This was our third visit to Café des Artistes - this time to celebrate my birthday - and it reminded me why this is one of our favorite restaurants in Cabo. The menu is an elegant blend of Mexican and French cuisine, and once again, it did not disappoint. I started with a very smooth Patrón martini. For appetizers, we ordered the tuna tartare and the morels, and for our mains, we had the red snapper and the totoaba. We skipped dessert, but since it was my birthday, they surprised me with a stunning presentation of coffee macarons (see photo). As always, every dish looked like a piece of art, and the live saxophone in the background added the perfect touch to the evening. Will we be back? Absolutely. Thank you for another wonderful night, Café des Artistes.
This is the first review I've ever written, but these guys were so good that they deserved one. The atmosphere was great, the service was outstanding, and the food was something else. The price is pretty high, but it's worth every penny. P.S. Get the pumpkin soup
Impeccable. Thoughtfully designed and done from the moment you grab the menu and the texture is warm and inviting. Seriously, even the feel of the menu is cool! The cuisine tilts towards fancy which isn’t always a good thing but at Cafe Des artistes it work wonderfully. When you get the bread basket, be careful. There is a warm cream cheese roll in there and when you eat it, you will spend the rest of the night wondering why everyone doesn’t serve those! Everything was perfect including the view. The baked cheese was decadent and amazing. You can’t eat like that often but when you do make sure it’s top notch and this certainly does just that. From top to bottom and the fun servings in between make this a great place for a wonderful meal or a special night. Definitely check it out.
This fine dining restaurant offers a truly remarkable experience. With stunning ocean views, impeccable service and meticulously crafted dishes. The setting and decor are nothing short of extraordinary, with a tasteful blend of elegance and sophistication that adds to the overall ambiance.
Beautiful view from the outside seating area, overlooking the adult pool and the ocean in the background. Excellent service. The food was amazingly good and the presentation of each dish was a treat for our eyes.
Café des Artistes was an outstanding dining experience. We celebrated my 50th birthday and wanted a very special dinner. The team exceeded all our expectations. They prepared the best table in the restaurant for us and everybody did a phenomenal job to make the experience special. The cuisine is absolutely top. Everything you expect from high end fine dining. We took the tasting menu with wine pairing. With one word: Perfection! The meticulously crafted food (every plate a piece of art) was accompanied by a very interesting and perfectly matching selection of local and international wines. Thank you!!
Wonderful dinner! Celebrated our engagement, Enrique, Jesus, Juan, and Emlyn were so kind and attentive. Food was absolutely incredible!
My husband and I had our anniversary dinner here on January 27th 2020. We had the pleasure to have Juan as our waiter. He was very patient and prompt in explaining various options on the menu and bringing out our food. For our appetizer we had the soft shell crab and had the short rib and steak for our main course. Pros: 1. Amazing waitstaff (Juan) 2. Very scenic view right on the water with a nice sunset view if you arrive around 6pm. Also, there is a piano playing in the background that sets the mood. 3. Short ribs and steak were definitely something to write home about. Very tender with amazing flavor. 4. The macaroons we absolutely delicious. Which says a lot because I hated them ever since first trying a few years ago in Paris. 5. They brought out a fabulous desert to celebrate our anniversary Cons: (there’s always something right) 1. The soft shell crab was a bit too sweet which I was not expecting. 2. A little pricey. But, definitely worth it if you are celebrating something. Other than that our time there was well spent. Would definitely come back to eat again.
Absolutely loved this restaurant!! The service, food and ambiance was amazing. Upon entering we were treated like family. It's amazing when people are actually happy doing their jobs. Food was absolutely delicious!!! Presentation is everything. Who thought of Foie Gras Creme Brulee?? I had to have it every night that's how good it was. I still think about it!! Tuna and Avocado Tartare was fresh, yummy... We did eat here a few nights. We did not get tired of the food. The menu has such a large selection.
Wow - what a surprise! The first night I visited cafe des artistes was because I didn't want to leave the hotel because 1) I was tired; 2) I was still a little nervous about venturing out because of covid. And what an amazing experience to look back on 2 nights later. Food: 5 star - well executed, amazing flavors, didn't want each dish to end. I'm sure the menu changes but the stand outs to me were the luscious fois gras risotto, short ribs and octopus. (Even though I call out three dishes, everything I had was amazing). Service - 5+ stars - William (Willy) was knowledgeable, friendly, and made great wine recommendations. I never knew Baja had such lovely wines (shame on me). Atmosphere: 5+ - not much to say here except it's an awesome view. All in all, an experience that ranks in the top for me and I highly recommend!
The staff is very friendly and take their time to make the experience personal to you. Adriana showed me several options other than seafood, like lamb. I ordered the pork belly, which was outstanding! When I ordered the cheesecake for dessert, they made it special by surprise for my birthday! The Cafe des artistes, Enrique, Juan and Steve presented every dish to impress!
Colorful, inventive, superior service—a restaurant experience not to be missed when visiting the San Jose Del Cabo area. We stayed at the JW Marriott Los Cabos Beach Resort & Spa for several days and treated ourselves to two visits to Cafe des Artistes (located on the property) for dinner. Each visit to the restaurant was a superior delight. The facility itself is cozy and stunning, decorated with class and whimsy, views out to the ocean, seating inside and outside. The staff greeted us with warm smiles at every turn, seating us at our tables and serving us with topnotch expertise and a sense of steady, slow pacing I love in a great restaurant experience. The server staff is a well-trained, professional team led by a senior expert who monitors and executes dinner like clockwork. The drink menu is a wonderful read, worth spending time lingering over choices. The dinner menu is a collection of varied and wonderfully described dishes and includes a tasting menu option with or without wine. Every dish I experienced was terrific, each a collection of artful and masterful visuals, smells, tastes, and temperatures. The Chef Thierry’s Cream of Prawn and Pumpkin Soup is an absolute MUST ORDER for every visit. The Marinated Broiled Octopus is the best octopus I’ve ever had. The Suckling Lamb was a visual and tasting delight at every bite. The cocktails were all superior—fantastic bartenders! This is top-level dining, so you’ll spend a good amount for the full dinner experience, but I found the prices to be quite reasonable when compared to other restaurants at this level elsewhere in the world. I’ve seen Cafe des Artistes listed as the top or one of the top restaurants in the San Jose del Cabo area—I’d rate it #1. My highest recommendation; one of my favorites of the world’s restaurants.
Excellent service without being intrusive, friendly staff, tasting menu is a must, try the P'yote mezcalini as well as the mezcalita rostizada, both cocktails were great! They went the extra mile to create a special dessert presentation to celebrate our wedding anniversary!
This place is Ambiance! Enjoyed an exceptional meal overlooking the ocean, piano playing in the background and white glove service. Amazing taster menu and they even have a vegan taster menu.
This is just the best one we did (Torro and Acre were amazing too but). This place was just perfect for everything: view, ambiance, decor, service, food... It has a price but it is worth it, no regret for have taken the Degustation Menu ! With a piano player for the ambiance.
Food is great, as good as Vallarta; pork belly, short rib and salmon great. Desserts are great also, only complaint is the lack of fans due to summer heat. Prices are expensive.
Service is incredible here. From the moment we sat until the moment we left we were served by pleasant and professional staff. We were here celebrating our honeymoon and the kitchen made us a very special dessert just for us! The food was incredible I had the beef dish and my husband had the lamb chops. We shared a cheese tasting board. I would recommend this to all!
Food was delicious! Atmosphere amazing 🤩 Wait Staff super friendly. Expensive but you get what you pay for 😊
An incredible dining experience. Superb service. Must haves are the pumpkin soup and risotto for appetizers and the surf and turf.
Delicious food and great service. The prices will reflect this, plan to spend a fair amount of money on dinner. The restaurant itself is beautiful.
Wonderful staff and excellent menu. I loved the habanero chili dessert!
Incredible environment at this hotel restaurant. High end dinner spot for a lovely dinner and drinks. Went here for a birthday dinner and enjoyed every minute. The totoaba fish was the best thing on the menu and the presentation was stunning.
We enjoyed a wonderful meal at Cafe de Artiste for my wife's birthday while staying at Casa Maat. Excellent food and service!
Not cheap, but decent price for premiere hotel restaurant. Interesting dishes. Same chef as the similarly named restaurant in Punta Mita.
Fantastic experience. Great service, amazing food, and awesome ambience. Definitely recommend a visit when in the Los Cabos area.
Fantastic atmosphere and service! Catch of the day was so artfully presented and beyond my wildest expectations. Great place for a special occasion!
Had a wonderful dinner here last night. The tomahawk steak and the totoaba fish were perfect, and our servers Wilberth and Carla were super friendly and attentive.
FOOD WAS SO GOOD. Reasonably priced for the upscale food and atmosphere. Service was great and open kitchen to see them prepare food. Great drinks and good options for dessert. Got fish and steak entrees and wanted to eat more even though I was full.
Beautiful ambience, nice live music, wonderful service, and truly delicious cocktails! We tried the tasting menu and it was a lot of food. We loved the prawn and pumping soup and the passion fruit dessert. It was for a birthday celebration and they surprised us with a beautiful decorated dessert which was very thoughtful and sweet. Highly recommended it.
Enrique and Mayra were amazing waiters, the food was incredible and the view wasn’t bad either. If you go, you have to do the tasting menu. We ate at many places in Cabo but this was the best restaurant by far.
This restaurant experience was unexpected and wonderful. We opted for a two-person tasting menu with wine pairing and had a blast with Daniel, the sommelier, guessing which grapes were being paired with both beautiful and unique plates. The food was elegant, delicious and perfectly prepared. The quality was unexpected because normally, resort restaurants don't need to elevate their menus (they have a fairly captive audience) but this was a dining experience worth traveling to and for.
This one is a very pleasant experience. As you walk in you are greet by a fresh and stylish ambiance, the cellar is right in front of you as the door is opened just to remind you how thoroughly the options were chosen for me tonight. The smooth colors of the place goes along pretty well with the piano music that flows in the air (at certain hours) this is just the beginning of a pleasant evening. As you are escorted to your table and the menu is presented you start to experience an amazing parade of flavors, every dish is made with the best ingredients and cooked by expert hands, just to guarantee an amazing combination, regardless of what you order the result is the same: a flavorful and unique experience. P.D. save some space for dessert, thank me later. FIVE STARS!
The settings of course are magnificent. This restaurant is located in the JW Marriott. A very pleasant terrace with sea view and a beautiful tropical garden . The food was incredible and the service (Isaias / Willy) very professional and attentionate. A little pricey but definitely worth it.
I went there for Valentines Day and it was great. They had a variety of drinks to choose from or wine. I ordered a martini with cactus and then a japeno martini, it was great. The seafood was awesome, some of the best I've had. I made reservations online and they called my room about two hours before to see if I had food allergies or if this was a special occasion. I told them for Valentine's Day so before dinner ended they brought a rose for my fiancé. The service was awesome and good was great, I would recommend.
Really top notch. Staying at the hotel, in part, so I could try this restaurant. They present both an ala carte and Prix Fixe tasting menu - I had the latter ($105) with wine pairing ($30). Theme is Mexican meets French, which they pulled off very well. For those from Houston, it’s reminiscent in quality, ambiance and service of the (unfortunately) now shuttered Phillippe and their celebrity French Cowboy chef. Dallasites could relate to a clone of The Mansion on Turtle Creek. While the cuisine is different, the quality and price points are similar to Frasca, Colorado’s #1 dining venue. Enjoyed a Mezcal Old Fashioned at the beautiful bar, with back lit bottles in front of a golden marble wall. Was very tasty and festive, with the bartender adding a tinge of smoky sweetness and showmanship by lighting a cinnamon stick inside my inverted glass. The tasing menu had 6 or 7 courses (you get an either/or choice for each course). We started slow with a Tomato and Burratta salad - fine, but nothing special. Things dramatically improved with their Shrimp and Pumpkin soup, ladled table side out of a half pumpkin - was killer good! The Grilled Octopus was among the most tender and flavorful I’ve ever had. Foie Gras was excellent, as it almost always is! My main ‘entree’ was in theory Beef Cheeks (a replacement for the lamb they had run out of); I got the impression it was a short rib. But regardless of what part of the steer it came from, it was DIVINE - an equal in flavor and preparation to some of my favorite mains from Michelin starred venues in Europe. Also appreciated the restaurant’s flexibility in letting me swap dessert for a small cheese plate, which was wonderful. Enrique was a very capable, friendly and attentive server. My only quibble with the menu might be the wine pairings, featuring the same by the glass offerings other restaurants on the property were pouring. They were fairly ordinary, though not terrible given the $30 up-charge. The exception would be the Mexican Tempranillo blend, which was fantastic. All in all, a world-class establishment that could/should be awarded a Michelin star. Planning on a Round II dinner as my final meal of the vacation - bon appetit!
What a phenomenal experience! Juan was incredible. His knowledge of the menu and his invaluable suggestions made the evening magical. The sounds of the ocean, a cool breeze on a warm Cabo night, creates memories worth repeating. 🥂
Coursed meal with pairing of art, flavor, and presentation. Juan, my server, was wonderful. An experience, not just a meal. Great step into the beginnings of my Cabos food adventuring.
Yummy pumpkin soup like their place in PV thanks Carlos and team for the great service. Sea bass delicious with no bones. Thanks Open Table for the reservation. Eat here and thanks later.
The many positive reviews of this restaurant are very well deserved and the culinary team at the hotel have created something very special here. French/Mexican fusion may not seem intuitive, but it is actually a perfect combination. The dining room itself is stunningly beautiful; it's like simple Zen meets dramatic Mayan temple. It's a perfectly sized restaurant, I'm estimating less than a hundred seats. It seems like the staff to guest ratio is nearly one to one, but it is never obtrusive. And man is their staff well trained; exceptional. But of course the food is what matters and it was outstanding. I'm posting pictures with this review. Their 33 year tradition crème of pumpkin and shrimp soup was simply fantastic, and when was the last time you saw Tournedos Rossini on a menu? It was outstanding with an amazing black truffle port wine sauce and perfectly cooked Foie Gras. Highly recommended! Private note to restaurant Over the top fantastic dining experience! Thank you
This is a culinary experience. Overall good, but not great. The service was bland and thats odd. The resort service was really good. Great attention to our dairy allergy though. Portions are small and pricey, but also tasty. Very good good flavors. Just was not overly impressed.
Nice restaurant with a nice view. The risotto was delicious! A little stiff on the bill for what you get
The fungi risotto and pumpkin soup were absolutely wonderful. However we found the entrees like pork belly and fish were over cooked and plain of flavor.
Had the Christmas special dinner which was very good with impeccable service. Only issue is that it is pretty pricy compared to restaurants in the town
Delicious food options and very friendly staff. Wait time is quite long and good be faster. Price is not cheap but reasonable.
Very expensive restaurant. Services are great except they pressure you to order their recommend food, which is the most expensive one.
Friendly staff, unique menu and a variety of options.
Unfortunately this place is a lower quality copy of the absolutely amazing original restaurant in Puerto Vallarta. The atmosphere is very corporate, cold almost, without much decoration, bare tables. The service is not refined or classy as in PVR. Some lounge music playing in the background as opposed to a live piano and strings. The food was just ok. The 29 year tradition langoustines soup was overly sweet, the foie gras risotto was delicious. The lamb was flavorless, the steak was very good. Overall prices are outrageous. Compared to the original restaurant this place is probably more than double and not worth it. Sorry, the best restaurant at the Pacific Coast is still Cafe des Artistes in PVR......this one is not even close. And....we went during a hurricane. We were very dissatisfied with the food and service, left a small tip. A nice staff member walked us through the tunnels back to the hotel but was called back by one of the manger as we didn't leave sufficient tip. They made us find our way back through the tunnels as we "only" tipped 10%. Seriously....what a petty staff, how angry with unhappy customers. So, rather than understand what may have happened, they went into aggressive mode antagonizing us even more. Bad service, even worse food and petty Aggression.
The food was OK. Not good. Not like the one in Vallarta at all. This place lacks refinement, americans are the biggest offenders, showing up in gym shorts, plastic sandals and lousy clothes. Biggest offense was the staff letting them in without a Mask during this pandemic. This is unacceptable beyond any flexibility you could impose. I felt unsafe with all these people walking around without a mask, but staff doesn't dare to tell them to wear a bloody mask. Food is lacking flavor, it is obviously a copy cat and btw the prices are 2.5 times as much as in Vallarta. The waiters are friendly....but unrefined, unattentive, unknowlegeable of the menu, protocols, service etc.... I simply wouldn't come back....was my biggest disappointment visiting Cabos. Don't waste your good 500 usd for 2 here there are better places in cabos.
Food was bland and very small portions. Ravioli appetizer was the only good dish.
The food was boring! Why did I trust the other reviews. I spent a ton of money here and everything was bland. I also got the filet mignon and they didn't sear it at all, zero flavor. Never coming here again. The staff was nice except for the lady in the front. Everyone else was amazing.
