet which is my preference too! Our waitress Sadie was so sweet and accommodating. A young lady served the food to our table and she wasn’t as friendly though. You get in the building to a huge ballroom with just 4 long tables, I’m guessing its for big parties. The way that its too big makes it a not so intimate venue and space could be utilized better. To the right side of the restaurant is another room for smaller parties and it has a good brunch atmosphere. Would love to come back and bring my family to try more dishes! Might be a little pricey for the serving size but I personally didn’t mind because my experience was good with the food and our waitress.
Loved the atmosphere here—cozy yet spacious, with plenty of greenery that makes it feel fresh and inviting. It’s a great spot to relax and have a good lunch. The food was delicious and coffee art was top notch, but the service was underwhelming. We waited longer than expected for our food, and a bit more attention to detail would go a long way. They brought ice in our water when we asked for none, added an extra shot to my latte without me asking, and didn’t offer any sauces with the fries. When we requested extra cream for the coffee, they brought it but didn’t include a spoon. These aren’t deal-breakers, but small things like this can elevate the experience. Otherwise, this place would easily be a five-star spot. We’ll be back and hope to see those little improvements! ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Incredible! Incredible does not even begin to describe our experience. This place is absolutely gorgeous! We came to Greenhouse Penryn this weekend for the first time. The staff is welcoming and cheerful. The host welcomed us and as we were escorted to the dining room we saw a delicious dessert case and stopped to admire it. Shan (a server) noticed us and welcomed us with a big smile. The barista Angel or Angela also greeted us :) while she was making drinks. Shan told us about all the delicious house made pastries and desserts. She made great recommendations. We continued to be seated and only waited about a minute or two until our server greeted us, which happened to also be Shan lol. She gave great menu recommendations just like the desserts and answered all our questions. Our food came out in a timely manner, hot and delicious! This place has beautiful scenery, amazing staff & Quality service. The food was delicious and plated beautifully! Greenhouse Penryn is a Venue after business hours and would be great for a wedding or private party. We can’t wait to come back!
The food’s good but not all the food is great. The workers are nice and the atmosphere is chill.
First off, I want to thank Chris (our server) Told wait would be 30-35 minutes, waited an hour. Only a quarter of the place has seating not really sure why. Atmosphere is incredible, although the acoustics do make it a bit loud. After we were finally seated no one took our order for about 15 minutes. Chris walked by and I asked who our server was and he said it wasn’t him but he would be happy to take care of us. He immediately took our order and gave to us what felt like special attention and we are very appreciative of that. Food was incredible as well. Just think the service needs a little work.
Upon first arriving you can't help but notice the hanging Pothos plants and potted rubber plants. They hang from a very well lite high ceiling. Huge, very clean windows overlook a nice patio area that was ready for dinners had it not been such a chilly day. This restaurant has been completely reinvaded and occupies the long vacant structure once called the Ground Cow. We waited in a large well appointed room with a glowing fireplace while our table was prepared. There were lovely plants everywhere in this area and a few tables for dining. Once taken to the main dining area which wasn't full, we were seated next to the windows that overlook the patio and I-80. As lovely as it is, the acoustics were awful and it was hard to carry on a conversation. Service was pleasant but it did take approximately twenty minutes once we ordered to have our food brought out. Water was served without ice and wasn't very cold. We felt the prices were reasonable but the menu was limited. The chicken crepe was tasty but did not have enough creamy bechamel sauce and tasted somewhat dry. On the same plate there was a very small mixed fresh greens salad that was not dressed although the waitress had told us it came with a light olive oil topping. I could not see any oil or taste any. At any rate, if you just enjoy fresh spinach and leafy greens without dressing, you will enjoy this small salad. Along with the crepe and salad, there was a bowl that arrived a few minutes later of roasted potatoes. Overall the meal was good and presented nicely but lacked in flavor. As time goes by perhaps the menu will become more diverse offering more options. If you enjoy a beautiful atmosphere, lovely plants, adequate service and nice presentation then you will enjoy the Greenhouse Cafe in Penryn but don't expect the service to be quick and remember the noise level is very loud. Just enjoy the ambience.
The food is some of the best food in the area! I got the french toast , with lemon curd and blueberry compote, it has a delicious pistachio crumble on perfectly crisp but soft brioche...the mixture is so flavorful without sweetness overtaking the palate. The latte was smooth and delicious! The service is attentive kind and warm; the wait is a bit long for the food. Overall: incredible experience as they are newly opened!
The first $20 hamburger that was worth $20. Exellent smash Burger. I'm still thinking about how good it was.
Came here for breakfast and the food was delicious and the dining area was nice and clean. Our waitress Shannon was helpful and pleasant. The only thing was that the food was a little pricey for the portions and some of the staff was a little unfriendly but overall a nice experience.
Breakfast menu is fabulous and tasted great. The location is perfect a breakfast or lunch meetup for friends and family scattered around Sacramento and Foothill communities as it is right off the 80 freeway in Penryn. Lovely building & patio for larger group catered events.
Took close to 7 minutes to be recognized at the hostess stand even though there were only two tables occupied and two servers working the floor. Neither server even made eye contact as we stood there. Finally we were taken to a two-top next to the espresso bar which was quite loud, I asked if we could sit by the window and she said no those are only for parties of 3 or more. I was quite put off as most of the tables were empty and yet still she insisted we sit away from the window right next to the kitchen. The food came out and was visually pleasing and quite tasty but the crispy potatoes were lukewarm at best. I had to ask for the poached egg that I had requested as she forgot it. As we sat there two more tables of two came in and were seated by the window that we were declined with no explanation to us. The server never asked if we would like more hot water for our tea, if we’d like anything else and brought us the check before removing our plates. I was very dissatisfied with the service and frankly a bit embarrassed that I suggested the place. It is a shame the service is so bad and the music too loud as the food was quite good and a beautiful remodel of an old building.
Nice huge place. They were not ready for their 7:30 crew. Coffee andlaye ,came after our brunch then cold coffee. I will give them a chance. Probably one of those mornings
We arrived at 10:00am to meet with our group of 11 guests. They explained to us that we had a two hour window to use our table (just WOW 🥴). After everyone was seated, it took a server nearly 35 minutes to serve water, then take drink/food orders. I ordered just a regular cup of coffee with my Eggs Benedict. Coffee tasted like it had been on the warmer for hours on end, NOT fresh. It was bitter and unpalatable. My eggs benedict were just okay, but nothing new or mind blowing. About the only thing I liked the most were the little bit of country style potatoes on the side. The atmosphere inside was nice, big and very clean.
As a Penryn local, I was excited for a new restaurant. I’m still up in the air about this one and I might give it another shot when Greenhouse works out its opening difficulties. We went on a Sunday with an 11:45 reservation. It’s Sunday and after church hours so we expected it to be busy. The hostess was warm and welcoming. She greeted us with a cheery hello and bright smile, told us it would be a few minutes. She seated us shortly after. Then it started to go downhill. It took a solid 30 minutes to get someone over to take drink orders. Then about 1 hour to get said drinks. Our food came out at separate times—so bad that our kids ate and finished their meals before the next one came out. Half of our order was incorrect and was never fixed, and some of our meals didn’t even come out complete as per indicated in the menu. We were there for 3 hours from walking in the door to leaving. At this point one of our meals still hadn’t come out from the kitchen and we requested to pack it to-go. It seemed like they were incredibly unorganized in the kitchen and understaffed on the floor. Also, the place does not have a kids menu yet it’s very much a family-friendly establishment. The only person I witnessed hustling was the hostess who was setting up tables, bussing tables, seating people, etc. She was receiving the brunt of very unhappy patrons and did so with a smile. That saint of a hostess, the food, and the lovely and fresh decor are currently the only things Greenhouse has going for itself at the moment. Like I said, it’s brand new so I’m chalking it up to opening pains. The restaurant has a lot of potential so hopefully the owner makes a few changes to smooth out operations. I also want to add that the waitress did comp our meal for the inconvenience which was a very nice gesture. Nonetheless, it was an experience that no one should have at a restaurant.
During my first visit, I found a man’s body hair on a plate. Things happen, so I decided not to leave a review at the time. But unfortunately, our second visit didn’t leave us 100% satisfied. We had reserved a table for a party, and the majority of our guests ordered dishes that included salmon. About 15 minutes later, we were informed that they had run out of salmon. How could that be? If I had come just for a casual brunch, it wouldn’t have been a big deal—but we had invited our guests to this place! Anyway, we were asked to reorder something else, later they told us that salmon would be delivered in about 15 minutes. We decided to wait. Maybe it did arrive in that time, but we ended up waiting much longer for our dishes to be prepared.I don’t know the exact time, but it was quite a long wait. That said, the food was delicious—everything looked and tasted great. The atmosphere was also very nice! However, at the end, before we paid, they pointed out that the 18% service charge was not a tip. We were already planning to leave an additional tip, so it felt a bit uncomfortable to hear that reminder.
Food and drinks were great but the service was not. Our server forgot about us and we walked to the front for paying after waiting over 30mins. I stopped some other servers but they didn't help me. No water refilled at all. I am willing to go back when the service improves. I did enjoy the food but not being there. Very unfortunate
I was a big fan of Greenhouse Cafe & Catering in Citrus Heights and often visited with my husband and friends. However, we visited the new Greenhouse in Penryn for the first time, and unfortunately, our experience was not the best—perhaps our expectations simply didn’t match reality. At first glance, the menu looks similar, but some items are missing. For example, my husband wanted to order borscht, but the server told us it’s not available yet. We ordered Salmon Benedict ($20) and a Chicken Crepe ($19), but the portions were significantly smaller than in Citrus Heights. We spent $42 but left feeling half-hungry, without any real enjoyment from the meal. As for the salad, it was a disappointment—just plain lettuce without any dressing or balsamic vinegar. That was definitely not what I expected. Another major downside was the waiting time. We waited about 20-30 minutes for our food, which was longer than expected. However, we realized that they only had one server at the time. I completely understand that one person can’t handle a large number of guests alone, but it still negatively affected the overall experience. Additionally, the seating situation was disappointing. We wanted to sit outside on a sunny day, but we were told it wasn’t a good idea because the server might forget about us and that it would be too noisy due to the freeway. However, instead of seating us somewhere more comfortable, they placed us right next to a large, crowded table, even though there were plenty of open spots. Ironically, we ended up in the same level of noise they had warned us about outside. The only real advantage Greenhouse in Penryn has over the Citrus Heights location is its beautiful interior and spacious seating. It’s a stylish and well-designed place with plenty of room for guests. At this point, Greenhouse in Penryn is only worth 2 out of 5 stars because every aspect—food, service, and overall experience—falls short.
Made reservations 3 weeks in advance for Sunday brunch with the family. Got seated 30 minutes after the time of reservation. 30 more minutes to get water. They provided 3 different menus, only one of which was valid so when the waitress came some people had to reassess as the options they wanted were not available. The food, which arrived another 30 minutes later, had good taste, but $20 for avocado toast is ridiculous. Small portions, it's pretty but not near up to par with other offerings in the area. All said it took over 2 hours to have an unfilling lunch. Sunday brunch, no manager, no owner, 2 hostesses first day no training. Waitress blaming hostesses, busser blaming kitchen staff. They could fit 10 more tables in that place. The acoustics are terrible, very empty and lots of echo. The parking lot is confusing and poorly laid out. They have a long way to go.
This restaurant definitely has some growing to do. I went here with one other person and it took over 3 hrs to sit down and get our food. The wait time to get anything was insane. Drinks took 45 minutes to get and food took over an hour. The food itself wasn’t anything to write home about. The eggs Benedict wasn’t cooked properly, the yolk was hard and not runny. The Nutella crepe was advertised as being served with a side of berries and I got a single strawberry cut into fourths on the side and the crepe only had Nutella in it. For $16 there should be a lot more fruit on the side or in the crepe. However the potatoes were pretty good so that was something. On the positive side the atmosphere and decor were amazing. Overall the restaurant had a really good vibe. I’d also like to add that my meal was heavily discounted because of these issues. I appreciate that they did that for us and I think a lot of the problems we had, had to do with the fact the restaurant just opened two weeks ago. I think with more time and practice this restaurant has the potential to be an amazing spot.
Average at best. The place is pretty but underutilized. The large open space with scattered tables and couches is not inviting and doesn't create an intimate atmosphere. The four chairs around the center fireplace look comfortable but are very stained, and I did not want to sit there while we waited for the table. Food is very pricey and lacks finesse and quality. I ordered a bagel and lox and it was not worth $20. The bagel is generic, store-bought, dense tasteless lump of carbs, and wasn't even toasted. The lox amount was scant. The smear on the bagel did not contain fresh herbs, just dried dill. The dish came with a side of potatoes and maybe there were 8-10 small pieces. My husband ordered an avocado scramble. Again, it came on a generic white toast. nothing special. The vanilla and hazelnut latte was way too sweet and I could not detect the hazelnut flavor. Our table was missing knives. The server could have been more polished and professional. She didn't ask if we wanted ice in the water and hardly came by. She did not check if we liked the food. She did not highlight any dishes or specials (we heard the server next to us talking about the menu). The space has very poor acoustics. You could hear the servers slamming dirty dishes in the open space. There was no background music either. We will probably not come back.

The reason this restaurant loses a star from the averages in the details is this: We were a party of 10. We had reservations for a couple of weeks in advance. When the reservations were first made, we were a party of 8. The increase came in the last few days before our reservation and was apparently not a problem for the restaurant to accommodate at all. When we finished our meals, the server came through with a hand-held payment processor and rang up our meals. We were not given the opportunity to view our bills prior to handing over our cards to pay, or even at the time of payment. Each of us requested a copy of the receipt. When the copies were not produced, one member of our party went to the register desk and requested hers. Upon this, we discovered that, without advising us, the restaurant had charged each member of the party a 20% service charge. This group gathers often at restaurants, so we are fully aware that many restaurants assess an automatic gratuity for groups over a certain size. However, this was not communicated to us in advance. Fine, we can perhaps overlook this, as it's not an uncommon practice. But each of us separately tipped the waitress 15% to 20% again. Upon asking the waitress if the 20% would be passed to her, we were told no, the restaurant keeps it. A few minutes later, she revised this and stated that she receives a small portion of it, amounting to about a 5% tip. When asked to provide all the receipts, the owner of the restaurant became irritable, and resisted disclosing what we were charged for. The entire SNAFU took another 30 minutes or so to "sort out" and the owner was not willing to have any discussion about the communication failure. The entire experience of their manner in dealing with an otherwise happy, easy-going, group was not fun, and likely most of us won't be back. The food: lovely presentation, tasty, but inconsistent execution. My poached eggs were a little overcooked, and others were not. The service: average. The atmosphere: also average.
@Tabo Foodtok: They have terrible management. Unprofessional manager, rude to his hard working employees, curses his employees. Don’t speak English, lazy. Great food - terrible management!
Was looking forward to celebrating my wife’s birthday. We were asked to wait for a table. We were set at a corner small table with menus. We asked to be moved to a window table right away when it became available. We were just barely seated when we made this request and were refused. The attitude and the way were addressed honestly was unacceptable - no customer service or accommodation. Even when we first came through the doors the hostess was acting like everyone was an inconvenience to her. I was looking forward to a first time highly rated breakfast place with high ratings. I am so disappointed for such a special occasion and to the hostess and the servers that dealt with us so rudely!!!!
Was super excited to check this place out, it was very disappointing. The cappuccino tasted cheap, burnt and bitter. The eclair was super hard and not fresh, super bad. The pink macaroon was okay, but was not fresh as well. My friend ordered crepes with chicken and mushroom, it was covered in white sauce, very wet and soggy. Service was unattentive and didn't know much about their food.
We came here on Sunday at 10:00 am. Inside is beautifully decorated. The hostess accommodated us with seating outside because we had our dog. We had to wait about 20 minutes to get the table set. Our waitress was very attentive. I was afraid we would be forgotten about because we were the only people outside but she did not! She brought us our drinks. She took our order. 5 minutes later she came back and told us they were out of eggs and it would be 30 minutes before they would be able to get more eggs?? You are a breakfast place on a Sunday at 10:00 am and run out of eggs??? Very poor food management. And we still had to pay for our drinks! At the very least you could of paid for that for our inconvenience. We will not return!
They do not have outdoor seating. Waste of over an hour drive with our dog.
Ca Eggs Benedict was bad. The muffin was not toasted so just cold bread with no moisture. Chicken crepe was missing the sauce and the crepe was overdone. Service was fine as waiter can only handle what the cooks make but was told they will remove the benedict charge. But when paying with the swiper they brought to table and the handed check amounts do not match the swiper was higher plus was still charged for the benedict. When asking for the printed receipt it can't be located.
We'd rather go to Nancy's or Awful Annie's next time. This was not a good experience. Greenhouse Penryn has great potential, but if the owners don't make any improvements, they won't stay in business for long. The staff needs some serious training. Slow service, as many have already said. Our waitress behaved unprofessionally. There was obvious lack of knowledge about menu and kitchen options. Not mentioning her stained shirt and apron, she was inhospitable and inattentive. She did not check on our table to refill our water or coffee/tea while we waited for a long time to get our order. When the food came, it was incorrect. We didn't reorder as we weren't willing to wait for another plate this long. Rather than apologize, she proceeded to give us excuses and making it sound like it was our fault. Who's training them? No manners at all. When the check came, there was no discount for our wrong and incomplete meal. The server walked past and dropped our receipt on the table while taking to another employee, her head turned away from us the whole time. No "thank you, hope you enjoyed your meal, come back again" - nothing. No apologies. The food was ok. Small portions are overpriced. The burger patty is quite thin. Limited protein choices to go with eggs (except for 2 strips of bacon - no sausage etc) Side potatoes portion was kid size, eggs Benedict overcooked. Also, be aware this place gets quite noisy when busy. We could not hear one another at our table. If all you care about is your instagram photo - this place might be for you. If you want a good meal and decent service without getting your day ruined, take your business elsewhere.
My family and I come to this café very often and have always enjoyed the food and atmosphere. However, something happened today that really upset us, and I truly hope the management takes this situation seriously. We made a reservation by phone in advance. When we arrived at 9:05, the same young woman who took the reservation seated us at a table directly under a strong air-conditioning vent. Since we were with a small child, I politely asked if we could move to another table. At that moment, our food hadn’t been served yet, and nothing had been prepared — but the same woman refused, saying we couldn’t move, even though the café was almost empty (only four of thirteen tables were occupied). We eventually moved on our own because the cold air made it impossible to stay there. The same woman came to our new table and told us our food would be served only at the original one, refusing to bring it over. I asked if she could at least pack it to go, but she just walked away and never returned. Meanwhile, our food sat on the cold table directly under the air conditioner, getting colder by the minute. After about five minutes, I approached another employee — a different young woman behind the counter — but she also refused to help. Only one young man stepped in and kindly said it was no problem; he brought our food over to the new table. Thanks to him, we could finally eat. However, after that, no one checked on us again, as if our table was being deliberately ignored, even though we wanted to order more food. We wouldn’t be writing this review if this were an isolated incident, but we dine here almost every day. Such treatment toward regular customers is very disappointing. I really hope management addresses this issue with the staff, because one employee’s poor behavior can completely ruin the impression of an otherwise great place. And now, unfortunately, this story will be shared not only within our family but also among our friends and acquaintances who visit this café.
Terribly slow service with mediocre food. Waited 2 hours for a salad while other tables got served that came in after us. The workers are very nice but would not come again.
We had a party of 9 with reservations and the service sucked with the food being just okay at best. All food came out at different times and the last plate 45 minutes after initial order was taken. Most food was left uneaten, the drinks never got refilled and the staff just avoided the area. This place will not survive a small town with service like we received. but it has a nice atmosphere.
