This restaurant is absolutely delicious! I ordered the petite filet mignon with creamy horseradish, b&b cheesy potatoes, and roasted broccoli, all of which was cooked to perfection and so flavorful. We also ordered the butter cake for dessert which did not disappoint. Food and drinks are on the pricier side, so forost this is probably more of a special occasion type restaurant.
I prefer this location over the Scottsdale one. Servers are nicer and it’s a chiller environment. Some of the best steaks in the valley, biggest shrimp I’ve ever seen, and a relaxed atmosphere make this one of my favorite steak houses. I was there and they happened to have a 3 course meal deal, it was a no brainer to order it! I usually get the ribeye but had the filet this time and loved it. If you go, don’t hold back and enjoy what they have to offer, it won’t disappoint.
Dom & Shawn were our excellent bartenders last night. Service is always excellent! The communication between Dom & Shawn was outstanding. Both introduced themselves made sure they got our names and remembered! Dom made us outstanding!! Espresso Martinis. I had a tequila espresso martini and he made my husband his own famous whiskey! Espresso martini! Bone marrow for appetizer! We always get the French onion soup! Butter cake desert! Expect to spend $$$$ here. It’s worth it all around.
Bourbon and Bones is an absolute gem! The food was nothing short of spectacular—every bite bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. The portions are incredibly generous, so expect to take home leftovers! The staff went above and beyond, making sure we felt welcomed and cared for throughout our entire visit. Their attentiveness and warmth truly elevated the experience. I can’t wait to return and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience!
The food here was TO DIE FOR. This place lives up to the hype, at least in the seafood department. The sea bass was delightful. I can't wait to come back again
Dinner for 6, early Monday evening dinner. Drinks were strong and unique, appetizers (giant shrimp cocktail - great, calamari - just okay, crab cake - good) and steaks were fantastic. Sides were truffled lobster Mac, crab mashed potatoes and some veggies. Overall, very pleased with the temp/cook of the steaks and the quality of food. Dessert was also great! The pound cake and the off-menu lemon cake! Outstanding service by Robert and Castle. Of course, with this restaurant, you know you are paying a pretty penny, and indeed it was :) Pleased and would return.
It's been a week and we decided to splurge and try this place. We didn't make a reservation and the wait was a little bit but that two seats at the bar so we took those. I think I would always choose to sit at the bar, we were given bar bacon, which was is the proper way to start a meal. The bar staff is very attentive. Bree explained the menu to us, which was very helpful. We started with an East Coast Sour and Let's Smash for drinks. Then had Blue Cheese Stuffed Medjool Dates and Kurobita Pork Belly. (I really need him to learn how to make stuffed dates for me). We decided to split the Prime New York Strip, which they offered to bring in one plate with an extra plate, split onto two plates, or slice it and bring on a platter, which is what we chose. We had the brussel sprouts and French fries for sides. It was all beautifully done and tasted very good. I do think for the prices it wasn't quite the level I would have expected, but it was a fun evening and we didn't leave hungry or dissatisfied in any way.
Everything from service to food was incredible. Haven't said that about any restaurant for awhile. $734.00 plus tip later for 4, do we have any regrets. Not a single one. You get what you pay for. We got it all. Love it and will definitely be back.❤️
Are you looking for a classy restaurant to celebrate an event of magnitude with someone you love? Are you looking to experience Japanese A5 with someone who means a lot to you? The 8oz Kobe A5 New York was very rich and provided a chewing experience I've never had before. The rendered fat secretes from the meat during your first couple of chews, leaving behind a piece of steak for you to chew on. I'd recommend a medium cook on this. The 24oz prime bone-in ribeye was a fantastic, high-quality cut of steak, which provides that expected steak chewing experience. My butcher, Troubs, can't get this quality of meat. Perfectly cooked, perfect grill marks, full of flavor and came with a light & tasty horseradish crema, I ordered, for dipping. It didn't need any of the 3 flavored salts they gave us. This was rave-worthy. We actually preferred the ribeye over the A5. The Tableside Flambe was a striking presentation, providing all with a dinner and a show. The brussel sprouts were served with pork lardons and a sweet bourbon glaze which we found very pleasing to the palate. It all worked, and the lardons were substantial. We really enjoyed their stellar creme brulee. It wasn't as sweet as others we've head, but was very creamy. However, the butter cake with the melted marshmallow and candied pecans was unique, albeit a tad disappointing since the crumb was kind of dry. The butter cake from Arrowhead Grill is so much better. Much love to our server, Sarah, who elevated the dining experience with her knowledge and positive attitude.
I had heard many good things about B&B, but never made it to the Scottsdale location. Daughter had suggested going and found that there is one on the west side, so we went. From the time entering and leaving we were greeted with top notch service. We had an appetizer, entrees, and dessert which was all amazing. If you want to treat yourself or the family you have to go to this upscale, casual steakhouse.
I'm so glad I came across Bourbon & Bones 🙌. I decided to book it for my BD dinner as it is located closer to my house in North Peoria. The experience was magnificent ✨️ they have an extensive menu for food and drinks. The service was exceptional, from the moment my family and I walked in. The staff took the time to explain in detail the off menu options and answered our questions. One thing that stood out and I appreciate a lot was the manager coming over to our table and helping out his staff when they were busy and we needed refills. I can say that this is one of new my favorite steakhouses in the Northwest Valley. I will definitely be back to enjoy their great food and service.
This place looks and feels as upscale as the prices, which was a strong start. The building is beautiful in design, and the music is set to a nice dull roar. Shout out to our server Dane for his attentiveness and amicability during our visit! My husband and I split the pork belly appetizer, and we're absolutely in love! The pork was criminally tender, with a tasteful amount of char that did not overpower the other flavors. The pineapple glaze clung to the pork with ease, and every garnish was welcome. Our steaks were beautifully crusted and at the appropriate temps. We appreciated the flavored salts that came out alongside the steaks, and the red wine sauce was particularly impressive. The texture on the garlic butter mushrooms was fabulous, NOT soggy, which is usually of concern for me when ordering mushrooms. The truffle mashed potatoes taste exactly as you'd expect, and have a creamy, smooth, subtly variable texture that I enjoyed. Multiple people checked on us throughout the night, the front of house here is absolutely stellar. They would hardly let my water glass hit the halfway mark! I would recommend this place to friends, and will likely be coming back with company. Thanks B&B!
So where do I begin? Fantastic from the moment I stepped through the door. Now this is an upscale restaurant and it's pricey, but you get what you pay for. I rate this place better than Arrowhead Grill, and I will explain why. I am using Arrowhead Grill as an example because they are the only upscale restaurant of this scale in the area. Let's start with the reservation, it was easy to make and when we got there early, about 20 mins or so we were told we could have a drink at the bar if we would like and they would come get us when the table is ready. First impressions are everything, including how that is delivered 10/10. Now, drinks, they have everything. I had a Margarita because I love good Tequila. It was top shelf and tasted great. My wife had a drink as well, I can't remember what it was called... Sorry. It was delicious! Ok, so I could have ordered everything from the bar, and it would have been just as great, but I wanted a full sit-down experience at a table for this review. Once we got sat at the table, we were greeted and asked if we had any questions about the alcohol list because it is quite extensive, and they brought us some bread. We then ordered first the shrimp cocktail and 4 shrimp and ordered the Crab Cakes as well because I'm comparing them from other high-end restaurants in Az. The Crab cakes beat Arrowhead Grill 100 percent and came in close second to Buck and Ryder only because the crab used at Buck and Ryder is Blue crab and it just had a different taste. Jumbo shrimp was fantastic. The main course was 2 prime filets, one with scallops. 1 side of Brussel sprouts and 1 Russet baked potato. Massive potato, as you can see from the picture, so it was shared. Same with the Brussel sprouts, at these places, everything is A la carte. I also ordered three types of dip for the steak. All of it was Amazing truly, good job. What was surprising was about 5 mins from the food arriving they came over, and you picked your steak knife for your preference. WHAT..... that was cool. Ok, now the last was dessert. The butter cake was very good. It was light and not dry. Honestly, it was delicious. It was expensive but worth it. The place was clean, the bathroom was very nice and everyone was great. Now, the only downfall. I do not dress up to go out and eat. I don't care where I'm dining. Never have never will. I will say that what I was wearing was not an issue to anyone at the restaurant it was just my normal. Also, if you dress up, no biggie that's not what I'm getting at. What you wear does not define your status. So we watched as the manager went and talked to the tables but didn't come to ours. No biggie I will be back regardless but I do true and honest reviews from beginning to end on everywhere I go. I give them a 5/5 on everything. You must try them for yourself. Excellent!
First time visiting and will definitely repeat. The service was amazing and everyone from the server to manager was very attentive. The name of the restaurant holds true as their is a vast menu of alcohol to choose from. The food was spot on and the portions were perfect. Highly recommend the bourbon butter cake as it was absolutely amazingly delicious. My only gripe is that I made a reservation and it wasn't completely busy yet but for some reason I got sat in the corner facing the exit door, fire extinguisher, and defibrillator. So I can't really comment on the atmosphere of this place. I did bring it up, but someone had to sit there and I didn't want to ruin anyone elses New Years Eve experience.
Amazing!! If you want a delicious (expensive), exciting and fun dinner experience, go here! Everything was extremely wonderful. This is not a come every month place (unless you're made of money), but a fantastic place to celebrate any occasion. It was my anniversary and I have NEVER had a place compliment on my anniversary or give me any complimentary dessert for the anniversary. I truly felt special! This place went above and beyond in everything. They even let you pick your steak knife. The food was top notch. I am a huge fan of steak and expected this to taste very similar to other places. I was so wrong. The crisp top/bottom and yet juicy, melt in your mouth middle was insane. I can't wait to go back!!
Really great time, especially for the west side of town. The first time we've felt that we could get the better food and service experience of the east side of the valley. 1. Food was incredible, and the devil's hot rock was a great presentation. Steak was excellent. Some of the best fish we've had in the valley (Chilean sea bass). 2. Cocktails, also good but STRONG. Watch yourself, it's a good way to end up with a headache. While I appreciate the strength, you'll find it hard to do more than 1 and still feel comfortable driving. Highly recommend pacing. 3. Service - excellent, you can tell everyone there is enjoying the food and is enjoying the job. Great to interact with folks who like where they are. There was some slowness at start but it picked up and corrected quickly. 4. Atmosphere - fun, but loud. Keep in mind that it'll be harder to hear if you're looking for something intimate. The dining room is a bit quieter but we sat on high top. All around excellent, fun, price is a touch high but well worth it if you're looking for great food and cocktails.
I have enjoyed a number of steakhouses prior, but Bourbon & Bones has blown me away. The service was excellent and the staff was professional and friendly. The food was amazing from the Bison Ribeye or the bone-in Ribeye, cooked perfectly to order. Brussel sprouts were an amazing side dish with the mashed potatoes. The bourbon bread dessert was perfect way to round out the meal. Our drinks were excellent and perfectly. Even the lack of parking could not take away from the experience, well worth it. Will definitely return.
Pretty nice place if you are looking to grab drinks or dinner. They have a lot of drink selections and a well stocked wine bar. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed and the service was great. We came here for dinner and the food was really good. We ordered the prime rib special, which was really juicy and tender. I would definitely recommend it. We also ordered a steak and the Ahi Tuna. The steak was cooked perfectly and had a great taste and texture. The Ahi Tuna was great. It had a really great sauce that really complimented the tuna. Overall, it was a great experience, and we would definitely be back again in the future
We were so excited to see this restaurant open on our side of town. We usually go to the Old Town location. We were celebrating my sons 21st birthday and we were very happy about the short drive on a work night. The food was good as always. The bourbon fire at the table is always an impressive addition. I wish the waitress was as attentive as the manager. The manager was great. He stopped by a couple of times. The waitress was good until we got our food. She checked on us right as the food came and then zero service for about 20 minutes. Empty glasses, not even someone filling water glasses. We wanted to order dessert, but by that time, I had to go track down the waitress, and then I was too irritated to stay longer. She brought out a birthday dessert at the end for our son but literally missed out on another round of drinks and dessert for our group of 6 with 4 growing boys (21-22 year olds). It was not the impressive experience I was expecting for my kiddos' birthday. The most disappointing part was that no apology was offered. Instead, she said "well I saw you were still nibbling." She did Graciously delivered the large bill with a smile. The hubby and I will return...but we will probably take the trip to Old Town.
The seating area seems a bit small with lots of high tops rather than standard tabs seating when you first walk in. This has been a much needed place in the area with delicious food. Our server was very helpful with the menu and offered up many recommendations. The bacon wrapped dates were delicious and a must try. As far as the steak, seafood, and side dishes they all were good… the Brussel sprouts are a must try as well. Also we try the side sauces and those were shareable and they added extra flavor. The crème brûlée was good but feel like it could use something. Overall a huge big welcome to the neighborhood and can’t wait to try more on the menu.
Visited for the first time and it was for our anniversary. The waiter was very insightful and attentive. Decided on Crab cakes for appetizer, Oscar style Ribeye with Flambe option, brussel sprouts, and cake for dessert. The food was delicious, but doesn't stand out to where I would crave to return on a non-special day. The drink selection is massive if that's your preference and the ambience of the restaurant is modern yet cozy. I enjoyed our time and the waiter was wonderful in making our stay comfortable.
Decided to finally go, watched it get built but never made the time. Date night after a big week. Got seated shortly even without a reservation. Service was great . Food was spectacular, one of the best steaks I’ve had ever. Wife’s scallops were cooked perfectly. Side of Brussel sprouts and au gratin potatoes were delicious. Definitely a place for an occasion but when you want to splurge it’s a fantastic option.
Excellent food, excellent service, couldn't ask for much more than that! Had our second dine-in the other evening, manager and server were extraordinary! I would never send back food, but they immediately noticed I didn't love the way my steak was cooked. They took it back and cooked it so it met the standards of what I asked it to be cooked to. The manager brought it out and stayed to make sure when I cut into it, that it was cooked to my liking. I wish I got names, but he was very accommodating and you could tell in the manager and waitress they had our whole evening in their best interest! We love this place, and I'd recommend it to anyone! I don't have a single thing to complain about. Thanks for making our anniversary dinner so great! We will be back for sure!!🤗
Top Teir Chophouse! - I would highly recommend it for the food, staff, drinks and the GM. Tyler Voyles delivers a superior dinning experience. They have an amzing menu with incredible options. Worldclass. The place was great ... even with a bad seminar host. Secured Financial Solutions invited us to attend an event at the Bourbon & Bones Chophouse | Bar, boy was this a capital mistake. Do not attend or invest with these clowns The President of Secure Financial Solutions, Anil Vairani, is an obnoxious jerk. - After begging for our money and business, we left after a high-pressure, low-class, slimy sales pitch. - He chased me into the parking lot, screaming, "... look at MY sports car, I don't need your money!" - It's a lease, of course. What a joke. Save your time, avoid them. The Bourbon & Bones Chophouse & Bar is to good for these types of obnoxious jerks, IMO.
Very good food and service. Our first seat was drafty, but we moved upon request. Signature cocktails were delicious. Pricy but very good.
Just celebrated our 45th Anniversary on a dinner date...marvelous! Besides the company of my pretty bride, our waiter, Nicole, was fun, engaging, helpful, informative and kind. Her helper, Dustin was attentive and equally engaging. the food was delicious, with the exception of the broccoli. But, as I am not a fan at all, that critique has to be taken with a grain of salt, so to speak! Yes, on the expensive side, but the menu had a variety of choices that can keep the bill down. My wife and I fully recommend Bourbon and bones for a delightful experience and a delicious meal!
My husband and I stopped in for a quick happy hour snack and cocktails. We were promptly seated in the bar and had a pleasant conversation with Quan as he brought our water. Tyler the manager even stopped by our table. Quan is definitely an asset to your establishment.
Amazing, the burbon and whiskey selection is off the chart, if they do not have all of it, they are very close. The food quality and service match. I had my personal favorite garrison cowboy 🤠 🤪 on the rock. MY wife had a cocktail with a purple gin on a rock as well also amazing, the crab cake and lobster Mac n Cheese was to die for. My ribeye flamba was seasoned and cooked to perfection. We're going back for our anniversary. The only thing they could improve would be to add a sweet wine to the list. I personally like the merlots and savuignon but my wife like light sweet wine. But with all the hand crafted cocktails thier is something to please even if they don't have a sweet wine like a Zinenfenndel or Moscotto. Amazing night looking forward to the anniversary!!
First impression with hostess was not good experience. We had reservations for dinner but we arrived 45 minutes early to have cocktails in bar or on patio but was told we couldn’t sit anywhere unless we were ordering food. We were quite shocked by this and almost cancelled reservation and went elsewhere . Then she said one of us could try and walk up to bar and get drinks but she didn’t think they would serve us unless we were sitting at bar. Luckily bartender was very nice, my cocktail was great, and we decided to stay. We were seated for dinner promptly and the service was exceptional. We had filet and strip steak and both were cooked perfectly. Wedge salad very very good, one of the best I’ve had. Mashed potatoes were gummy and broccoli was burned so won’t order those again. We got chocolate cake for desert with carmel sauce and ice cream and it was very good. But honestly the great service, other than hostess, was what truly stood out from other upscale restaurants.
I would give this place 10 stars for service if I could. Our server was fantastic! Unfortunately I didn't get her name because I was a bit late getting there. (Gamboa reservation) The steak was one of the best, if not the best that I've had in Arizona. The sides were large and shareable, definitely on par with the steak. (Brussel sprouts are fantastic!) I ordered a seafood tower to share with the table and it didn't disappoint. Everything was fresh and chilled to perfection. Thanks for the service and great food, we will definitely be back.
Fantastic restaurant. I had the rack of lamb, which is hard to find in the valley btw, and it was cooked to perfection and so flavorful. My father had the bison and it was also tender and delicious. Note that if you order to flambé they charge $19 for that. The sides are a la carte, big enough to share between 3 people, and also tasty. The cheesecake is very good. They have a huge bourbon selection as well so it's a good place to try some new drinks. Large bar with several high tops, good size regular dining room, and they have outdoor seating as well. Dress code is business casual but I got in in jeans and a T-shirt and didn't feel like I stuck out terribly. $300 for 2 people.
Attended an event here last evening. I wish I brought my winter coat because it was absolutely freezing and I was wearing warm clothing!! The food was good for the most part: the Caesar salad was bland, the filet mignon was perfect, the shared broccoli side was burned and the shared mashed potatoes were good but very skimpy (about 2 tablespoons per person at our table). The chocolate cake was very sweet. It was not an enjoyable experience due to the freezing room temperature, therefore I cannot recommend and will not return.
First off: There is a dress code. It’s the first restaurant in Phoenix where it’s more than ‘No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service.’ I came here Thursday, Nov 6th, for dinner. My first time here; and first of the B&B’s locations. It’s interesting to read the reviews; and I’ve seen a few saying the Scottsdale location is better. Regardless, I’m by myself and took a seat at the bar. The restaurant is spacious, clean, and not well lit. The menus for wines, beers, & spirits is ominous. Not only on the back of the food menu, but also the bar menu. Shawn, my bartender and server, was quite informative talking about the bourbons they have. He even provided samples to taste each bourbon. A very nice touch. Take note: if you sit at the bar they’ll give you a mason jar with bacon in it. It’s only for people dining at the bar. I started my meal with the bleu cheese stuffed dates. Next was the French onion soup. My entree was the bone-in 22oz ribeye with creamed spinach and asparagus. The dates arrived; four on the plate that are good sized dates. Very delicious. The cheese was not overpowering in flavor as it is stronger compared to Gorgonzola. The French onion soup arrived next. It was awful. Straight up it has to be the worst soup I’ve ever had. Instead of one crouton with Gruyère cheese over the top, there were multiple pieces of bread crammed inside the bowl. Very difficult to scoop with the spoon. There were onions, but not a lot. The flavor was way off too for the broth. Shawn was awesome, and removed it from my check. I then ordered one shrimp/shrimp cocktail… just to try it. They’re $10/each shrimp — 2-3oz. My steak arrived with the two sides. The steak was cooked just right at medium-rare. It was fine, but not the best cut of meat. Interesting how they offer your choice in steak knives. The sides were very good. The creamed spinach was big enough you can share; and the asparagus cooked just right. See my review for Golden Steer in Las Vegas and compare who gives more? That’s a drive well worth going to for dinner. Anyway, I wrapped up everything to go as the shrimp cocktail arrived. The shrimp was very good. Not overcooked; with the tail attached. They were creative with the lemon wrapped in a cheese cloth liked arrangement. Squeeze the lemon through the cloth that traps the seeds. The only part that left loads of room for improvement was the cocktail sauce. The horseradish was in a separate ramekin that you had to add and mix. Shawn never heard of St Elmo’s in Indianapolis, IN. Their shrimp cocktails are well known. Especially their sauce as they grind their horseradish fresh; and the sauce is more pink than red. It will set you on fire 🔥 and open up your sinuses — it’s that good. For an after dinner cocktail I selected their Knob Creek (?) Pre-Prohibition Old Fashioned. Very good bourbon. Served on a one solid round piece of ice, and an orange peel for garnish. I ended the evening with the apple crumble that is topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream; and drizzled with a caramel sauce. A fine evening with good conversation, and a few laughs with the manager, Peter. He remembered my coming the week before improperly dressed. I have a good number of other steakhouses to visit. For now would I come back to B&B? Probably not. It’s the prices that are one reason; and the other will be the choice of meats being served. In my five years living in the Phoenix area I’ve been to Black Angus, Texas Roadhouse, The Keg, and another whose name escapes me. The Keg has been the best so far. I’ve yet to visit Steak 44, Amber & Ash, Morton’s, Steak 1984, and more to name. Service makes up for food quality; but even food quality can’t save good or bad service. I hope you understand that. The restrooms are clean. Parking might be a challenge — you’ll see when you visit this location. My check before taxes was $194-ish? I appreciate the service Shawn provided, and speaking with Peter who shared some great stories from Nebraska and Florida.
This restaurant is fantastic when everything comes together. I live nearby and have visited twice already. As a big prime rib fan, that’s what I go for. The prime rib was just okay on my first visit, but absolutely outstanding the second time around. Service overall was great, though I do wish the dessert menu had arrived faster—we waited over 30 minutes and had to ask three times. Still, that’s a minor issue and definitely not a deal breaker.
Went here last night for our anniversary and it was overall a good dinner, the drinks are very expensive for what they are. The ceviche was just ok not a whole lot of flavor, we have had better. The steaks were cooked to perfection! It was good and great service do not get me wrong, but I think the cost is a little on the high side only reason I gave it 4 stars
Celebrated my birthday here with friends. Fabulous night! It did get a little smoky by the bar due to some of the dishes being served. So, if an allergy 🤧 sufferer like myself, be mindful
Everything we have tried on our 2 trips was fantastic! The drinks were great! Very “good” pours on wine and scotch 🥳! Happy hour prices are really great and the food has been delicious! We loved the calamari appetizer and have had 3 times during our 2 visits 😜. My steak 🥩 came out exactly the way I ordered it and it was delicious. We also had 2 desserts 🍨 and again…. delicious (forget which ones as we were a bit tipsy by then 😜) Highly recommend!
Ambiance is great. Food, beverages, and service are solid but I wouldn't quite say they are the best. Can get loud and feel a bit cramped based on how busy it can get. Carries a good reputation but is known to be a bit pricey, especially compared to the overall value. Good variety of food options. Truffle mashed potatoes carry a bit too much truffle oil, which can be overpowering. Special occasions/celebrations can vary by servers, which can be frustrating(better for some, as compared to others). Chicken dishes can be hit or miss. A friend of mine and I both ordered the filet mignon, but with different temps and we were served each other's on accident, which wasn't known until we were each a few bites in. Overall, satisfied and will return, but expect it to be pricey and possibly a good wait when/if you don't have a reservation.
Start off by expressing how wonderful the entire staff was! The “suits” walking around felt a little too much but they’re trying to make this establishment feel high end. Five stars for that. Unfortunately, the food is mediocre. $16 for a “loaded” baked potato that had a few pieces of bacon & tsp of sour cream? Filet had a gamey flavor, burnt on outside cooked correctly on the inside but couldn’t eat it. The French onion soup was very good. The table next to us was celebrating a birthday. About 13 people yelling and screaming. Wasn’t quite the romantic setting we were looking for. Definitely better than the bird restaurant across street though! Will try another visit.
This is an average Steakhouse with above average prices. We spent $150+ per person. Appetizers were the star of the night. We got our steaks and sides before we got any dinner utensils, or knives. This likely being the reason why our 10oz filet overcooked, sitting on a hot plate waiting. Avoid the Mac & Cheese, Rosemary and Thyme do not belong in mac and cheese… Whilst trying to remain positive about the experience, we still got a dessert for our 5 year old. I work in A kitchen myself and if i served that scoop of ice cream to a guest i would most likely be fired. Overall, we decided to go here rather than drive to scottsdale and if i could do it all again, we would have went to Dominicks/Ocean 44 and spent $150 per person there.
Went for a nice dinner with my mother but was super disappointed. The pork belly and calamari were pretty good. The short ribs were fatty. Neither side dish was cooked all the way. Worst of all, my mother's filet was overcooked and the lobster was raw. By the time they brought out her properly cooked meal, I had already finished eating and the restaurant was getting ready to close. I expected a LOT more given their prices. I received a call from someone the following day asking how my experience was and I was so taken aback, I just said fine. I've never been contacted by a restaurant like that before. I'm guessing they knew it was a completely subpar experience.
A bit more pricey then the other steak restaurants but its worth a try.
Honestly I had high hopes. The brussel sprouts weren’t cooked enough and pretty hard and tasted pretty balmy, the truffle fries were dry. The burrata AMAZING. The salmon cooked and seasoned perfectly. The steaks were cooked/seasoned good however the person who ordered medium got medium rare and the person who got medium rare got rare. The server we didn’t see much and the volume of the music was a bit too loud. We couldn’t hear the people on the other end of the table. Maybe just down one or two clicks. Definitely not worth the price.
Upon entering Bourbon & Bones we had an initial poor first impression. We had a reservation, but ended up waiting ten minutes to be sat while a walk in without a reservation was sat before us. We then requested to be sat at a different table which they then accommodated us. Service was initially slow with our first round of drinks taking 15-20 minutes to get to our table, but our second round of drinks arrived in a more timely manner. My significant other ordered his steak medium rare, but it came out medium. I ordered a dozen oysters and the chicken and orzo which were tasty. I enjoyed the touch of choose your weapon of steak knife. They had a wonderful selection of bourbon. Nicole was attentive and menu mapped for us. Max was personable and also attentive. The manager was the one who had come over to reseat us and he was very friendly as well. It seems the hostess could use some retraining or assistance. I will also say if you’re looking for oysters this place was the most expensive for them of any place I’ve been to and I’ve had fresher tasting oysters for a lesser price at many other places. All in all, we have decided we won’t be going back.
As far as food goes, this was one of the most disappointing fine dining experiences I've ever experienced. I would never go back and I would certainly never recommend it to any friends or family. My husband and I started with grilled octopus and crab cakes. The octopus was mediocre and I found the crab cakes to be even less than that. We had the wedge salad- which ended up being the only thing that I truly enjoyed here besides the baked potato. We both had the 10 oz filet Oscar. It looked amazing, but I couldn't believe how difficult it was to cut. Every other filet I've eaten at any decent restaurant can be cut easily with a butter knife. It was also slightly overcooked. The asparagus was CHARRED. I'm blown away that they even let my plate leave the kitchen because of it very obviously being burnt from end to end (as pictured). The Oscar sauce, while packed with lots of crab meat, lacked flavor. I feel like we could've spent the same $400 at Arrowhead Grill and left satisfied. Between the obnoxious technoy sounding music that was too and 1.5 hour+ ticket time, we couldn't get out of there fast enough. We actually gave our server our card to pay before our steaks came because we were so ready to go. Bourbon & Bones is a hard pass for us.
Save your money and go to Texas Roadhouse instead! Quality of food is not up to par with their price point. Steak was unevenly cooked. My husband ordered the 10oz filet mignon and I ordered the 6oz filet mignon. We both ordered ours medium rare and his was overcooked while mine was undercooked. Brussel sprouts were not crispy at all and extremely greasy. Best part of the meal were the shoestring fries. For almost $200 after tip this was not worth it!
I’ve been going here since it’s opened and it gets worse and worse each time. We had a 430 reservation, I checked in at 425 and sat at 440. Then they realized they sat us in the wrong seat and had us go back to the waiting section to wait for another table. We were comped for this part and it was nice of them to acknowledge it. After everything was said and done, we were sat 30 minutes post arrival, 25 minutes after our reservation. And they were not full. Wouldn’t be such a big deal if we didn’t have a sitter with our kids. When we sat at our new table we got a new waitress and it didn’t seem like the manager communicated anything to our new staff. We didn’t get bread service and our check was wrong. The food was ok. I asked for a med well burger with a little pink in the center and it was well done. Also asked for steak tips done medium, came out rare. My wife’s chicken and orzo was fantastic. Our new waitress was wonderful, she was understaffed. She should’ve had a manager help more with overflow.
Honestly I was waiting to make my review till the management made it right but they did not. I highly do not recommend spending a birthday or event here. They will make you sign a contract even though I was very clear everyone was on their own bill but cause of the size of the party they forced a private room even though I made it clear just wanted a reservation as it was for a birthday. The restaurant manager and staff said they could not accommodate party size without a contract. The night came 4 people weren’t able to make due to being sick and told us the day of. The food was not prepared correctly as most of the group sent back their meat as it was not cooked to how they asked. We sat waiting for drinks and food. Are end of the night I began to clear table to prepare for cake as it was already 915 and people had to get home to relieve baby sitters need to remind you we been there since 630. At the end we received the bill and as hostess I got hit with the people who couldn’t show minimum and on top of that their gratuity plus sales tax and administration fee was added to our bill. Our bill was $2400.00 for two people. We went to Dominick’s last week spent $300 for way better service and quality of food. We ordered the same amount as we did at bourbon as well. This is taking advantage of people and will never step foot in another bourbon and bones again unless they make this right.
The service was excellent, the presentation was beautiful, and the drinks and food tasted fantastic—but none of that matters when both my wife and I ended up with severe food poisoning the very next day. I ordered the rack of lamb with two Old Fashioneds and mac and cheese; my wife had the filet mignon with two cocktails and mashed potatoes. We shared our plates, so we have no idea which dish was the culprit—but something was clearly not handled or prepared properly. It’s incredibly disappointing because we genuinely enjoyed the atmosphere and the service, and we were excited to make this a regular spot. That changed immediately once we spent the following day sick. For a $310 dinner, the absolute minimum expectation is to feel safe and well afterward. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case, and it completely ruined what should have been a great experience.
This was the worst “fine dining” experience and the longest review I have written. I’ll preface this by saying go to Buck and Rider if you’re looking for superb service and great food. We’ve come here a few times and this will be the last. Our reservation was at 4:30 for a high top and had arrived a few minutes early. We checked and were told to wait which is understandable. 10 minutes pass and 2 couples who came in after us had been seated; one with a reservation and one without. Based on the conversation, that individual is a regular and therefore could bypass any sort of reservation or wait policy the restaurant holds. More time passes and my husband gets up to address the hostess stand about the wait and if we can get a drink. She stated she’s working on the table and that the bar is full but he could go up and try to get a drink. Why have a seated waiting area with drink menus if there isn’t staff available to serve? 20 minutes have passed and the bar staff comes to see if we need more drinks, mind you, I still haven’t received my wine. My husband then goes to the hostess to get an update to which she responds “a couple more minutes”. She comes over and says she could seat us at 6 top high top OR we could wait until 5 for the dining area to be open. Our reservation again was at 4:30 for the high top so we proceeded. She apologized for seating us at a 6 top which was irrelevant because it didn’t affect us. At this point I get my drink and place my appetizer. Less than 10 minutes pass when the manager frantically comes over stating we need to leave the table as there’s a reservation for 6 already set for our current table, stating he’d give us “ whatever we want, dessert, wine , etc”. This was embarrassing and frustrating. We got up from our table only to be ushered back to the waiting area for another table to get cleared. 5 minutes pass and musical chairs with my wine had finally concluded. The only redeeming quality was our waitress who clearly was in need of support and communication from management. She was as accommodating as she could be given the situation. Our bill came and we were charged the full amount as the manager had not communicated the adjustments needing to be made to the server. She was apologetic, although not her fault, and made the necessary adjustments. This, however, added to the frustration and embarrassment of the night. We don’t go out often as it’s hard to find childcare accommodations, but when we do, and when we spend over 200 dollars for the ticket, I expect decent service and some human decency, none of which were present tonight. Lastly, if you’re an owner who pays for the Google Calendar to manage your reservations, actually look at your reservations so you know how many people are coming in and what it takes to serve those patrons in an accommodating manor.
