The Boathouse at Short Pump

Almost always delicious here. Service is usually really good, a couple of not great service experiences over the years though. A snobby bartender most recently and once the slowest waiter in mankind when there were only 2 tables and she was just assigned to us. Just disappeared for 30 minutes or more with no explanation and no coverage.

My wife and I are here on Sunday for brunch with another couple. There were plenty of options on the menu. Our group had the biscuit basket, mimosa bar, chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, egg white Chesapeake omelette, wedge salad, and the crab cake benedict. Everyone enjoyed the food. The service was good as well. The only real complaint was that quite a few fruit flies/gnats were near our table in the corner after they opened the large bay doors. However, it was still a great experience, and we will return.

We came here for our anniversary and Our Server Riley was awesome!! We got a hand written card and a free dessert! Riley did a great job making sure we got what we needed and enjoyed our anniversary dinner!

We enjoyed a wonderful New Year’s Eve family meal. The food was excellent, the atmosphere warm and welcoming, and Tanner provided kind, friendly, and attentive service.

Clean spacious restaurant. Most of our food was cooked to near perfection. However, our calamari was way over cooked and came out rubbery. Also, my shrimp were also slightly rubbery. Nevertheless, that didn’t ruin our meal and we would still recommend this restaurant . The salmon had a nice sear yet still flaky and moist. The crab cakes were not over stuffed with bread crumbs like many other places, instead they were generous portions of lump crab. Our mussel appetizers was presented with plump mussels.

My husband and I ate here for lunch and had some of the best food we’ve had in a long time. Our server Callie was fantastic! She made sure we had everything we needed, and was able to make excellent recommendations for side pairings with our meal. She checked in frequently so we never had to worry about flagging her down if we needed something. My husband and I don’t drink alcohol, and Callie was able to recommend a “fauxjito” that perfectly complemented my meal! We absolutely will come here again!

We had an amazing experience here this afternoon. Lucy, our server, was so kind and attentive. The food was fresh and delicious as was the salted caramel espresso martini. We will be back every time we come to Short Pump Town Center!

Celebrated a friends birthday with brunch & Gaby was the best! Great service. We had a great time! Thanks Gaby! Go see her.

After securing rushed reservations, on a booked Saturday evening, my family and I were greeted with prompt service. A table was not available for us after about a 10 minute wait so to make up for the mishap the staff allowed us access to the special, private dining room (which normally comes with an up charge but not for us!) Our server Kelsey was splendid. She was very kind, personable, and knowledgeable. Every single member of the family was so satisfied with their meals. And the deserts were even better (none pictured because we destroyed them!) We are already booked to come back for my Dad’s birthday! Absolutely fantastic restaurant!

Had a great experience here for Valentine’s Day. We had a reservation and were seated promptly . We had a drink special which was delicious. The Rockefeller oysters were my favorite. I did not enjoy the broiled seafood combination it was bland. The mash potatoes didn’t have flavor. The crab dip was very good.! Will be returning . Calamari was a hit too.

Kaila was fantastic we ordered our appetizers but couldn’t decide on the dinners she knew all the dishes and was able to help us decide plus my drink Great service great food and atmosphere!!! & this is all that’s left the Boathouse is the Best!

We usually go to the downtown location but I wanted to switch things up. So I called and asked for the private room. There is a fee to reserve. It seats 12 people. It’s very nice! The atmosphere and music selection was great. Our server Tiffany was attentive and very friendly. Thanks for making it a great birthday for my husband!! We will be back.

My family and I had dinner at the boathouse and we had a wonderful time. From the shrimp to the service, it was all perfect! Our waiter was Tanner and he was very polite and made sure we were well taking care of. We will definitely come back and we will want Tanner to serve us again! Thank you again Tanner for the lovey service.

Celebrated mine and my boyfriend’s anniversary here and it was amazing! Free champagne and a free dessert were much appreciated. Our waiter, Tanner, was awesome! Will be coming back soon!

Jessica was amazing! She was so sweet and provided awesome service. My fiancé was pleased with not only how she managed her section but also proved everyone with grade A service including us.

My friends and I had such a great experience at The Boathouse, and Riley was a big part of it. We were celebrating my friend’s birthday, and Riley went out of their way to make the night feel special. Riley was super friendly, easy talk to, and had great timing with everything…attentive without being overbearing. Riley gave us spot-on food recommendations, and the dessert that was brought out for the birthday was absolutely amazing. Everything was great! If you’re heading to The Boathouse, I hope you get Riley as your server. Riley really helped make the night one to remember.

We had a fantastic experience thanks to Jessica. She took great care of our entire party, was attentive and professional, and offered excellent menu recommendations. The crab dip was excellent but the crab cake I could have passed. Everything was perfect, and Jessica service made the visit even better. I will be back!!

Hunny and I came for our anniversary. We have the pleasure of being served by Lexi. She is literally the best server and person I've ever met. She was so attentive and made our day so so special. Oh my... so amazing, words can not express how delightful our server was and delicious the food is. Mouth watering shrimp, soft scallops, our server Callie was so inquisitive as she always came to check on us. Came in as waitress and guest and left as friends.... she even brought me a spoon. I would post pictures but we ate all our food.

My dad took me to dinner here and it was super nice and wonderful. The food was quite good. I completely fell in love with our server Hannah. She was completely an absolutely the best 10 out of 10 I would recommend her to everybody.

Tanner our server was awesome!!! My steak was cooked perfectly & my wedge salad was fresh & the lettuce was crisp. The wedge & a protein is my go to. We started a NYE tradition & Im so glad we chose Boathouse. See ya soon & NYE 2026!

I had a wonderful experience dining here! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the service truly stood out. Riley went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Lucy was amazing!! She really went above and beyond to make our small Birthday Brunch a memorable one - she was so kind and thoughtful! The food is always delicious here and we keep coming back! House music was way too loud for my taste - but that’s the only critique I have.

The food was great and and absolutely delicious. Tanner our server was amazing. He made sure we had a great experience and he was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. Let alone his patience while I tried to decide what I wanted haha. Over all was a great birthday dinner. 10/10

The Boathouse at Short Pump exceeded every expectation. The ambience is perfectly "classy"—upscale and polished enough for a special occasion, but comfortable enough to actually relax and enjoy the vibe. The food was the real standout: Oysters: Incredibly fresh and briny. They clearly take their raw bar seriously here. Crab Cakes: Way better than your average restaurant offering. They were packed with lump meat and minimal filler, seasoned to perfection. The Signature Zookie: You cannot leave without ordering the cookie with ice cream. It’s served warm, gooey, and is the ultimate way to end the meal. Beyond the food, the service was excellent. The staff was attentive and professional, making the whole evening feel seamless. Whether you're a local or just shopping at the mall, this is easily one of the best dining spots in the area.

My wife and I had a fantastic meal! The calamari was delicious. The bread was amazing. And we both had salmon and it was perfect. Lucy was our waitress and she was so incredibly friendly and attentive to everything. Really great experience!

My wife and I really enjoyed our experience. Maybe I'm not cultured enough, but whoever's idea it was to include roasted cloves of garlic on the steak deserves a pay raise. Hayley was an exceptional waitress and bartender (I noticed she made our drinks as well). She asked us questions we didnt think of to ensure our meal was perfect.

Just finished dinner and wanted to take a moment to highlight the exceptional service provided by our waiter, Tanner. From the moment we sat down, he was incredibly pleasant and personable.. The food was served in a timely manner, which enhanced our overall dining experience. His communication was excellent; he was attentive without being intrusive, ensuring we had everything we needed. Overall, Tanner provided fantastic service that truly made our meal excellent. Nice job Tanner!!

Jessica was absolutely amazing from start to finish. She was attentive without being overbearing, made sure our drinks stayed full, and checked in at the perfect times. Her energy was warm and welcoming, and she made the entire dining experience feel effortless and enjoyable. You can tell she genuinely cares about her guests and takes pride in her work. We will definitely be back and would love to sit in her section again!

Everything about our dining experience at the Boathouse was exceptional - except the service. The food was amazing! The beer- battered fish and chips were some of the very best I've ever eaten - including in Ireland! Our party of four raved about the food. The ambience is fresh, open, and modern. We sat on a high top next to an open wall that was completely open to the outside. Here's the problem, however: our server was too busy mixing drinks behind the bar to pay us any attention. We had to locate someone else to tend to us several times while she forgot about us completely. We sat for the longest time even waiting for the check; once we finally got her attention, she was rather curt with us and said she would be over in a minute. That's not what one expects from a classy establishment like Boathouse. Will we return? Yes. But we hope the quality of service improves.

While in the area for business we came here as a small group for a business dinner. The staff was great, very helpful and friendly. The setting is nice, open kitchen concept with a couple different dining room areas and it was comfy and not too loud. The menu was really the only issue, it’s really basic, especially for a place that appears to be a seafood joint. They had such a poor selection of seafood, that one of the guys who came and is normally someone who only eats seafood ordered a filet! The filet did look pretty good. My entrée was their broiled seafood platter, which was decent. The scallops on it were fresh and cooked perfectly. For starters we got their big seafood tower and it was loaded with some nice, fresh options. Even the lobster on it was great. The shrimp was outstanding! So, they do an amazing jon preparing food here, for sure! Their starter salad was excellent too. Save room for dessert, as they have some of the most amazing bread pudding! Another issue I had was that they offered some decent wine selections, but they serve red wine from a white glass. Otherwise, the dinner went great and the food also was great. Service provided by Lucy, our server was outstanding! I’d recommend stopping in, just check the menu first to make sure they have what you’re seeking.

The food was okay nothing to write home about. The burger was cooked a little over and so much that I could barely get it into my mouth. The service was pretty slow. We were there for over an hour. So the turnaround time was pretty slow, but it was really busy. The decor was great though.

It was our first time at The Boathouse. The atmosphere was nice & inviting. We were seated by the window which was great for people watching. The food was delicious!! I highly recommend the Oysters Rockefeller and the crab cakes.

Boathouse at Short Pump mall, does a good job with their drinks, service and food. Do not mind visiting again. Great mohitos!! Service was good and on top of everything.

I would like to say it was not the best experience I have had. The oysters were rocky and not good flavor. Salmon dinner was overcooked, and Brussel spouts were burnt. The dessert was the best part. As for service, it took over an hour to get dinner. I will say this the manager and the bartender did make up for all it. Huge shout out to the both of you. Thank you for making a bad experience to wanting to come back again for a second chance.

Visited on a Thursday evening. The ambiance was great, but overall the experience was a bit mediocre. When our drinks arrived, there was an insect (maybe a fruit fly) in one of them, which was disappointing. We ordered the Chilled Seafood Tray — the oysters were fresh and tasty, though a little grainy. The highlight of the meal was the Boathouse Wedge Salad, which was crisp and flavorful, and helped balance out the seafood taste and aroma. Good atmosphere, but service and attention to detail could definitely be improved.

I’ve been to this restaurant on numerous occasions. I do enjoy their happy hour and appetizers, however I visited on Christmas Eve for a nice dinner and was very disappointed. Every so often, on special occasions I like to treat myself to a filet mignon. I ordered a filet, along with my guest and they tried to serve us a sirloin steak instead. I’m no meat expert, but this steak was definitely not a filet. The waitress seemed insulted when we called them out on it and that the steak was inedible due to burnt taste. Waitress was decent but definitely didn’t provide excellent customer service. Overall, not impressed with their main dishes, but again do enjoy their apps and happy hour

Went here with my son and ended up with a moldy appetizer. I ate the price of bread next to this one before I noticed! At first I thought it was charred, but the mold was fuzzy. Management offered a gift card, but I don’t see myself going back. So disappointed.
