A beautiful Resturant with great atmosphere. Had a unique menu. Nice cocktails and flavorful food. Our waitress explained the menu options and provided recommendations. We ordered a variety of dishes mainly from the Social part of the menu. These are bowls that come with rice. The Veggie Stir fry and sushi were amazing! Will definitely be back to sample more options.
First of all, accidentally walked in 5 minutes before the kitchen closed. Bar and kitchen hours not the same. Sam let the hostess know it was ok for him to take us in and proceeded to give some of the best and personable service we've had recently. Food was all delicious and came out exactly how we wanted it and still slightly spaced out. Cocktails were good! Old fashioned and a sake sangria. Bo bim bap wagyu rice bowl was tasty and unique, but the Godzilla sushi roll and Korean short ribs took the win.
Had a wonderful meal here with friends. Amelia was FABULOUS for a server! Loved my Manhattan and the... everything. Great place and we'll be back!
Food, service, and atmosphere 10/10. Can’t wait to come back! The garlic sauce on the sushi was SO good! Firecracker shrimp was amazing but next time I will not get the wasabi sauce— a bit too much for me! Espresso martini was perfect and on the sweeter side which I love! This place is a vibe!
I came here for dinner & had a great experience. This restaurant is larger on the inside than it appears outside, with multiple different sections to sit in by yourself or with a group. My waiter was very helpful explaining the menu to me as a first time patron. I ordered pan fried gyoza, and some sushi. All of it was incredible and visually presented beautifully.
10/10 experience!!!! Everything we ordered (food and drinks) was amazing and we had the best service I’ve had in years (thanks Sam!). Wish I lived in Pittsburgh so I could make this my usual spot! Also the decor was gorgeous!
Been here a few times. Food is amazing! Service is fast and friendly. Never had a bad meal. Definitely would recommend!
Raya was an excellent server. Very helpful. Food was unique and very flavorful. Short ribs, bang bang shrimp and golden curry were all delicious. Place had a funky and fun atmosphere.
This is a lovely restaurant with ambiance. Totally enjoyed our evening there.
We literally stumbled on this place by mistake and decided to just have our girls’ dinner here. It was AMAZING!!! The atmosphere, meals, drinks, and staff were all incredible! This will now be a regular spot for us!!!
We had a fantastic evening here for our 5 year anniversary! We noted it was our anniversary during the reservation and they provided extra services! The manager was interesting. He has that fun, spontaneous and quirky personality. He kept attentive to us as did our waitress Vanessa. We asked for a lit candle and the manager brought us one, then later another to be funny. We laughed as he was just having fun. Our waitress Vanessa was fantastic! She said it was her 3rd day but that could have fooled us. She checked in almost perfectly as to give us time together but also not run out of things. The sushi was very good, the Gyoza was okay, but their dessert, the chocolate cake... By FAR the lightest dessert I've ever tasted! The bill wasn't bad either, I'd recommend going for either Sushi or Thai Food. The atmosphere was really contemporary as well and the music wasn't too loud either! Overall we had a fantastic experience and would recommend!
This place is very cool and the food is absolutely delicious! I had the tonkotsu ramen and my wife had the hamchi crudo. We split a flight of sake and a spicy tuna roll. All of it was top notch. The sushi tasted super fresh. The pork in the ramen was unmatched. It was crispy yet tender. My wife describes it as "12/10" haha. Would highly suggest visiting.
Last night was my second time dining at Social House 7. I had the same waiter as I did the first time and he is truly exceptional at his job! The food was amazing, again. We shared the brussel sprouts as an appetizer, then shared two sushi rolls for dinner, and a banana egg roll for dessert (not on the everyday menu though). If you go, be sure to ask for John! He provides an excellent experience!!
Social House is a positively outstanding restaurant! First discovered during the 2024 Best Bites Downtown and then for a pre-Benedum performance in 4Q 2025, my date and I were so impressed that we returned again on January 3, 2026, also pre-Benedum performace. From engaging and attentive servers (who made great menu recommendations) to well-crafted cocktails to flavorful robata (sat in a booth where we could watch the chefs!) and delicious socials/entrees, Social House 7 delivered an exceptional experience. The atmosphere warm and well designed. Highlights from January 2, 2026 were the Fusion Fashioned, Miso Glazed Salmon and Social House Salmon (see photos). A booth with a viewof the Robata chef added to ths evening. Highly recommend and plan to dine again soon!
Pleasantly surprised by Social House 7! Atmosphere much cooler than I expected- dark and purple lighting, cool intimate cubbies to sit in in the back, front of the restaurant open to air it was beautiful out- although that does allow bugs to fly in). Our server was great! Very friendly, good service, and gave us an extra roll on the house. We ordered vegetable gyoza, a vegetable noodle dish, the Godzilla roll, Crazy Salmon roll, tunarashi, and veggie roll. Ordered a bottle of cab sauv and another person had vodka on the rocks. The Godzilla and Crazy Salmon rolls were very unique and delicious with a smoky flavor, and one almost tasted like a cheeseburger or steak!
Please open a location in Philly 😍 Great food. Great cocktails. Great vibes! Highly recommend!
Excellent all around. The food was amazing, and our server, Amelia, was the best! Be sure to have the fortune cookie for dessert!
Absolutely wonderful place, pricey but worth it. Especially fond of our server Casey, he was absolutely incredible and really elevated our evening! Thank you for a memorable night!
Mia was amazing and so knowledgeable about the menu and helped to make our meal special . Food was great . And the fortune cookie for desert is a must have .
We came from Toronto to watch WWE show and went there for dinner. Sam gave us a great experience and was amazing with my three kids. Sam I am Green eggs and ham
Fabulous restaurant! Fabulous service! Our server Sam was so helpful with recommendations and a smile that lit up the place! The food came out fast and delicious! The vibes fit the night! Definitely will be coming back!
Food was GREAT. I had the short ribs & they were perfect, savory, tender, & good sized portions. We went Sunday loved the food & decor! my only complaint was the servers took forever to bring our meals & seemed overly distracted with other tables. Definitely going back.
I went to this establishment on Sunday evening The short rib yaki was my absolute favorite and the Edamame!!!! Whoever the Chef is in that kitchen, THANK YOU!! There was a great amount of meat, it was so savory, and quite tasty. The server seemed to be super overwhelmed though, didn't have much table side manors. They were a bit rude and took forever to bring our cocktails. However, they had time for other tables. The only thing I can say about the service is maybe they need better training on how to deal with customers. Customer Service should be a big thing in a restaurant, and I was shocked.
Wonderful spot to eat after spending the day downtown. The atmosphere is modern and relaxed. We got the hot sake, the matcha and sunrise cocktails. The spicy edamame and fried gyoza were delicious as were our entrees and sushi. My 8 year old daughter loved her rainbow roll. Lee was our server and they did a wonderful job taking care of us! Can't wait to come back again!
Great staff! Sushi was average. Cocktails good. Golden was good. Nice ambience.
Our first experience eating there was just okay. The ramen was fairly disappointing, and the sushi roll I had was mediocre. The saving grace was the scallops. Our second visit was much better. The pork belly skewer appetizer was perfectly cooked and incredibly flavorful, the steak in the bibimbap was also wonderfully done, and I had probably the best tofu I've ever had there. The outside was crisp but still easy to cut through and the inside was warm and it melted in your mouth.
Great food....service was a good pace...got there at 5:30 and had tickets to the symphony for 7:30. Got there in plenty of time! Though it definitely picked up business in there after 6. Sushi was excellent! We tried the Green Forest Rolls, Shrimp Tempura Rolls & Lobster Tail Rolls. We also tried the Pork Belly Skewers &the Wok Charred Rice Cakes. Plenty of food for two people!
Wonderful atmosphere, staff, and food. Staff was extremely friendly and very knowledgeable of the menu items. Food was unique and flavorful. I docked 1 star for a few reasons: the chairs are uncomfortable to sit in (if you want to lean back or even touch the back of the seat) and needed a bit of maintenance, while the sake list is extensive there isn't a single sparkling sake, the floors are difficult to walk on in heels (slick and uneven), and while beautiful, the bathrooms need some maintenance as well (door locks and missing tiles) and a better method to dry off hands after washing.
Great food, great atmosphere, and experienced bartenders. The only negative things I would say are that the rice (with the salmon) was on the undercooked side and the wait was a little longer than I would have liked, but the restaurant was packed (why we ended up at the bar) so I’m sure that was the cause. Perfectly cooked salmon and overall a great experience.
The atmosphere in Social House 7 is extremely cool, very unique. Wait staff was also great. The food was also delicious. Probably some of the best sushi I’ve ever had and the noodles were so good. The only real disappointment was one of the most average old fashions I’ve ever had for $17. If it was $9, it wouldn’t even be part of this review and it would be a 5 star review. But for $17, you better be doing that well, especially when the prices aren’t listed on the drinks menu.
Great Space for Eating and Meeting. I stopped into Social House Seven for drinks and food with business colleagues during a recent visit to Pittsburgh. We had all just flown in and checked into our hotels and were looking for a good place to eat. Our of our group had been here before and recommended the place. The restaurant has amazing interior designs, high-quality Robata grilled meats, and we shared some savoury appetizers, and I had one of the house Ramens, the Tonkotsu Ramen for my main course. It was good evening with great food and I would eat here again the next time I'm in Pittsburgh.
Its very unique atmosphere and service was very good, kind, and helpful. Here is why I am giving 4 stars for the food.. We came here strictly for “Crispy Rice” that we were only able to find in Social House 7 menu throughout Pittsburgh area. Upon our arrival, server informed that they do not carry that on their menu anymore (even though their menu had it listed, so update is recommended, therefore people’s hope don’t go down like ours) due to new chef said it is a lot of work to make it, prep it etc.. My suggestion is that, you are a unique, fancy vibe giving restaurant, why not continue being different and carry the things that rest of the restaurant on your level don’t have??? Overall, their spicy tuna was very fresh, however not much taste/spice on the fish.
The food quality was quite good, the atmosphere was quite charming and I noticed other diners looking around at the decor just like we were. Took some time to get our non alcoholic drinks but beyond that a very nice place to relax with friends to have a good meal.
We treated a friend for her birthday. We wanted to sit at a booth but was told they were all reserved. We were there for many hours and those booths were not filled while we were there. The service was good and the atmosphere was nice. However if you’re coming for the food, which is most important this is not the place. My wings were so charred I sent them back and picked something different. We had multiple dishes and nothing had any real flavor to it. Everything was bland. It was also hard to find parking.
The food wasn’t good at all. Doesn’t live up to the hype. The fried rice is so bad we couldn’t eat it at all. Salad was just alright. The fish was alright. The octopus was too rubbery. The sushi was bad. Edamame was bad too. It was a bday dinner so they got us one complementary dessert which was tasty. The drink was good. And yes, service was good too. Our server was very friendly.
Food is delicious. Service satisfactory. Portions are definitely a serving size. No doggy bags here.
I really wanted to love it, but the food wasn’t as good as it looks. I’d say Social House 7 is the Buddakan/Tao of Pittsburgh but lower quality food & service wise. The cocktails were delicious but all tasted (and felt) like zero proof cocktails. The best part of our meal was probably the spicy edamame appetizer lol we came for our last dinner of 2023, we wanted to try a new place before hosting our NYE party and we ended up being late to our own party because the service was so slow. I’m guessing it was an off night due to the holiday but I feel like there weren’t enough people working for how many tables they were seating? No clue but we had to order two rounds of drinks at once because they took forever to come out. I will say the atmosphere is awesome though so it was still a good time. I’d come back to have drinks at the bar. Super cute!
Sushi was good. Ramen was super salty. Lo mein was ok but not lo mein noodles. Service was slow. Way too expensive for portions/ quality.
I liked the setting, decore etc. It was my son's birthday however and I made a point of it upon entering on a Saturday night . The staff seemed in a hurry to get the floor ready for a private event. We got our intitial appetizers on time but they forgot to bring our meal as the waitress took off to go get changed for the event while "telling" someone else to take care of us. After a lengthy wait when she arrived, we had to remind her that we were still waiting. Since we had 2 minors with us. we felt rushed to eat the meal and get out by 9. Nothing was done for my son's birthday either which was disappointing. For the price that's been charged for meals and drinks I would've expected better service and would staff to acknowledge someone's special days. I would not pick this place again for a dinner.
If you are looking for a vibe this is a place to take good photos, sit and have a drink. The food is not work the price and the flavor was not there. The price of the cocktails were high and the alcohol content was low. Service was good but the food was very slow to come out. I would not go back.
The atmosphere was excellent. The place is beautiful and the service was prompt. The food was just not what I was expecting. I expected to be hit with massive flavor bombs and it just did not happen. It was not bad at all it just wasn't very memorable. The food was lacking in flavor and the portions are rather small. The Bi Bim Bap had two very small strips of Wagyu that were delicious, the rest I could have lived without. The short ribs yaki was good but also a bit bland and the meat was sparse. The Tonkotsu noodles were slightly underdone and the portion was smaller than expected but otherwise ok. The sushi was really good and average sized. The desserts sounded delightful so we tried every one. The fortune cookie was ok. The description says it is filled with mousse and there were only two small dollops. The crème brûlèe was very bland. The tuxedo cake was really good but not extravagant by any means.
If you're coming mostly for food I really wouldnt recommend coming here. The service was good and I assume late nights it has a nice vibe but the food itself was extremely bland, it felt like in each dish they just forgot to add seasoning. Also I ordered the seasonal creme brulee and the waitress said it was so bland she took the liberty of adding some sauce for me, and while I appreciated the thought this was emblematic of the rest of the food too.
After eating here i understand the reviews. The food looks like it was made by a child. Just look at my fried tofu and dumplings. Also 14$ for some terrible gyoza, and only 4 of them??? The only good thing i had was a tempura roll, and even that looked like it was made by an unskilled hand. I only ate here because i was really hungry and tired and it was beside me. The mocktail was pretty good. The restaurant was full with middle aged and old people that early had no idea what japanese food is like
My recent experience at Social House 7 in Pittsburgh, PA, was nothing short of disappointing. Despite having high hopes for an enjoyable evening, the poor service from the bartenders, slow food service, and exorbitant prices left me with a sour taste in my mouth. Let's start with the bartenders' service, which was far from satisfactory. My friends and I waited at the bar for what felt like an eternity, a full five minutes, just to be acknowledged. It's not unreasonable to expect a timely greeting and a bit of attention from the bartenders, especially considering the prices they charge for their drinks. Unfortunately, this was just the beginning of our frustrations. To add insult to injury, we ordered Belvedere vodka, expecting a certain level of quality given the price point. However, it became apparent that we were being served Tito's vodka instead. When we received the bill, we were shocked to find that we had been charged $10 for Belvedere, a clear misrepresentation of the product. When we politely pointed out this discrepancy to the bartender, she insisted that she had served us Belvedere. It was disheartening to witness such dishonesty and a blatant attempt to overcharge customers. The slow food service only compounded our dissatisfaction. We waited for what seemed like an eternity for our sushi dishes to arrive at our table. Given that Social House 7 is known for its sushi, we expected the food to be a highlight of our dining experience. Unfortunately, the delay in service detracted from our overall enjoyment, and by the time our food arrived, we were already disheartened by the other aspects of our visit. Considering the poor service, inaccurate drink charges, and slow food service, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend Social House 7 to anyone seeking a pleasant dining experience in Pittsburgh. With so many other excellent sushi restaurants in the area, there are plenty of better options available. Save your time and money and explore other dining establishments in the city that prioritize customer satisfaction and honesty in their service. Social House 7, with its extreme prices and horrible service, falls far short of the mark.
We came here to celebrate a birthday. Our reservations were for 7 people at 7PM. We got there maybe a minute or two after. There was no table ready. We had to wait 15+ minutes for a table to be cleared. There were groups walking in after who were seated right away. Our table was right beside the entrance. Everyone at the table was cold. The double door entry is open at the top so every time someone would come in or out we were blasted with cold air. There was a spot on the booth seating that was broken. It was so dark where we were you couldn't read the menu. The service was terribly slow. I don't know if Our waitress was the only one working, but she didn't come around much. We ordered drinks. Two of the glasses were filthy and sticky. The water glasses on the table weren't much better. It didn't feel clean. One of the meals was labeled a mid-spicy and it was inedible. Good flavor but certainly not mid-spice. Another meal was ordered with waygu. It was a chipped beef, not slices. For something that was nearly as expensive as the meal, I was expecting more. The portions were good, but way overpriced. We were so excited to try this place and left disappointed.
Made a reservation for 6pm on a Tuesday. Got the CONFIRMATION TEXT on Monday at 4pm for the following day—texted we would still be there, got the “Great!…your table will be ready…”. Showed up for our reservation just to find out the place is CLOSED. Disappointing :(
Genuinely the worst dining experience of my life. We usually go before seeing shows at the Benedum, after last night 10/8 we will never go back. We didn’t even have a server, so we had to go up to the host and ask if they can put in our order. Then we waited 40 minutes for a cocktail. Every table around us that sat after us were served before us and had drinks steady brought to their table. Someone at my table got the short rib noodle dish, we THINK we saw one singular shred of short rib. This place operates like a chain restaurant but just so happens to be downtown. Deeply disappointing experience.
The five us agreed this was one of the worst restaurants we have ever eaten at. My stir-fry portion was very small but when I tasted it, I didn't even care about the size because it was inedible. My friends also tasted it and said it was gross. I had to get another cocktaill because there were fruit flies in it! My daughter said she has had better sushi from the grocer store. We are not picky and it was truly one of the worst dining experiences we have ever had. The bill was $279 for five people and only three of us had a cocktail and we did not order any appetizers. It was a horrible experience and we were all hungry afterwards.
This place is truly horrible - bad food and unhygienic. Least flavorful Japanese food I’ve ever had, I had Brussels sprouts and robata wings, I think the food was reheated. I saw a mouse run across the counter. Service was slow - for drinks! And I think the drinks were very diluted. Decor is weird. I don’t know how this place can continue to be operational. One of those places that only look good. Do not recommend at all.
I do not leave reviews often. Last night was the worst dining experience of my life. I've laughed about it with multiple people today about how horrible my dining experience was at this place. This wasn't my first time at social house. It used to be fantastic. This place maybe has good food and may have good service. but if you're looking to be sure of a good night out, pick somewhere else. Waiting 30 min for a server and main dishes coming out 20 min separated.... Then getting a full check after asking to cancel or box your unarrived dish. 1/10. Again so bad I had to post
