Si visitas Puebla y quieres probar comida típica poblana, Fonda Santa Clara es una excelente opción. Es un restaurante tradicional donde puedes encontrar una gran variedad de platillos de la gastronomía poblana, especialmente sus moles, que son una de sus especialidades. Los platillos que pedimos estuvieron deliciosos y con muy buen sabor. El servicio fue amable durante toda la visita. Además, el restaurante se percibe limpio, agradable y con precios accesibles.

Excelente sabor! En mis visitas por Puebla he venido a comer varias veces aquí y es muy delicioso. Gracias a Ricardo que nos atendió muy amablemente.

Wow, I absolutely devoured my chanclas. By far the best sauce I've had with the dish, a little heat and lots of depth of flavour. The torta were full of chicken and drowned by the sauces. Absolutely delicious. The cafe de olla was the nicest I've had in Puebla. The bread served with it was crusty on the outside, soft inside and so good. 100 percent will be back for breakfast tomorrow.

We didn't love the cholupa much but the Mole Poblano is our favorite mole the entire trip so far. We weren't really hungry so we only ordered 1 appetizers and 1 mole. They were very nice, they splited it into 2 portions for us evenly without us asking. Our server was so nice, friendly and warm. Appreciate him very much!

We are vacationing here in Puebla and our taxi driver recommended this restaurant. Wow not just the food was excellent, but the ambiance was great! It has an old world charm and the service was the best. Ricardo took very good care of us! We plan on coming back to try some of there other specialties like their mole!

So in here the chile en nogada weighted half a kilo and was big enough to share. We share for two people and it was delicious. Only one cost $550, so once divided given the size felt fair for the price. The flavor!! The cream is truly made out of pecans, the filling had olives and other delicious things. I would 100% eat here again. The service was great as well! I left a bag and forgot it in the restaurant after I left and remembered after 15 min, came back to the restaurant and they had put it away for safety. Obviously I was able to get it back. We got there when it was like 30 minutes before closing and were able to finish our food just in time as well.

Great introduction to a lot of classic Puebla foods here, with seasonal specialty and in a great central location. We had mole poblana and sopa de pollo as well as the house special pollo frito. All were delicious. You can choose the type of meat you'd like with your mole which is a nice touch! (Leg every day!) Lovely setting in the historic centre but a very homely and nice feeling of home cooking.

What a cute place! The taxi driver that took us to our airbnb from the airport recommended this place and it did not disappoint! We shared a chile en nogada and when I tell you it was scrumptious 😋 I mean it was perfection. If you go during season which is July thru September you have to try one. It is big and easily split they even cut it for you during preparation. We asked for a sample of the mole poblano and it was quite tasty. We both got margaritas the brown is tamarind. Pink I don’t remember.

As someone originally from Puebla but raised in the States, I grew up with amazing mole, so I was excited to discover that Puebla has another well-known dish. After some research, Fonda de Santa Clara came up with excellent reviews, so I had to give it a try. I received a warm welcome and was seated quickly. There was live music in the restaurant. However, after the music ended, the performers went around asking for donations. I had only caught part of one song and didn’t have any cash on me. When I politely declined, the performer didn’t seem pleased and gave me an uncomfortable stare before moving on to other guests. Despite that awkward moment, the service was efficient, and the food arrived in a reasonable time. The mole tasted very similar to my mom’s—rich and flavorful but a bit sweeter and less spicy. The restaurant's specialty dish, however, was outstanding! I’m glad to say that Puebla truly knows how to make amazing food. Overall, I highly recommend this place for an authentic Puebla dining experience.

I heard Puebla is known for their mole, and this place is supposedly one of the best places for that. I tried the entree that came with 4 enchiladas topped with 4 different moles. I was not a fan of the peach one. My favorite one was the green mole. My cousins preferred the original one. Overall, all the food was good. They had live music, and the service was phenomenal.

Cada que visito Puebla voy a comer a este lugar. Sin embargo, en esta última visita se le nota que no todo es para siempre y que quizás sus mejores épocas ya están por pasar. Aunque los platillos y el servicio siguen bastante decentes, noté que solo había un mesero atendiendo y que, en esta ocasión, no quisieron asignar mesa en el segundo piso bajo argumento de que estaban limpiando, lo cual no era cierto… Más bien fue que era solo un mesero y muy pocos comensales. Mantiene la calidad, pero en los menús, los baños, la grifería de los baños, etc. se le nota ya un poco la edad y el contundente paso del tiempo

Es un lugar muy bonito, hogareño, tradicional, la comida me pareció buena, pero de todo, lo que destacó fue el chile en nogada, en fuera, un lugar regular para comer.

el lugar tiene una estética muy tradicional lo cual me parece agradable, para desayunar tiene una carta con diferentes presentaciones de huevos, los huevos poblanos son buenos pero esperaba más, la atención es excelente, muy respetuosos, amables y fue lo que más me agrado, también tienen platillos típicos y siento que les falta sabor, volvería solo por la atención.

Muy rica la comida, el servicio del mesero excelente, ya que nos recomendó varios platillos entre ellos unas enchiladas con mole 10/10 y la bebida muy rica, aunque lamentablemente hubo un inconveniente desagradable ya que alce mi mano para que algún mesero se acercara y me ignoraron, no están atentos, sin embargo él mesero que nos atendió Miguel, llego con nuestros platillos con gran rapidez y sin demora, Ojalá y fueran más apáticos los demás meseros y estén al pendientes. We had mole with chicken there two days ago. It was excellent and the servive was exceptional. Therefore, we decided to go there again next day. The person who served us this time was different. He was a bit pushy. He encouraged us to go with lamb, which he said was seasonal and will stop to be served in the next two days. In addition, he asked us to choose starters too, which we did. We didn't enjoy the second day meals as much as the first one. Moreover, the starters were not very fresh either. It wasn't value for money at all.

I recently had an amazing experience at this place! The moles were absolutely delightful, and I couldn't resist trying the pork chop with three different moles. Out of all of them, the light brown mole stole the show for me—it was simply exquisite! The drinks were refreshing, and my family's dishes were nothing short of delicious. One standout was the Chanclas, which really impressed everyone at the table. Overall, it was a fantastic meal that I can't wait to revisit!

Good place to try mole poblano, though I always prefer the tres mole for the variety. Service was good but--a small thing--the smoke detectors throughout the restaurant beeped every few minutes, indicating that their batteries were low and setting off a veritable symphony of beeps that grew rather tiresome. A minor thing and easily rectified, so I can only assume it will no longer be an issue by the time this review gets read.

Incredible mole poblano and Chile en nogada. We were lucky enough to eat a chile en nogada on the first official day of the chile season and it was incredible. The price is not on the menu so ask before you buy or you’ll be surprised to find out it costs 479 pesos. It was worth the price to try this amazing dish. Our server was super efficient and professional with great recommendations- definitely try the special drink with tamarind juice, pineapple juice, a few other fruit juices I forgot, and mezcal. The atmosphere was a bit too quiet with no music, which made for a slightly awkward meal. Definitely worth a visit for the mole and chile en nogada.

Excellent food & service. Menu in English is available. We had Enchiladas Tres Moles and the poblano cerdo guisado, both with the onion soup as a starter. Delicious!

Al mole le falto estar caldoso, poco arroz, el pollo buena porción. Las chalupas la carne seca y un poco dura. El postre pan envinado estaba bueno.

Un lugar que recomiendan mucho para ir a comer si estás en el centro de la ciudad, en una casona por lo que tiene muchos espacios de diferentes tamaños en los que puedes comer. De la comida probamos la chalupitas, de las cuales la carne deshebrada estaba sabrosa, pero la salsa roja estaba insípida no así la verde. Pedimos un plato de arroz con mole, el cual les recomiendo mucho. Probamos un agua de pepino muy refrescante.

Este lugar me decepcionó mucho porque vi que tienen buenos comentarios sobre la comida. Nunca he tenido una mala experiencia con la comida en México hasta hace unos días aquí. Pedimos una orden de pambazos como aperitivo y no tenía buen sabor. Los pambazos ya se estaban deshaciendo por tanta salsa que tenía. Los jugos de naranja no tenían sabor a naranja. La comida tenía mucho condimento. Lamentablemente no fue una buena experiencia.
