WOW. My new favorite place. Great food, but the friendly service made it special. Remarkably pleasant staff (warm, intelligent, happy to be working there), no silly masks, no attitude. Just a great sandwich. Stumbled in on a rainy day with my wife. So glad we did. This will be our new go-to spot in Placerville. Looking forward to making it a regular destination when I'm coming up 50. Highly recommend the beef n blue.
Honestly one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. The bread is crispy but doesn’t tear your mouth, and all sandwiches are good! My family and I loved all of it!
Delicious - these are the best sandwiches we had in a very long time. Everything was fresh, the ingredients delightful and you have a choice if their best, or you can build your own. It took a bit to get them, but we took that as a sign of the love and quality going into making our sannies
This place was delicious!!! I had the Little Philly, the flavors were immaculate! There were 4 of us and we all had different sandwiches, all of us were beyond satisfied and we got our food fairly fast! Can't wait to come back!
After a long hot day we stopped in placerville, CA for a sandwich. We arrived just after closing and they were nice enough to let us sit in the patio with our dog and let us order. The BLT sandwich was awesome, tons of bacon, the service was great and (I am assuming it was the owner) was very nice, gave our dog water. If we get back this way we will be back!
Great sandwiches and stellar service.
Absolutely the best sandwiches around! My go to is the little Philly, best French dip sandwich I’ve ever had! I like to add crispy onions and garlic Mayo, makes it Scrumdiddlyumptious. Also dog friendly on the patio, which is awesome.
We’ve been here several times and the sandwiches never disappoint. Very good!
Amazing sandwiches and brothers that own it super friendly with our kids, thanks will be back!!!
I was hesitant to try this spot at first, but now it is a weekly staple! The sandwiches are amazing. They always have rotating beers on tap for me to try out new brews, I have even dissected their menu and have started coming up with my own variations. While most places may groan when I make complicated orders, the people here have never given me grief about it. Even to go so far as to make some suggestions to further expand on what I attempt to come up with. And it is always made exactly how I envisioned. This is also one of the few places on main street with easy and ample parking no matter what vehicle I am in. Locally owned. Locally maintained. This place makes me feel right at home.
This place is delicious! Our favorite sandwiches are The Angry Irishmen and The Loaded Irishman. Usually very fast service and quality ingredients. If you want to enjoy the atmosphere of downtown Placerville they have a wonderful patio as well. The smoothies are also excellent! If you are looking for a delicious grilled sandwich look no further!
Came in for the first time today, been on the hunt for a good sandwich shop since moving home, and I’m impressed! They were somewhat slow since it’s the end of the day and middle of the work week, but I can tell the energy here is great! There were a few others that I assume are regulars because of the way staff was chatting with them and they chatted among each other. I work in the industry and the way owners and staff interact with locals and regulars says a lot for me! Great impression. Laid back and tasty. I got the “hot ace” and loved it! Bread was soft even after being toasted, veggies are fresh, and the chicken was tender and tasty. Also a huge fan of the beer selection. Will be back to try more soon!
I’ve been going here since they opened. Always had the best sandwich’s. Lot’s of everything you love on a sandwich.
Everyone must stop by to get a bite to eat. The staff is great and the Sammie's are bar none. Not many veggies, but they'll feed your Inner fat boy!
If you like a good sandwich or salad Melters is the place to stop at. They are conveniently located in downtown Placerville. Friendliest employees and quality food and drinks. They also have a rotating beer selection and wine. They also have new merch on hand!
Hands down, best sandwiches in town! They have delicious bacon mac n cheese and a good selection of beer on tap, too. Only negative is they're only open a few hours. Highly recommend, you'll enjoy it!
Great customer service, hometown feel, regulars in the house, and sandwiches are unique and tasty. Had the TAD, yes please! Turkey is REAL and not processed, sauces were good, avacodos soft and fresh, and the bread was easy to eat with good crunch. Definitely check this spot out if you're in the area.
Best pastrami I have ever had hands down! Warm friendly staff from the cashier to the back of house wore a genuine smile.. My new favorite place to eat in Placerville!
The Main Street Melters – A Must-Stop in Placerville Heading upHighway 50 on our anniversary and husband’s birthday celebrate and fishing trip along Highway 395, we stumbled upon this little gem in the heart of historic downtown Placerville. The Main Street Melters is a funky, welcoming sandwich shop right on the corner of Main Street—perfect for people-watching and soaking up the small-town charm from their great outdoor patio. I ordered the Cali Club, which came wrapped in two hearty halves—plenty to save one for later. My husband had The Rancher, also a double meat sandwich, and it was so big they automatically wrapped half to-go. At $15.50, these are generous, high-quality sandwiches—and totally worth it. Don’t let the price throw you off—there are more affordable options on the menu, too. What really stands out is the quality. Every ingredient tasted fresh—from the crisp produce to the local bread that was clearly just baked. They use Boar’s Head meats and cheeses, freshly sliced, and you can absolutely taste the difference. These aren’t your average deli sandwiches—they’re elevated, flavorful, and made with care. They also offer tacos, fresh salads, and a rotating tap list since it doubles as a beer spot. The staff was friendly, service was quick, and the whole vibe was relaxed and welcoming. We’ll definitely be back—next time, we’re grabbing a few sandwiches to take down to the river and share. If you’re passing through Placerville, make this your go-to lunch stop. You won’t be disappointed.
People say this is the best sandwich in Placerville, but I say it’s the best sandwich PERIOD. While most places are in a race to make the most complicated sandwich possible, they’ve stayed true to keeping it simple and letting the food speak for itself with fewer, thoughtfully sourced/high quality ingredients that compliment each-other in a way only they know how to do it. Best part is you’ll feel satisfied, and ready to enjoy one of the local beers on tap after instead of having to chug a gallon of water and lay in the fetal position the rest of the day. The only problem you’ll have is the decision process-EVERYTHING is delicious. Also family owned/operated so you feel like a human instead of an order number 👍🏼
Such a good find. We were up here for our son’s baseball game. I missed lunch and looking for a spot to eat. We stumbled upon this charming spot. I ordered the Thanksgiving, my mom ordered a spicy chipotle and my wife had roast beef. All were tasty. Next time I will grab a beer and enjoy the front patio a bit longer.
Stopped here for lunch thus afternoon with my Brother. Had the Beef & Bleu sandwich on Sourdough. It was delicious. My brother inquired if they ever had acoustic music on the patio & Samantha was very knowledgeable about the local venues in town that feature music . This place is family owned & operated which I love. The covered deck is perfect at providing shade & offers a relaxing area to enjoy their hand made menu items. I tried a Wyatt Earp Sasparilla & it was delicious. I highly recommend coming here. 🙂
Best sandwiches in town hands down, no question about it, don't @ me if you disagree you are are just mistaken. The Wife loves the "Angry Irishman" I'm into the "Beef N Bleu" Potato Salad is homemade and some of the best I've ever had. Mac n cheese. :) ✔️ Good beers on tap or seltzers in the fridge. Outside dog friendly
Friendly service. The staff are always welcoming. The food is amazing with a variety of options. Highly recommend.
Really lovely people + fantastic location + maybe the best gluten free bread I’ve ever had (guess it’s local to Placerville)

These are fantastic sandwiches! I was searching for a pastrami like my grandmother used to make. This is the only place in town that serves them. The Angry Irishman, goes above & beyond pastrami. Love this place!
We have actually never been to Melters, and after going today, I have no idea why! The wide variety of sandwiches made it very difficult for us to order. Every one of them looked absolutely amazing.. We ordered a couple of sandwiches that the very nice gal working at the register recommended. Boy, she was spot on! They were absolutely delicious. The amount of meat, cheese and produce was satisfying. So fresh and delicious. I can honestly say all the other sandwich shops in town don't compare. My only wish is they had more indoor seating when the weather is warm. But that won't stop us from returning. I can see why this place earned best sandwich shop! Hands-down gourmet. 💕
Amazing sandwiches! I’ve never had a bad experience ever. Every single beer is top notch, all of the employees are friendly and helpful. Fun atmosphere with great music! The wife and I love to sit on the patio, enjoy our sandwiches and beers, and watch the world go by. If you ever are in the area, this is a MUST STOP. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.

I tried their Loaded Irishmen today - Corned beef, pastrami, Havarti, cream cheese, and caramlized onions on marble rye. It was AWESOME!!! You will NOT regret it! 😋 🥰 I also enjoyed the outdoor dining area. Nice people, family-owned. Next time I'm in town, I'll coming here.
Had lunch with the kids here today. Ceasar salad was ok. Caprese sandwich was good but lacked zest and flavor. Side salad with added guac was amazing. Big Kahuna was amazing. Friendly staff. Great assortment of sandos. Nice outdoor seating. Good beers. Good Veggie options. Def recommend trying when you're in Placerville.

Stop here about once a month on my way through Placerville. The sandwiches are good. A few days ago I was on my way up to Tahoe and was very hungry and on a time crunch because I had dogs in the car (running with ac on blast and another human in the car but still), so I decided to call it in for pickup and just eat on the fly. My first attempt at calling the line picked up and then was hung up. I called back and got answering service that instructed the caller to place an online order if they got that message during business hours. So I followed their instructions and made an online order, and I made the order early so it would be ready by the time I arrived. When we arrived they weren’t that busy, but the woman working the front had no food ready for me. She then proceeded to tell me they were getting too many calls so she turned the phone off (I must have been the last call because she picked up and hung up on me and I got the message right after). So I explained I made the order online and she proclaims “oh we don’t even check those”. Basic common sense, customer-oriented service would not have an outgoing message saying to make online orders for a system they don’t check. It’s such an inconvenience for customers. And it’s inexcusable in this day and age. Thankfully someone in the back came out and made my sandwich quickly but for gosh sakes don’t accept someone’s money and then have no intention of making the food. For the record it was a good sandwich. Xx
The Italian meat sandwich was mediocre had hardly any meat no produce. The grilled cheese for the kids was actually really good. They enjoyed it. The red trolley beer is really good..

Food and service was mediocre at best and expensive. This was my first visit and I have no reason to return. Difficult to see how this business is an award winner.
Sandwiches were good; nothing extraordinary and a bit soggy, but generous meat portions and good flavor overall. 2 sandwiches took ~15 minutes to make, which was a bit longer wait than expected. Our drinks were room temperature, so hopefully their food fridge works better than the drink fridge. Minus 1 star for overall dismissive service: we are out of towners and were treated accordingly Minus 2 stars for sketchy business practices! After we purchased the sandwiches, I came back to get drinks (bottle of Gatorade and a water) as it was really hot and our cooler was not easily accessible. When I was checking out the cashier said that the drinks were $4 and asked me if I had any cash. Then looked at me, waved it off, took my card and said that "she'll complete the transaction for me". I thought it was odd and made a mental note to check my credit card statement. Sure enough: I was charged $8.64, so double the quoted price PLUS a tip? I disputed the transaction with my credit card and leaving a warning for other travelers: always check your receipts here, or try a more honest establishment.
Two sandwiches took 34 minutes to make "for here," with not a large crowd around. Sandwiches were fine, but not exceptional. Flavors were not well balanced, but also not very strong, tending toward the fatty end of the spectrum. Fillings not very generous, and the bread was conventional store bought bread slices. Boar's Head meat, so ingredient quality wasn't great to start with (the filth in their factories led to several poisonings and nation-wide recalls.)

The sandwich was made on old bread; it crumbled every time I took a bite of my sandwich. I wanted it grilled, but I was so rushed in placing my order it didn’t get it grilled. It was just a bad experience.
Outside looks good. I got lured with the boarhead signs. Once inside, it took 35 minutes to get 2 sandwhiches. That is the longest I have ever waited for sandwhiches. They did not have orders ahead. They forgot the pickles on the side, we stood in the fronglt and we were ignored up front, and the host sounded dismisive before apologizing to forget. We felt very unwelcomed, suggesting its a local spot.. I can forgive food quality bur never bad service, beware.. sandwhiches were mediocore.
Used to love this place and was excited to meet friends here. Unfortunately, has gone down hill in a bad way. Poor customer service, lacking care for the dining environment, my last sandwich was awful (bread falling apart), prices increased, quality decreased. So sad.
The bird sandwich is a simple, yet sly, chicken breast sandwich on a French roll. The French roll was so simple, plastic, not warm, not hot, not toasted - just a plain old bread with some aioli sauce, a couple of peppers, and a couple of purple onions, nothing to write home about. I ate it because I was hungry. Still, it was not worth it not to come back to this joint anymore; the only thing good about this place is the beer.
Don’t bother with this place. $35 for two sandwiches which were not great. I asked for sourdough bread and my sandwich came on white bread. Small sandwiches. Subway has better sandwiches for a better price. Nothing special here.
We went there on our way to Tahoe. We've got the most awful food poisoning. That was 2 years ago, and my husband and I still talk about it on a regular basis. This place was the ONLY place we had eaten that day. Hopefully they are being less gross while prepping the food. I remember seeing them and how dirty everything looked (even themselves) but giving them a chance cause they had good reviews. Big mistake, HUGE. Never coming back but I don't wish other clients to get sick as we did.
