Tender and moist. Great flavor. Fried okra was good as was the gravy.

So last night Tuesday 9/30/2020 at 9:05pm the wife and I decided that we wanted bone in fried chicken. Our formally favorite place Church's decided to close at 9:00pm instead of 10:00pm like they have posted. So we decided to give KFC another shot we get there around 9:15pm and are told that they are out of cooked chicken and won't be making anymore. So we go to good old faithful Chicken Express they were more then happy to serve us. They also post the same hours as the other two. They even had to make our chicken and eventhough they were going to be closing with in the hour they still were very kind. Definitely the best service in Red Oak.

Simply DELICIOUS!! And Great SERVICE!! Came in with my fiancé today and the gentleman at the register was very nice and kind! The employees were working and work areas were clean! Speedy and Fresh! We will be stopping here from now on for sure!

Everyone here is always so friendly! We try to cut down on fast food but when we don't we choose to come here!! Food is always fresh!! This is the only chicken express location of our choosing that we come too!!

Not only is the chicken good but the catfish is awesome, and the staff is always friendly and helpful. They also keep the restrooms clean and my mama always said if the restrooms are nasty so is the food. Regardless of how it tastes, don't eat it. Lol

If you like Churches you'll love this place. Same good flavor but more offerings for sides and they have sweet tea.

We go there at least twice a week. Love the service. We always call in our order and they are always so courteous and great when it comes to getting everything right. Food is wonderful. And we always buy extra for our little dog. She loves their food, too. The skin on the chicken is perfect!! 😋

Food is always fresh! Customer service Excellent. Phone orders fast and correct! Inside area clean and fresh. Excellent specials. 4 chicken tenders 2 scoops rice $2.99 add tax. Still great deal! My favorite spot at least 3 times a week. JUST GO!

This place is great. The managers are always on top of things. We like to get our chicken fresh and the manager will make sure it gets cooked when we order. We placed a 200 piece orders from here and we needed it by 8:00 am the next day. They called someone to come in early and they had it ready to go on time. This is an easy choice when we don't feel like cooking or burgers.

Great food and wonderful staff. They have a great new manager there that has a outstanding attitude and good customer service.

I just love the chicken strips, totally amazing, but everything else tastes like it came out of a can or freezer. They really need to step it up on their sides. Thankfully, you can order chicken by itself.

Drive thru service was fast. I guess because no one was in line but the chicken was great. I love the fried pickles. I gave 4 🌟 because it's somewhat pricey for chicken

I like chicken Express. When I go, i hardly have to wait very long and my order is correct. VIP. I am. A senior, so i get a discount. Yea. And their chicken is moist!

I usually skip over chicken express because it didn't used to be the best back in the day. But wow. This location has some very good flavored chicken. Better than, KFC, Popeyes and the rest. The tea, biscuits and ocra are delicious. And, watch out for the spicy option because it is spicy in a good way! Treat yo self.

The bone-in fried chicken is actually better than the advertise chicken tenders, and other than the jacked-up prices for chicken these days it's not that bad. However I will recommend you not to eat the bone-less buffalo wings.....!???

Quick and easy. 7 bucks gets u a drink side 4 big tenders and a roll with a cup.of gravy to soak every thing in. Careful getting back onto Ovilla road as you have only a small section of turning lane to move over into the lane.

Very good chicken fingers, love the cream gravy. Rolls are delicious and fluffy. Staff is kinda meh. Don't expect nice employees. They're ok just not very good at customer service. Fast drive through was nice surprise.

Went through the drive through and order a tenders meal, the chicken was a little tough and chewy , could have been laying for awhile 😑, but the fried okra was Fantastic!!

Fried chicken was cooked hot and fresh. Employee at the window had a great personality. Purchased apple pie which in my opinion was overpriced for the offering and taste. Popeye's is better (when cooked fresh) and cheaper.

The food was fresh, except the fries would be better if they were made to order. I dislike fries that have been sitting any length of time past 5 minutes. The fries tasted like 10 or 15 minute fries. Other than that the roll was good and the chicken was fresh.

On a Friday early evening had to wait 20 minutes for regular fried Chicken. You would think on a very busy night of the week you would have plenty of chicken made. And not just a mountain of chicken tenders or offer thighs only. The person taking our order was very confused should not have been running a cash register during such a busy time. Also spoke with a whisper was very hard to hear and understand. We were not offered our drinks while we waited for our food to be prepared. That seems like kind of a standard thing.

Food was good but the staff was terrible. The girl checking us out had no clue what sweet n low was when my dad asked if they had any for his unsweetened tea... she looked at him like he had 3 heads. after we finally said forget it we went and sat down. They brought our food before they brought our drinks. 3 sets of employees came to the table and were made aware that we didn't have drinks. But none ever came back with any. So I finally went up to the counter and stood there until I had them in hand.... I'll go to the waxahachie one next time

Love the food, chicken express is awesome, but the one is red oak sucks because in the 2 years I’ve been going here they have never once got my order right. It’s either they kiss half of it, i get the wrong side, or it’s just Blatantly wrong

Chicken is good but almost ever time I go to the drive thru the very conveniently they forget have my meal. When I call and complain the just say it's because of the kid's that they employ and they just can't get them to do their job's the correct way.

Food is good...I don’t mind waiting in the long drive thru line, because the food is good most of the time. I have one problem with them, and it’s the attitudinal woman taking the drive thru orders. Most of the people taking orders or so nice , but they have one that has an attitude so bad that Ive been driving to waxahachie here lately.

So I had to wait to for my chick 30mins all I ordered was the number 1.They out a fresh batch down and the I was given fresh tinders but they had black burnt stuff all over them and then my fires we not fresh couldn’t even finish the food. I came in 8/9/21 at 4pm!

We ordered two #1s and were short of a chicken tender in one box. They also forgot to include the rolls and utensils (this wasn't a huge deal to us since we use our own, but others might have needed them). We waited about 20 minutes for our food but they didn't appear to be that busy in the dining room and drive-thru. We stopped during a road trip and didn't realize the error until we were already on our way again. Our bad, otherwise we would have gone back to retrieve the rest of our meal. The food was still really good.

Customer service was good. All the food was good except the Macaroni and Cheese. It was absolutely horrible. Watered down cheese sauces, very soupy and the noodles were way over cooked. Didn't even need to chew any of it! Fed to my dog.

The food is good and given quite quickly, however it seems like people don't know how to do their jobs. I asked them to replace ranch instead of gravy and instead of doing that I was told to just ask at the window. And I was not given ranch or gravy, they just removed it instead of replacing. Also their fried pickles are atrocious, almost no breading at all and super salty. (Good food except for fried pickles, and lacking in customer service).

Not sure what other restaurant closes their dine in before 9pm. But they do. Only reason I come here is for the sweet tea. Nothing else is worth the time, or the money. Golden chick has much better food. Much much better. And the tea is almost as good. Might just give up on the tea here just due to the fact of how slow they are to move the drive thru line...at every location ive been. Chicken places are usually quick. What's up with only this place being the one slow one?

Ordered #1 with corn on the cob and the tenders were hard and the corn was dry. I am usually not this dissatisfied with the food but this is the 2nd time the tenders were hard.... Very unhappy!

Not very friendly, order was incomplete, and employees did not care. I spent around $35 on chicken and was treated very poorly. Not much to say other than I will not be back.

Normally I have pretty good service the guy at the drive thru gave ma a large cup of ice with maybe 10 oz of soda, I ordered as usual light ice. So I paid 1.50 for a cup of ice. I guess I will have to start checking and obnoxiously ask for another if wrong. He also was rude and had no comment when I thanked him. I know times are tough with getting good employees. SMH

Over the past 2 years the service has declined rapidly. I applaud this establishment fir hiring younger people who are starting to join the work force, But darn near every person at the window has a terrible attitude including most of the other younger workers. Not all of them mind you. Used to be my go-to spot. Chick-fil-A is where I'd rather go from now on

This is a horrible spot depending on what time you go. I guess the morning crew is better because that's what time I usually go. This time it was about 430 and the light ski girl at the drive thru window read my order to m and I told her I didn't ask for fries I asked for okra and she just looked at me all crazy for a long time before she proceeded to go get me some okra but someone else handed me my food and they forgot to give me my tea so I had to park and get out to go in to get my tea and when I went in the workers were just standing arms folded didn't even greet me when I approached the counter so I informed them that I was in the drive thru and I didn't get my tea so I got no apology just handed me the tea and turned his back so I'm not sure I want to return to this location

Every time we order Chicken Express we tell them we want our pickles extra crispy and we want our fries extra crispy several times now I have had to bring the food home and re-cook my French fries because they were almost raw. The last time my husband actually called them and told them this is ridiculous this has happened several other times and the manager did say bring the food back and they would fix it however fast food supposed to be fast food you want to get it home and eat it not have to go back and deal with it because that's the point of fast food. So he gave us his name and we did go back and get the order a few weeks later and the order was fine however there was barely any pickles in the order to feed two people and this was a $40 dinner with six rolls. And they're definitely was not enough pickles to give to six different people!

So I ordered spicy chicken tenders and got regular. I ordered mashed potatoes for my sides and got only gravy. I also ordered a 2 piece fish meal and they said that it would be 10 minutes. I agreed that would be fine so I payed and pulled up front. After waiting 25 minutes, I had to walk in to get my food. I wish I would have checked it before I left because it was all wrong 😑

We waited roughly 45 minutes from the time the food was ordered to the time it was ready. The manager offered nothing to compensate for the delay (no water, nothing off the bill, not even a “sorry for the delay”) and seemed very unhappy to even be there. The only redeeming value was that the food was hot. That’s literally it. I felt bad for the workers because they get paid $10 an hour at most and they seemed to be doing the best they could under the circumstances.

Old dried out chicken breast legs and tids.. no no napkins on the bag.

I gave yall two stars cause yall ROLLS are delicious but this chicken is dry which is why I asked for honey mustard no sause in my box at all. YALL need to get like Chick fil A or Golden chick cause they Always DELIVER the sause.

All the food shoved into one box smashed together . The pickles were so greasy and wasnt even cooked all the ways. Very disappointed. First time to visit this store. 7 piece chicken tender w/mashed potaoes combo and a side order of fried pickles.

Not good!!! Food was all cold, potatoes were also very old, rolls were like a brick!!! There is no excuse for charging people $35, and sending them home with disgusting food, and they knew when they were scooping it into the containers what they were doing!!! Stay away from this location!!!!!

The chicken is great there, the service is nice. But whenever I go there for dinner timer lunch time they're out of chicken and I have the wait about 25 to 30 minutes.

The customer service isn't the same when they first open, the food isn't fresh upon order like the beginning. It's sad that you get half way home or all the way home and pay for old food. 2 napkins for a family of 4 the rolls are hard. I use to love chicken express on Ovilla. Hopefully things will eventually change when you get staff that care about the customer and how they serve.

Had to repeat my order twice at the speaker pulled around and had to tell them my order again. Then I get home it wasn't even right. At the price I paid for dinner for my family it should be right. Management needs to train a little bit more. Totally disappointed in them

I don't know about anybody else but all except for one time my food is never fresh and I go during their busy time around 6pm. My chicken is always luke warm mashed potatoes are always dry and crumbly. I've had to call in on more than one occasion. Not saying don't go here they just need to get better that's all.

Eh. Not good. Just ordered from there. Chicken didn't look done, and seasoning was not there at all. I don't think I'll be back. Best thing ordered from a 10$ meal was the tea.

Went thru Drive Thru - Ordered extra starter sauce for fish dinner. Got home to find NO starter sauce. All food was subpar. 3 chicken dinners were also subpar. Fish was dry and overcooked . Chicken was mushy as well as corn nuggets.Sore was out of Mac and Cheese at 6:30 pm.

Seriously, can we hire people that have some common sense and manners. The employees here are rude and have no idea how to do their job. God forbid they have more than two cars in the drive thru. Get ready to wait forever and have the wrong order given to you.

The men’s restroom was Awful per my husband! There was number 2 on the walls. The toilet had urine on it that was dried on where you couldn’t seat down if need. The sink was no better. He didn’t used it. He came and got me before I ordered. Because he was afraid the kitchen and staff hands was not sanitary.

Worst experience I've had in a long time. I ordered, was told to park out front because the white meat had to finish cooking. That was fine until the 5 cars behind me received their orders before me. They came out 3 times and asked what my order was as though they had lost it. Went inside finally to wait and they were filling other orders but not mine. I will not going back to this store in Red Oak, TX for a very long time.

The guy that took my order acted like I was bothering him. I asked questions and he just sat there. No answer. I said, hello and he said pull up. The woman that handed me my food was rude, no thank you. The young gal that took my money was smiling and said thank you. I was planning to order a lot more, but couldn't take the rudeness any longer.

Not only did the employees look at each other and laugh when we asked for extra ranch, the girl rolled her eyes when my boyfriend said "thank you, have a great day". This new staff is really disrespectful and we had to repeat our order like 4 times before she got it right. And even then, it wasn't right. Customer service has really gone downhill in the past couple years. Like really really straight downhill. Having to edit because yet again, asking for extra ranch for 2 meals means getting 1 total for both. What the heck?

The young lady with long braids and braces comes to the car and stares at me, not saying a word like Hello your total is or hi did you have number xyz, I give her my card she comes back and hands me the receipt I say your welcome she smiles, please teach your staff how to approach their customers who assist in keeping them employed

Worst Chicken Express I have ever been to. My husband ordered our food, the cashier did not say anything to him, just stared at him and waited for him to order. No greeting whatsoever. After he ordered our food, he had to step out for a second to grab something from the car. In the few seconds he was out, the girl who had the food tray walked out, didn't see him but looked right at me but just stood there. The cashier told the girl that my husband walked out, and the girl with the tray let out an annoyed sigh and rolled her eyes and walked back behind the counter. When my husband walked back in, the girl with the tray came back and literally thumped it on the table VERY rudely and said "here you go" and walked away. We looked at the tray and they forgot our drink and one of our sides, my husband had to go back up to the counter twice to fix this. The tenders are small and are over cooked and coated in grease, the fries might as well be cardboard, and the rolls look soaked in grease as well. I expect grease, obviously, but this is ridiculous. Never coming back. Someone retrain these kids, their attitudes and lack of decent customer service skills are shameful. You can hear the employees complaining about each other as you eat. The manager or supervisor on the clock seems like the only one trying in this place. Kudos to him.

05-31-2019 I just went there and they had 6 minutes until close . Not once did anybody answer the drive thru and reply with sorry we're closed; which I still had 6 minutes until close to order. I pull off and the store is completely cleaned as if they shut down 20-30 minutes till and everyone turned their heads and continue to clean. Having experience in fast food as a Shift-Leader and Assistant Manager, I know that you answer that drive thru even if there was a minute until closing. Now your employees that were so ready to GO caused the store to miss out on a $30.00 sale because the crew is ready to go. Everybody that worked that night should be written up. PERIOD!!!!!

Small portion chicken strips food was literally cold. Thought it was a joke until I found a hair in gravy. Great times! Skip it and go to Racetrac. Food has to be better in there.

I went in to order and when my order was ready an employee came around the counter to meet me with my order with his pants dang near to his knees! Unbelievable how they allow this.

I used to enjoy Chicken Express but today, well today I was very disappointed. I spent almost $70 for a family tender meal, which comes with rolls/biscuits and 3 family sides. There was a little bit of a wait, which I was completely fine with because typically that means a couple things. First the food is going to be nice and hot, probably just cooked. Second, they're making sure the order is filled correctly. So I did not mind waiting. And after a little bit they handed me my order through the window. Now I literally live right down the street from this location, just past the police/fire station. So it's like a 3 minute drive. Got home and told everyone at home to come eat. As I'm taking the food out of the bag I noticed one of my sides are missing. As I continue taking the food out the boxes do not feel warm. First box I opened, mini poppers (jalapeno poppers). Cold. Not frozen cold but not hot to the touch. And typically it's served with ranch, but there was none in the box or in the sacks. Then I opened the chicken, warm at best. Definitely not hot, just barely warm. Then I opened the smaller gravy, warm and only half full. Then I opened the larger gravy, warm and full. Then I opened the mashed potatoes, hot and full. Like hot hot. Then I opened the rolls, which were warm so I was fine with that. But we had to warm up just about everything that I ordered. Again, I literally live 3 minutes away. I didn't stop anywhere along my way home. Got my order and went home to feed the family. So it didn't sit in my car for any length of time, other than 3 minutes. If that. So we all sat down and ate after warming up most the food. Two out of my family took a few bites of the chicken tenders then threw it away and decided to go to Sonic. When I asked why they said, just try the tenders and you'll see. Then they left to go to Sonic. And wow! First off, I don't know if there was actually any chicken. Most of the tenders were more batter than chicken. The tenders that actually had "meat" were chewy. Some were very hard to pull apart by hand. And the others, mostly batter. The mashed potatoes were good. The gravy, after warming it, was good. The poppers, not so good after having to warm them. And the rolls were good. For the most part, no one wanted the tenders. No one wanted the poppers. So we ate the mashed potatoes, rolls, and gravy. Almost $70 for really nothing. The two that went to Sonic, they spent about $25 and got burgers and fries and a drink. Steam coming of all the food. And their order was correct. The entire Chicken Express family meal I got, most was thrown out. Money thrown out. I used to love Chicken Express but after today, maybe I'll drive further and try Golden Chick. Or drive further and go to Cane's or Popeye's. I just don't see myself returning to Chicken Express again. My family said I should call and request a refund but I didn't. Nor did I drive to take my order back to complain. I just don't trust that process, returning food and complaining about it to see if the order could be re-made. Last thing I want is someone mad at me remaking my order. I'm not saying anyone would do anything to the order, it's just not worth it to me. And if Chicken Express wants to refund my money, well that's up to them. I'm sure someone with Chicken Express will see this review and maybe reach out. But I'm not going to call or go back to the business and demand my money back.

Chicken with dry and overcooked Its been sitting for hours. Hardly no meat at all nasty taste won't go there again don't spend your money ain't no good.

Dropped in to grab dinner tonight and placed my order. Was advised they do not have fountain drinks. Now today makes it an week since I was there and they didn’t have fountain drinks then. Second we were told they do not have flour to make chicken…. That would be very poor restaurant management if in fact they ran out of flour. When asked to speak to someone I was told to call corporate office and the number was on the front door. So since I was advised by an employee to contact them I will do that for sure.

This is the worst chicken express ever. They always get your order wrong, and DO NOT ORDER THE COOKIES. My brother and I got food poisoning from them. They don’t cook the food right. Go to another chicken express. This one sucks.

I bought a 3 piece catfish meal and added a piece today and it is nasty!!! Greasy bad greasy!! And had absolutely no seasoning to it bland and has made me have bad indigestion and just grose!!! Do not get there fish!!! I was there for a Dr appointment at my Dr and I usually get my fish from Gun Barrel city texas. And its very flavorful and not nasty grease!! The okra was loaded with grease and nasty as wel!! Very unsatisfied. Want my momey back or another meal at Gun Barrel city tx location!!!! I will never eat at Red Oak location again!!!!!!! Nasty!!! Made me sick!!!! Bull!!! Not a happy customer at all!!! I CALLED THE STORE AND THHEY WANTED ME TO BRING WHATS LEFT OF MY MEAL THATS LEFT! AND ITS A 2 HOUR TRIP ROUND TRIP TO DO SOO!!!!!! PURE BS!! SAID WAS THERE POLICY!!! THE MEAL WAS A LITTLE OVER $20. COST ME MORE THAN THAT TO GO THERE AND BACK AND GAS TO TAKE MEAL AND REECEIPT!!!! VERY UNECEPTABLE AND VERY WRONG!!! CROOKED!!! I went inside and ordered a 7-piece meal—half regular and half spicy—but I received all 7 pieces spicy. On top of that, the chicken was mostly crust with very little meat. The employees had an attitude and seemed to avoid speaking to me altogether. None of them were wearing hair nets, and they were on their phones while preparing the food. This was an unprofessional and disappointing experience.

Asked for a lot of hot sause and she said no because they don't get a truck till Friday... Tell me how that's my problem? I just paid $20 for a number 2 and offered to pay for more hot sause. So now I have to source my own hot sause? I'm already going for an incredibly unhealthy meal, I'm not about to eat this without the sauce I want. I will never come back here or probably any chicken express. It's happened before at other locations. You know how long hot sause keeps? Forever... Over order the hot sauce and charge people for extra... That simple.

Tried twice. Ordered their chicken liver dinner. While it was cooked in record time it came to keep burnt. I complained and was given a chance to get another meal. I went the very best day. Same cashier on deputy who know the problem yet the meal was ready just as fast and just as burned. In the past I had to wait at least 15 minutes to get the meal. These two ti.es it came in less than 10 minutes. This tells me they have the heat way to high abd are cooking g way too fast. Tasted terrible. I will not be back!

This place is trash. I asked for my tenders and fries to be made fresh. I live less than 5 mins away get home and my food was cold. Called and spoke to a manager that said to bring it back but why should I have to come back. Never again I will take the ride to Grand Prairie where the food is always made to order and hot. I knew when the guy voice changed when I said make my food fresh it was going to be wrong.

Just paid for a family meal. 25pc with 2 sides and rolls. We only received 15 strips and the fries appear as if they were not done cooking. Please enroll your employees to the Life school down the street. Never again!!

Purchased a family meal as usual today. We made sure that the "gravy" was included because it wasn't the lady 2 times we visited, but got home and they shorted us the "fries" we ordered as one side and YES it's on the receipt. Every 3 out of 4 times we order here at the Red Oak location we are short at least one item. I don't have the time, energy or gas to return especially after driving home from another state. I guess next time we'll pickup our chicken from a grocery store!!! Smh

My family and I go to this chicken express all the time and spend well over 80+ every time. We usually really like the place good food and the general manager is great. However today I went up there and not only was the employee at the window rude but the person who took our order as well. When I asked for ONE more sauce pack, because I only got two for an order of three. The employee said I have to ask my manager. I just spend 60 dollars and was treated very rudely and can't even get ONE sauce cup ? That's absolutely ridiculous. Unfortunately we will not be going back. The quality of that chicken express has really gone down hill and I would know as I WAS not only a loyal customer but a worker there 6 or so years ago.
