Bar Bombón’s food was AMAZING truly made me forget that we were on a animal product fast for 21 days. By this day we were on about day 15 with no meat and it was our wedding anniversary so we had to find something to celebrate. Bar Bombón was definitely the best option for us as far as food goes. By far our favorite item was the heart of palm fish taco and my husband loved the burger and tres leche cake. The yuca was delicious with the sauce that came on the plate with the Maduros (fried plantains) I would definitely go back for those hearts of palm tacos ! I took one star off atmosphere because the place is VERY cramped and over booked for the amount of space they have. When I got up to use the bathroom I felt like my body may touch the people next to me eating on the way there. It was like we were at dinner with the two tables to the left and right of us. The tables are VERY VERY close to each other. Our waiter was very professional, kind and gave great recommendations. I would recommend to anyone interested in trying vegan food but I will say they set the bar pretty high for us. Not all vegan foods are created equal.
I have never been disappointed! Service is always great, and food always delicious. This time, we had the nachos (they were out of the jack fruit pork, but the “beef” was quite good), the buffalo cauliflower tacos, and the hearts of palm “fish” tacos. I swear, the hearts of palm tacos are hands down the best tacos I’ve ever had, including tacos I had before being vegetarian/vegan! Ended the night with a horchata with rum and it was AMAZING. By far my favorite restaurant in Philly, and I’m excited to return again soon!
Our first stop on a recent weekend in Philly was brunch at Bar Bombon. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcome and relaxed. Our server, Nico, was great—attentive but patient and extremely friendly (which certainly added to our experience). We had such a pleasant time that we returned on Monday evening for $5 Margarita Mondays! Don't miss this casual and fun neighborhood spot–especially if you're vegan (but don't be afraid to bring the omni friends & fam)!
Bar Bombon was the vegan bomb! A friend and I went for lunch during restaurant week and it did not disappoint. Our server Nico made us feel welcome and at home and made excellent recommendations. And the barista even spelled my name in the Mexican hot chocolate. Soooo good!! Would highly recommend!!!
Some people expect food to be art. I don’t. Some people like Schubert. I don’t. What I do like is a good bartender, a stiff margarita and an easy to understand menu. Bar Bombón has all those things. So go there. And it’s vegan. Plantains and the aioli are awesome.
Food was excellent! Didn't know it was Vegan when I sat down, but I left happy, full, and especially excited to come back and try more dishes. The atmosphere is cozy and romantic. The wait staff are friendly and offer helpful suggestions.
This place is incredible! Some of the best vegan food around. Our server Nico was amaze. Definitely recommend this place to vegans and non-vegans alike!
Delicious food and nice ambiance. Food wasn't overly greasy or drowned in any sort of sauce. Prompt service too and just a great escape from the intense heat. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area!
Okay this is a vegan place. I did not know that 😂. Having said that, the food was good. I was just craving real eggs so I was a bit disappointed but that’s on me. The service was great and the restaurant has a nice casual atmosphere.
If you want PLANT-BASED PHILLY CHEESESTEAK EMPANADAS, come here!!! Had no idea such a thing could exist and it was perfectly done. The whole experience was so great as my mom and I were only in town for the evening and were looking for something yummy and plant-based. The ONLY thing I feel the need to comment on (and I legit never say anything negative in my reviews) is the hostess, Shannon, was incredibly (almost hilariously?) rude. It was such a small but impactful interaction: We walked in and it wasn’t clear if she worked there or if she was standing waiting for someone so we asked if she worked there. She said “yeah…?” And then we were like “oh okay great, we have a reservation!” Like, we were so excited to be there. And she legit just looked at us so unamused/deadpan and was like “… okay… ???” LOL like, what?! How is that your response to someone saying they have a reservation? Anyway, so we were like “um yeah so… we’d like to… sit?” And she just kept looking at us like we were the dumbest people on earth and finally asked what the name of the reservation was. I told her the last name and I saw it on the screen so I was like “oh it’s right there!” Then she practically rolled her eyes and then grabbed menus and sat us. Idk if she was just having a bad night or what but we were just so perplexed by that interaction. I sincerely hope her evening got better! While that was a big turn off, the service by our waitress Tatiana was superb!!! She was so kind and friendly and chatted with us about the city and different spots to hit up. Also the food was INNNNNCREDIBLEEEEE!!! Like, no amount of rudeness could take away from the deliciousness of the food, hahah. We got the empanadas, yuca, enchiladas, fish tacos, and coconut tres leches 🤤 everything was soOooOoOOooOo good omg. It doesn’t matter if you’re usually plant-based or not, you will love what you have here! I promise If I ever find myself back in this area I will definitely be returning (especially for those freaking cheesesteak empanadas, please don’t even stop making them!!!) 😋
Amazing food! Some of the best Latin vegan food I have had to date! Nico my waiter was amazing - superior service!
BABY!!!! BAR BOMBÓN!!!!!!!! This has got to be one of the best vegan stops I have hit since 2015 (that’s how long I have been seeking out vegetarian/vegan food)! Tots on a day trip in Philadelphia and had this spot on my list because, of course! (Do yourself a favor and go look at the menu boo). I dined in, making a reservation that day, I was also a solo party. To start with drinks, I had the Cantaloupe Paloma and the La Preferida. So refreshing and light!!!!!! In the food arena, I snagged the Philly Steak Empanadas with spicy ketchup! In addition to that, the Sweet Plantains with aioli! Baby, you will want to slap the table! My main course was the enchiladas de mole with jackfruit as my filling option. My eyes were closed pretty much every time I put that fork in my mouth. I literally was flabbergasted by the fireworks going off in my mouth. Like…. The audacity of those flavors to be so dang good! So go ahead, make your reservations!
Amazing! Love it every time. Can’t recommend their margaritas enough. Brunch is spectacular and the tacos are always a hit. Try the philly steak empanadas! Very unique and tasty.
Our night was made by our server, Clarence ✨✨ amazing service! He gave us an intro to the menu, and helped us choose our pitcher. We liked it so much, we got another pitcher!! Food was really good. Happy hour is worth it! Everyone in our party enjoyed our food - fish tacos, seitan bites, quesadillas ! the TRES LECHES CAKE IS AMAZING! I stopped going for dine in for awhile bc i felt the service was a bit….. stiff and rude but I feel completely different now, Clarence is the only server I want tho 🤣 Definitely make a reservation if you’re going with a group! Had we had one, we would have stayed longer.
One of my favorite restaurants in Philly whether for lunch, brunch of dinner. Love the plant based / vegan options. 💚 Most recently enjoyed the restaurant week lunch with the empanada, buffalo cauliflower taco and sweet plantains. What made our time there standout this past visit was our server Nico. He’s genuine and can tell he enjoys his work. He was helpful with recommendations and was a mind reader for our needs. His kindness and proactiveness is very appreciated!!
Chips and Queso were a miss for me but my girlfriend liked it. Tacos were really good. Although I feel like the taco Tuesday version of the oyster mushroom tacos are better than the entree version. Also had the jerk seitan wings unpictured. Jerk flavoring was not really a hit but the texture of the seitan was great.
Marlo was awesome!! Attentive, but never hovered, answered all of our questions with a smile, made sure we had what we needed. Just overall a fantastic waitress!! I hate to say it but the manager wasn't as friendly. We saw the manager and Marlo bump into each other, clearly an accident, Marlo kept apologizing while it looked like the manager was about to punch her. She didn't but it definitely gave us the vibe that the staff is abused. I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, maybe she was having a bad day but she definitely seemed to have a negative impact on the staff and the energy changed when she left (she's why I'm leaving 4 stars instead of 5)....do with that what you will, but remember happiness is a choice! Anyway the food was great! We had a table of 5 and the young man (I didn't catch his name but he was shorter with dark hair and nice nails!) who seated us was super accommodating and made sure we were comfortable in our outdoor seating, which we had requested. We devoured a few chopped salads, double burger, avocado toast and shared a plate of pancakes. No crumb left behind!! Everyone was satisfied and happy! My friends said the drinks were excellent too. Although the weekend unlimited mimosas were super tempting, I decided to behave myself. If you like delicious Mexican food and great people watching I highly recommend a sidewalk table!! I'll definitely be back for mimosas and to eat my way through the menu.
This was a nice, cozy place. It's a smaller space but beautifully put together. The food comes out as it is finished being prepared, so waiting for everyone to get their food to eat may not be worth it. They were very accommodating with my food allergies, but I was very limited due to a coconut and soy allergy. The hearts of palm tacos were tasty, but I would have loved a sauce, but...allergies so all good.
We visited a charming little Latin American vegan spot in the heart of the city. Despite it being quite busy, our online reservation ensured we were seated promptly. The staff was warm and welcoming, and the service was solid. Our server did an excellent job explaining the menu and helping us order just the right amount of food for our group. We started with Nachos and Spicy Guacamole, along with the Spanish meatballs. While the nachos and guacamole were enjoyable, the meatballs fell flat. For our mains, we opted for the Impossible Tacos, Smoked Pork Pernil, and the Double Chorizo Burger. Although the portion sizes were on the smaller side, they were just enough. Unfortunately, none of the dishes really stood out, as the flavors were fairly underwhelming overall. IG: journey_man16
Honestly love this place usually but was disappointed by an experience on Saturday. We had a large party, a group of 16. The host of our party was under the impression that we had the table until 9. Granted, I wasn't on the email chain and this does seem like a long table time, and it might've been a misunderstanding. However, at no point did the host, server, or the manager who was overseeing the party mentioned to us that we would've have to get up at a certain time. After dessert was served the manager came over to our host and asked him how everything was and he gave a glowing review. At this point, she said that's great but you guys have to get up. Our group complied, however a couple of us still had dessert that we weren't done eating and beverages that were half drank. It was disheartening and left a bad taste in my mouth, especially after us spending over $1000 at the restaurant. As someone with many years in the service industry, the expectation of a table time limit should've been set ahead of time when we arrived so that we could pace our eating/enjoyment appropriately. It would've been different if it was mentioned when we arrived or at any point during the two time we were sitting there. To rush us at the end after we had paid and tipped and said nice things felt weird. So I don't necessarily recommend doing large parties here - or make sure you understand the expectations ahead of time. Still good food though 🫡
