Food was great! And the service was even better! The woman with pink hair was amazing! I'd come back just to talk to her!!😍
The place is so yummy. Great food and Wan was so sweet and took care of us. Definitely will be coming back.
i’ve been coming here for years on and off but consistently for about 8 months now. my food is always delicious and there always quick. kailey is amazing ( i’m sorry if im spelling that wrong ) she has my order & name memorized and she always has a smile when i come in. it really makes someone want to come back over and over not just for the food but for the experience
I love this place! Im sorry for not leaving a review sooner. This place hooks it up with the portions and a flavor to match! Cant find anything else like it up here in Redding. Hands down best spot 👌 Tried the Chefs Special Garlic Chicken. If only all the meals were as hot and amazing as the chefs special but i understand. Always room for improvement but congrats on being the best 🥰
Mr. Lee has officially created the perfect blend of Asian–Hawaiian fusion—flavors, magic, and love all on one plate. Finding this gem truly makes it a Merry Christmas for me. Tucked away in beautiful California, this restaurant has been open a long time for a reason—it is genuinely special. If Mr. Lee were on DoorDash, I would have already ordered everything on the menu. The food is magical, the flavors are unforgettable, and the experience feels made with care and heart. I can confidently say you will not be disappointed, and you’ll be very happy you came.
We love this place! We just moved to redding 3years ago and maybe only go to 4 places to eat out (there's not many good places here) this restaurant is one of our top picks. Everyone is always so nice I've never had any issues with my food or something missing. Love their drink options! Only wish they had garlic shrimp like other hawaiian bbq places but that's my only complaint
My son and I stopped into NIU Hawaiian BBQ and left stuffed, happy, and already thinking about when we’ll be back. The vibe inside is simple but inviting with island touches, beach mural, bamboo accents just enough to give you that Hawaiian escape without needing a plane ticket. Now let’s talk food: We ordered the Spam Musubi and the BBQ Mix Plate both were absolute winners. The musubi was wrapped perfectly, with just the right balance of rice, spam, and sauce. A perfect starter. The BBQ Mix Plate was no joke. It came LOADED with a mountain of beef, ribs, and chicken all grilled to smoky perfection. The ribs had that beautiful char that gives you a little crisp on the outside while staying tender inside. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, and the beef was seasoned spot-on. And yes the cold macaroni salad? Honestly hit the spot. Creamy, chilled, and the perfect contrast to all the hot grilled goodness. Portion sizes? Let’s just say you better come hungry or plan on taking some home. This is a solid spot for anyone craving big flavors, generous portions, and a little slice of the islands right here on the mainland.
We were doing a road trip and needed a place to have a lunch but did not have much time. Portions are large, food is great for the price, the eatery was very clean and service exceptional. My husband got bbq mix with beef, short ribs, chicken that comes with rice, veggies and mac salad for $16.99, I took seafood mix with fried fish and shrimp also comes with rice and mac salad for $14.99, highly recommend as this is great alternative to fast food and burgers. Mac salad was really good! Since it was our first time we were also given to try various sauces as complimentary add-on. The menu has great options for different size portions. There are enough tables to eat inside, but they also pack nicely for to go. The gentlemen who was at cashier on 1st of May 2pm was exceptionally professional and polite, going extra mile. Highly recommend this place!!! Added bonus is that we were driving electric car and there are superchargers 5 min away, so you can charge the car while having lunch to save time.
This is the best Hawaiian food place! We lived in Southern California for many years, and after trying Niu while driving through Redding on a summer vacation trip, my kids fell in love with Hawaiian food but every Hawaiian restaurant we went to after that was a disappointment in comparison! So now every year we HAVE to stop at Niu for lunch, we won't go anywhere else for Hawaiian anymore!
Redding, CA. I’m from Hawaii and Niu satisfied our Kalua Pork Plate Lunch cravings to a T. Ono everything. Slightly better price compared to other Hawaiian grills in Cali. Good service. Clean space with Hawaiian-style decor. Music wasn’t Hawaiian, though, it was maybe Vietnamese or Thai? I asked the guy at the register and he said he didn’t know. It had a steady stream of customers right up to closing. Highly recommend.
Good food. I ordered a House fried rice and it was covered in BBQ chicken, BBQ beef and shrimp. The meat to rice and veggie ratio was very gracious, tons of meat. The flavor was good, rice was fluffy and we'll cooked. Meat fell apart in your mouth, tender and juicy. For my liking it could have used a few more veggies.
All the food is tasty for what it is rice is good but love the macaroni salad so good and all the meats are good pulled pork and chicken or the combo trays they do good for Hawaiian BBQ 😋
I got the vegetarian bowl and was very disappointed. Plain rice with 4 broccoli spears, 2 carrot slices, and a tablespoon of cabbage. Definitely not worth the almost $10 price. We were the only ones in the small restaurant and the teenage girls kept yelling out the order number. Really we are the only ones here! Portion size was very disappointing and I will not be going back.
The reason im giving only 1 stars for service and 3 for food is, the Katsu sauce that you have to purchase extra are literally only filled 1/2 full. If you are charging .50 per tiny little container, fill it up!!!! You are ripping your customers off. We like your food....BUT please just fill up your sauces and give what your customers are paying for!!
Sad to say, this restaurant did not satisfy in any way shape or form. I had been craving Hawaiian food and found this place on line, but unfortunately the food ended up making me ill. Ill to the point of throwing up. It was a complete waste because the food already was already out of my budget for eating out on this trip. And I even asked if they could make my meal into a mini size, but they wouldn't. There was some confusion, the cashier said it was doable and then after I placed my order and paid for it, one of the cooks came back and said they couldn't make my order into a mini. It sounded like they didn't want to fire up the grill for one patty. The mini sized meal and cost would have been more affordable and in my budget, but they just wouldn't budge. Either way, it was a bust bc I ended up throwing it all up. I wouldn't return to this Hawaiian food serving restaurant, I would much rather go to L&L Hawaiian.
I love the food at Niu, but when I ate here on Thursday 10/02, the girl at the register had her whole finger in her mouth, picking her teeth. She proceeded to touch the register, the counter, the “door” into the kitchen, the sauces, the plastic cutlery, and the food as she handed it to customers without washing her hands first. It really made me lose my appetite. As someone who has worked in a kitchen and is ServSafe certified, I understand the dangers of doing something like this and it just turned my stomach. I hope the owners talk to their staff about proper food handling. I really want to be able to eat here again but do not see that as a possibility right now after seeing what I saw.
This place is nasty to eat at especially after a Hostile worker that yelled at my little three year old girl for accidentally getting sprite instead of water. Will not be back.
Seriously charge me almost $20 for a plate of food and the portion sizes are for children. Your scandalous and you run your business like a shitty owner. Also cold . And half my beef which already had small portion and half of it was gristle impossible to chew. Seriously how are you in business and someone needs to open up a competitor they would kill it if they did it like any other Hawaiian BBQ place
Food is quickly prepared with large portions, cafeteria style. Unfortunately when we went, the spices especially in the main entrees were completely absent, no seasoning, just very salty across the board. I think the macaroni salad is just mayonnaise and pineapple juice, pretty gross. I don't like giving bad reviews, but I have to. Wish we had a good Hawaiian place in Redding.
