Absolutely Amazing Food!! This may be the best BBQ meal I have ever had. The restaurant is very spacious and incredibly clean. The staff was top notch!! Very helpful and patient with people making decisions. Lots of seating which is a nice change as so many BBQ places are not known for that. I had the Turkey, Brisket, and Brisket Boudin. Garlic Green Beans and Tater Tot Casserole. Top it all off with Cinnamon Roll Bread Pudding. My waist line isn’t happy but my taste buds are ecstatic!!
We ordered food to go and it was delicious. I wish I took pictures to go along with this but we really enjoyed our food. I got the brisket Banh Mi sandwich with fries and we also got a Reuben sandwich with Green Chili Mac & Cheese. It was on the high end of our budget but definitely worth it.
Amazing food, got the turkey, sausage, brisket and Mac and cheese. The meat is sensational. The shells in the Mac n cheese were a little underdone. The only confusing thing that they could improve on is the price of the family packs. Pfamily pack of 2lbs of meat and 2 pint sides= $93 Ordering 2lbs of brisket (the highest priced meat) and 2 pints sides = $36+$36+$9.50+$9.50 =$91.00 I’m not sure what I’m missing and the staff couldn’t tell me any difference either. Is this just set as a trap for people who don’t want to do math? If a person picks cheaper meats in the choice of the 2lbs it’s a much more significant lose of money than $2. If it’s meant to be a deal, make it a deal! Add another side or length of sausage or something. Or just take it off the menu. Despite that, it’s still some of the best BBQ in Texas!
This place is great! I had the two meat plate with brisket, pulled pork, cornbread casserole and green chile mac & cheese. Everything tasted great! Loved the BBQ sauce as well...
Look, I’ve been in Texas my whole life.. bbq these days recently has been a disappointment. Brothertons today was a refresh reset for me. I got the brisket and was so moist you’ll slap your momma and then slap your wife. The turkey is so moist it makes you moist. And the service is so on point. Take advantage of good bbq while it’s here people
Guys, I love y’all. I’ve always loved y’all and I’ve brought all kinds of family and friends from all over to enjoy your incredible food. I know that y’all are having a hard time financially but when you’re barely ever open, is that a surprise? 4 hours half the time? You would be better off opening from 3 PM to 7 PM… You ask for more business before ever extending your hours to a barely reasonable timeframe. Most of us don’t get off work at 2pm. I get off at 5-6pm and like today would love to stop by but I can’t because you’re hardly open. Great people. Great food. Better than most anywhere else but you can’t make money when you’re not open
My new BBQ place! The brisket and sides are so tasty. I had 2-meat brisket with sides of the Parmesan garlic green beans and the green chile mac & cheese (absolutely satisfying). The menu has sophisticated options that seem carefully created. I would call this place more than “modest”, as this exceeds hole-in-the-wall status because it is clean, brightly-lit, fresh and modern with lots of seating and ALSO has amazing BBQ and sides. I judge a BBQ place by their brisket AND sides, not just the meat. I do agree with others that the brisket is a tad too close to dry (I came at 11:30am on a Friday). Brotherton’s is doing an amazing job on flavor, and this is where I will bring friends and family.
My go to spot for BBQ in Austin. Everyone I have taken here has said the food is good. Diverse menu, brisket is consistently good and love the jerk wings. They have good range of sides to choose from. My personal favorite is the tater tot casserole, brisket boudain, and sandwiches. The potato salad could use some improvement. Overall all great value
Had a killer BBQ night at Brotherton’s Black Iron Barbecue — I went for the 3-Meat Plate and got brisket, pork ribs, and housemade sausage, plus sides of green chile mac & cheese and pinto beans. The brisket had that smoky bark I love, the ribs were tender, and the sausage had real snap. Their Brisket & Kimchi Banh Mi sandwich was also a fun twist — spicy, juicy, and totally satisfying. Service was friendly and efficient even when they were busy, and they checked in often without hovering. The space is casual and no-frills, great for just digging into good BBQ without fuss. Definitely going back to try the Loaded Nachos and whichever dessert cobbler they have that day.
We have lived in Texas for 3 years and this is the best brisket and ribs we have had! No sauce needed, absolutely delicious! The Mac & cheese is heavenly!! Garlic green beans a must have side! Don’t miss out on Brothertons! We got the Family 4 meal with 2 meats (we got brisket and ribs) and 2 sides. Our kids (age 12 and 7) loved it as well.
This place has not missed a beat. In the last year, it's still incredible. The pork ribs were fantastic. The brisket was really very good. It's always up there in the top ones. But the star for us was actually the sides.. had the tater tot casserole and the green chili macaroni, both were top shelf just so very good. And you really just gotta give it a try. It's always in the top fifty, and it's in the upper section of that.
A well deserved title of being in Texas Monthly's Top 50 BBQ joints. Friendly staff while ordering. Anytime I venture to a new BBQ place I opt for the brisket and sausage. Brisket had a real nice bark. Seasoning was on point. The jalapeno cheddar sausage was possibly the best one I've had. The clumps of cheddar was unique as other places use smaller crumb-sized pieces. My buddy had the brisket and pork ribs. He loved the ribs so much that he ordered another set as we left for dinner that evening. A good choice of sides and a few you typically don't see at other BBQ establishments. The Mac and cheese caught my eye and also had a nice kick to it. Pricing was about market average right now.
Get the pastrami sandwich with extra cheese, hands down the best item on the menu! Everything else is amazing too, but I promise you the sandwich will not disappoint

I absolutely love boudin... it's pretty hard to find around here. Brothertons smoked boudin is hands down the best I've had. It's not your traditional, but that's what I like. It's a very solid Texas…

Everything we ate was delicious! The Reuben sandwich was amazing! Cool atmosphere and very friendly staff. If we lived in Texas we would definitely be back.

Amazing brisket grilled cheese! Love this place, great atmosphere and service was friendly and efficient. Keep up the great work!
This is the best BBQ around. Delicious food, friendly staff, and clean place to eat. Buy local, it's priceless!
My wife and I stopped in for lunch. This was very good BBQ. Enjoyed the brisket, ribs, chicken and the sides were very good. Will visit again.

This is a great restaurant. Food was amazing and staff were very friendly. I highly recommend eating here
Our first time visiting and the food is good! The moist brisket and chicken fried steak are the stars of the show. The moist brisket is peppery and delicious. The chicken fried steak could feed 2 people easily. We loved the the brisket grilled cheese and the boudin sausage! Can’t wait to go back.
Let me say this. Brotherton's was not my thing. I went for a TX Reuben and I was not impressed. HOWEVER, people apparently LOVE it. There was a line out the door. I talked to a table of four guys about the place, and they raved about everything. They encouraged me to come back and lean into the BBQ. They said the brisket is some of the best around and the sausage is fantastic too. A third guys sweats their Brisket Smash Burger is the best in the area. He added the Loaded Grill Cheese will change your life.
This place was solid, would bring friends and family to try it. I had the 3 meat plate - brisket, sausage, and ribs - which is how I compare every bbq spot I go to. The brisket was very tender, especially the fattier parts. The leaner parts left a little to be desired. The smoke ring and bark was great. The sausage was a classic. The ribs were a little too dry and sweet for me. The beans were average. The cornbread casserole I’ve never seen anywhere else and it was a nice sweet dessert. I’ll just stick to the fatty brisket and sausage next time
Unassuming storefront has awesome BBQ. The brisket was a little drier than I’d have liked but we loved all the tasty sides, the ribs and the jalapeño cheddar sausage. I got the brisket bahn mi and that was so good! Recommend stopping here - make sure to go early in the day because they do sell out daily!
Ordered family meal of 6 here with brisket, turkey, and boudin along with sides: tater tot casserole, green chile Mac and cheese, and potato salad... it was the last of it (sides/meats)and it was okay. I personally have had much better bbq because I don't like much fat in my brisket (or any meats). Boudin was good. Paid around ~$130. Glad I got to enjoy with family but was far from my best bbq experience. The workers were extremely helpful and nice though, great atmosphere.
I went here with my girlfriend this past Saturday afternoon. They were busy, and we got a table for dine-in + some extra brisket to go. I’d say that the brisket and brisket melt tasted great. The mac and cheese was below average, and cornbread casserole was pretty good. The mild sausage was flavorful and juicy. Overall, the food was a good 7.8/10, but I am deducting a little since the 1 meat plate seemed relatively pricey for the portion size that we got.

Popped in last week on a Thursday at noon. No line which was great but man if your food isn’t gonna be on point at least be a little friendly. Boudin was great, brisket was okay, gave me the weakest and driest slices of lean there was. The jerk chicken was awesome. Juicy and lots of spices and great flavors. Sides were just a eh.
The hype around this BBQ place has reached fever pitch over the last few years. I finally was able to experience it yesterday (Thursday) around 1pm. The service team is exceptional. Super friendly and helpful. So much so, that I feel a bit guilty over this review, but I must keep it real. This is some of the worst BBQ I've had in the 15 years I've lived in Texas. The brisket was dry and tough. My two meat plate came with ribs and those were pretty good but about 4 star at best. The sides were split luster for me. The Mac and cheese was good, once I got past the old stuff on top. The tot casserole was inedible. I took two bites and threw out the rest. Not sure how they have received such high reviews. I must have came on a bad day. However spending $28 for just myself at lunch (and I only had bottled water) won't happen again.
This location is in a small shopping center with a bunch of food trucks which is great but parking...not so much because of it. The restaurant is split into two sections which one side is ordering and the other for sitting. The customer service was okay. Maybe they had mean customers before us because they were just were not friendly, borderline felt like we were an inconvenience to order. Though, the man cutting the meat was very nice. You can sit about 10 parties so it gets packed quickly. We ordered the two meat plate with sliced brisket, regular sausage, potato salad, and beans. Then, we ordered the Reuben and banh mi with a side of fries. Overall, it was a good amount of food. The quality of meat was very good, but everything, including the sides, was just tasteless which was so surprising due to the hype. Maybe it was just an off morning on a Saturday. I am glad I tried and would not deter anyone from trying but will not return.
Went for the Texas Ruben (not available until Saturday) and ended up getting a quad of their meats. Brisket was good but a little dry, boudin was crumbly, the regular sausage was good but the ribs…

I don't even eat here but I do deliveries. The one lady is just rude and abrasive, but even the people who aren't rude seem annoyed to be busy and if I tell them I have a delivery they give me at least a comment on how online orders aren't currently being taken or I'll have to wait cuz they're busy. I will never eat here on my own dime, and that sucks because it smells good.
What happened to the Brotherton's I knew and loved??? Was craving their brisket grilled cheese, (used to the best I had ever had) but that won't happen again! It was full of shnibbles (finer than chopped) of dried out, tasteless brisket. I could not discern if there was even cheese in it, whereas it used to be packed full of delicious stretchy cheese. Price goes up and quality takes a nosedive? No wonder there was only one person in line in front of me at 12:30 on a Friday afternoon! I will not return, there are too many other BBQ places to choose from!
This place has been on my list for some time since I learned about it in the middle of last year, and it's something you have to look for, especially driving on pecan street. Definitely got excited before coming to this place yesterday around lunch as there was a good number of customers around. The service was amazing as the cashier was friendly and didn't make me feel rushed to order my food and offered a few of their favorites, I ended up getting the three meat plate with brisket, pulled pork with ribs with my side of the collar greens as well the parmesan green beans, then an order of the turkey as well brisket boudin. Now, the food I was mixed about as the looks had me excited, so I tried the collar greens first just to spit them out because they were too sour, and all I could taste was vinegar as I Instantly knew they weren't cooked long enough or maybe not washed fully, the green beans were good. Different from what most places are offering, but on to the brisket boudin sausage as I never tried them, as the texture and flavor was decent, I only had a few more bites with the sauce and without the sauce to get a full experience of each meat. The turkey was good and tender with a little amount of seasoning but still tasting juicy. The brisket was okay as it was tender but no real smokey flavor. The more I ate as I lost interest in them, the pulled pork didn't have anything different with or without sauce, but after two bites its just pulled pork. The ribs were good with a little smokey flavor as well tender, but the sauce isn't my favorite personal since they probably have a Vinegar based as I didn't think the sauce enhanced any of the flavor off these meats and without could help it. But for the convenience of this place, if you're getting gas or across dollar general, I'd stop in to try something else on their menu next time.
What the hell Brotherton's! You took my money when I ordered online. Made me drive all the way up there only to find a sign saying sold out and locked doors. Of course no answer on the phone. So, y…
