I mean, this is probably the best restaurant in Town. The staff are friendly, the cocktails very very good and the food exceeded our expectations. Don’t let the unassuming exterior fool you, the interior has a good atmosphere and again, the food is excellent. The crusted pork was amazing, our kids loved the cheese pizza and the crab cakes were the best I have had in my adult life. I honestly cannot say anything wrong! Highly recommend. We will be back!

Best kitchen in Puerto area, hands down, and there’s not even a close second. When you’re topped up on tacos and the other three local options: pizza, burgers, and shrimp and are ready for a thoughtful, curated menu and talented kitchen staff, this is the place. This restaurant feels like walking through a portal into a restaurant in a cosmopolitan city. It’s refreshing. So glad they’re here.

Delicious dinner tonight. I had the goat cheese pizza and my friends had the crab cakes and the shrimp mac n cheese. All were fantastic. Gorgeous flavors. I think my favorite in order would be the mac n cheese, the crab cakes and then the pizza. Had the pineapple cake with ice cream as well and it was fabulous! I wasn't enjoying my cocktail [maybe my fault for ordering something out of the ordinary] and Phillip, our server, took it away and brought me something else. Well handled and I was very impressed. Phillip was very attentive to our needs without being constantly at our table, which was probably difficult as we were the only ones sitting outside. Everyone made us feel very welcome and they even brought us chair cushions and a tablecloth/ cloth napkins AND had the fountain going. Lovely evening, highly recommended! Thank you!

This is one of the best meals I've ever had in Mexico--even if it wasn't *exactly* Mexican. The tuna tostada and duck special (not on the menu, but I think they have it a lot) were both to die for. I wanted to go back another night. Our server was attentive. There were a lot of gnats on the patio but the ambience was very nice. This food was VERY reasonably priced, especially considering what one would pay for a meal this good in the US.

A high end fine dining experience in Puerto Morelos, a taste of the local cuisine while giving you the vibe of a big NYC restaurant. Amazing food, service was nice and polite, and you are not rushed, but invited to sit, relax talk and sip your fav beverage while waiting for your food.

We had a wonderful evening. The food was some of the best we have ever had in Puerto Morelos or anywhere. The owner was there and she was very interested in how we were and making sure our night was excellent. Also the best Margaritas in town so far. The service was exceptional the entire evening.

Great ambience. Pork loin and duck enchiladas were absolutely phenomenal, drinks were also great and priced fairly compared to other restaurants we’ve visited in Puerto Morelos. Creme brûlée was also very good. Would highly recommend this place for a nice dinner.

One of my favorite restaurants in Puerto Morelos. We call it our Summer Kitchen because the are one of a very few establishments that has air conditioning. The food is always outstanding!

We planned a spontaneous dinner evening in Puerto Morales and selected this place based on online reviews. It was a bit difficult to find due to Google maps being off by one block. We called the restaurant and spoke to Dora...the owner and she got us there. We were SO GLAD we did. The evening was worth it just to meet and chat with Dora who related many stories about the restaurant's history and the local town. And the food was delicious.. And the margaritas perfection!! We thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend an evening at John Grays.

Chill atmosphere and excellent service. Got the calamari and duck tacos as an app. Margarita was great. Ordered the pork loin for main, was cooked perfectly in a creamy, cheesy, balsamic glaze and perfectly portioned.

What a fabulous find. After a week of terrible overcooked food at our resort, we needed to find a place to have a great meal and this was it. Was so impressed with the service and food that we booked a second evening for a few nights later. Large portions of great tasting food especially the duck taco appetizer and the duck breast entree. Nice wine choices and very welcoming servers. It is clear that the owner has set a great example for her team as she was so very open and engaging with us and others in the restaurant. Made us feel at home. We will be back on our next trip to Mexico.

Have been eating here since our first trip to Puerto Morelos in 2003. The food was excellent however half the menu was blacked out. The staff was friendly but we did miss seeing Dora this trip. It was low season so nothing in town is very crowded. While there are new restaurants in Puerto Morelos that can now compete with John Grey’s Kitchen this place will always have special memories and a place in my heart so I totally recommend a meal here when you visit Puerto Morelos! Hope John Grey’s Kitchen is around for many years to come! - Dan

We had the chicken special and the pork loin specials. Both dishes were amazing!! Between 3pm-6pm they have a special where you get a half portion meal with a glass of wine or beer for 250 pesos! The portions are more than big enough. Ambiance is very nice and Felipe our waiter was fantastic!!!

Here’s where you want to go for a bit more upscale dining experience but not too bougie. Ideal atmosphere for an intimate date or business dinner, and casual enough for getting together with friends. Quality ingredients, ambiance and service calls for a higher prices but still reasonable for the dining experience. We had 2x Don Julio Reposado, shared calamari appetizer, spicy cauliflower side dish, Fish of the Day special, roasted Chicken with Pesto, and shared the owner’s baked Key Lime pie. Total cost including 10% gratuity came out to 1,831 MXN ($108 USD) We enjoyed our meal, atmosphere, service - overall great experience and will come here again

This is exactly what we were looking for tonight! It is a classy place, the outside dining area was elegant and tranquil. The service was awesome and the food..... the food was some of the best I've had anywhere let alone Puerto Morelos!! The pork loin was fabulous, the duck was amazing! We had all the duck(tacos, enchiladas and breast), it was incredible. I will definitely recommend this place to anyone traveling to PM.

Everything about this place is 5 stars. Service, food and drinks were perfect. Nothing I would change and we are very very picky. Started with tuna tostada, caesar salad and mushroom risotto. Cocktails were stellar and few places accomplish that. Wife had a lemon drop and I had a mojito and old fashion. Main course was shrimp macaroni and cheese and pork tenderloin. Wrapped it by taking home 2 key lime pieces!!

Where to start? The food is exquisite. Never mind that the wait staff said mashed potatoes when they meant diced. They were remarkable, cooked to perfection in a white sauce, melt in your mouth, want to lick the plate, good. The fish, local fresh Coronado, begged to jump from the fork to your mouth. And it did not disappoint when it arrived seasoned to perfection. The chefs do not overcook the fish. The creme brûlée was a religious experience; how could it be that creamy and that light? A return visit on Christmas morning brought not only a perfect, soft (no shoe leather) omelette with crispy outside, succulent inside, breakfast potatoes, but the company of two who make this experience so memorable. There's Dora, from Guadalajarra,the owner, who is warm and welcoming and listens to all her patrons with soft intensity, wanting everyone to have a perfect dining experience. There's also Valorie, from New Hampshire, whose greetings will make you wonder why you would eat anyplace else. On Christmas she brought her computer and phone hook up for people to call home, FOR FREE, to speak to their loved ones on Christmas Day. Service in the evening can be slow but the food arrives hot. They can be so busy that they run out of what you may be craving but they will make every effort to find good substitutions. Pricier than some places in town but worth it.

Very nice patio in front, and the best burgers we've had so far in the Riviera Maya. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because the bun needs to have a more hearty bun, like a ciabatta bun, to hold together better with the juiciness of the patty. Currently they are using what appears to be an inexpensive sesame topped bun from the grocery store.

The indoor ambiance is lovely, MUCH better than the patio. I thought the board menus were a little cumbersome and a bit of a bottleneck, but the food was great! Service was overall good, but we waited a pretty long time to finally get an order in

El lugar me gustó más adentro que afuera, la comida exquisita y el precio un poco elevado. Lo que no me gusto es que no tenían ni menta para un mojito, ni pepino o frutos rojos para un gin tonic. Daba la sensación que no tenían casi nada. La atención estuvo ok, pero se podría mejorar, fue un poco tosca. La comida sobresaliente, muy ricos sabores y texturas.

We had a nice meal at John Gray’s Kitchen. We shared a tuna appetizer followed by a shrimp dish with mashed potatoes and grilled fish. The food was tasty and fresh and the portions generous. The service was nice and attentive.

The service at this restaurant was very good, but the food left a little to be desired - perhaps I just ordered the wrong main course. The shrimp and crab cake appetizer was delicious, but the duck breast special was very overcooked. (The flavors were good, though.) Additionally, the white wine I ordered was served warm, which was unpleasant. I think this restaurant deserves another shot because we heard a lot of good things - we may have just gone on an off night.

Looking to have a nice Christmas Day holiday dinner we messaged the restaurant ahead of time to see if they would have a special holiday menu. They confirmed that they did, so we booked it for our party of four. When we arrived we asked for it and they were told there wasn’t one, it was just the regular menu. Felt like a bait-and-switch so we haven’t been back. Food was good, not excellent, but really overpriced for what you received.

So disappointed! I had great expectations because of the reviews…mashed potatoes not mashed, …there was a half potato not at all mashed…and not flavourful; burnt asparagus ! Sea bass left to be desired (a bad after taste). Crab and shrimp cakes delicious, my brother loved the pork, Edwin a fantastic server!

Very very pricey. My guess is it won't be there in a year or two. The appetizers were ok. The main courses were pretty. Green beans instead of asparagus.. The shrimp was very good. The steak was average. The fish was average. Calamari was a bit chewy but the sauce made it decent. The crab cakes were decent as well. The polenta was a bit bland. Not a big polenta fan anyway. The garlic bread was the winner of the evening in my opinion.

Worst service in Puerto Morelos! We had a VASTLY different experience than all of the other reviews of this place. Our group of 5 was very excited to kick off our New Years Eve at such a highly rated establishment that we made reservations and arrived a bit early. Once seated we waited, and waited, and waited for a server to acknowledge us. This trend continued throughout the entire night where every time we needed water, wanted the menu, wanted to order food, get the bill , we had to track down the server. I don't actually remember what I had for dinner that night as I was so distracted by the terrible service and the incredibly high bill that followed. There are so many other places in Puerto Morelos who will treat you with wonderful food and service that our recommendation would be to walk past John Gray's as quickly as their servers walked past us the entire night.

El pato estuvo muy exquisito, lo que dejó mucho que desear fue el trato del mesero hacia el comensal ya que, no fue amable a parte es un lugar que aún que tuvimos un pésimo servicio a fuerza le tenía que dejar una propina obligatorio, hasta nos fueron a buscar en el carro gritando. Por eso es la puntuación que le doy. Que lástima por qué en realidad la comida si estuvo muy bueno.
