Saturday brunch is relaxing tasty and very fun with grate live music on the patio by wonderful, fabulous local musical artists and is very kid & dog friendly, super friendly staff & patrons and real comfy & spacious. I absolutely love everything about it, except the regular drip coffee, only thing there thats not at the very high quality and flavorful level of everything else they create & serve. Staff is lovely and finely skilled at making dishes so perfectly to your personal taste preferences, it's now become a weekly favorite gathering tradition of many grate friends who enjoy fine eats, fine folks, fine music, fine atmosphere & sweet silly dogs
I’ve eaten at Golden Gate Bistro five times now, and honestly, the food just blows me away every single time. The flavors are amazing, and the quality is always super consistent. I keep meaning to take photos for a review, but the food always looks so good that I just dive right in-no time for pictures! You can really tell they use fresh, top-notch ingredients, and everything is cooked just right. The outdoor seating is really nice and peaceful, and the staff are always super friendly and welcoming. Prices aren’t the cheapest around, but honestly, the quality makes it totally worth it. My only small gripe is that they close at 5pm on weekdays. I wish they stayed open later so I could grab dinner after my ferry gets in at the Richmond Ferry Terminal at 6:35pm. Overall, I can’t recommend this place enough.
The outdoor dining and abiance was enjoyable. Service was self serve and all condiments were available for fast seating. The menu is average and the place is a little out of the way but very worth it.
Great place. Great vibe. Live music sometimes. I went on Saturday around 1:00pm hoping to listen to live music but there was none. But place it’s pretty nice.
This place is definitely a gem! I highly recommend the outdoor atmosphere with the beautiful plants and super chill vibes, this is a spot I would love to visit again. The food was also amazing and the service was excellent, we had questions about the menu and we had our questions answered with no problem and they were happy to modify to accommodate any dietary restrictions we had. 10/10 recommend this place!
Visiting from Phoenix, randomly googled a place near my air b and b. Found Golden Gate Bistro.... And when I tell you it's the best food my daughters and I have had, I mean it. No exaggerations. DELICIOUS food, staff is kind and welcoming. Absolutely must stop destination if you are in the area.
Went for mother's day and they were so great. They handed out red roses to moms and also made me a custom order Patty Melt. Yum! How y'all are around for a while. Also love getting food from your food truck 😋
I had the Fish and Chips, it was perfectly cooked and delicious. My friends got the tacos and they were extremely pleased. Great atmosphere with outdoor seating
Excellent food, good atmosphere and live music from Walt.D Dog southern fried rock and roll music
Very nice experience. I had the clam chowder, Reuben with fries and Arnold Palmer. Everything was very good. Nice casual vibe with outdoor seating.
Stopped I'm for brunch with our cousins who live local to this Bistro. We arrived around 10 am and there was plenty of open tables. People started rolling in after we got our food, so we beat the rush. Food portions are generous, I wasn't able to finish my chilaquiles that I ordered. All of our dishes were delicious and price is fitting for what you get. The atmosphere here is very pleasant, I didn't see inside as we stayed and dined outside on their patio area.
The food is delicious and reasonably priced. There is a lot of variety in the menu. Seating is outside on a patio only. The breakfast burrito is my favorite.
This place is a real treasure! It was so nice to be out in the fresh air and sun! It's noisy because of all the truck traffic but it really didn't bother us. Check out their menu!! Lots of yummy things! My husband had Eggs Benedict - he said they were the best he's ever had! I had clam chowder and fruit salad and got a cranberry scone for later. Clam Chowder was the best I've had too! The staff was super friendly too.
This is a favorite breakfast place of mine. The potatoes are not undercooked. Everything I’ve ordered always seems to be well prepared. Nice outdoor seating.
What a fantastic find.. we went on a Saturday afternoon for lunch and it was not busy at all.. We ordered the veggie burger and grilled cheese with fruits and fries.. everything was good but the fruits were fresh and delicious.. service is ok since we order at a window and go to a table of our choice. They have indoor and Outdoor seating.. outdoor seating is mostly covered and pleasant on a warm day.. will definitely visit if we are in the area again
Definitely the spot for breakfast/lunch! Garlic knots are amazing and the fried chicken sandwich is so flavorful. Customer service was excellent as well!
Can’t wait to go back for more breakfasts here (although later in the morning, lots of folks were coming by for pizza - so inevitably will have to try those too). Sourdough, potatoes, and zucchini bread were 10/10. Eggs were not my favorite, but the dish overall was still delicious. The vibe is immaculate. I’m such a fan of the outdoor seating. Not too crowded, so it was easy for my friend and me to catch up for a couple hours. Everyone working was very sweet too!
First time coming here for brunch and really enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere. You order your food in front, you’ll then receive a food buzzer to let you know your food is ready for pick up at the pick-up window. It’s a different Brunch place compared to the ones where you sit and a waiter/waitress will come and take your order. Price is fair for the portion you get, I do feel the portions is a good size. Really enjoyed the food and will definitely try the place again!
Fastfood style bistro, with elegant outdoor terrace seating. The food did not disappoint. We had brunch with eggs Benedict, California omelets, and strawberry French toast. This is an enjoyable quick stop with an elegant touch and outstanding quality food. Service is quick and very attentive. A total must do!
During our four-day stay in Richmond near San Francisco, we had the pleasure of dining at Golden Gate Bistro for breakfast not once, but twice! That's how much we loved their food. The restaurant operates on a self-serve basis if you're dining on the patio. You place your order and are notified when your food is ready, then you pick it up at the window and bring it to your table. We found this system to be efficient and convenient. The prices were very affordable as well. We spent about $60 for breakfast for two on our first visit and only $40 for breakfast/brunch for two on our second visit. Overall, if you're staying near Richmond, we highly recommend giving Golden Gate Bistro a try. The food is fantastic, the prices are reasonable, and the self-serve system is efficient. It's definitely worth a visit!
This place is perfect. Low key. Great menu. Kind staff. Such a comfortable place to be. It makes me feel happy,
Went there for lunch for the second time, and once again was blown away by the quality and quantity of food they served! I treated some friends who commented that the Reuben sandwich was the best they had ever had…anywhere! (And they are in their 80’s and have eaten everywhere in the SF Bay Area)! Their pizzas are made with fresh hand tossed pizza dough, and are amazing! We couldn’t resist ordering the garlic knots to take home, and even though we were stuffed from lunch…very few of the knots actually made it home! 😋 Cannot wait to try their breakfast menu. The atmosphere is comforting and welcoming, with a dog friendly patio in addition to a small indoor seating area. They have live music on Sundays, which is a nice addition. Located very close off the freeway and in close proximity to the ⛴️ ferry, so convenient to get to with plenty of street parking. Last note…this was the very first time a restaurant has personally thanked me for adding a tip to the tab. Very kind servers appreciative of my choosing their restaurant for lunch.
Very cute place, all outside dining; Some covered and some uncovered. You order and then go back and get your food when they buzz your little handheld buzzer. Employees were nice enough not very conversational but we're pleasant. We would go back.
Why did I not know that there is this amazing breakfast place in my neighborhood, well thank to yelp now I know :). Okay so before I start my amazing story for this one, lemme give a big shout-out to the chef, I have never seen a chef so dedicated man. Thanks for being amazing. Okay so to my story, well it was moms day off and she wanted to go have breakfast, see I am a typical Denny's and IHOP person, for some reason I can't think beyond them, like I do know there's lot of places which serve breakfast but when time comes, I always end up in my typical place, so today I was like okay lemme just search. So I typed and in the results I got this place. While on my way to this place, I was like omg where am I going coz there all these factories around it and you would never think that there sits a cute little restaurant in the middle of everything. I find this place so cute and gorgeous, I want to introduce this place to the rest of the family soon. The food I ordered was amazing, no complaints and my mom loved her food as well. So we got the corn chowder soup which was delicious. They have really good menu. It was so hard to decide what I wanted. I did end up with omelette and pancakes, because that's typical for me ;) I really appreciated how the chef asked us if he wanted to make any changes to our food. We did feel like valued customers. Thank u so much for the great food and I hope to see u guys soon.
Best Bistro in the Bay Area! We had an amazing experience at this local and authentic Diner. I was traveling through the San Francisco area to visit family and my brother took me here. Excellent food, excellent environment. Service was quick and convenient. We even had a guitarist join us while we had brunch. Highly recommend them if you are looking for great food and an authentic Bay Area Experience.

I work in this area and Golden Gate Bistro is the best place to grab a bite to eat. The staff is very friendly and the food is of the highest quality. They also have live music occasionally on the weekends which was a pleasant surprise. If you are in the area i highly recommend this spot as a guaranteed good spot to eat.

The service is not done by waiters/waitresses instead, you have to go to a window and order there. They give you a buzzer that tells you when to go pick up your food. They have a mixed variety of dishes, burgers and sandwiches. We went on a Sunday when they had live music.
Great food. The music was a little loud on the patio. Self service
Best fish & chips I've had in years. My partner had eggs and potatoes that were quite excellent also. The people working there were nice, but i wish they had waitstaff coming to the tables and not just window service. There are a lot of flies in the area as it's attached to a meat plant, and so they have fly zappers and traps and every table has a little propeller gizmo that's meant to shoo them away. These things work pretty well but it's not great for the atmosphere. When we arrived there was a musician playing guitar and singing but it was a bit too loud.
My wife and I often drove past Golden Gate, noticing its positive reviews, and finally decided to try it out. We're glad we did. The restaurant is located in an industrial part of Richmond, with lots of semi-truck activity and occasional train traffic. Despite this, there's plenty of parking and lots of outdoor space to eat. The outdoor seating could be improved with more shade and heating. Currently, much of the front seating is exposed to the sun, which can be too warm on sunny days or too cold when the sun isn't out. Some additional umbrellas would go a long way. The menu has a great variety of options, and the Chilaquiles were particularly good. We hope they consider adding this dish to the regular menu instead of just offering it as a weekend brunch special. The tap selection for beers was a bit limited, and a couple of the beers were unavailable on our visit. It would be great to see them expand their tap options, especially with all the good craft beer Richmond has to offer. Overall, we enjoyed our meal at Golden Gate and would recommend it, even with the few suggestions for improvement.
Who doesn’t love a menu that serves you lunch for breakfast? Large selections, large portions. There is outdoor dining with umbrellas and a small side outdoor dining with a covered patio. There is contactless payment. We ordered burgers and lattes. Burgers are gigantic! French fries delish. The veggie burger patty is made in-house and made with beans and veggies. Skip the lattes it’s just okay. Parking on the street.
Large portions of good food and a really nice outside only seating area. Park along the road and walk up to order. Breakfast all day. Can substitute side dishes like salad instead of fries. Live music during weekend brunch. Breakfast sandwich has thick cut bacon, egg, cheese on croissant with side of homestyle potatoes. Tuna Melt is amazing with thousand island, cheese, pickles, lettuce and tomatoes on it.
GGB is a very decent spot to have lunch. Taco salad is great with chicken. Fresh made lemonade is good on a hot day .The pizzas are also delicious and one is plenty for two people . Ample seating but parking is terrible . Chef owned. On some weekends there is live music to jam with while chowing down . Rumor has it the chef/owner was the chef at Terrapin crossroads out in Marin county.

I’ve had the breakfast which is decent but today I ordered the short rib gnocchi and garlic knots and I’m so disappointed in this order that I definitely won’t ever order these items again from them. The gnocchi was over dressed with arugula and the gnocchi itself didn’t taste good but the short rib was good. The garlic knots were pretty over cooked and hard/stale
Gentrified diner. Made up to look like a yuppie type place but ingredients were not high quality. Coffee tasted bad. Im not picky, but bad coffee is just bad coffee. Worse than gas station coffee. No refills, you have to buy a whole new paper cup to get another cup of coffee. They also made no attempt to refund me or make me a better cup, or anything.. literally said, "there is nothing I can do..." okay then... The good: the food was served extremely fast, food was cooked PERFECTLY, I had potatoes, french toast, eggs and chicken sausage. Nothing was burned, dry, greasy, etc. Honestly just wish it was marketed as a regular diner because thats what it was, but overpriced. It is what it is, Richmond is being gentrified.. I do like the story of the hard working people who started the restaurant. And I hope the best for them. Honestly if they just had good coffee, or wanted to refund me, or SOMETHING, I would have given 5 stars.
Went here with the family. Our bill before tip was $81 for 3 people. Very little covered seating available, majority of seating is outside uncovered, so avoid on rainy days. Very little parking available. We got the Ruben the cheeseburger clam chowder, Margarita pizza and watermelon lemonade in addition to other beverages not made on site. The Reuben had lettuce. I've never seen that before. I ordered my burger medium. It was very overdone more like an extra well done burger. The clam chowder was delicious. The pizza was great. The watermelon lemonade tasted more like watermelon than lemonade which I preferred. I would have liked to give it four stars but with the fact that it had very little covered seating and the overcooked burger landed it at a three.
We went here because 4.7 star. But I was not sure why it is 4.7? Food is okay not special. Then it is not expensive not cheap. Coffee was dark roast so my husband did not like it. Orange juice is okay but expensive. We just receive the food at the counter and clean by ourself. So I feel we did not need to pay tip. Live music is nice.

Love me a cold mocha to-go! Honestly extremely disappointed with the overall quality of the food. I mean, it looks good, just doesn't taste good. The Mocha was the nail in the coffin. It was a bit colder than luke-warm. Also didn't have a strong flavor, probably was filled with too much creamer. Anyways, not worth it and I won't visit again.
Ordered Crab Benedict $28, got Pork. They remade the order and used very little crab. Disappointing. Seems they pass their mistake onto the customer. Holindase sauce tastes like mayo second time around.

Man this place needs to train their employees. Called in an order. Told Victor that I wanted the veggie omelette, but scrambled. Scrambled? He said. Yes scrambled, I said But I thought you wanted the omelette? I would like everything that's in the veggie omelet but scrambled please. So....not the omelette? I see you not, I had to say the word scrambled like six or seven times. The idea boggled his mind. I get there, and of course the omelette isn't scrambled. He seemed confused when I pointed this out to him. He was on his phone the whole time and was very distracted. Asked for the key to the bathroom, he said it's open. Walked over, it wasn't open. Got the key. The fresh squeezed orange juice they give you is in a cup filled with ice that melts quickly so you get watered down orange juice. It was a rip off at $7. The hollandaise sauce was just congealed grease that did not taste like hollandaise sauce. The potatoes and ingredients were decent but this place is slacking. Don't put ice in fresh-squeezed orange juice!
I ordered the French toast with scrambled eggs and bacon. The toast was soggy with some weird tasting strawberry syrup, only 2 pieces of bacon and questionable tasting eggs. The fried potatoes did seem fresh and tasted good. Not very big for $20+tip. The chamomile tea tasted like dish soap. We sat in the patio and the chairs smelled like rust. It was immediately obvious to me and felt gross to sit on them
