Went to the state for the first time to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. I had a pretty good time, my burger and salad were good, nothing that blew me away to be honest. I did appreciate the surprise ice cream for the occasion, though! Very kind by the restaurant. But one thing I was sort of surprised by was the service. It felt like the hosts were a lot more welcoming and friendly than our server. Our hosts smiled, sparked conversation, and made sure we were settled. But our server felt like she was doing the bare minimum, taking our order, checking in, giving us our check, and not much more. There was little to no friendliness or conversation. I've seen more hospitality at restaurants that don't even have servers and hosts. Not tryna leave a 1 star review, but definitely was expecting more from the service and food overall.
Amazing cocktails and the best Date Appetizer. Went by on Saturday with a few friends and Aubrey was out server. She was the sweetest and very attentive, amid it being busy. Love love love!
Later evening. Stopped by with friends. Quickly seated at a high table wirh stools. Loved the decor. Some of the lighting setup like birdcages. One wall had wallpaper. Different wall had mirrors. Looked over the menu and thought to order two burgers and split them so we could try more. We ordered the shrimp tacos, Drunken Pig burger, Bourbon Barbeque burger, Mac & Cheese, and the Mamma's Meatballs. Both burgers were delicious. Mine came with onion rings- they were battered and oily. The meatballs were huge. Service was good. Ordered a Creme Brulee and it was crispy.
Other than a bit of noise, I highly recommend the place. We ate avocado tacos, braised beef tacos, and the chicken pesto sandwich and the State salad had a wonderful lemon vinaigrette dressing. (It also was enough to split between two ppl). Our appetizer was the bruschetta and we split dessert, and had the creme brulee.
Great food! I had the grilled cheese artichoke spinach sandwich. It was delicious. It was grilled with garlic aioli butter. Delicious! Waited almost an hour for seating on a weekend even though they had open tables but they were leaving them in case big parties showed up. But the service was good. The music was a bit loud. But I would return for the food and the ambiance. Great little place.
My daughter and I stopped at The State for a quick lunch after her Dr. appt and the food was very good, I actually had a appetizer for my meal, I ordered the poutain with short ribs it's was so good and my daughter got a burger. I ordered a cocktail that was beautiful but I didn't like the taste.. But that wasn't their fault, more my taste buds. I reordered a drink I knew. The service was so friendly, Brittany and Julianna was our servers, great job ladies. I'd recommend to stop in for a visit to have some great food and service.
I didn’t expect the service and atmosphere to be this amazing! Such a perfect spot for a weekend hangout, whether with a friend or on a date. The food is absolutely delicious, and their bar is well-known for a wide variety of unique cocktails. The bar setup and service are excellent. The manager was extremely friendly, suggested great dishes, and was very helpful and smiling the entire time. I can confidently say this is one of the best gastropubs/bars in Redlands when it comes to food, ambiance, and overall experience. 👌
A group of girlfriend and I stopped for lunch. We found the servers very nice and helpful. We ordered happy hour menu at 11:30 am and had a very good lunch and reasonably priced. The beef tacos were very tasty. The bourbon burger was excellent and cooked perfectly. My wedge salad was good. Overall very nice lunch visit.
We had an Exceptional experience from the start tonight... The greeting at the door from your outstanding hosts was over the top, and extremely inviting and friendly. The speak-easy experience at the Black Antler Book club was unforgettable. Our reservation was on point and the timing was perfect. Sierra is a wonderful ambassador of the establishment (very knowledgeable) and deserves to be promoted. She was a delight and delivered a fun smiley experience that we really enjoyed. Evan the bartender came out to say hello and we complimented him on his concoctions on the winter holiday drink menu. The drinks were outstanding, delicious, and everything we expected from such a unique and local "secret"spot. I was charmed and thought you have a gem of a space. The best part about it was the staff performed in a way to compliment the time we spent there and when that time expired (90 minutes) they were graciously inviting us to leave and come back again for more. Extremely professional and the exit strategy was delivered with grace. Thank you for having us, I'll be back for certain and am so grateful to now know about this incredibly niche scene in Downtown Redlands... Wow!
Stopped in here the other Friday night with my wife for dinner. We popped in and found out that we had made it early enough to order from the happy hour menu. I want you to know that everything that I’m sharing here was from the happy hour menu. We started out with the bacon wrapped dates and they were so good. My wife really liked the balsamic drizzle on them and I enjoyed the Gorgonzola on the side. We also ordered the web Charlotte to start with. I felt like we should eat some salad and have something healthy. That was super good to. After that we had our main courses brought out. One of our courses was the burger that had bacon and onion ring on it. I’m forgetting the name of it right now. And then my wife got the mac & cheese. We didn’t get it with lobster in it we just went for regular mac & cheese. Food came out quickly, and our server was super amazing. We had a great little table to sit at. If I was to say one thing as an adjustment, the music is just a touch loud in this place but that’s not something that’s going to stop me from coming back.
My family and I have been coming here for years! It's my favorite restaurant in the area! They have unique cocktails, they specialize in whiskey and bourbon drinks, but they have variety of cocktails, from gin to vodka, to rum and they're all amazing!!! Poutine is a must try appetizer there! They also have a burger of the month and themed days of the week. They serve brunch on the weekends, which we tried for the 1st time a couple of weeks ago and the food was great! All in all it's a must try place!
Best Gastropub in the Inland Empire. Great selection of liquor, they can make literally any cocktail you request. I appreciate that they use fresh juices in their cocktails instead of processed juice. Yummy eats... I'm a huge fan of their Poutine; it's the best! They have a good Taco Tuesday special, must check it out! 🌮🌮🌮
Awesome location and patio for a Sunday brunch. The presentation of the food was spot on... the food itself was decent, but not as delicious as I expected. For example, the "tempura battered" onion rings didn't seem to be of actual tempura batter (more like flour). The salmon eggs Benedict comes on brioche but it lacked texture... a crunchier bread like standard English Muffin would have made it much more appealing. On the plus side, service was really good and the prices were reasonable.
Great food and atmosphere, the waiters good. But did take a while to your drinks when sitting at a table. Would take like 10-15 min for each drink to arrive at the table which slowed things down. I got the poutine and it wag good I finished it but the gravy they add was at time overwhelming in flavor. I tasted a burger and it was great. Bread pudding was great with nice soft bread. Would go again, do recommend.
My husband raves about this place as one of his favorites, but TBH every time we've gone I've been disappointed. This last time, I don't know if the chilaquiles are usually so spicy but like... I'm a sriracha fanatic and I was really struggling to enjoy (rather than endure) the heat of whatever was on those tortilla chips; I spent most of my Valentine's brunch focusing wondering when the waitress was going to come around with more water because I kept gulping mine down. The bread pudding was a welcome, cooling/soothing reprieve, though; definitely the best thing I've had off their menu, by far.
Had wagu burger and it tasted like dry ground beef fully over cooked and we ordered medium well done. Fries where stiff and cold maybe due to big fans above. The atmosphere is aesthetically pleasing and drinks where very good. Maybe it was off day bill came out to 80$ for 1 burger and 2 drinks.
I recently visited a restaurant with a beautiful and modern atmosphere. However, I was quite disappointed with the restroom facility, which was in desperate need of cleaning. It made me feel dirty even before sitting down to eat. On a positive note, the bar area was stunning, showcasing a wide variety of exquisite bottles to choose from. Now, moving on to the most important part - the food. The Mac and cheese dish was alright, although it didn't meet my expectations of an authentic and flavorful rendition. On the other hand, the brussels sprouts were an absolute standout. I highly recommend trying them as they were cooked to perfection and bursting with savory goodness. The steak, while decent, had a major flaw; it was overly greasy. Every bite felt like a mouthful of oil, but the saving grace was the delicious butter that elevated the flavors. Moving on to the kids' grilled cheese sandwich, it was good and pleasing enough for my son to enjoy it. As for the meatball sandwich, it was simply fantastic, packed with flavor, and satisfied my taste buds without fail. Overall, despite the beautiful and modern setting, the unclean restroom left a sour taste in my mouth. While some dishes, like the Brussel sprouts and the meatball sandwich, were top-notch, others fell short. With a few improvements, this restaurant could certainly be a go-to spot.
Edit: 3/25/22 I came here for my birthday and decided to try the ribeye. I ordered it medium rare and it came completely well done. The flavor was good, but just not at all what I ordered. Once again, our waiter didn't come to check on us until we were pretty much done eating, and at that point it was too awkward to say something because I didn't want it to seem like I was just trying to get more food/my meal comped. Everything else was good, just disappointed in the accuracy and service. -- I've been here a few times, and have always had a pretty good experience. I came for dinner with my husband on a Thursday evening and there was about a 20 minute wait. I really liked that the wait-list had a link to see where we were in line. The service was pretty good and we got our food relatively quickly. Unfortunately after we got our entrees, the waiter never came to check on us until we had finished eating and didn't ever refill our waters, which were empty about half way through. The food itself was good, though it was weird that some of the menu items didn't have prices next to them (you scan a QR code at the table that links you to their menu).
I’m just gonna start off with if your a person of color you will be ignored me and and my sister went last night I walked to the counter and the guy says “how can I help you” as I proceeded to say we have a reservation he stops me right in the middle of me talking puts his finger up and says hold just to answer the phone when the girl next to him could’ve answered it, it was rude and unpleasant. I sat waiting for our table which he allowed other groups with no reservation come in and get table before my sister and I then finally we get our table our waiter distance after she ordered our food she would never come back to check on the table we would have to get up and go look for her the food was terrible my broccolini came out almost frozen like it was never cooked then again I had to get up to find out waiter again to send it back. I ordered something else and still wasn’t satisfied just for her to say well lost a couple of our good chefs and the new ones ain’t so good which their not (BRING THE OLD COOK BACK!) And also hire people that treat all race equal instead of the of the ones that’s high key racist. Towards people of color!!
My boyfriend and I visited last night, and while the atmosphere was nice, the experience left us disappointed. We’re a biracial couple he’s white, I’m Black and the difference in how we were treated compared to other guests was hard to ignore. The restaurant wasn’t busy at all we were one of only three couples sitting on the patio. The manager, Brittany, was very attentive and friendly with the other couples but noticeably distant with us. At first, I thought maybe it was because we hadn’t ordered food yet and were just having drinks. But when she brought my second drink, she simply set it on the table without saying a word or acknowledging us, then walked away. My boyfriend and I looked at each other wondering what the issue was. Our waitress was polite and even suggested a drink for my boyfriend, which we appreciated. He ordered me the short rib tacos, but after about 20 minutes, she came back only to ask if he was ready to order food. He said no, but by then, my tacos still hadn’t arrived. Another 20 minutes and a third round of drinks later still no food. With the restaurant nearly empty, there was really no reason for the delay, so we decided to leave. It’s disappointing to spend money somewhere and still feel overlooked and uncomfortable. Every guest deserves to feel welcomed and respected regardless of who they are or who they’re with. I truly hope management takes this feedback seriously and provides better training to ensure consistent, respectful service for everyone.
