The chef was very friendly when I spoke to him on the phone. We came in that afternoon and enjoyed a light dinner and drinks with them. Our waiter was very helpful and attentive. I had the uni ( my favorite) and hard to find where we live. My wife had King salmon, a first for her. We split the edamame, and as a surprise the chef came out with two hand rolls-tacos, that were unbelievably good and unique. The nori was covered in plastic that you removed right before you ate it to keep the nori crispy. We were both surprised how good they were. And to top that all they were on the house. Another stand out item is their pickled wasabi, a first for us, and very good. We will definitely be coming back next time we are in plato. Keep up the good work.
I definitely recommend sitting in the bar area. It has such a great vibe in the bartenders are very exceptional in their service! The food is delicious and the semi shuffle make almost anything to order as well which is different than many places, so this is a fantastic place to eat if you need one!!!
I've had sushi at Nobu and Matsuhisa; at the Tokyo fish market; in Kobe and Manhattan; and at Katsuya in the San Fernando Valley where it all began. Alfred, a proud Mexican chef who has mastered Japanese cuisine, holds his own with all of them. This attractive sushi bar sits inauspiciously in a strip mall. Who knew a true artist could be found behind the sushi bar. I found him by accident on a business trip, and have come back expressly to have dinner with him. No idea how he sources such excellent fish but he does and then creates. Not to be missed if you find yourself within a days drive.
I have always wanted to try this place and yesterday was the day. What a great experience. The food was DELICIOUS, the service was fantastic and the restaurant is so pretty. We ordered the miso soup (best we ever had), the lobster mega roll and the baked crab roll. Everything was top notch. If you are looking for fresh sushi this is the place to go. The blue fish will now be our go to place.
Very good good. Loved the volcano sushi plate, the different sushi types was also hood. Also the calamari appetizer was good although small for our table of 5. We also ordered teriyaki chicken which was little bland but the waitress was nice enough to bring extra sauce which helped alot with the taste.
Sushi and other Japanese food with my darling daughter ❤️ today. The Blue Fish is in a shopping center, but going inside immediately transports you to Tokyo! It's visually stunning! I had the bento box, and she had the tuna tower. Great food and very efficient waitstaff. It's now on my list of favorite eating places in the North Texas area.
I came with a friend for a weekday lunch. Love the easy parking and quick service. Didn’t have to fight for tables either! I had the lunch bento which was delicious and filling. Friend ordered some sashimi which unfortunately wasn’t that fresh. I don’t like when salmon sashimi still has the skin either. Would come again for the bento but would probably pick oishii over this place for sashimi.
I had the 121 Sushi and the popcorn shrimp off the Happy Hour menu. They don't have many items on the Happy Hour menu so I wouldn't recommend the Happy Hour if your looking for a deal on food and drinks. The sushi is amazing, it is a little pricey (17.95) for 6 rolls. But it was worth every bite. I do think they could add more rolls to the Happy Hour or at least do half off on the standard rolls. Service was ok, staff seem to kind of rush you with picking up plates too early when we weren't done yet.
Wow oh wow was that the most tastiest dumplings I have ever had! Sapporo black is the new Guinness for me! What a flavor with the zip of the dipping sauce and the crispy cruch of the dumplings. The blue is very calming while eating and relaxing. I really enjoyed the flavors but the menu is not for the faint of heart. Kinda pricy but it is in an area of hotela, conferences, and travellers dropping some cash. Def recommend checking it out.
I recently moved to the Dallas area and came across the Blue Fish in passing. I stopped by on a weekday around 8pm. There wasn't a crowd and I was in and out in about an hour. The inside was nice. It had an upbeat, modern feel. The Korean-style short rib entree was delicious. The meat was tender and flavorful. I thought I would enjoy the sweet potato purée more than what I did but overall it was a good choice.
This was not a great experience at all. The food was ok but the service killed the entire vibe for me. There were two tables in the bar and it literally took our server over 10 - 15min to get anything we asked for [water, hot rock, wasabi etc..] The only good thing was the atmosphere and the happy hour prices. I will not be back.
Food was decent, service was mediocre and pricing was ridiculous. Would NOT recommend. I understand, having owned a food service business with high rent/overhead and the pressure it places on the owners to raise prices, etc. but the pricing at this place is way above market, and for no good reason. Their service, food quality/quantity and selection are no better than the competition, and for many dishes they fall below that mark. Several of us were interested in ordering a Bento Box, etc.. but those meals are only offered Mon-Fri. So, we searched the menu for other options. The Bulgogi and Brown rice was abysmal - the dish was bland, luke-warm when it came out and the rice was mushy, overcooked and tasteless. The Volcano Roll had good flavor, was hot when it came out but was underwhelming - a Volcano roll is normally covered with shredded crab, scallops and fish chunks smothered in spicy mayo, then baked. This one was a California roll, with a dozen very small scallops on top and drenched in spicy mayo... not what you'd expect (especially for $21.00 a roll!!) [ even a hole in the wall in Bonham, Bamboo House, has better hand made rolls and for half the price!] The 121 roll was very good - hot when it arrived, full of flavor, etc. Only down side, the $18 a roll price tag. Side note; initially they said we could NOT split tickets, for a large, multi-family birthday party!! That we had to order on one ticket. In the end the manager did approve, for those of us who asked, to split the tab. ALONG WITH AN 18% gratuity, that the food nor staff had earned. In the end, we had a great time.. but that was due to the family and friends we were with; the restaurant added nothing of value to the event, unfortunately. Needless to say, we won't be returning and would recommend folks who are looking for a good dining experience, with good service and food options, to look elsewhere. UPDATE: Interestingly, the owner didn't see fit to respond to my original review, but DID when I changed a typo. That should speak volumes about the level of service they offer.
