We stopped in here on Christmas Eve while trying to find some live music and it was exactly what we were looking for. We heard salsa music from down the street and sure enough when we approached people were dancing and having a great time. The place was filled with mostly locals which was a good sign for us. The drinks weren't cheap but they were very good and HUGE! My husband's beer was about the size of my arm and my margarita was equally as large and delicious. The main reason for my 5 stars is the atmosphere. This is exactly the vibe we were looking for! People were dancing, singing, clapping along, cheering on others as they had a little dance competition (someone's Abuela won a 26 of tequila with some incredible dance moves). I'm coming back here before we leave PDC for sure!! Also if you get your picture taken here they will put it on a bottle of tequila for you to take home. So cute and fun!

The dish I ordered wasn’t terrible but I enjoyed my son’s fajita order instead of mine! The service and atmosphere are great and family friendly. Alexis, our server, was very attentive and even helped to get the Longhorn game on TV for us. There are many options on 5a Avenida in Playa, this was a great decision!

This is my go-to spot every time I’m in Playa. The food is absolutely delicious, and you can tell everything is prepared with care. The service is amazing; everyone is so friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. I love that they have live music at night; it adds such a fun and vibrant atmosphere! They also have a nice air-conditioned room, which makes it perfect to relax and enjoy your meal on a hot day. I’ll always make a point to go to Karen’s no matter what. My personal favorites are the seafood soup and their margaritas, which are perfectly balanced. Every visit feels special, and there’s always something new on the menu I want to try.

Karen’s Restaurant is a lively spot right on 5th Avenue. The staff is super friendly and fun — they’ll even dance with you! They have live music every night. The food is tasty, especially the Fachjitas. I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a good time and entertainment while you eat. Definitely worth a visit for the experience!

En mi caso particular, puedo hablar bien del servicio, la verdad es que sí tratan de ser muy atentos (una persona de nuestro grupo fue y le indicó al mesero cómo queria una ensalada que no estaba en el menu, entoces por ese lado estuvo bien). Uno de mis "pero" es que había pedido una bebida y me trajeron algo diferente (tener cautela con lo que traen y reclamar en el momento). El hecho de que te pidan de ley arriba del 15% (no negociable) no me agradó del todo, no sé si así tenga que ser, lo ignoro. En general, lo recomiendo más para, justamente, público extranjero, pero para nacionales, siento que pudieran buscar otras opciones más diversas alrededor. En cuanto a comida, mis tacos de pescado tenían la tortilla algo fria y se terminaron de deshacer :/

Fuimos a desayunar en el 2022. Muy bueno el lugar. Lo único que no me gusto, que el que nos atendió me preguntó si queria dejar una reseña en alguna página que no recuerdo. Y al querer hacerlo me preguntó si queria su ayuda, supuse que tenía alguna complejidad asi que dije que si y el mozo agarra mi celular, escribe la reseña el poniendo que su atención fue excelente y me devuelve el celular. No me gusto eso. Asi que aquí dejo mi reseña como corresponde.

La comida muy rica, el servicio un poco lento, pero amables. El lugar es lindo, recomiendo llegar con tiempo para poder quedar en el sector de aire acondicionado. De igual forma el otro sector tiene ventiladores y no se siente tan caluroso.

Bonito lugar, muy decorado con personajes, por eso entramos. El servicio estuvo bien, la comida estuvo bien, pero lo encontré caro, creo que nuevamente es por estar en la quinta avenida. No valió el costo de esa cena

Un restaurante con ambiente familiar muy agradable, muy rápido y bueno el servicio, las quesabirrias 10/10 y el huarache delicioso con bastante cantidad, el guacamole lo preparan frente a tu mesa (al momento), piña colada con sabor natural 😉. Regresaremos pronto.🥰

Atención buena, comida bien, variedad también, y precio bastante accesible

Buscaba algo para refrescarme y un aperitivo en lo que me dirigía al restaurante que ya había elegido. Encontramos una promo de 2x1 en algunas bebidas. Pedimos un queso fundido con chorizo. En lo personal me quedé con la idea que el precio era de $175 y con el chorizo aumentó al rededor de $100. Lejos de eso el sabor era bueno, ambiente tranquilo sin música fuerte. El lugar es temática mexicana muy bonito y limpio. El mesero nos atendió muy bien.

Super fun atmosphere, very lively with a great love band. We only shared calamari and it wasn't terrible but it certainly wasn't great with. Drinks were good!

Un sitio muy bonito con un personal no muy agradable y una comida de calidad medio baja. El servicio atentos hasta que vio que no pedimos mucho ahí se dejó de interesar, la comida flojita y de no mucho nivel, un sitio muy bonito y con el fútbol en directo

Rico, barato, lindo lugar, comimos unos nachos que estaban muy buenos con un pote de 4 cervezas. Pareció barato. El servicio se sintió que nos apuró bastante y ni hablar la mexicaneada cuando trajo la cuenta (374 mxn) me dijo que con el servicio era 450 (obvio q no lo decía en ningún lado y se lo metió en el bolsillo). Esas son las cosas que dan pena de lugares así q no los controla nadie

They were a bit too pushy trying to sell souvenirs from the restaurant, which I didn’t like. The food was very simple and basic — not something I would come back for. They do have a live band and mariachi, which was nice. Overall, it was okay

This place gets a 3 because I ordered the steak fajitas,asked for no cheese on it. And it they could put a little cheese on the side for friends to try the cheese.. because its just not agreeing with me anymore. Got a platter loaded with cheese after the waiter told me they could do no cheese. When I asked to change it the waiter just shrugged and said it's what it come with. So I spent 844 pesos on a Pina colada and a fajita platter I could barely eat. Didn't tip. I'm a chef of 22 years you mess up an order. You replace it. Not tell me it is what it is... You have to pay for it still.

A nice tapas bar in Playa de Carmen with good food and great entertainment. We really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, we had to pay three times the price of the meal when we invited the waiter for a tequila and he then charged us around $19 per shot. We didn't think that was right.

La comida es buena; sin embargo, el servicio está claramente orientado al público extranjero. El mesero nos llevó la cuenta y nos indicó el total ya con una propina “obligatoria” del 15%. El momento resultó muy incómodo, pues la forma en que lo planteó se sintió más como una exigencia que como una sugerencia. Además, no se retiró hasta confirmar que habíamos dejado exactamente la cantidad indicada. Para cerrar, al salir ni siquiera recibimos un agradecimiento. Lamentablemente, ese episodio opacó por completo la experiencia gastronómica

My group was brought to this restaurant by our tour guide after our excursion. We arrived and their was a whirlind of smiles, big sombreros, and pictures by their photographer. All before we were given drinks. The food was good. The waiter was very friendly and attentive. As other reviewers have said, it is very touristy and prices are higher. My margarita was about $15. My only disappointment is the photographer. He badgered us to buy the photos for $25. The options are: individual photo on a bottle of alcohol (cheap, non-labelled tequila) or a group photo in a picture frame. The bottle was labeled as 100ml. **important, remember for later. The photographer promised it could be brought on the plane. We requested just an individual photo however he said this was not possible. After much conversation and negotiating, I bought the alcohol bottle with the photo and he allowed 2 people at my table to buy just their photos for $13.50 each. We went on our way. Fast forward to the airport when it's time to leave. TSA pulls my bag and states the bottle is not 100ml. I will either need to check it or they will have to confiscate it. I cut my losses and off my bottle goes. All that to say, DON'T buy the souvenir bottle unless you plan on checking it!!

Muy mala atención, comida fría, porciones pequeñas y poco sabrosa. El mozo se hizo el simpático a la hora de cobrar, y cuando vio que dejamos menos propina de la sugerida nos hizo mala cara y se retiro sin agradecernos. No volvería

Trampa para turistas. La comida deja mucho que desear, estos son los tacos de carne de res, por casi 200 pesos recibes 3 tortillitas y carne seca, terrible. La nueva forma que tienen los meseros para sacar dinero a los comensales es que te llevan la cuenta, te dan menos cambio, cuando te entregan el cambio ya no llevan la cuenta de nuevo. Mi cuenta fue de 425 (por 2 sopas y estos tacos) pagué con 500 (obvio el mesero ya no quería dar cambio), me entregó 25 de cambio y dijo "fueron 475, no me vas a dar propina?" (pero ya no llevó la cuenta de nuevo) así que le tuve que dar otros 20 pesos, cuando ya se había quedado con 50 más los 45. Tengan mucho cuidado con los meseros, revisen y tomen foto a la cuenta. Por una propina de 100 pesos aprendí la lección de la nueva forma que tienen los meseros para sacar dinero de los clientes. No recomiendo pata nada que vengan a este restaurante, sobre todo por culpa de ese mesero. Tourist trap. The food is very low quality, these are the beef tacos, for almost 200 pesos you get 3 small tortillas and dry meat, terrible. The new way that waiters have to get money from costumers is that they take the bill, they give you less change, when they give you the change they don't take the bill again. My bill was 425 (for 2 soups and these tacos) I paid with 500 (obviously the waiter didn't want to give change anymore), he gave me 25 change and said "it was 475, will not give me tip?" Una auténtica vergüenza!! Nos cobraron casi 40€ de propina y no venia puesta en el ticket y al pasar la tarjeta lo vi en la cuenta del banco ! Nos dice el camarero que es por el servicio , la propina no la ponéis vosotros la propina la pone el cliente y cada uno es libre de dar propina o no pero lo que vosotros hacéis en mi país es ROBAR Y ESTAFAR A LA GENTE !

Horrible en todo, restaurantes austero con pesima comida y muy cara no lo vale, lo peor de todo es que el mesero nos exigió propina casi obligatoria nos miro con mala cara aun asi dejamos el 10 % y dice que eso no sirve. Mejor nos fuimos por eso siempre esta vacío el lugar. Mejor no vallan hay mejores restaurantes de comida como el Fogón ahi si vale la pena ir.

THERE WAS A FISH BONE IN MY BREAKFAST FOOD We went to Karen’s Restaurante on Quinta Avenida for breakfast because they were advertising a 189 MXN combo (bread, fruit, juice, coffee, etc.). The location is convenient, but the experience left a bad taste. When we ordered one combo to share, the server reacted angrily and repeatedly pressured my partner to order more food — which felt uncomfortable and unprofessional. When asked about the drink size, we chose “large” to share, and afterward the bill showed the drink charged at 130 MXN — which, added to the combo, pushed our total to over 400 MXN. That’s nearly double what we expected and felt like a bait-and-switch. To make matters worse, when I tried to take a photo of the receipt, the server came over and snatched it from my hand. We still left a 20% tip, but the combination of rude service and misleading pricing means I won’t be going back. If you visit, double-check prices before ordering.
