One of the best pizzas we’ve ever had!! Staff was awesome, fixings were fresh and sauce on pizza was wonderful! We split a medium Tommy special pizza and we’re bursting at the seams!
Thank you for making my Birthday week home to CT FABULOUS.. your grinders and onion rings are fabulous. I'll be back EVERYTIME I come home and DANG SURE once I move HOME...
Love this pizza. Reminds me of Georges greek style pizza I grew up on from hartford! Crust is always thick crispy and never burnt! Their wings are pretty good too!
Absolutely LOVE their antipasto, especially with their house made dressing! I know live 180 miles away but wanted to stop in for an antipasto and also bought some salad dressings to go, and drove them home for the family to enjoy..... I have been going to Tommy's since I was a little girl and remember the sut down Space Invaders game 😄
Went to Tommy’s Pizza for a small meatball pizza. I had never been there before and wasn’t sure what to expect. After just one bite I was blown away by the incredible flavor! Tommy’s Pizza is the best pizza around and I definitely recommend you try it!
The pizza and sauce are excellent. I ate here out of curiosity and was blown away. It was cheese and pepperoni nothing too fancy. Highly recommend. Three stars for the atmosphere due to just ordering and leaving. It doesn't strike me as a dine-in kind of place.
This place is putting out A class pizza! Ordered through slice, order was just coming out of the oven when arrived, Beautiful young lady at the counter greeted me let me know my pizza will be right up, while she was constructing a meatball and chicken parm subs that looked gigantic and made with love even though she was rushing around she paid attention to the chicken parm & meatballs, cheese and spreading the sauce! This will be my next order but back to my pie, The crust with just the right amount of crunch, sauce slightly sweet but not over powered with basil oregano etc, and all toppings were all perfect! I had the Tony's special! I would give it a strong 9.2 on a scale of one through 10. Keep up the Good work Bill!!! This Establishment is worth some travel or when in the area. You will not be disappointed. Keep reading update below Thanks again one more time for my great Friday night 🍕! So Today 11/21/23 I go back for the Meatball and chicken parm subs, actually great sub I went 16" for both food was amazing but by accident I gave the cashier 10 dollars extra. I realized as I was getting into the car, so I ho back explain it to the cashier nobody knows what to do so some guy comes up like I was causing an issue and acts like nothing to see here! So packed it up and went home. Just left me feeling some sort of way, food was great and everyone makes mistakes, this was my fault but the young lady wasn't paying attention, the guy could have asked for my number and when the register is cashed out and when they find 10 bucks over call Me no big deal, but that didn't happen real life stuff. Food is great I will be back buy I had to add this cause I feel it wasn't right.
I visited Tommy’s Pizza Palace with some friends and had a nice experience! The owner was very friendly and attentive, and the pizza and dishes we shared were good. I don’t often have Greek pizza, so it was a nice change, and I felt they did it well! I love the classic pizza parlor vibes and how unchanged it seemed to be. Special shout-out on the cold cut grinder, which was really tasty!
Great greek style pizza! I ordered a sausage and mushroom pizza and it was amazing. There was plenty of sauce and cheese and the sausage is wonderful. The crust had lots of flavor too! I also got some wings and loved them. They gave me plenty of blue cheese which could be homemade (not sure)either way, it's SO GOOD. **edited to add: After reading countless reviews on the antipasto and house made dressing I had to try it. IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT. The dressing is simply delectable and the salad was huge!
My husband and I love Tommy’s! My mother- in- law and her family are all from Italy and make phenomenal homemade pies, so Tommy’s had some seriously high standards to meet with us. Tommy’s exceeded those standards, and we order from there almost every Friday now. Tommy’s sauce is delicious- not too sweet- and so flavorful. I also love that they are very generous with the cheese (my favorite part). Our son, without fail, gets the wings, but begs me to save him the crust, which he says is the best crust around (again- he has high standards considering his Nonna makes her pizza, dough and sauce from scratch). You just can’t beat a family owned business who makes great food and cares deeply about their community. Keep up the great work, Tommy’s!!
Having lived in Portland CT my entire life Tommy’s Pizza is ALWAYS my go to spot for great pizza, grinders, burgers and chicken wings!!! If your looking for a delicious meal in Portland or any other town Tommy’s Pizza is the place to go!!! They listen to your order (I like my pizza cooked a certain way and always cut in squares) Tommy’s ALWAYS listens to my out of the ordinary orders and always gets the order right and it’s DELICIOUS every time!!! I would recommend Tommy’s to anyone!! Not to mention that even in a pandemic their prices are some of the best around!!! Tommy’s is a staple of Portland and a great family owned restaurant that treats ALL OF THEIR CUSTOMERS AS FAMILY ALSO!!!
Tommy’s has to be one of our favorite places! The meatball grinders are the absolute best, the sliced meatballs are a huge hit in our house! My moms favorite is the clams casino pizza, she always says be sure to tell Sarah it was delicious, this is coming from a lady who has made clams casino most of her life! My favorite is the bonless Buffalo chicken salad with their amazing Vasili Greek dressing, my go to for sure! Well worth a visit or two or three! Family run, and our family favorite!
I absolutely love this place! I used to live in Portland and have since moved out of town. I travel back to Portland just for the delicious chicken! The grilled chicken salad is our favorite, and the house dressing is SO yummy. The portion size of the large salad is perfect for sharing and the price is quite reasonable. The staff is friendly and has never messed up our order! We also love that the chef is so grateful every time we mention how much we love the chicken. It’s juicy, and seasoned just right. You will not be disappointed, delicious food and great staff.
Super fresh, high quality, flavorful ingredients on their pizza. Excellent thick crust pizza with just the right amount of crunch. Plenty of full-fat, real mozzarella. You can taste the fennel in the chunks of real italian sausage and the oregano in the pizza sauce. And we worked with a pizza owner in the past, so we know the differences that can exist in the quality of ingredients used. Reasonably priced. Friendly staff. It's our only go-to for pizza now! Just get some!
$22 for a small 12 inch pizza and you have to pay for ranch/bluecheese. Very loud in there too with their air conditioner. Should have gone somewhere else
It was the first time I had visited this restaurant in decades. When I was a child my family ordered from them often. I ordered two grinders: one meatball and one sausage. Unfortunately, I was disappointed by the meat in both sandwiches. The meatball did not resemble any I had seen before—it came in large slices similar to meatloaf, yet lacked any real meat texture and flavor. The sausage, while shaped correctly, also failed to taste and chew like sausage. Despite my dissatisfaction with the meats, I found the bread, cheese, mushrooms, onions, and peppers to be good.
I ordered up a pickup order through Slice. I ordered a medium buffalo chicken pizza for a total of almost $30, which is a pretty steep price for a 14 inch pizza even when compared to the overpriced places on Main Street in Middletown. The description for my pizza on Slice said it included blue cheese (photograph of menu included.) When I went to pick up the pizza, I was met by an annoyed sounding working rolling her eyes telling me “we will be with you in a minute”. Being stressed/rushed is understandable, but the place was empty so I’m not sure what the attitude was related to. Maybe they had a lot of takeout orders for dinner rush, not sure. After waiting a bit in the (empty) restaurant, my pizza was handed to me. At which time they tried to tell me blue cheese wasn’t included and wanted to shake more money out of me for it. No thank you. I’m not paying extra for an item listed on your menu as included…especially when your pizza is already overpriced as it is. Beyond the false advertisement on the menu, the pizza was…mediocre and small. The crust and cheese were on the border between okay and good. However, the chicken was an inedible level of dry. Had one slice and that was enough for me. The trash bin can have the rest. Overall, definitely won’t be going back here. For the price, you can get something significantly better without being nickled and dimed every step of the way. Sad because I heard good things about this place too.
Despite my low rating, I am attempting as a long-term customer to be as fair in this review as possible, and cover both the upsides and downsides of this place based on my own experience. I can't speak for anyone else. I almost always order, and have only rarely dined in the actual restaurant. I don't know for sure what goes on in management, and would advise my review be taken with a grain of salt. I can share only what I've seen and what I can guess is happening based on it. Over the long time I've lived in Portland, I've watched this restaurant decline. It used to be THE place to get pizza in town since Russo's closed all those years ago. However, recently they appear to have moved to a nonsensical cooking methodology, whereby instead of having a dedicated cook or cooks so that food quality is consistent, they simply have whoever is available cook. This leads to the place seemingly playing Russian Roulette with your food quality. You never know whether your food is going to be of decent quality, or whether it's going to end up tasting like flavored cardboard (which it usually does, at least with my orders). Their wait staff appears to cycle out so quickly that it's become common practice to see a new person taking your order every week or so, and turnover appears high. And after *two years*, they still can't seem to hire a delivery driver. Everything has to either be eat in or pick-up. For handicapped people or those that otherwise can't get to the place, you're S.O.L. unless you want to further risk food quality drop by ordering from a delivery app. And then there's the problem of being left on hold. The service is mildly frustrating at normal times, and ATROCIOUS when they're busy. Oftentimes, I have been left on hold for up to ten minutes, sometimes with them not even getting back to me at all. On the plus side they're at least friendly and the restaurant is clean and has a good atmosphere, so I imagine that all of these problems with service and food quality are due to hard financial times and inexperienced staff rather than any sort of malice. I do get the impression they're trying their best. Even so, I find it hard to want to order from here anymore. I've held out hope things will improve. But they don't seem to be.
