I absolutely love this place. We stopped in not knowing what to expect, and we were blown away. I had the snozzberry pancakes, and they were so delicious that I still can't stop thinking of them.I was skeptical about ordering pancakes because I thought, "They are only pancakes, how good could they be?" They were honestly the best pancakes I've ever had. My other half got the breakfast club, and it was delicious! The breakfast potatoes are out of this world. The service was amazing, and they kind of tag-team when others are busy. The beer was delicious, too. Thank you for a great experience. We can't wait to come back!
The Yard is a great place to get some delicious food anytime. With lots of tv's to watch sports on it has a great atmosphere. With a large bar and an expansive beer menu they have you covered on anything you want to drink. We had Mac and cheese balls which were delicious. We followed that up with a Pittsburgh salad and a burger. Tasted great and was awesome. Come on down to the yard you won't be dissapointed.
Out of the many gastropubs that have been popping up, this has been my favorite! The menu is diverse in both food, beer, and cocktails. They have daily and monthly drink specials, the monthly beer special is a great way to try a certain brewery. The food is fantastic tasting and is a great value for the price. The atmosphere is fresh and fun. Great location with lots of parking.
First time at The Yard, and very pleased with experience. I would recommend this place to others, and hopefully sooner than later will return to try other items on their menu. The place was beautiful inside clean the waiter was amazing the only reason I didn't give the atmosphere a five-star review is because I felt all eight of us eating at our table keeping our coats on because it was pretty damn cold in there made it slightly a little bit more irritating uncomfortable of an atmosphere.
Went to The Yard for dinner last night after a wait-list washout elsewhere. What a good decision. The best way to explain the food selection is boujee basics - aka give that white girl a grilled cheese and tomato soup pronto! For apps we had pretzels, mac balls and wings. The bros got some burgers and the gals got upscale grilled cheeses. Would definitely go back.
Gourmet grilled cheese... They aren't kidding! I got the buffalo mac grilled cheese and it was spot on. Super cheesy, and great flavor. The homemade chips were really good too. I splurged on dessert and was glad I did. Another great dish! Service was fast and friendly. A must go spot if you're in the area.
First time at The Yard and I thought it was absolutely delicious! I got the Mac bites and a bacon cheeseburger, all of it was delicious. The waiter was very attentive and helpful. The decor is pretty cool to look at as well. Overall a very great experience! Will definitely be going again someday soon! Thank you for reading my review I hope it helps you and your family!! Please like!
Came to The Yard for brunch and bottomless mimosas with my favorite people. We got Mac Attacks's Balls (deep fried Mac n cheese balls) and chicken and waffle sliders (drool). Everything was delish. Our waitress was amazing. Very friendly and kept those mimosas coming. Highly recommend The Yard, and their Brunch Menu. Edit: added 3 more pics because we went back today. Try the Sangria! You’ll love it!
2019 - First time - 3 stars. Ordered the Philly cheese steak grilled cheese and the truffle flatbread. Both were very good. The tomato soup was very good. What was not any good were any of the potato items we tried both the home fries and the chips. Both were over cooked - no they were burnt. We asked for new chips and got another bowl of burnt chips. So 0 stars for the chips, home fries and fries. Nothing was actually hot. 2022 - Second time - 5 stars. Ordered the fried pierogi appetizers, always sunny in philly grilled cheese with waffle fries and caprese grilled cheese with tots. The fried pierogi were excellent the included sour cream dip not so much. I asked our server Charlie if we could try the beer cheese instead. Beer cheese is the perfect complement to salty, potato, crispy texture of the fried perogies. Skip the sour cream. I love restaurants that allow to change the menu. Both grilled cheese were excellent. Plus both tots and waffle fries were excellent. All our food was served hot. I'm so glad they have worked out all their original issues we will be back. 2024 - Third time - 5 stars. We started with a Sangria and a Tito's mule, both were very good. Then we had a smash burger and the mother of dragons. Both were excellent. The sides of waffle fries and tots were excellent. The only let down was the coleslaw - too much raw mayo flavor. However another excellent meal. Service was good. Prices were good.
The top thing to go for at this place is a dessert- a peanutbutter and banana stuffed texas toast that is dipped in batter, fried, then covered with chocolate and marshmallow they torch the top of like a s'more. It's called an "I ordered this while I was high!" 🤩 you need this!
Amazing restaurant with terrific food and fast service. Did not need a reservation but my visit was in the evening on a weekday so it wasn't incredibly busy. The poutine was delicious and they have a grilled cheese sandwich with Mac and cheese that is scrumptious 😋 The drinks were great! I will certainly visit again soon.
Truly the epitome of “comfort food.” Come hungry, because with the sandwiches are stuffed so the portions are pretty large. If you have any room left, dessert will knock you out. The atmosphere is fun, open, and groovy. Murals are cool. Food presentation is great, if you’re into that sort of thing. No shortage of beer & sports if you’re into that sort of thing instead!
I went here for brunch on a Sunday. It wasn't too busy when we arrived, but the place poppin' when we left. The asthetic and atmosphere of the place was wonderful. I got the fancy pancakes here and they were delicious! Honestly my favorite pancakes ever. Our server was also friendly and attentive to our needs. I would definitely eat there again!
The place was awesome, and the prices and food were great. My server/bartender was a super chill guy. Gave me some interesting info and lore about the area. The fried pierogies and Philly cheesesteak grilled cheese sandwiches are dope af. Will certainly return if I come back to the area. Cheers.
The Yard was a fantastic place to dine. The appetizers were on point and the main dishes were amazing as well. Perfect blend of texture and flavors! I’ll be back!
Fantastic grilled cheese sandwhish! Good beer selection. Reasonable prices! Highly suggest a visit! If you like beer and cheese you'll be in heaven if not I'm sure you can find something else to consume lol it's big and freindly and beautiful. They have all day brunch on sundays "bottomless" mimosas and bloody marrys. The mac attack ball's are yummy and they come with this fantastic slightly spicy sauce.
Wow wow wow WOW!!!!!! The Yard is a glutinous dream come true. I had the mother of dragons 🐉 grilled cheese and it was spectacular!! I was a HUGE fan of the diced jalepenos and the way the whole thing came together. The tomato soup really sends the whole thing over the top since it was so delicious to begin with it really adds another layer of complexity. Come for a grilled cheese grab a beer, enjoy your time at The Yard.
The food was great and our server was fast, attentive, and friendly. I got the Cheesy Caprese with Mac n Cheese and Tomato Soup. My friend got some sort of pancake sandwich thing with chorizo, eggs and cheese. Overall, great meal👍🏼
Got the Yard Burger, which was very tasty. Good quality beef! Plus my wife has eats gluten free, and there were several menu items to choose from
I have recently started becoming a regular at this location! I moved here from the East side of Pittsburgh not too long ago, and The Yard is conveniently located less than 10 minutes away from me. Each time I have come, the staff is very prompt with their greetings and the service is quick. I have only tried a few menu items, but I have yet to have any qualms about it! Everything tastes fresh and the variety of the menu is very inviting! Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a lively ambiance and overall good, tasty food!
I met my family here after Black Friday shopping and we were so pleased with our experience. The service was amazing and the Walking Ched was to die for. Not to mention the Christmas decor is so well thought out and a great addition to the restaurant. We'll definitely be coming back
The yard is a popular place with trendy industrial decor, good pub food and a large number of craft beers on tap. Service is great and atmosphere is casual and laid back. However this particular visit wasn't flawless. My steak was overcooked but otherwise the salad was great.
stopped in for lunch with my mom. we got the pub pretzels, flatbread for her, a burger for me and we took a flatbread home. multiple TVs by the bar area. They were playing NHL playoffs on most of the TVs and a cartoon on one of them. i’m not a huge fan of mac and cheese but decided to try it here and i loved it! went around the middle of the day and the place was practically empty. service was a tiny bit slow but nobody was there so i’m not sure why it was a little slow. I tried to go to the downtown one but couldn’t find parking. I definitely want to go back! So many options!
The Yard An American Gastropub located at 670 Chauvet Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15275: On September 18, 2024, I attended the Robert Morris University MBA Social titled MBA Social Art and Entrepreneurship held at The Yard An American Gastropub. The event, which took place in one of The Yard’s private rooms, was a great kick-off for Fall 2024, bringing together graduates from RMU’s Rockwell School of Business to connect, share ideas, and build relationships. Atmosphere: The private room provided a cozy and welcoming environment for networking, with ample space for mingling and casual conversation. The room had a rustic, industrial-chic vibe, featuring exposed brick walls, wooden tables, and modern lighting, which added to the laid-back ambiance. There was a good energy throughout the event, and the venue had a unique and inviting feel. Food and Drinks: The Yard served a delicious spread of food and drinks. The buffet included a variety of items from salad to appetizers, and everything was well-presented. The quality of the food was great, and it complemented the lively atmosphere of the social. Drink specials, including $3 drafts, were a nice touch and added to the overall value. Service: The staff was attentive and ensured the event ran smoothly. Food and drinks were replenished promptly, and they did a good job of keeping the area tidy throughout the evening. The service was consistent and friendly. Overall Experience: The Yard provided an excellent setting for the MBA social, with a good balance of food, drinks, and space to foster connections. The venue’s warm atmosphere and attentive staff contributed to the overall success of the event. I would recommend The Yard for similar gatherings or social events. The only area for improvement would be offering a wider variety of food options for larger groups.
Very good food and a much larger restaurant than we realized. From the parking lot, we were concerned there would be a long wait for a table, but there were plenty of open tables. Even if the parking lot seems pretty full, park and check it out! I think a lot of people leave assuming it's packed when it's not. The food (with the exception of the one sandwich that had all the meat on one side and the other toppings on the other) was very good and the service was wonderful, though our waitress was new. They changed the chips (or perhaps this location never had the selection of chip flavors they offered in the Galleria all the times we ate there) and as a result the seasoning actually stays on the chips. I think they could have used a bit more seasoning, but they were very good and fresh. The soup was good, too and the beer/cider selection and happy hour deals were nice. I definitely recommend trying The Yard if you love grilled cheese. They seem to have fewer choices than before, but they still have a ton.
The waiter was a little bit slow with replenishing drinks, but even that wasn't so bad. We had a great meal (8 in total) and everyone enjoyed their food. Not sure what the rest paid, but my 8 wins cost me $12 so they were a bit on the pricey side as were the drinks
Great spot for a craft sandwich and a craft beer. This place has a unique gourmet grilled cheese concept with lots of creative grilled cheese sandwiches to choose from and are served with homemade chips and tomato soup but you can substitute for other things for an upcharge. They also have other things wings, burgers, and flatbreads. Over 30 craft beers on tap to pair with your grilled cheese. Last time I tried the Shadyside location and got the keilbasa pierogie sandwhich and really enjoyed it. This time I went with the "patty mayonnaise" sandwhich which is basically like a patty melt. They did forget the white cheese sauce it was supposed to come with and the sandwhich was very greasy but overall ok. Definitely add this to your place to try if you haven't the sandwiches are very creative.
The Yard is just as advertised, a noisy, raucous sports bar with an interestingly quirky menu. Strongly featuring grilled cheese in a wide variety of forms the menu also has soups, salads, burgers and such. Located in a maze of stores and restaurants, there is plenty of parking. We went in for dinner on a Friday night. We were immediately seated with confusion on who would be our server. And the lovely young lady who became our servers was critical in rescuing our dinner experience. We both opted on salads with grilled chicken. They came in less than 10 min, served in interesting metal bowls with dressing in two small containers on the side. I had ordered a Berry Nut salad and about halfway through I realized there were no berries or nuts in the salad. When I pointed that out to the server, she said all the right words, hustled to the kitchen and returned with servings of berries and nuts to add to the salad. And comped half the price when the bill came. So I added the comped amount to her tip. We had a nice meal. Not remarkable but how the Yard dealt with a kitchen glitch was classy.
This mini chain was not really on our radar when we were in the area, but we saw it while passing by and though we would give it a shot for lunch. Some nice highs and not so highs as well. The place looks like a warehouse that was converted into a restaurant as an afterthought. There is a bar in the middle and one of the walls is decorated with paintings of grilled cheese sandwiches as characters. Other than that, it is all metal and grays and blacks and concrete. The restrooms are behind the office and kitchen and actually shared with the taco place next door. Weird. We were there for lunch and they were severely understaffed. One server and one person at the bar handled host / server / and running food duties. Even though the place was not even close to half full, we spent more than an hour in there - mostly waiting for our food to come - so I suspect the kitchen was understaffed as well. We did see the waitress and bar attendant handling all their tasks with dispatch, so it was not because they were slacking! As to the food, their big thing is their grilled cheese sandwiches. So, we got one of those. They also offer other sandwiches, flat breads and salads. We opted for the berry salad as well. The sandwiches come with a small cup of their tomato soup and potato chips. Reflecting back on the time it took, the only thing the kitchen really had to make was the grilled cheese. So, why so long? Anyway, the food did finally come and we looked around for forks, spoons and napkins. Oh, there they are, on the next table in a metal tray. Our table did not have them for some reason. No big deal, we reached over and snagged them. The soup was really good, the potato chips were excelled: crunchy, big, and not overly salty. The salad was very nice with a dressing that was not too sweet. The only disappointment was that the grilled cheese sandwich was buttered on the outside so it was greasy to handle. That was really not necessary. Flavors were decent but not outstanding. Thank goodness we found the napkins! Overall, a nice place to stop for lunch when you have the time and the place is mostly empty. Due to the decor, it's probably incredibly loud when full. We will probably visit again to try some different offerings.
Thought this was a chain resty but turns out it's local to PA. Overall was not busy during the time we went. Service from waitress was good. She was attentive to my allergy & made sure to ask kitchen about sauces & even made comment about fries I originally ordered were fried in batter with other things that could be an issue. Cost was average to other similar places.
This restaurant has some great grilled cheese and other sandwiches. We got the BBQ pulled chicken and the Philly steak. Both were tasty and not salty. The beer of the month was a nice Marzen Octoberfest beer and it was just $3 per pint. Excellent...
After 2 years I finally decided to try this place and I wasn’t disappointed. It’s cute inside and I had the friendliest server ever. When asked about recommendations she literally gave one in every category it was perfect. Following some of her suggestions I got the Thai Chili wings for an appetizer that were fried and seasoned to perfection. As well as the Buffalo Dip Flat bread. It was ok. I didn’t finish it but I’d try a different flavor. I also ordered the sweet potato fries, which were 10/10, but they brought out the regular fries, which were also delicious 8/10. So they corrected it without incident. I was curious about the dessert that seemed to be random ingredients thrown together drenched in marshmallow fluff. It was actually delicious. About 3/4 of it was good enough for me but it’s definitely one of those gotta try it at least once things. Overall, I’d recommend this place and will definitely be coming back.
Went there for dinner on a date night, and it was delicious to say the least. I got the grilled cheese that was made with Smoked Godua and a few other ingredients and it was amazing! Came with moderatly thick tomato soup, which I wasn't the biggest fan of but it was still good! The home made chips came out crispy and warm and we're delicious when paired with the soup. My partner got the steak salad and the steak was cooked as requested and delicious with the fried egg! He loved the atmosphere- as did I. It was a bit noisy and loud but only at one point did we have trouble hearing, after that it stayed a perfect level to hear our conversation but not have the next table hearing it! Definitely would recommend for anyone looking for a good grilled cheese, or just a good friendly restaurant with amazing staff!
Stopped at this place on the weekend for lunch and the wait was over an hour...I felt that was insane and decided to go somewhere else. The next time I went was during the week for dinner and there was no wait so I gave it a try. It was my first time there. I thought the menu had a lot of options, the atmosphere was unique, the service was good, but the food was just ok. Maybe it was just what I ordered, but it didn't "wow" me, I guess I was expecting it to be better. I felt that the prices were a little bit high for the portion sizes as well.
My husband picked this place for dinner. They are famous for their interesting grilled cheeses. My husband did get one, The slap your momma, he said it was very good- it was super messy. It was served with tomato soup and chips. What I did not like if u wanted to sub the tomato soup or the chips there were extra costs... I don't like tomato soup so I would of needed to sub... anyways I got the steak salad, honestly not the best. It was large and had actual sliced steak on it. But 3 waffle fries like come on we are in Pittsburgh! The atmosphere okay nothing overly special- alot of beer on tap if that's your thing. Our waitress was very good, she was on it and stayed busy when she was waiting on the kitchen. I can not say that about another waitress who would sit down at the bar to talk to a guy that was sitting there. I think if your into grilled cheese you should try this place if not I think there's better restaurants.
I recently visited The Yard and overall, it was a decent experience. The ambiance was pleasant—nothing too fancy, but comfortable and clean. The staff was polite and attentive, although service was a bit slow during peak hours.
Can’t say I’ll ever be back here. Popped in here for lunch on Sunday and easily got seats at the bar. They offered Bells on special but it was apparently out so we ended up ordering different beers. We started with the fried banana peppers which were the best part of the meal. Followed up with an okay burger and a terrible black bean burger. Mac n cheese was also pretty mediocre and not hot. Bartender was also pretty unfriendly. There are better places for a better sandwich at a better price!
We showed up at 11 on a weekday and while we were greeted with and attended by a warm hostess, the food lacked the temperature. Soup was cold, had to send back the coffee as that was cold too. But the sandwiches were good enough. Maybe we will try the weekend buffet to see if that changes our opinion.
Burgers are pretty good, the table we were sitting at put the sun directly in our eyes. Waffle fries are solid.. The jerk dry rub wings we're juicy, But didn't taste like traditional jerk wings. Overall it was an okay experience..
My first time there. I got brunch pancakes with blueberries. Overall the service was nice and I liked the open space sports bar setting. Unfortunately, the pancakes were not even warm. I didn't complain. I'll try it again in 2026.
This is where you go when you are four beers in and don’t care about what your food tastes like. Cold, flavorless, and just gross. The Steak salad was a cheap, tough steak with a very over cooked egg and large pieces of lettuce and very little dressing. About the only thing that was good were the chips
We arrived and were immediately greeted by a smell. Not the smell of food, but the overwhelming odor of lemon/lime scented cleaning supplies. Not a good start. The greeter was disinterested, our server seemed confused. I inquired about the happy hour special and the served had to study the drink menu to attempt to interpret what it could possibly be. She proceeded to ask us to order a beer by the tap number rather than the name. We ordered, the food was delivered, and by delivered, I mean dropped at our table without inquiry about whether we needed anything else or a refill. I had an empty beer glass in front of me and would have loved another, but alas, the server missed the opportunity to sell me another round. The food was fine. Pretty tasty, in fact, but it was difficult to taste over the ever present cleaning supply odor. Pretty medium experience. They could do a lot better.
Our waiter had to be new so we gave him grace. We were upset it was my grandsons 29 birthday and they had no cold beer. He then asked for on tap and he said they didn’t have that beer. He then said he would bear through drinking the warm beer could he bring another one and he said he wasn’t aloud until he finished the one he had. His wife ordered coke it was flat. The food order came out and it was very good.
Our table order was not complicated but apparently it was difficult to get everything out together. We had an order of wings, a chicken and waffles, buffalo chicken, and soup with sweet potato fries. The chicken and waffles did not come with hot honey that was listed on the menu, we needed to ask for silverware. When they started to bring food out, the wings and chicken and waffles came first, then a few minutes later the buffalo chicken dip, and last thing the soup and fries. I do not know that we will be coming back to The Yard, very inconsistent and not happy with our previous experiences.
Well everything is covered in cheese. So don't come if you're not into 20 different kinds of grilled cheese. The buffalo chicken dip was so sour.. I. Sure it was spoiled. It wasn't busy at all.. the server looked like she didn't want to be bothered.. or was in a bad mood. Everything that came out was cold.. but she never came back to check on us... My soup was to thick and cold you could cut it with a knife. Everything was gross. Will not return
Let’s talk about the service. It was absolutely terrible. The burger I ordered was delicious, but the sweet potato fries were awful and felt like rubber. To top it off, when I thanked the bartender, she gave me a sour “yup” and the beer was room temperature.
Rented the private room for luch. The private room was super loud and too small for our group. The food was terrible. Ran out of food. Manager on duty was less than helpful.
If you are looking for cold beer, good drinks, good food and great service……keep looking. The only thing this place has going for them are the burgers. You would get better service at a fast food restaurant at 2 am.
The service here is extremely spotty. Went here today. Got seated, was waiting for the rest of my family. It took a while but I finally got served. I ordered a beer and an appetizer for the family. Family arrived then the appetizer came out. After 20 minutes NOBODY came to take either a drink or food order from any of us. Family left. I closed the check with the bartender. Everyone is entitled to a bad day but this is the second time this type of stuff has happened to us at this location. Love the food and the atmosphere, but wow . . hire people who care. We’re very easy, forgiving customers, and we always tip well.
Coffee ice cold, asked for hot water multiple times never got it till ready to leave…drink orders messed up. Bills not divided up correctly after told multiple times…food was ok not worth the $$. There was 2 groups of 10 with no one else in restaurant so waitress was not busy only had our table…she was too busy worrying about her pimple to do her responsibilities.. restaurant took our reservation for 10 people at 3 pm but never told us they were closing at 4pm. No diaper changing area if your going to have a kids menu be kid friendly all the way..All 10 of us will not come back.
