Perhaps the interior design is not as interesting as the one featured by Hibachi in Cary... but in terms of everything else there is no comparison! Definitely the best place to have Hibachi in the whole Wake County area. The Chefs are funny and highly skilled... the food is simply delicious. My taste buds are still watering. Many compliments!

Very interesting location. We went to try sushi (by the way, they were very tasty), and ended up at an extremely interesting culinary circus performance. Lots of emotions, be sure to visit this place with friends. The food is prepared before your eyes and is also very unusual. I definitely recommend it!!! And the prices are quite nice.

Came here with some friends for lunch. Has been a guilty pleasure restaurant for me ever since I was a teenager over 20 years ago, and the place I first tried sushi. Portions are great, price is reasonable. The wasabi with the sushi hits quickly but fades fast and doesn't painfully linger. The ginger dressing on the salad is full of flavor.

I ordered to-go for me and my friend last second, and the girls at the upper level order area were all very sweet and kind. The wait was probably around 20 minutes for 3 sushi rolls, and I just moved my car around and waited a couple minutes and it was all done. The food was super fresh and delicious!

Tried this place for the first time. Had sushi and the fish was fresh and I enjoyed it. Service was good. Restaurant was clean. We plan on going again when we shop at the mall in the future.

We were celebrating our daughter finishing her BSN, and this is where she chose to eat. We had reservations for 6:30 but the rain started coming down and 3 of our party was blocked by an accident on the highway. They were great and gave us a reservation for a bit later. We also had 2 toddlers and would need 2 high chairs. They had everything ready for us. Our chef for the night was great, as was the food! For 6 adults and 2 kids, it costs less than I was expecting. Great evening!

Haven't been here for 20 years, still delivers a great show, sooo much food!

The menu had offerings for most dietary needs. I got the salmon hibachi, and it was cooked to perfection. This restaurant reminds me of Shoguns from the Midwest area. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. In addition the restaurant was clean! You've got to try it! Yes, you sit with others, but that's ok. Don't be antisocial, or you'll miss an exciting experience.

I was brought for my BDAY tradition! We requested Chef Ray Ray who is an EXCELLENT cook 🧑🏼‍🍳, he made it a very fun atmosphere, he has great jokes and conversation with the table, He even made our whole table! Chef cooked everything to perfection as per guest requests, and everything was nice and clean. My only wish is there was more Ray Rays ! The wait for him is always worth it! Thank you so much! We will be back soon!

Went on a Saturday evening there was about a 45 minute wait and it was a lot of people waiting. I appreciate how they sat us at the table with another couple on the opposite side. So we had our own personal space and not at a crowed table. The chef was very pleasant & the food was great! Just don’t forget to order ice cream at the end.

This was my first time coming to an actual hibachi grill and I wasn’t disappointed! I came with some friends on a busy Saturday afternoon and we didn’t have to wait long to be seated at one of the grills. Our chef was fantastic with a great personality and sense of humor, and it was a lot of fun to watch our food being cooked. The food itself tasted amazing too. The portions are generous and everything was cooked well and full of flavor. Excellent service and and all around great atmosphere.

It is what it is, and what it is is a good time! Great hibachi joint, classic chefs doing all the tricks, I leave with a clean plate and a smile! You’re here with family or friends and it’s lovely lively and fun! I also do steak and shrimp with lots of mushrooms. This particular hibachi joint has good kid food options and some sushi! Kanpai!

We were a large group and took up 2 grills! Excellent service and food! Scallops were tender. There is a nice selection of drinks too. I also had the Dragon Roll which was awesome!

We went here for Mother’s Day. It was extremely busy. The food was amazing.

Had the chance to finally visit this place after seeing about it and hearing about it for so long. Love the demonstration and the food. I had the sushi and shrimp and salmon pick two and it was great. My only wish was that they allowed a little more distance between customers. I has a party of two and they used us to completely fill a table instead of keeping some a distance apart. Overall, I will go again. Highly recommend this place although next time I'll go with a larger party to get a table to ourselves.

Great performance. Nice food. Generous portion. The front desk was not that friendly. She did not even smile. The other servers were great.

The employee working the bar area was great. Fantastic personality & sense of humor and our drinks were refilled without having to ask. This is a great option to avoid the crowds of other restaurants in the area and still get quality food and service.

I only go to the kanki at the mall. Crabtree mall to be exact. I've been to other ones, but only Crabtree mall now. Everything was top notch. The waitress was on time with everything. The chef was great 👍 as well. If you ever want to have a great time,go to kanki at the mall. I'm sertin you will have a great time like my family did. Have fun 😊 the little girl in the photo, it was her 12th birthday. And the chef put 12 on the rice in sesame seeds. We just had a blast 🥳

I had the opportunity to visit this establishment September 11. My best friend thought that I’d love it, and she was right! We had a blast! I absolutely loved the place! We went on a Saturday afternoon, and had a wait time if about 35 minutes. Our Chef, Omar was funny and talented. The food was awesome! I plan to go again real soon.

I went on 3/23 for my birthday. I had the best time ever. I was almost like a child on Christmas. The food was amazing, so was the staff. I didn't have any complainants except I didn't want to leave. They sang me a birthday song, that was a wonderful surprise. We are going back really soon.Went on 10/22 for my Mom's birthday..had great time it's a bit more expensive but well worth it..great waitress Lizette was awesome and the chef....wouldnt change a thing..

I went here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch with one other. We were seated within about 10 minutes and then ordered some sushi as well as our entrees. The sushi was great and the entrees were good as well. My lunch portion of hibachi steak had a bit of fat on it so I was still hungry and ordered a second order of white rice. This rice that I was given was not white rice but a stale tasting fried rice that I did not enjoy. The server was good but didn't come by too often I think she might have been overseated a bit so no big deal. Will come back no extra rice though…

I was really craving Kanki, so we decided to splurge for a fun Tuesday night out. No reservation, but we were seated in ten minutes. Such luck! I was prepared to wait for an hour without any complaints. Gyoza app - pan fried - so delicious. I love their ponzu dipping sauce. My boyfriend and I both got the Emperors Delight - filet, chicken, and shrimp. Yum yum! Service was great. Our chef was very nice. Enjoyed the evening. We shall return!

Best sashimi I have ever had, hands down! Please excuse my photo of my half-eaten sashimi dinner but it was so good I forgot to take a pic sooner. The fish is so fresh and just absolutely delicious. Even the tuna was delicious which is usually my least favorite fish. And even the white rice was the best I’ve ever had, it had these divine roasted sesame seeds on top. I was making inappropriate noises while eating this dinner, lol! I can’t believe they serve 16 pieces of high quality sashimi, soup, salad, and rice for only $27. Amazing value and quality. I wish we had one of these restaurants in Denver!

I had a great experience here. The atmosphere was perfect and we were seated as soon as we walked in. Took about 15-20 mins before the cook came over but the waiter brung us drinks, salad and soup while we waited. The waiter made sure our drinks were never empty. The cook was super nice and gave us a good amount of food for what we spent! And let’s not forget how flavorful the hibachi was and they use high quality meat. I would highly recommend this place and can’t wait to return.

Tucked away on the lower level of Crabtree Mall just beneath P.F. Chang’s, Kanki Japanese Restaurant feels like a hidden find. The sushi was fresh, well-crafted, and absolutely hit the spot. Their sake selection really stood out, paired with an impressive lineup of wines, liquors, and beers featuring both American and Japanese labels. I grabbed a seat at the bar, and the service was top-notch—attentive, friendly, and genuinely enhanced the entire experience. Everything came together to make this a place I’d happily return to.

We recently tried this sushi spot inside the mall, and overall, it was a decent experience. The food was good—we started with calamari as an appetizer, and it was definitely a highlight. We also had soup, chicken, and a couple of sushi rolls, all of which were tasty and well-prepared. The service was okay. We seated ourselves, and our server didn’t talk much, just brought the food. Not bad, just not very engaging. The atmosphere was fine—it’s what you’d expect for a restaurant inside a mall. Convenient if you’re shopping and want to grab a bite. One downside was the pricing. For a mall restaurant, it felt a bit overpriced. The quality was good, but not quite enough to justify the cost. Overall, it was fine. Good food, decent service, and a convenient location, but a little on the expensive side for what it is.

The service and atmosphere was very good. It was a bit crowded at the table. Food was good. However we felt the fried rice was too salty for our taste. The kids shrimp hibachi noodle was very good. Other than that they were good. The vegetables and shrimp tempura were really good. We liked the clear soup and salad with ginger dressing . Kids will enjoy the show!

Food was great. Fried rice was very flavorful and well seasoned. Chicken and steak was savory. Highly recommend the sesame dressing for your salad. Service was great, waiter was on top of refills. It seems every time we sit at the bar there’s tension and stress with the staff who work behind there. Hopefully management can help relieve some of that from them.

Kanki's dinner was thoroughly enjoyable for my family and I. The soup and salad were delicious, and the spicy Banzai glazed chicken wings were highly flavorful. The chef who catered to our table showcased incredible talent; the quality of food and the live performance were both exceptional. The chef's entertainment skills were impressive.

This place is okay, and this is exactly what I mean. Nothing exciting, but not bad ether. Just solid food vendor with very reasonable price for good food which is just above fast food level. It has two designated areas, one is with traditional seating and another with live hibachi style chef presentation. To be honest, I was searching in the first area and had my dinner, which was filling but not romantic, so if you aim for that you better try another room.

This was an interesting spot to eat and review. I took my daughter and we are both huge hibachi fans. When you arrive there is first come first serve seating at bar and another area for casual seating where the food comes right out without the chef show. You also can elect to wait or sit at the traditional hibachi style table for the chef show. The food was very good, we both got Hibachi steak, shrimp and chicken. thought the ginger sauce could have been better and you had to ask for that. Server was a little overwhelmed so getting refills took a while. Otherwise nice spot for some good food.

We did Hibachi. There were 3 kids in total that attended, and one was the birthday boy. The chef was VERY bland and boring, especially to have kids there waiting to see something interesting. The food was just okay. I like the sushi better than the Hibachi grilled food. The lady that brings out the drinks and takes the order was kind of rude. The birthday boy told her at least 4xs that it was his birthday and she ignored him every time. No smile, no happy birthday, no nothing. We also witnessed 2 other tables were the staff came out and sang happy birthday, but not for our table.

Service / staff was excellent & this place was packed on a Sunday. Food was fresh and mostly delicious. I ordered the hibachi teriyaki salmon for $15 (although the sushi looked pretty tempting). Here’s my beef about it though — the mixed vegetables with the hibachi consisted of mostly onions with a few pieces of zucchini. Nothing else. Did they run out of other things? I’m not sure… but it was quite disappointing to be served a pile of mostly onions. Hopefully this was an accident. Otherwise, was a good experience. Rice, Salmon & side salad (not pictured) were delicious & I loved the white-orange sauce (yum-yum?).

I gave two stars only for the chief as he was really nice and polite and doing amazing tricks, but the food quality and taste comparing to what you pay doesnt worth it, the food taste less than average, you can get better taste and cheaper from other asian fast food . I know how delicious the teppanyaki and japanese food based on my experience with other places. But here i doubt i will be back again.

Went there yesterday the food was decent but the meat portion was real small. My group of people ran out of drinks for over 15 minutes till i got up and asked another waiter if I could get some more drinks. I personally won’t ever go back again or recommend it to friends and family!!

This use to be one of my favorite restaurants. I ordered lunch to go and the rice was horrible. The seasoning was awful. Please change the recipe back to what it was. SMH

Aside from the food being disappointing, I was really upset over the fact that we got there at 5pm and didn't get sat until 7:30pm. They told us 7pm, then pushed it to 7:30 because "two bigger parties needed to be sat first" I was legitimately shocked by that response. We had 13 people! 2 and a half hours is outrageous! We called ahead to make sure we would have enough time to get a table at 6:30 if we got there early enough. I will say my cocktail was absolutely delicious. "Strawberry kiwi martini" The server was lovely and adorable. I really appreciated her. The cook didn't really put anything in to the "performance" just did what he's required to do and left. Probably because it was so late in the evening and they were ready to go home. I'm really not sure why we went to this location over the others. They have much more personality and atmosphere in those locations.

Every year on December 31st we have chosen a restaurant to end the current year while celebrating the incoming New Year. We have frequented Kanki at Crabtree off-and-on for several years and on December 31st of 2025 we chose to close out the year at Kanki Crabtree again. However.....this time we noticed a huge decline in the "quality" of the food. We were sat at the grill, as usual, for the entertainment of the chef, but when our salads arrived we noticed it looked wilted and it looked like it was right out of a Food Lion salad bag. The salads from years ago were robust and looked fresh with great toppings. The main food quality didn't seem to taste the same either. Just overall, you can feel and see that this particular Kanki is cutting corners and has lost its luster. Unfortunately, we will not be coming back for sometime. Maybe in another 2-3 years we'll give Kanki another try, but for now it's an immediate pass.

The most DISGUSTING experience I’ve ever had. We’ve been their customers for over 10 years, and this place is exponentially going downhill. It’s probably better if they just close at this point. On our last visit, the food was ridiculously dry and gross, and floors were sticky and dirty with food all over the ground, most tables were not cleaned and had people’s leftover trash all over, and the service was extremely unprofessional. They had great potential but it’s just disgusting at this point.

Only eat here if you want the tiniest lamb chops EVER. This is disrespectful to serve someone this. Management was no help. This was a Togo order and after getting home to discover I called and spoke to a manager, Vinny, who told me I have to bring it back for a refund. 30 minutes away. He told me to go ahead and leave the bad review he couldn’t do anything unless I brought the food back, even offered to send him a picture of it. As a long time kanki customer they will never get another dime from me because of Vinny and his poor customer service, no attempt to even try to make the situation right.

Celebrating my friends birthday we decide to eat here, due to a egg allergy our food was prepared in the back. So we got to watch everyone else get served and eat Our food was not served until everyone had finished my food was not fresh ordered a rice to go due to the portion being alot smaller than what is severed when my friend got home she had to pick egg out of her rice Food and service was not got good thankfully I didn’t have to pay for my meal but still payed for everything else and manager was not concerned once I called to express my distaste for the lack luster service.

I visited this location on 9/11/25 around 11am so it was not busy. I ordered and received my food but, that was the only time that I was serviced by my waitress. There was another table with 2 men that she had to attend to and let’s just say that they received 5 star service!! She made sure that they had refills and cleared their table while continuously checking on them. Meanwhile she did not check on me once until I had to pay my tab!! I ordered shrimp tempura rolls and the dough on the shrimp was doughy and not edible, In conclusion for this to be an upscale restaurant the service and food was horrible!!!

The fact that you cannot make a reservation for large parties after 3pm blows my mind. Instead they want you and 15 people to stand there in the way of everything and everyone and wait for a table to open up for 15 PEOPLE! From a business stand point and a physical room stand point, this makes no sense. Asking children and elderly customers to sit and wait for a table to open up is not good customer service. We have always come here for our family gatherings and have always struggled to get a table and the family is so stressed at the end of waiting an hour or more for a table that it doesn’t make it worth it anymore. Something’s got to give. This process doesn’t work.

Honest this was the worse service I have ever experienced…our waiter wasn’t consistent at all with our food …we order sushi before our entree and got out entree first ..we even order the Carolina twister BEFORE our actual food come to find out he didn’t even put it in or started it.. we had 4 different people serving us and we had to get their attention and spent freaking $250 including tip on this experience!!! $250 freaking dollars and a sorry as service!!! Calling Corporate is on my darn list to call!!! JUST FREAKING HORRIBLE!!!

v

awful experience, took us like 30 min to get seated when we had a reservation and then it took us like an hour after being being seated to actually get to see the chef. All that for mid food and boring experience

I have been to this Kanki on three separate occasions for both lunch and dinner and was told every time that they were not cooking in the table side hibachi area. I do not understand why you would have a hibachi table side restaurant that doesn’t actually cook at the table. Very disappointing and will not be returning.

I wish there was a way I could give five trash bags for the herendous trash service I experienced today at this restaurant! To be honest it's so bad I haven't even finished my food or left the restaurant as I sit here writing this review. First off our waiter who did not wait on us the entire time, was rude and inattentive. The food took almost 45 minutes to get to our table and not once we're we informed of how long the wait would be. When the food finally did arrive it was overcooked, dry and not hot. We have not once been asked how our meal is or if our drinks need to be replenished. I feel like the white patrons who were seated after us got more attention with service than we did. I am extremely disappointed because I didn't want it to be a race thing but the way me and my boyfriend were treated, is exactly how we felt. I will not be returning to this establishment!!!! I advise anyone to take caution before dining here.

Today myself and friend went to eat at Kani at 3:25pm. Our waitress gave us the lunch menu, we ordered our food and the waitress told us that we wouldn't be able to get the lunch price because it was dinner time. She said the previous waitress forgot to switch the menu out. Being that lunch only switched at 3:00 we asked could it be honored. The waitress stated she would have to ask her manager. The manager Daniel came to the table saying he couldn't allow us to get the lunch special then asked us as the customers what would we like "him to do". He didn't provide any solutions to the problem or even try to make it right. This manager needs some more training and better customer service skills.

WARNING: Do NOT eat here if you have food allergies! The staff listened to my daughter's allergy but the Chef constantly ridiculed her and kept claiming she was faking it. Raw lemon juice is the WORST for her. She is diagnosed from a MD allergist. She can tolerate tiny amounts when it's mixed in with other ingredients but NEVER raw straight lemon juice. We thought they wouldn't squeeze lemons onto the chicken but the chef did it RIGHT in front of her! Plenty of room on the grill at the other end or better yet cook that in the back if can't omit. Our whole party took up the table.and were fine with lemons being omitted. Chef had to keep making fun of my daughter doubting her lemon allergy. She would run to the bathroom whenever he squeezed a lemon and as soon as she returned to the table, he deliberately squeezed another. We have never seen them use soooo many lemons. He was so mean just plain mean. We were force to leave the birthday party early☹️ Apparently you must bring documented proof or simply go anywhere else. Thank you for saving us tons of money; we won't be returning. Ever.
