The rumors are true—My loup is phenomenal. While the food is certainly a stand out, the service provided by Dan G and the rest of the staff was truly exemplary and exceptional. The black sherry Manhattan and the Oaxacan penecillin were incredibly well executed cocktails, every bite of raw fish was extraordinary, the cabbage and pickled shrimp stole the show, and the chocolate cake paired with green chartreuse took us home. Feeling extremely thankful and grateful for such a delicious dinner. 5 stars.
Had such a lovely birthday dinner at My Loup. The food is very unique & rich. The sourdough & butter was honestly so delicious I almost ordered another order to go. The chicken entree was phenomenal. Truly all around tasty food. The service was lovely, especially Nicky who presented each dish with care, enthusiasm and tips on how to best enjoy. It really made the experience so much more engaging and exciting. They graciously gave me a birthday card with everyone signature on it which made me tear up. You can tell everyone just genuinely cares & wants you to have a wonderful experience. Would highly recommend if you’re looking for a cozy, romantic date night that feels unique & not stuffy at all. I’ll go to bed dreaming of that bread and butter.
I was invited to My Loup in Philly by some very cool friends who wanted me to try their incredible delicacies, and it was an unforgettable New Year’s Eve experience. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with genuine warmth and promptly seated. Opting for the Let Us Cook experience turned out to be an excellent decision. Our server, Dan, was exceptionally knowledgeable and guided us through the menu with thoughtful recommendations. The entire staff, including Dan, was friendly, attentive, and detail-oriented—service was truly impeccable. The food was outstanding. Highlights included the seafood platter, especially the sea urchin and pickled shrimp, which offered a delightful balance of freshness and acidity. The main course, a bone-in pork chop, was cooked to perfection—each bite was rich, tender, and deeply satisfying. The Let Us Cook option gave us a well-curated sampling of dishes, and we left feeling both full and impressed. I wholeheartedly recommend My Loup for its exceptional cuisine and top-tier service. It’s a place where hospitality and culinary artistry come together beautifully.
We were fortunate to snag a late night reservation to celebrate my wife's belated birthday. We couldn't have asked for a better evening. As mentioned in other reviews, the service is amazing. The host (Ryan?) already knew my name and party at first glance. He was a magician in coordinating the busy flow of guests and even helping with service. We went with dishes that were previously recommended in reviews we read, but you probably can't go wrong with anything. Next time, we will be more adventurous and go with the "Let Us Cook" option to free us from the burden of deciding between great dishes. I normally don't drink but the cocktails were all thoughtfully curated and complemented the dishes well. Plateau Fruits de Mar- big sea food sampler and great way to start the meal! For our sampler, it included their famous pickled shrimp and razor clams. It basically includes about 6 seafood appetizers- all unique and flavorful. Green Garlic 'Esca-roll'- this was a fun way to enjoy escargot. a big buttery roll with the escargot and parmesan cheese interspersed between the crevices of the roll (just like the shape of a snail shell). Halibut "Clams & Shells Chowder", Ham- our favorite dish of the night. The chef surprised us with a big dallop of caviar simply for bringing our baby! It was our first time enjoying caviar, and very memorable it happened this way. It wasn't until we arrived at home that we realized we were talking to Alex Kemp himself. And probably just coincidentally, our baby daughters shared the same name. We really felt the restaurant's passion for creating an unforgettable experience and hope others will get a chance to experience it too.
One of our top 3 favorite restaurants in Philly. The cocktails and the food are both unreal. There is no weak part of the menu so no matter what you choose you will be blown away.
One of the best restaurants in Philly! Amazing dishes that will surprise you completely, pared with amazing wines. Not to begin about their signature cocktails and amazing staff!! See you soon guys 🫶
My fiancé and had a incredible dining experience at My Loup. Beautiful lively atmosphere, and an attentive and helpful staff, ready to answer any questions regarding food and beverage options. We ordered from the a la carte menu and all dishes were fantastic. The oysters were fresh and the pickled shrimp and crackers was unique and delicious. I am also a big fan of sour dour bread, so I had to order that, and it was amazing (the butter too). Save some to dunk in the sauces of the main courses. The duck ribs were my favorite dish of the evening, tender, flavorful, the meat slide right off the bone. For mains, we ordered the roast chicken and the Roasted Skate Wing ‘Piccata, both delicious, fresh and quite large portions. It was a nice touch when the chef (Alex Kemp) delivered the fish dish and explained the proper way to cut it. Lastly, the blueberry frangipane tart was a perfect dessert to the end the meal. The wine and cocktail list is also extensive. I highly recommend reservations, the bar also requires reservations, we arrived about 15 minutes early and enjoyed a cocktail near the hostess stand until our table was ready.
This place exceeded expectations. We ordered a bunch small plates to share. Pickled Shrimp, Green Garlic Escar-Roll, Corn Croquette with Truffles, Hot and Cold Crab, and Smoked Eel Caesar were all tasty and fun dishes. Every bite was delicious. Service was impeccable and friendly. Table by the window offers awesome people watching. My Loup was an all around excellent dining experience. Can't wait to go back.
We opted for the chef’s tasting menu, and it was nothing short of spectacular. Each dish was thoughtfully curated and packed with flavor, and we couldn’t resist adding a few more plates to our order—every bite was worth it! The restaurant has a cool, unpretentious vibe that makes you feel at home. The staff were not only attentive but also incredibly fun and cool, which made the evening even more enjoyable.
Atmosphere - there is a ton of energy in the place due to how busy it is. Tables full of chatter, a bar with two bartenders churning out constant drinks, music overhead, and a dark but homey ambiance decorating the walls. My Loup feels exciting, and for good reason Service - our server was excellent; she was personable and provided great recommendations when we asked. Plates were cleared shortly after we finished, and the table was always kept clean as we waited for the next course. Top notch Food - the star of the show, did not disappoint. The menu is small, but everything on it is quality. It’s eclectic enough that you can feel adventurous, but there are plenty of elevated classics on there as well. Two small plates and two large plates were perfect for two people, the dessert had us stuffed. Plates are generally meant to be shared, and everything was cooked perfectly. We didn’t have a single bad bite Drinks - they have a small collection of house cocktails and a modest wine list. Both of our cocktails were stunning, and fit the vibe of the food by being a little bit different but still very familiar Price - it is an expensive meal but it felt pretty fair for the quality of the experience. Expect about $100 per person if you go for a full course meal Overall, an amazing dining experience through and through. Great for small groups between 2-4, but you’ll have to make your reservation far in advance. You won’t get an intimate date night here, but you will get an experience you’ll remember if you’re passionate about good food
Delicious meal and terrific atmosphere. Staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. Highlight was probably the branzino and they were able to make it without pork which was so nice. The pickled shrimp and roast beef fries were also unique and great. Bonus they let us try the soft serve after we showed interest. Recommend to try my loup at least once.
Really liked this place! We did the Let Us Cook for You menu. The cold seafood platter was one of the best assorted seafood platters I've had. All of the seafood was fresh and flavorful. We also had the pickled shrimp with aioli and saltines that was very good. The cold roast beef that you wrap with fries would not have been something I would have picked on my own, but it was a winner. The chef obviously knows more than me. The only thing that was good, but not great, was the half roast chicken. And the desert patery with ice cream (not sure of the exact name) was excellent. Not easy to get a res here, but definitely worth the effort.
Came in for the chef’s tasting menu and was blown away by unique flavors, ingredient pairings, and unique presentation. While the menu indicates four courses, the amount of plates delivered left me sated and stuffed. The Pickled Shrimp, Aioli & Saltines is a special thing and so inventive. Cold Roast Beef, Celeriac Remoulade, Fries presents as a super fun to eat item wherein ingredients are rolled up in the beef and dipped in the sauce. The desserts were divine. Top these things off with attentive and helpful service and the whole experience is one not to be missed.
Verdict: Highly Recommend What an absolute treat! We had the tasting menu and were met with fresh seafood and amazingly thought out food. We were also met with an obscene amount of food, which was pretty worth it! If they ask you if you have a specific item you’d want to be included in your tasting, PLEASE GET THE BONE MARROW. Our server was great and we were paced really well. The drinks were really good too. If you have the time, do the tasting menu. Hoping to try it again soon if we do manage to get a table again.
We ordered the scallops, amberjack, foie gras (pictured), chicken, and trout. All delicious and prepared really well.
Don't eat lunch before you go! An amazing spot for creative cocktails, inspired starters and entrees. Desserts weren't my favourite but I was stuffed on amazing food by then anyway. Very attentive staff.
We have had two excellent meals at My Loup. Above all, the hospitality is incredible. You want the staff to be your best friends and parents at the same time. Couldn’t say enough good things about our server in particular, who is also in charge of the wine program. All the recommendations he’s made have been spot on.
Really delicious food. The plating might not be the fanciest, but each element is essential to the dish. If the lettuce were removed from the crab, or the basil missing from the pickle jar, then the dish would be lacking something. Even the hardboiled egg adds texture. In my opinion, that’s the point that a creation is “complete”. No extraneous components. The flavors are strong yet balanced. The aioli’s super garlicky yet doesn’t overpower the shrimp. The dishes have plenty of acidity for brightness, yet nothing screams sour. My Loup also achieves balance by playing around with contrasts: hot and cold, creamy and crunchy. Good stuff. Service and atmosphere are wonderful. Waitstaff were really helpful in deciding what to order. I hear they’ll help tailor your meal if you go for the carte blanche.
Absolutely loved our experience at My Loup. We started our evening here off with a some amazing crafted cocktails, all of which had great flavor and balance. We then had a plate of fresh oysters with various dips and sauces. These were some of the best oysters I’ve ever had. For our main courses we had duck, steak, and fish, all of which were fantastic. All top notch preparation and presentation. I would absolutely recommend visiting My Loup for a unique and exceptional dining experience.
When The New York Times included My Loup in its 2023 list of the 50 best restaurants in the United States, and Eater named it one of the twelve best new restaurants in the nation, you go!! I agree with these experts. My Loup is a French restaurant that opened in May 2023. The culinary team is led by chefs and life partners Amanda Shulman and Alex Kemp. The menu at My Loup is eclectic and ever-changing. These chefs are creative and seasonal. My faves were the pickled shrimp served with aioli and Saltines and beautifully prepared seafood options like sea bass. delicious! Very much enjoyed this menu.
Excellent meal and a lot of thought put into this menu (not just a cheese board and meats!). We got the tasting menu and it did not disappoint. I loved the pork cheeks, and the croquettes were also very well prepared. Best restaurant I've been to in a while, looking forward to another visit!
Wow! We had an incredible experience at My Loup! Our meal was absolutely delicious. The drinks, service, and atmosphere were top notch as well. Laura, Noah, Dimitri, and Emma took great care of us and we had a blast. And the restaurant logo is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. I got a My Loup hat and I wear it all the time. We will definitely be back!
Unmatched seafood plate it was amazing! We also got the striped bass and the cold roast beef fries. Everything was so amazing, I highly recommend if you’re a seafood lover!
A terrific, seasonal menu that made our mouths water! Highlights were the razor clam, then small plates of morels and cold beef frite. Nice wine list, easy to navigate and sublime desserts. Service was top notch and I may be in love with the bartender! She knocked it out of the park! Cocktails were wonderful.
An amazing little spot in Philly! So glad we were able to get a reservation. The food, from start to finish, was amazing. From the fluke to the duck, every bite was delicious, well thought out, and creative. Cocktails were immaculate (highly recommend the Montreal). Vibes were off the chart. As soon as we walked in, it was inviting, warm, and welcoming. The service was also phenomenal and I truly encourage you to make a reservation asap!
We sat at the bar table and it was a vibe. Very busy as a fine dining spot, but I got the hype! They change menu daily based on what is fresh. * Sea Urchin, Sweet Potato 🌟 They mashed sea urchin and sweet potato into a creamy mixture, and delicately poured it into a sea urchin shell. Breadcrumbs were added for extra crunch and texture. I appreciated the creativity of flavors and presentation of this starter. * Green Garlic Escar-roll 🌟 MY FAVORITE of the night or maybe even in the entire Philly trip. It was a brioche roll soaked in green garlic sauce packed with chunks of escargot, topped with shredded cheese. So so soooo buttery. A tasty match made in heaven. * Duck Breast, Kumquats, Beets My friend’s favorite! Perfectly cooked meat with a golden crispy skin and pinkish center. The kumquats and beets were some delightful sides to dip with the sauce. * Littleneck Clams, Fennel, Kielbasa, Vermouth The saltiness from fennel sausages and briny taste of the clams blended pretty well tgt. It came with French fries with malt vinegar aioli which we really enjoyed。 * Banoffee Pie Eclair 🌟 I am a sucker for banoffee pies and this eclair version was incredible. It featured a choux pastry shell filled with layers of toffee cream, sliced bananas, and whipped cream. I wish this could be on the menu forever so I could order it again. * Rosemary Fig Highball A rosemary-forward mocktail. Very refreshing and appetizing to pair with our meal.
We were very grateful that despite us making a snafu with our reservations, they were able to accommodate us! Thank You! Thank you! The ambience was NOT hoity-toity. It was a nice casually relaxed lit Zen ambience. The staff attentively ebbed and flowed seemingly effortlessly throughout the space to their patrons. Never have I ever thought I would be enjoying cuisine while various tunes jammed soft in the background such as Indeep’s “Last Night a DJ Saved My Life“ We took on the Let Us Cook. The bread came out, loved the sponginess, great crust; spectacular with their butter and those butter pickle chips! The next course was The pickled shrimp with aioli and a bit of basil on those saltine crackers; alongside an ample seafood tray. Everything super fresh! Each individual item on the seafood tray was good. The mussels creation abit too much vinegar? Maybe they wanted to fight with the pickled shrimp? We just cleansed our palettes between each item with our bread. Try some of that horseradish on your raw oysters! Can I say how I desperately wanted to crook my pinky finger sophisticated while demurely sipping my adorable little Bloody Mary shot with the cornichon pickle? The MOST MEMORABLE was the sea urchin! THIS was our favorite! From this point on, whenever I think of sea urchin, this creamy delicacy will pop into mind! Our next course, several plates: a chilled dish of thinly sliced roast pork with bits of slivered crunchy celery a sprinkle of capers and a side of hot fries…devoured. A crab crueller. The mini clams casino with broccoli… delish(how the broccoli seemed a concentrated intensity without overwhelming the clams casino? Yes I noticed...I enjoyed that!) Next course: braised rabbit with preserved summer tomatoes with a side of rice. If the food runner didn’t tell me that these little mini tomatoes were preserved, I would have mistaken them for fresh! The rabbit was tender(not gamey). Each little tomato I took in were like warm bursts of sunshine making me yearn for summer! Phew! Our server presented the dessert menu. We went for the citrus trifle and the chocolate cake. The citrus trifle was intense lemon-orange olive oil cake..it came for your tastebuds! The chocolate cake DON’T YOU DARE UNDERESTIMATE!! For ME It was the sophisticated rico-suave enigma…I was very pleasantly shocked! This is not your cliche chocolate cake. You a chocolate cake fan? Journey here and get this! We waddled off super full of food and great memories! Advice…if you partake My Loup’s LET US COOK, do not eat anything prior(skip your lunch, perhaps have a nibble for breakfast.) The food was great, but the food can’t carry itself! The most AWESOME SERVICE EVER! It is the pinnacle of what a team service should be! From the host and managers to the food runners the bartenders! You wanna know how to have servers run a restaurant proper go to My Loup and check it out! This humble patron thanks you! Y’all go here! my pictures will not do the food any justice. PS: a week later was still talking about the food.
Gorgeous, clean, vivacious... the staff was so cordial and fun and exciting and they just seemed so HAPPY. Everyone was cracking jokes, it felt like a weird fun little extended family meal where the family is just full of people who make insanely delicious food and drinks. I need to go back like.... every day.
First time visitor, the service was exceptional; attentive and friendly staff. Cozy, warm vibe in the atmosphere and a delicious culinary experience.
I think I just found the best new restaurant of the year (so far) at My Loup 🔥 An effortless array of entrees that's comfort/daring/flavorful all at the same damn time! There's something for everyone and it's definitely a place you're going to wanna go back to again! Believe the hype. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We had one of the most memorable meals in a long while at My Loup in Philly. Chefs and life partners Alex Kemp and Amanda Shulman have gotten national attention for the uber farm to table fine dining spot, and for good reason. The food is fun, delicious, and wonderfully presented. For our group, the meal was served family style - an unusual format for fine dining, but it worked so well. 4 courses, all amazing. It's a difficult reservation to snag, but worth the effort. And we had the family with us - a very special evening.
🎉 CONGRATS on your newest spot🚨to PHILLY's 👊 greatest power couple Amanda Shulman & Alex Kemp🥂 And congrats @myloup.phl on being in @nytimes ' Best 50 restaurants in America 📖 Such an AMAZING spot. Each dish was incredible: super fresh with rich & creative flavors. Must-go! _________ Honestly, when we walked by the entrance, we almost missed it! The entrance is so unassuming and decor felt so homey 🏠 We didn't expect it at all 😲 We celebrated my boyfriend's mom's birthday here 🎉 and it was just the perfect spot. Their years of experience + Canadian/French cuisine truly shines ✨ Few things to KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: ✅book on @resy - open Mondays to Fridays (set alerts at least 2 weeks back.. that's what we did) ✅ menu changes DAILY based on what is fresh. What you see in this video may not be available a week or two later ✅ come with an openness to creativity & fresh seafood/meats. Dishes are decadent & rich ✅ great for dates & celebrations but I (& they) recommend coming in larger parties so you can try everything! ✅ Ask questions! The dishes have creative names 😂 make sure to ask what they are and sizes. Everything is different and we ended up getting stuff we didn't initially think about. The staff are SUPER nice WHAT WE GOT (everything was incredible): Cocktails Apps - Sour sour dough - Fluke Crudo with bacon - Green garlic Escargot Roll Mains - Lobster - Trout on Clam chowder Dessert (all 4): - Pear & Frangipane tart - Caramel apple profiterole - Chocolate cake - Grape & Olive Oil Soft Serve Follow for more @biteswithbessy on Instagram
Absolute top experience. We did the tasting and pairing. Every dish we had was incredible and the service was some of the best. They were fun knowledgeable and added to the overall experience. Would absolutely come back and a must try place.
Oh my Loup! What an absolute treat. They treat you like family, they’re not over the top, yet they’re amazing and exceed all expectations. Alex amazes in the kitchen, Neil runs the restaurant like a well oiled machine, and Jill absolutely ROCKS the cocktails. And what a wine list…you can’t go wrong. While the menu changes daily, some highlights of the meal: Fluke crudo- melt in your mouth and the clam-mayo is that extra over the top Beef tartare- so flavorful, the grilled mushrooms are the perfect char to add and the crispy fries are absolute perfection Seared foie gras- while a very small portion, it’s savory on top of French toast and umami carrots..what a surprising balance Halibut with creamed corn- must get! The sweet corn is the perfect combination with the brown butter. The fish is flakey and cooked perfectly. Can’t skip dessert! Totally get the apple pie sundae. Weirdest and most amazing thing you’ll have this fall. Amazing staff. Even better food. Can’t wait to come back!
Had a great experience at My Loup! The staff were knowledgable and incredibly helpful with helping me to enjoy myself as I am gluten free due to celiac disease. They were so accommodating and I will be back!
I ran to write this review. My partner and I had dinner here less than 20 minutes ago and it was the best experience we’ve ever had. The food, the decor, the ambiance, the staff, the drinks, EVERYTHING was incredible. Such a warm, welcoming, fun experience. No detail was left unturned when transforming this space into what it is. I wanna personally shout out our bartender Pete for elevating our experience even farther beyond what it already was; but I could tell just from watching service unfold that every single staff member is so perfectly intertwined in the flow of this establishment. I could go on and on, but if you’re reading this review trying to decide where to have your next night out in Philly, this is the place. Period.
Our first experience at My Loup had some very high and not so high moments. First, the food is DELICIOUS. From the raw bar we had a fluke crudo that was seasoned/dressed in a way that just melted in the mouth, as well as delicate pickled shrimp that was not afraid to be paired with pre-packaged saltine crackers. Dope. We also had 3 small plates that were solid -- ham and cheese croquettes (wish they were a little bigger for the price), clams casino (same thing), and bone marrow that was absolutely amazing on the extra sour sourdough. For dessert we had a wonderful Hazelnut profiterole that capped the meal off perfectly. The drinks were also lovely -- it was my husband's bday so we splurged for the agave vesper, which was like a delicious tequlia martini. So smooth, and yummy (and apparently ethically sourced which is what drives most of the price)! We were mostly happy with the service, but not one person came over to ask how any of our food tasted until after we had finished the plates, and while we did enjoy the fact that all of the small plates were coursed out for us, there was an error with our last plate and we ended up waiting over 20 mins for the correct item to come. There were also several times where we tried to get the attention of our server but they were often talking to the host near the door instead of looking around to see if any guests needed them., The thing we were least happy with was the ambience/table location. We were placed right next to the bar, and for nearly 1/3 of the meal one of the bartenders was cleaning glasses literally one foot away from us (not exaggerating). So in the same way that you feel you have to stop your conversation when a server comes over, every time she came to clean the glasses we felt we had to stop our conversation or she would hear all of it. Also, servers kept coming up right behind me to talk to that bartender and/or grab drinks from her. It's not an exaggeration to say that I felt like servers were on top of us nearly the whole meal, and yet no one was checking in to see how WE were doing (except when the one bartender asked how our $32 cocktail turned out). This summer we had the BEST Philly dining experience of our lives at Her Place Supper Club, and I was expecting more of the same from My Loup. While I won't dock any stars from my review because this place has tons of potential, I would definitely recommend they rethink that table right next to the bar, and I will definitely ask for a seat in the dining room next time.
If only there were more than 5 stars! Our party of 4 all agreed it was one of the best meals we had ever experienced, and that comes from one of our party who has dined in many Michelin starred restaurants in San Sebastián. As an example, unbeknownst to us, the chef was monitoring our order, and felt our meal would be optimized with the addition of a salad, and provided one. Every dish we had was exquisite. The complexity and originality of the sauces, the perfectly prepared halibut, the foie gras mousse, pickled shrimp, crispy skate cheeks - all very different but a completely unified meal. The delicious Cape May oysters even converted non oyster eaters in the group. There is no way to go wrong with anything My Loup provides!
The service was superb. Our server was friendly and attentive without being intrusive, and our drinks were refilled promptly. The ambiance was cozy and relaxed with just the right vibe for date night or catching up with friends.
Drop the mic! This cozy Rittenhouse gem is a must visit! Service, food and ambiance was 5 stars. The food we devoured - sourdough with homemade pickles and this butter, omg the butter, better than I have in Paris. Caviar bite delish, it was on top of a crab cake. Pickled shrimp - MUST GET! crudo was amberjack with beans and Myer lemon - clean, delicate, perfect. Jamon with truffle and celeriac and a Comte sauce - rich, light just amazing, chorizo & lobster stuffed squid with a lobster reduction and spinach - just epic- finally a bitter greens Waldorf - just want was needed after some rich but not overwhelming so dishes. Alyssa or Alissa our bartender was super nice and helpful with our choices - shared a beautiful bottle of wine Chardonnay and sav blanc mix! Must visit!! Philly is such a food scene and this place sits on the top of list - Craig Laban top 10 for a reason! #IYKYK
The food at My Loop was delicious, every dish was thoughtfully prepared and bursting with flavor. We loved the ambiance, it was perfect for catching up with a friend. What really made our visit memorable was our server, who was incredibly personable, kind, and attentive without being overbearing. Their recommendations were spot-on and showed they really knew the menu inside and out. We're already planning our next visit !
My loup is a quaint little cozy spot. The service really shines here. It’s a bit loud for a fine dining spot, but they work with it. We ordered a handful of items and they were all good. The escargot roll is amazing as was the sourdough. My family loved each of the selections. The servers were fun and interactive. They were busy but definitely made you feel like they wanted to be present with you and give an individualized experience. It’s. A tad difficult to find because of its size and because it’s a long thin building. The key lime milk punch was amazing. I’m not usually a fan of gimmick drinks, but this was no gimmick. Just really tasty clear key lime pie flavor! Definitely give it a shot.
Food was good, I felt a little more seasoning would push the dishes to another level. The pickled shrimp was my fave, halibut was good but needed that extra seasoning. Cocktails were good but wanted a bit more from them, both flavor and volume, the bourbon espresso martini could have been twice the size. 17-18 bucks a drink.
Decided to try out My Loup on a brisk Tuesday evening after hearing high praises for months. Overall we had a good time, but a few negatives brought us down to a 4/5 instead of a 5/5. The interior and vibes inside were great, with chic decorations and a relaxing atmosphere. Unfortunately we were seated right behind the host stand and under the heater - resulting in direct blasts of heat on a recurring basis for our table and the other nearby tables. Service was good throughout, however not particularly notable for the price tag. The menu and drink options were very interesting - although I didn't appreciate the high price of some beers which weren't even a draft pour. The food we ordered on the whole was impressive, with the cold roast beef being a clear standout and the highlight of the meal. The halibut we received however was covered in an unappetizingly gloopy sauce, and overall overcooked. The ice cream which was given for free at the end was quite tasty however. Had an interesting time, likely wouldn't return for the cost.
We first visited in October 2023 and had an incredible experience — everything was spot on. The food and drinks were fantastic, service was top notch. The steak with pumpkin , eel Caesar, and fish crudo were true standouts. Unfortunately, when we returned last night (September 2025), the experience was far from the same. The new menu felt underwhelming, and the overall food quality had declined noticeably. We ordered the tuna tartare appetizer, sungold tomato appetizer, and the Escar-roll to start. For mains, we tried the “à la David” chicken and the skirt steak, followed by the Mille-feuille for dessert. The biggest disappointment was the skirt steak. We weren’t asked how we wanted it cooked, and it arrived nearly raw (blue, not even medium rare). The server didn’t check in until later, and when we explained the issue, the steak was taken back. A few minutes later, the same steak returned, reheated in the same jus. Unfortunately, it was still very rare, overly gamey from the reheating, and extremely chewy — inedible, really. We couldn’t finish the steak and informed the server again, but despite the clear issue, we were still charged the full $70 for the dish and seemed like she didn’t even cared about this issue.(The photo attached shows the steak after it was “recooked.”) On the positive side, the chicken was enjoyable, and both the escargot dish and the dessert were highlights of the evening. Still, given our excitement to revisit after such a stellar first experience in 2023, this return was deeply disappointing. Between the service and the food, we left unsatisfied and, sadly, don’t see ourselves coming back and unfortunately had to update my review from 5 stars to 3.
Disappointed experience. Got the $125 per person tasting menu. It started strong but ended very weak. Lamb and snail appetizer were very good but main course (steak, bake potato, and salad) was mediocre at best. They accidentally brought us the break down price receipt. Steak was definitely not worth $150. Service was good. People are nice. But environment/music was way too loud. The bartender was yelling sometimes. Difficult to have a conversation.
I was completely underwhelmed. Maybe all of the hype around this place set my expectations too high, but the only notable of the night was the service. If you’re sitting in the front of the restaurant, despite their efforts to hang additional wind guards, prepare to get gusts of cold air. Onto the food, nothing blew me away, especially for the price. The escar-“roll” and razor clams lacked any interesting flavor and truly seemed like something I could make myself. The chorizo stuffed squid, with lobster was simple. And for the price, I’d at least expect the lobster to melt in my mouth- it was chewy and not note worthy. The most delicious part of the meal was the drinks and the free provided “pup cup” style dessert (due to celebrating a birthday). Due to being unimpressed by the starters we decided to skip mains and go elsewhere.
Food was great, but we were seated near the door, when it was a cold December evening (27 December, 2025). Every time some one entered or exited, we got a cold blast. We asked to be reseated but there were no available except near the door. The restaurant did give us a hot tea on the house, but tea can’t relieve the cold. We shivered through the dinner, tried wearing our outdoor coat, but that was also uncomfortable for indoor wear. The honest thing for the restaurant would have been to not have seats near the door in winter nights, or have heat sources specifically for tables near the door, or issue an advisory beforehand that seats may be cold and customers are advised to bring warm clothings for indoor wear. In hindsight we should have left when they couldn’t reseat us, rather than suffer through an expensive (albeit delicious) dinner.
I’m genuinely confused about the hype surrounding this restaurant. I’m not sure which food writers are being paid, but this place is absolutely not worth the money. A friend and I came for dinner and sat at the bar with a reservation. Instead of ordering à la carte, we opted for the “let us cook” $125 per person menu, which is usually one of my favorite ways to experience a restaurant. Some of the best meals I’ve had have been tasting menus … unfortunately, this was not one of them. Aside from the main dish (a bone-in fish absolutely drowned in sauce), it’s unclear what was actually cooked. Much of the meal consisted of items that felt assembled rather than prepared: beef tartare seemingly priced up because of shaved truffle, sea urchin topped with a small dollop of caviar (again, an attempt to justify the cost), shrimp sitting in oil with aioli served alongside packaged crackers (seriously?!), and French fries straight from the fryer. There was also a Waldorf salad, which was honestly the best dish of the night (though it was plated poorly) and dessert was a very basic ice cream with an orange swirl that felt completely uninspired. Service didn’t help the experience. The bartender was unfriendly, offered no guidance on the menu, and made zero effort to explain the dishes or wines. The only bright spot was the food runner, who was wonderful and attentive. As for atmosphere, there was a homeless man panhandling directly outside. I live in the city, so this isn’t about being sheltered, but if I’m spending nearly $400 for dinner for two, I expect management to be more aware and proactive about the guest experience from start to finish. Overall, this was a huge miss. Overpriced, underwhelming, and nowhere near deserving of the praise it seems to receive.
