Probably some of the best Mexican food I’ve had. Meat is tender and melts in your mouth and has fantastic brunch options. Strawberry mango margarita is incredible. Will definitely be back and recommend to friends and family.

Wow! This was great! The carne asada was so good (would recommend), beans were good, and was pleasantly suprised with a sweet tamale (I feel like not too many places in the area offer)! They offer a great variety of drinks with a great sit down environment! Will definitely be back!

We dined here for dinner. My husband and I were not too hungry so we wanted to split the chicken enchiladas and a salad. We asked the waitress to bring an empty plate for the enchiladas so we could split them. We were surprised when they brought two plates already split in half. It was so thoughtful of them. The ensalada de la casa was fresh and the vinaigrette was delicious. Our friend got the Arrachera with half steak and half chicken. The portion was large and he said it was the best Mexican food he has ever had. Would definitely eat here again!

Great place for dinner and drinks. Have very tasty house margaritas and greatly enjoy the enchiladas. Their complimentary chips and salsa are a little different, and I like them, but had friends who didn't care for the chips. Only complaint is they only have a mango tea, always forget when I order it, but switching it out has never been an issue and they usually warn you.

Brunch was amazing! I had the heuvos borrachos. My mom had the "Mexican toast." Both were quite delicious, but the Mexican toast was VERY sweet. Honestly it should be offered as dessert rather than a main course. We shared a bit so mom could have something savory to go with the VERY sweet toast.

The food is excellent, the atmosphere is perfect for a date or dinner with friends and the service is absolutely top notch. We always ask for Rafael and he never fails to provide a wonderful dining experience.

Food was delicious!! My Mole con pollo was very tasty and chicken was tender. My husband had the Arrachera plate and he love it. Plate was big enough to feed two people, meat was juicy and tender with fresh made tortillas. I was unsure about what kind of mole to get so our waiter kindly offer to let me try the mole sauce prior to ordering, both of them were delicious! The manager also came to say how and and brought fresh made tortillas and fresh guacamole for us to try! Service was above and beyond… we will be coming back!!

While I didn't like my personal food choice(Seafood Enchiladas) the other Enchiladas were amazing! The chips and salsa were very good and the drinks were on point. The West Plano Meso Maya has the Best Authentic Mexican food in the city!! The atmosphere is incredible. Lilian, Fernando, and her team are top notch, and will make sure you have an memorable experience. The ingredients are super fresh, entres are well priced, and you’ll be happy you came. A splendid twist of Mexican cuisine and fine dining! Meso Maya is spectacular on many levels! From the lush atmosphere to the exquisite presentation, Meso Maya is one of the best fine dining franchises in the DFW. My girlfriend and I went on Easter to celebrate her brother's birthday. Being there with her family made it feel much more special! There's a variety of choices, you really can't go wrong. For an entree, I highly recommend one of the Budín Azteca meals. They are the Chef's specials. Creamy and flavorful with every bite! The closest thing to Mexican lasagna with tortillas. I had the Camarón! It's delicious sauce blended so with the shrimp! For a appetizer, I recommend the Ceviche and for a side, you must try a bowl of beans (it will take your tastebuds on a world tour of Amazement)!! The service is top notch and makes your experience much more enjoyable! I haven't checked the outside seating area. Would love to go back and check it out! I cannot put into words the experience and most delicious traditional Mexican cuisine my sister and I had with the Captians of Mesa Mayo. The food that was sent out was a magical expression of what Mexican cuisine stands for, along with an attention to detail that captivates every thing that the Mexican culture truly represents. Our Manager on duty Angel showed exceptional hospitality that welcomed my sister and I into a place of profound perfection and comfort, Benavides. Carlos, the bartender championed your finest of all bar keeps, making a happy hour margarita, or six between us, taste as if we had been transported to a Mayan table set for the Gods. I had the carnitas rellenos that was a party of flavors that challenged the finest of all traditions that the Central American people have to offer, taking a simple taste of the green chile to the higher end of all things culinary causing me to finish my plate as if I would never eat again. The Pollo Budin ordered by mi armana, had a chile verde flavor that was out of this world. Having this rich and tangy salsa verde smothered over in house made corn tortillas will deepen your love for the craft of ground corn. If you are not dining here on a weekly basis or making this a staple of your diatery preference, then you are simply doing yourself a disservice and mi corazon cries for your incompetence. This is a must have and I guarantee you that you will leave more than satisfied and it will be the epitome of your suenos de comida every time you make this your culinary destination. Both the food and drinks were very good. (Forgot to take pics of the food I was soo hungry!) The service could’ve been better. Our waitress kept coming over asking us to order, forgot several things, made a wrong drink, but she had a nice personality. I would still come again.

Came here with friends and had never tried Meso Maya befor. Had the salmon de coco and cafe olla. The server asked how I"d like the salmon cooked and I was so happy as I do like it cooked very well done. This dish is served with awesome tasting coconut rice and vegetables. I asked for the cafe olla to be made without sugar and it was the perfect addition to the meal. Service was excellent from start to finish.

My wife and I had some alone time while the in-laws looked after our toddler, and she has been wanting to bring me to this restaurant for a while, so after the Fashion Show we went here as it was on the way home. I had very little expectations before we came and I was really blown away at how great everything here was! We ordered the Avocado Margarita and the Oaxaca for drinks. My wife did not like her Margarita until the very end of the night. She said it really didn't 'go with the food' and made it taste a bit weird. She was a bit disappointed as she loves Avocado ice cream and other takes on it. She said before we left that it started to grow on her, but would not get again. On the other hand I won the 'who got the best cocktail contest' with the Oaxaca, it was so delicious. Honestly it reminded me of a take on Old Fashions, which are my go to cocktail. It had a nice spice to it and went perfectly with our meal. It is made with Mezcal lime, orange liqueur and more. It was absolutely delicious to drink The chips and salsa was delicious. The chips are in the shape of long rectangles which was cool and i know my daughter would have liked them. The salsa also had a very nice kick to it, which is always a great thing. We opt to share the Budin Azteca Chuleta, which is pork chops with potatoes, queso, and some very nice and spicy salsa! To go with it we ordered a side of rice and beans which was SUPER generous and tasted out of this world. My wife is not a fan of plain white rice, which is what it looks like, but it will fool you as it is decked with tons of flavors and spices. The meal itself was out of this world and we both were stuffed telling the other person to finish off the last bites of it. I saw a picture before it came out and was worried that everything would be 'soggy' as i am a texture person and HATE soggy food, but it was not that way at all. Everything was seared so it was crunchy with the salsa....my mouth is watering just thinking about it right now. Great meal for the price! The authmosphere was awesome and perfect for any date nights. The staff was super nice as well We will add this to our list of places for date nights, as it is just to delicious not to come back again!

Love meso maya and they have the best guacamole and queso appetizer. It is a lot so perfect to share. I got the pozole verde soup and it was hearty and a little spicy. Really good with some chips put in it. My husband got the brisket enchiladas and they were really good. A small portion of food so it wasn’t overwhelming. Don’t sleep on the white rice. It was the best rice we have ever had. I could eat just the rice by itself. Make sure you try it. Worth a stop if you’re on this side of Plano.

Wow, amazing food! It was our first time here, and we were blown away by both the food and the service. We started with the chicken taquitos as an appetizer, which were crispy and packed with flavor. The kids had quesadillas, which they happily devoured. The rice served with every dish had a strong garlic flavor, adding a unique twist. My wife enjoyed the chicken enchiladas, which were moist and bursting with flavor. The sweet corn tamal was pleasantly sweet but not overwhelmingly so. As for my carne asada plate, the steak was cooked to perfection and seasoned just right. For dessert, we indulged in the chocolate cake and churros. The chocolate cake was the clear winner, absolutely delicious! Overall, the service was great, and we will definitely be back for more.

I had to rush off to the bathroom because we got stuck in traffic getting there... The bathroom was gorgeous 😊💗 and as soon as that's soap hit in my hands I knew that it was high-end and probably had shea butter in it😚💗 I loved the decor and the atmosphere they created in the restaurant 😁💗 most of all I love the hospitality first before ordering 😁💗 most likely the owner of the restaurant arrived at our table dressed elegantly and sophisticated in a nice suit 🙂👌 then he talked to us for a moment about the food there before we ordered and explained that on the menu the classic Mayan dishes have the little Mayan logo next to them 😋👌 the chips and salsa they brought out before we ordered were amazing 😋 salsa delicious and not too spicy 😋 the waiter was courteous and right on time with his visits to the table 😁and the table had white linen napkins🙂👌 then it was time to order my hubby chose something a little more simple some type of enchiladas with beans and rice 😊 the foodie and me told me to go for something else 😋 I have a picture below 😋 in the middle it was like a cheese enchilada but not like one I've ever ate in my life 😋 layered with homemade white corn tortillas and three different types of cheeses 😋 and then Chicken around the outside of it and the whole thing topped off with and out of this world sauce so good I can't explain it 😋💗😁👌 I have a saying when food is really good... This restaurant has THE BEST fajita (arrachera) I’ve ever tasted. The meat is so tender and everything is so fresh. You can see the kitchen from our table, which i love cause i can see what they are doing there. They brought salsa and chips, and their salsa is very flavorful . Our waiter, Miguel is attentive and helpful. The manager, Greg is very friendly and cheerful. My husband ordered the Pollo serrano enchiladas, and asked to substitute one of the meat to brisket and they didn’t charge extra. I also got the brunch drinks, mimosa and sangria for only $3 each. Greg also gives me a bday dessert, blueberry pudding with Mexican vanilla ice cream which is heavenly ! This place is definitely a gem and we have to come back. This is our new favorite Mexican place in DFW.

Minerva, one of the manager welcomed us. She walked us to our table and was very friendly and kind to us. Carlos was our server; I had to ask for a manager to let him know that he provided excellent service to us. He was attentive, friendly, walking the extra mile for us. The food was delicious and very tasty. Mango tea was refreshing! Nice location and clean. I also had a sangria on happy hour.

Great neighborhood Mexican food, it's always good and service is good. We love the fresh guacamole and queso appetizer, the lunch menu is great and i did the chicken soup with hominy and a Serrano chicken enchilada, i personally love the black beans it comes with. My son had the steak tostadas and he said they were so yummy! Huge plate too! Overall we really like this restaurant and would recommend highly.

First time trying this spot and pleasantly surprised. We ordered the sopa de lima, ceviche, enchiladas Del Mar, sweet corn tamal and complementary chips and salsa. They have a great salsa, it’s roasted and authentic, homemade. Everything else was delicious. The soup warmed my soul, and the enchiladas were so flavorful and savory. Server was very good, respectful and attentive. This is a great restaurant for small or large parties and they have a bar as well. Will definitely come back when I’m in town. Till then, let’s eat!

Stopped in for a late lunch on a weekday as I was in the area. Was given complimentary salsa and chips and the salsa was amazing. I ordered the mole enchiladas as my main and was not disappointed. The chicken breast inside was well seasoned and the mole sauce had a rich flavour. Served with rice and beans it was a perfect portion. Was pleased to find a nice clean bathroom as well. My server Juan Fernando was friendly and knowledgeable. I even bought one of their coffee gift baskets as a Christmas present. They also have a deal if you buy gift cards you get an extra 20% more.

The food was excellent. I ordered the budin azteca vegetales which I've had once before and again it did not disappoint. The carrots, mushrooms, and zucchini were well seasoned and sat on top of the tortilla and cheese layers. The flavors came together perfectly. My husband ordered a salmon dish and loved every bite. The chips were perfectly salted and the salsa had a nice smokey flavor. The reason we did not give 5 stars is because of the service. Our waiter had a very transactional approach and said very little to us. It almost seemed he could care less if we were there or not.

Well, based on the reviews i had high hopes for this place. I'm a pretty harsh critic of Mexican food having lived and worked in Mexico and along the border for 35 years. First the really good: this place is clean, you can actually see the kitchen where your food is prepared and it looked very clean by even the harshest standards. The atmosphere was great, they didn't over hype the place with cheesy Mexican music, sobreros, etc. it's just a very nice restaurant; almost too nice for traditional food. Mediocre: our waitress while she came back often enough, never recognized we were all out of drinks. We thought, "this time she'll offer to refill".. Nope.. We finally had to ask for refills. Prices were about average if a little high. Food: There are some very interesting choices here. Not your average "same food, different shapes" you get in most Mexican restaurants, chimichangas, etc. Nope, they had some real originals and most sounded pretty good. The chips and salsa i have to give credit, they were dang good and the salsa actually had a little kick to it.. Very good 8/10. My wife and daughter ordered the Pozole verde. They love pozole and we even make it at home. This Pizole was bland, very bland and they both thought so. Neither of them finished it...3/10. They also ordered breakfast tacos and reported they were good but nothing to write home to abuelita about. A medium 6/10. I ordered enchiladas pollo with serrano sauce. These were ok but i did find the white rice an odd choice along with black beans. The beans were good but the rice was just kinda odd. Overall I'd rate the enchiladas a 7/10, the beans an 8/10 and the overall plate a 7/10. Not bad really but nothing I'd drive across town to get. Lastly, the wife and daughter ordered waters and i got fresh lemonade 🍋. It came in a medium glass filled to the top with ice that was literally three sips to finish. I had to ask for a refill and i noticed her adding it to the check so i only did it once. The taste was great but at 3 sips for $4.00 a pop for each glass of lemonade.. No, just no. 1/10. All this for about $60.00 seemed a little steep but it is a very nice restaurant. All in all, it's a nice place with a good selection of food but (maybe we went on a bad day) the food was mediocre at Best. If you want a nice place to sit down and eat some unique Mexican food. Id say you'll probably give this place a thumbs up. If however you want truly good Mexican food regardless of setting, I'd look elsewhere. Overall 6/10

Came here with my coworkers for lunch. Great location, wonderful ambiance. Our waitress was nice enough but was definitely lacking a certain friendliness you usually find. Our food was prompt and good. My coworker ordered the chicken enchiladas with the molé sauce and none of us cared for it- it tasted like sweet licorice. The only tea offered is an I sweet mango tea. I loved it but my coworker preferred regular black tea, which they didn't have. Overall the experience was good! Fresh food, chips and salsa were also good.

I always enjoy my dining experiences at Meso Maya. My favorite dish is the carnitas tacos plate. The flavor of the meat is great and the habanero sauce pairs perfect with it! They offer different cocktails and usually offer new drinks you don’t see on their regular menu. The drinks are made well and go so well with the entrees. They have different locations across the metroplex and I’ve always enjoyed my experience at all the locations I’ve tried.

It was a good experience, the staff was so nice and chatty and if you like Mexican food, then that is for you, and also try to ask which dish you can get as a vegetarian dish and they have outside seating plus inside whatever you prefer and parking you can find, but sometimes it is hard to find. Overall a 5 star experience.

First things first...the food is phenomenal. Every dish we ordered lived up to the expectation. The spice levels were just perfect and taste was amazing. The only let down if I may call it that, was the Guac as maybe that is something which lacked a kick. Service was good, but they really got very busy after 7pm, so much so that one of the refill orders for our drinks just never arrived and the waiters were doing their best but were just too tight with too many occupied tables. The ambiance of the restaurant was pretty good, there was a wait for about 15 mins to get a table for 5 at 6:30pm and I am sure it increased later so better to reserve. Bar seating, as we heard had longer wait times. The price is a little on the higher end, but for a dine in experience, I felt it was not too bad.

Amazing genuine food. I should say one of the best Mexican places I had food. Starting with their chips and salad: homemade chips ( just by the shape you know it), and the salads had a kick to it. The pozole soup was as a perfect combination for the tomatillo and spicy lines. Had their short rib dish, everything flavorful though only 2 small pieces of short rib , the start of the dish is the cheese stuffed poblano. The enchilada Del Mar does not disappoint you. Only one critic : the dark chocolate dessert is far from being dark. Should use higher quality of dark chocolate. Otherwise I would have given 5 star. Quick service also

I first judge Mexican food restaurants on their salsa and their margaritas. Salsa was ok, not great, light on spice but had a nice smoky note to it. Margarita was good, but sat empty after appetizers, and the waitress never noticed despite visiting the table several times, so missed an opportunity to sell another. Ceviche was great as was the pork chop and the sides that came with it. Overall good experience.

We came here to celebrate my husband’s birthday. I made a reservation in advance and mentioned that it was his birthday. Overall, the experience was okay. The atmosphere was nice and pleasant, but the food was just average — not bad, yet not something that would make me want to come back. Service felt a bit strange. We were not really noticed for a while because the staff seemed busy fixing something in the restaurant. Also, despite noting the birthday in the reservation, no one acknowledged it when we arrived.

The shrimp quesadilla was decent, but the skirt steak was PHENOMENAL! 😍🤤 They really got the flavor down on that one. The elote con crema and queso was good, sweet tamale eh pass. We received great service from Jennifer, I would def sit in her section again. She handled our party of 15 by herself like a champ! Overall, I have no complaints.

Great atmosphere and our waiter was fantastic, but the food was not as good as the last time I came, about a year ago. The green pozole and also my bidun azteca (camaron) were way too salty, and the portion size on the bidun was not very filing. One of my party had the enchiladas de mole and the chicken was very dry Dessert was better, the flan and churros were good, and so was the elote ice cream, but the chocolate cake wasn't very good.

Waiter forgot that he was the one who asked us for our drink order. He was confused on who took our drink order then realized later it was him. Kinda weird. The shrimp tostaditos were delicious. Complimentary chips and salsa were just okay. For entree I ordered the beef Azteca. Beef was not as tender as it could have been. The sauce was not as flavorful. But the cheese in the middle was delicious. My buddy ordered the chicken mole. He liked it though he said there was a bitter after taste. I also had a side of corn Tamal. It was tasty.

Disappointed. The queso was good, but everything else was mid. Their tea was some weird mango flavored unsweetened tea. I got the quesadillas w/ Carne asada. The portion was smaller than other restaurants. The cheese was good, but the meat was dry and chalky. The plate came with Pico, gauc and some side salsas (which were awful), yet my quesadillas were soggy with some sort of grease or liquid - certainly don't think that came from the chalky/dry meat. My daughter's carma(??) Quesadillas came with surprise shrimp in them (not listed on that dishes menu). Fortunately she doesn't have a shellfish allergy, so she was able just to pick them out once she discovered that inside. Service was a bit slow. The rest of us were almost finished with our plates before 2 of us even got their plates delivered. I won't go back to this location or any of the others around dfw.

Most of the food here was really good. The only thing I didnt enjoy were the chicharron..steak or pork. They were slimy and not crispy at all. The steak chicharrones is literally a $20 steak taco...one $20 steak taco. Dont recommend. Also, once you kindly send the dish back..you're met with stares and snares from the entire staff.

We have been here many times and really like this restaurant, but we would like for it to be better. First off, we love anything here with steak in it. The Carne Asada is our favorite. The Arrachera and Carne Asada Quesadillas are also amazing. They also have a great selection of amazing margaritas. That said, every time we try to branch out and try any of their seafood dishes, we are disappointed. Last night, my wife had the fish tacos, and they were terrible. Fishy and slimy. But the real reason I was compelled to write this review was the host and another person that might have been the manager (not certain). I made a reservation for 8 people at 7:00 on a Saturday night on Resy. We were celebrating our son’s college graduation, but the ceremony was running long. So I called the restaurant at 5:30 and asked if we could push the reservation to 7:30. They said, “NO PROBLEM.” We walked in right at 7:30, and the manager took a long slow look at her watch and said we were too late for our 7:00 reservation. I said I had called. SHE DID NOT BELIEVE ME!! She wanted to know who I had spoken with. Obviously, I had no idea who I had spoken with. She wanted to know if I spoke to a woman or a man. I told her and she came back saying that no one received my call. I showed her the call and time on my call log on my phone. The whole thing was a nightmare with my 90 year old mother standing in the host area with NO CHAIRS! We were eventually seated and our server was exceptional as always - so was the Carne Asada. However, the way our situation was handled was unacceptable and unprofessional. I was embarrassed, and for what I paid for that dinner, I expect better service. DO BETTER!

Not sure what has happened, maybe the general slowdown of all restaurants, but this place has taken a dive. Everything was….bland. Like, unseasoned. Not even a hint of a bite of heat in the “spicy” stuff. Nothing was improperly cooked, just…unremarkable. And there’s no salt on the tables, so I had to awkwardly ask for some. Salt makes food taste like food..so please use it. Our waiter disappeared for the entire meal, so had to flag down the hostess for water refills, check, a spoon so I could have my soup, and etc. What used to be our fav place for TexMex is now just El Chico.

It is a Friday night. They had a whole indoor full. I guess they were not prepared. I didn't get my water for more than 2 hours. The drink I have ordered never came. I ordered the Betabel salad and charred brussel sprouts. They both tasted fine. But a fruit fly came from my salad. They took my salad away, saying it is just a fruit fly. Didn't offer anything else. They took the salad off the bill. We were big party with 4 tables. The ice cream recover made for the children. They were quite upset. Couple of times, I poured my own water since I didn't get any drinks either. I requested a glass of water from the bar for a friend. We had to go to the cash register to pay the bill. Never had an experience anywhere like this before. They were nice but not successful. I have enjoyed the other location before. Not sure what was wrong since we didn't get any apologies or explanation.

Incredibly mid. The chips were weirdly shaped and tasted way too bland, the salsa tasted burnt. The service was pretty horrible as well. Took forever, and the waitress handed the check to my mom? And not my dad? That’s failed basic mannerism. The queso was excellent tho, and so was the rice. For that I’ll give two stars. My main course was the queso blanco enchilada. Was pretty good except for the corn tortillas, some bits were VERY tough and crunchy, and tasted a bit off. Lastly, the chairs are horrible and uncomfortable, our table was broken too. I would come back, to a different location, or in a few years. But as for now, I will not come back.

Overpriced, had to ask for salsa for the chips 4 times, asked for a spicy salsa for my entree and didnt receive it until I had 1 bite left of my dinner and they charged me for it on top of that, a glass of simple lemonade was $12, there was no hand soap in the ladies bathroom. Positive: Brisket enchiladas tasted good, salsas tasted fresh.

Drinks - great Salsas - terrible Food - terrible. this review is limited to the vegetarian cuisine. There just seemed to be a general lack of effort in this area. We ordered 4 of the 6 vegetarian offerings, and they were more or less the same things. The only difference was perhaps the tomatillo sauce in the enchiladas. Rice and veggies were all steamed with zero flavor. Not even salt was added. The beans did have a good flavor, but folks if you’re gonna offer a type of cuisine to guests (and I did appreciate the effort to offer to vegetarians), at least put some effort in. The presentation of the food was great, the taste was well natural - every vegetable could be tasted in its natural, base flavor. I’m sure the meat menu is great based on other reviews.

Food was bland. I asked for spicy sauce for the chips and the claimed it was habanero sauce. It tasted like ketchup mixed with Sriracha sauce. They then brought me chopped up Serrano peppers for heat. These people charged us for the sauce and Serrano peppers. I ordered arrachera, grilled skirt steak. It was bland, no cilantro or lemon taste, it looked very grey. No taste, missing salt. It also came with a jalapeno pepper that tasted like bell pepper. Does the steak look like the one in their website. No. Would I recommend this place? Absolutely not. Don't waste your $$ here. Ordered a Bourbon Margarita that I’ve ordered several times. It was watery and was no where near what they have served in the past. This Margarita was $17 and I told the waitress that it wasn’t good and not like anything they have served in the past. She laughed it off and’s did nothing about it. As a former waiter, you 100% either take that drink off the bill or bring the customer one that is properly made. I did not demand nor request she do so but was wondering how they have trained their wait staff. I don’t think i will be returning.

We chose Meso Maya for our gathering of 4. The hostess and our waiter were wonderful. The server who brought the food out, put the dinner we ordered down on top of our app plates, without clearing the table first and without a word. He just walked off. As someone who has been to this restaurant 40-50 times at least in the past, I am questioning whether I'll ever come back. The management needs to address how they are allowing this server to interact with their customers. This server should not be allowed out of the back.
