The Capital Grille - Raleigh

Went here for the 1st time to celebrate my graduating with my Master’s degree and getting accepted into law school. Nathan, our server was amazing. He provided exceptional service and took great care of me and my guest. After having to wait over an hour at another top steakhouse in Raleigh, my guest was upset so we tried Capital Grille and they were very hospitable and able to seat us immediately with call ahead reservations. I had the filet mignon (chef’s selection version) and it was delicious, succulent, and flavorful. It also re-heated well the next day. The vibes were classy, grown & sexy! Thank you for helping to celebrate my level up!

The overall experience was outstanding. Tonight's celebratory dinner for me was a true pleasure and Bryan, our waiter, was attentive, kind and made excellent recommendations.

My bestie hosted her 40th birthday here: it was my first visit and it was awesome. Food was great especially their desserts. Bartender was doing their thing too with the drinks

5 ⭐️ service with Nicole W! She was spectacular from the moment we sat down until we left. She was honest and gave great recommendations. We never had an empty glass and were greeted with a warm welcome from the moment we walked in. I ordered the chicken risotto and was able to substitute it with the asparagus. Cooked to perfection!! The Brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes were a great side to accompany the meal and the flavors were absolutely delightful. My husband ordered the sliced filet mignone with mushrooms and onions and that melted in his mouth. We saved room for dessert which was the flourless Kona espresso cake- ask for extra cream!! I noticed that the servers were bringing roses to the ladies who had special occasions and one couple next to us had confetti and card on their table (assuming an anniversary). Very nice details!

This experience was hands down the best we have ever had at a restaurant. Note: We have been to all the best streak houses and restaurants in Raleigh. We booked through open table for a Friday at 7pm. The app confirmed our dinner several times beforehand reminding me. I asked for the best table the hostess recommended in the app. Parking included free valet and was super easy to get to and easy to find. From the moment we walked in they asked if we had a reservation. I said my last name and they said happy birthday to my wife immediately they knew exactly who we were. The entrance in lobby was beautiful. The staff was amazing at the lobby. When we sat down, we were greeted by a water and bread server who was super nice and offered us 3 different types of water?! We were then introduced to David our waiter who introduced us to his assistant. The service at this restaurant is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced me or my wife we consider ourselves middle class and eat at a very nice restaurant probably four times a year. This was by far the best service I’ve ever had in my entire life. David made that happen but so did the whole team. The food was fantastic. My recommendation is to go with whatever they recommend talk to them about what you like or dislike. They boxed our appetizer up and chopped my wedge salad. I can’t really describe it. The entire evening was amazing. I feel like I’m giving away my big secret, but they said us at table 13 facing the kitchen and the wine room and Eagle and clock you can see everything but your private. It’s the best seat in the house. We aren’t even going to try other nice restaurants now we’re just going to come to capital Grille. Hopefully we get that table. And we will always ask for David.

Came here for my birthday and absolutely loved every bite. Even the veggie sides here are amazing. Our server (I think her name was Heather?) was the best. Even though we had reservations for a high top, we were able to sit at a regular table once we arrived. It was busy but still a great environment to have a conversation in. I would absolutely love to come back sometime so I can try out some more of the menu!

Capital grille was absolutely perfect! I reserved a private room for a small family anniversary celebration. The room was very nice and quiet, the wait staff was amazing. We were talking about how none of us ordered the lobster mac and cheese and wish we did, then to our surprise- the manager came in with a complimentary bowl of Mac and cheese for us to try. They also provided two free desserts with “happy anniversary” written on the plate, everything was perfect and even better than I imagined!

From the moment we arrived, the entire team went out of their way to make her feel celebrated and special. Maxx, our server, absolutely made the evening. He was funny, charming, incredibly attentive, and struck the perfect balance between professional and warm. He had us laughing all night and made sure every detail was just right — the kind of service that turns a great dinner into a memory you’ll talk about long after. The food was exceptional — somehow even better than we expected — and given The Capital Grille’s reputation, that’s saying a lot. Every course was flawless. Thank you to Maxx and the entire team for giving my mom such a memorable birthday celebration. We’ll absolutely be back, and we’ll be asking for Maxx. 💛

Amazing food and service by Trazjae and other helpers as well. Your drinks will stay refilled and the bread is so good especially the onion bread and sweet bread. We celebrated my birthday there Saturday evening and had an amazing date night. Filets were perfect and the augratin potatoes were seasoned so well. They gave me a birthday plate of 2 small desserts and I ordered creme brulee as it's always my favorite and it was delicious with lots of fresh berries on top!!! 😋 Definitely a special occasion place as the prices are high and it's ala carte but we like to splurge on occasion and this place never disappoints.

We had a great experience. We ate at the bar and the bartender Anne Marie was the best. She made a great martini for me and a great old fashioned for my wife. The food was fantastic, cooked how we ordered it. The steaks was perfect. We will definitely make this a date night destination in the future. And the cheesecake was amazingly delicious.

Anniversary dinner and first time there. Valet service. Excellent grade. The atmosphere was very nice and quiet. I loved the high back seating. We had a curved back. The Caesar salad was delicious. It had a tang to the flavor that was different from others I've tried. The salmon was served over pearl onions, which made a sweet sauce and green beans. The lobster mac and cheese and creamed spinach were also delicious. My husband had the shrimp for an appetizer with main course, filet mignon, and lobster. We received a complimentary dessert on a rectangular plate, which said Happy Anniversary. One end had fudge with raspberries and whipped cream, and the other end had cheese cake with different berries. Before we left, I received a complimentary long stemmed rose , which was very nice. Overall, it's an excellent restaurant you must try!

Enjoyed my birthday dinner! The service was 10/10 and the food was delicious. Doug was our waiter and he took great care of us. We started the night with cocktails, I had the Black tie margarita and my husband had the in fashion. We had the grand plateau for our appetizer, great way to try their seafood options. I had the lamb chops and my husband had the tomahawk. We got them cooked well and they came out perfect. We had the lobster Mac and cheese and mushrooms for our sides and I was impressed with Mac and cheese. We would definitely go back!

Excellent service our waiter was very nice he even made us a sangria that my wife and I both enjoyed. Very attentive to us the entire time.... The food came out perfect and EVERYTHING was delicious. We can't wait to go back

We enjoyed our wedding anniversary date night at The Capital Grille Philly and it was fun & memorable. We were treated with a “Happy Anniversary” table tent card and adorable multi-color mini heart confetti on our table. Our server, Zach was absolutely phenomenal greeting us with two glasses of champagne 🥂 to start our celebration 🎉 (he’s great at upselling☺️). Although Zach was in high demand that night he still made us feel like we were the only couple in the room. My husband and I had such a wonderful time it was perfect. We even enjoyed seeing a few snowflakes fall while eating dinner. Our starters & appetizers were delicious. Thank you to our server, Zach & The Capital Grille for an amazing wedding anniversary date night! We would absolutely choose this dining experience again!!!

Paid a visit to The Capital Grille in Raleigh, NC📍this weekend! This was the most decadent, amazing, attentive service I’ve ever received. Our server Max was an absolute superstar. I got the Chefs Special Filet Mignon with mushrooms and onions and it was stellar 💫. That nights special— the lobster bisque— could not have been better. We were obsessed; the lobster literally melted on my tongue. So creamy and delicious🦞. Max talked me into some sort of mint lemonade thingy-ma-doo and it was off the chain ⛓️‍💥! I even felt attended to after returning from the ladies room when Max put in the special effort to nicely fold my napkin into an origami shape during my absence. It was just a hair crowded which is to be expected in an establishment so esteemed but this is definitely a landmark of culinary excellence and an experience you don’t want to miss.

I always love Capital Grille, whichever city I am in. Got to go here for business dinner and had a great time. It had great vibes and most of the tables were full. For drinks, I ordered Buffalo Trace on rock and the first couple of drinks were small but then it got better. For apps, we have the bacon, calamari and stuffed prosciutto, everything was dynamite. Then for salad, I had the burrata n tomato, incredibly fresh. For entree, I had the 22oz steak, cooked to perfection. It didn’t look like 22oz but it did after I ate it all, lol. The sides of mushrooms, Mac n cheese n brussel sprouts were good as well. For dessert, got the crème brûlée. Everyone in my party, enjoyed their food, whether steak or chicken. Food was incredible, nothing to complain, ambience too notch and Brittany as our waitress was 💯. I am in Raleigh almost every month and will def be back.

The food, service, and atmosphere were all phenomenal here. I sat in the bar area and was served by a really helpful and attentive waitress. It had the vibe of a high-end steak house, and it was a great spot to sit and have a conversation. I ordered the NY Strip rare (because "Only one life, 'twill soon be past," am I right?), and it was amazing. It wasn't overly seasoned or charred, like at most steakhouses. I also got the Old Fashioned, which was delicious. I could also get passionate about the bread bowl that they started out with, which had a selection of four different breads. Legendary.

We celebrated Campbell Law School graduation at Capital Grille! It was delicious and Brittany our server was fabulous! The Cobb tenderloin salad. Amazing!! Truffle fries. Off the hook delicious!

Can’t find all the words for the experience we had! It was a Birthday gift from my daughter as well as the first time ever being there. From the Valet to the sweet lady that made sure our waters were filled and especially our server Jonathan we decided to go at least once a year!!!!

Had a great experience at Capital Grille this weekend for my son’s bday. They greeted us upon entry and immediately said happy birthday to my son, who loved it. Then the table was decorated and had a card from the restaurant for him. Nice little touches that made it special for him. The service was great, David and team took good care of us throughout the night. He even made sure the meals came out quick as we were trying to make the football game that night.

From the moment we entered the restaurant to the time we left, our experience was absolutely amazing. We truly felt like VIP. It was my mom's New Year birthday and when I tell you every staff that she came in contact with told her happy birthday and made her feel special, every staff told her happy birthday and made her feel special!! We have eaten at Capital Grille a few times in New Jersey but the attention to detail our Raleigh location gave didn't go unnoticed! I mean this location is top tier and classy! I want to thank every single person we came in contact with. Thank you for making my mom, who is VIP in my life, feel special on her special day! Special thanks to Bryan, our waiter. He was OUTSTANDING, personable and professional! He knew the menu well and made EXCELLENT recommendations!! To every staff we came in contact with, if you ever wonder or think the little "extra" things you do for patrons are not appreciated, please know they are!

We went tonight for our anniversary. Food was delicious, service was fantastic. David R was the greatest!! Best service we have had in a while. Definitely will be back soon for another night of fine dining. Thanks for a great experience!!

David = best person you could ever ask for to be your waiter. Personable, extremely knowledgeable, and intuitive even if you’re not 100% what you want. Will request every single time. Also, food was FANTASTIC as always!

After enjoying a colleague happy hour; it dawned on me that I’ve been a regular at The Capital Grille since 2018. Living and now working in the NH area, it’s become a staple for me — and I’ve loved introducing colleagues to the incredible team there. I can’t say enough about Sam and Tarreus. Every time I walk in, they’re the reason it feels like home. Their kindness, warmth, and genuine spirit shine through in everything they do. You don’t just get a drink — you get conversation, comfort, and a moment of joy in your day. They treat people with a level of care you rarely find anymore. I’ve watched them brighten the room, lift someone’s mood, and make every guest feel seen. That kind of heart can’t be taught — it’s simply who they are. In a workplace that can be challenging, they consistently show up with grace, professionalism, and so much heart. They deserve recognition for the impact they have because it’s real and felt by everyone who sits at that bar. If you stop by, sit with Sam and Tarreus. You’ll immediately understand why so many of us consider them family. Thank you for always brightening my day!

We had the most wonderful experience at The Capital Grille, thanks to our amazing waiter, Maxx Paustian! He truly went above and beyond to make our anniversary dinner unforgettable. When there was a small mix-up with our order, Maxx handled it with such professionalism, grace, and genuine kindness. Not only did he fix it immediately, but he also made sure the rest of our evening was absolutely perfect. His attentiveness, compassion, and warm personality made us feel so cared for. It’s rare to meet someone who takes such pride in creating a memorable dining experience. We left feeling appreciated and valued — thank you, Maxx, for making our night so special!

My boyfriend and I had our anniversary dinner here, and it was one of the best meals we have ever had! They decorated the table with little confetti hearts and had a personalized note congratulating us. From the appetizer all the way to our trio of desserts, what an incredible meal! Our server was so attentive and sweet, she made the night extra special! The GM, Dane, also came over to say hello and made sure everything was perfect. I couldn’t recommend them enough, and we will definitely be going back again!

Second time visiting Capital Grille and the experience has been consistently great. They handled the Valentine’s Day rush really well and everybody was very attentive and diligent. Our server Nathan was terrific and truly sought to make our night a great dining experience. Would advise anyone to request him if excellent service is what you desire. The food was delicious and everything came out warm and well made. I had the lamb and gf got the filet mignon, and both were cooked just as we ordered it. Bread service took some time but came out fresh and warm, so it was more than worth the wait. Overall, it was another great experience

Ate at the Capital Grille 2/16. Cozy atmosphere and nice feel/lighting. My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and the restaurant accommodations were excellent in that aspect. Very nice selection of cocktails and wine. We had the caviar/french onion dip appetizers which was delicious. We had SRF Wagyu filet and seared tuna entrees for main course. Portion sizes were surprisingly accurate for price point and we didn’t leave hungry. A lot of thought and care went into preparation and flavor profiles. Service was top notch. I would definitely recommend 10/10 for food and atmosphere. We frequent Michelin star and Michelin guide restaurants across the country and I think this restaurant was worth a mention for Raleigh’s Michelin guide.

If I could give more stars I would! The service was the best I’ve ever had. The food was delish and the recommendations were on point. I’ve never been to Capital Grill before, but plan on making date nights here a regular thing! Our server Nathan is very kind and very smart, making our experience very enjoyable. If you have a date night here or are a first timer, see if you can have Nathan as your server. He will not disappoint!

Celebrating a birthday at The Capital Grille in North Hills is always a reliable choice for a high-end experience. Having visited a few times now, I can say the consistency is what keeps us coming back. The atmosphere was perfect for the occasion—sophisticated and refined without feeling too stiff. I ordered the New York Strip, which was dry-aged to perfection and seasoned just right. My wife chose the sliced filet, which was incredibly tender, but the real star of the table was the lobster mac and cheese. It is easily some of the best in Raleigh, loaded with fresh lobster and a rich, creamy blend of cheeses that makes it worth every penny. Even though it’s a chain, the service here feels personalized; they really know how to make a birthday feel special. We’ll definitely be back for the next milestone!

My first time eating here and we had the privilege of Max as our server. He was very personable and made sure to ask about food allergies and dietary restrictions right up front. The steaks were perfectly seasoned and cooked. The asparagus was tender but not over cooked. Dessert was absolutely amazing. Highly recommend to eat here on your next outing and make sure to ask for Max.

Great place! My visit was for my daughters birthday. This was our first time in a fine dining restaurant and the waiting staff for my table, Ayelen, made us feel welcome and she made the whole experience better than what we cudve planned ourselves for our daughter. Our infant daughter was just grinning through our dinner and never did she fuss about anything .. i wud def visit this place again.

We made a reservation for a birthday, and at first they wanted to seat us at the farthest table in the outdoor area. We immediately asked for another table, and the service stepped up. The food was very good, we had calamari, meat, Brussels sprouts, and asparagus. The drinks were well served. For dessert, we had the apple bread, along with coffee and cognac, and we asked for a birthday candle, which the waiter never brought, and honestly, I didn’t like his service at all. They gave us some complimentary mini desserts for the birthday, again without candle, which was the only thing I had requested. Luckily, I had brought mine. Everything was great except for the waiter.

First timer: I been to NorthHills many of times but never tried this place. Celebrated a friend birthday with a group of ladies. The service was great, the waiter was kind, knowledgeable, and very professional. The food was good and came out at a decent time.

It's always a treat to come to The Capital Grille! It would of been a 5 star but I wasn't a fan of my prime rib, it lacked flavor but I will return to try something else. The lamb was delicious!

Most of the food was really good. The signature Porcini rubbed ribeye was disappointing due to the excessive bitterness and the grit left on the exterior. The mushroom and balsamic flavors were not noticeable due to the bitterness of the char. Maybe the grill wasn't cleaned well. It was a great disservice to such an expensive and beautiful cut of meat. The temperature of the ribeye itself was cooked to perfection. I would not order it again if I had to pay for it.

We are for the first time at The Capitol Grille Raleigh tonight because it was the only place with an open reservation on the Friday of Valentines weekend. We ate on the heated patio. There were 6 tables out there. Not one plant, nothing on the tables for decoration, the desert. My partner's French onion soup was tasty but a small portion. The goat cheese and the arugula puree in the beet salad, and the vinegrette were excellent but those were canned, not roasted beets. Very disappointing. His sliced filet had a good taste, but the onions overpowered the mushrooms and fig. My tenderloin and lobster also had a good taste but again the portion was small. The asparagus had a few tough pieces and the au gratin potatoes were meh. The service was good but not attentive - remember we were in the desert. The creme brulee was okay. The coconut pie was okay, but not as delicious as we expected. This dinner was way too expensive for a mediocre meal. Spend your time and money elsewhere. And the bathrooms were filthy. It was not raining that night

In Cleveland, Capital Grille is a 5 star restaurant and I was expecting the same result here but no. I wasn’t served any bread before my meal and thought maybe they don’t offer bread when you sit at the bar, but saw a customer who sat after me received theirs. The salmon was okay, the asparagus was very lemony but good, and the baked potato was pleasant! Service was less than mid, but the food was okay. Won’t come back.

We were led all the way to the back of the dining room past many available tables to the farthest hidden table in the “wine room”. The floors were gross and the atmosphere where we were sitting compared to all the EMPTY tables we passed walking in, was very different and undesirable. We were close to a table of 4 and had to whisper over music to have privacy. We sat down and my partner’s utensils had not been properly washed and still had old food on them. The lobster and crab cake was delicious. The lobster Mac was the best thing all night. The Kona crusted steak was cooked properly, but had minimal garnish. The Caesar salad and burrata were fresh and vibrant. The scallop and lobster risotto lacked flavor and I bit into a piece of hard shell that I had to spit out or break a tooth on. Moreover, the scallops were seared unevenly with some not even having a sear (My boyfriend ate the ones without sear and didn’t chew because he was afraid they were raw). The highlight of the night was our server who had a great attitude and was real, knowledgeable and the overall epitome of great customer service except for asking how the meal was. Oh, and the free dessert for my birthday was a nice touch to an overall absolutely disappointing experience. Due to the seating experience and the quality of flavor/food compared to the expense, it’s questionable if we would be back or recommend to others. Raleigh location.

We chose Capital Grille Raleigh for our New Year's celebration based on its stellar reviews. While the food was excellent, the service fell far short of expectations. Our order arrived incorrectly; the wine we received didn't match what we ordered, and our server accidentally dropped a knife, which scratched my hand. Most disappointing was the dismissive attitude—our concerns were ignored, and we left feeling unwelcome. The unusually loud kitchen staff only added to the uncomfortable atmosphere. We dressed appropriately for what we expected to be an upscale experience, only to find other diners in gym clothes. If you’re planning a special occasion dinner, I’d recommend choosing a restaurant where attentive service and a welcoming atmosphere match the quality of the food.
