Place is fantastic and great food and really nice people, clean environment 😁
This place is a GEM. The prices are amazing and the portions are even better. Everytime I eat here I’m satisfied with my belly, pockets, and experience. It’s always SO CLEAN, the food is great, and they price for it keeps you wishing they never/ close! 100/10
I order their Tripe soup it was very good I only eish I ordered the large instead of the cup. It comes with rice which I didn't want but I took it anyways and it turned out to be some of the best rice I've tasted outsode of my mother in laws so it was a win
Oh my goodness i love this place. Cute and small but inviting. The food is amazing. I had stew chicken with rice and beans and a side salad. So freaking amazing i could kiss the chefs but i am married lol
The food is delicioso.. they have been in the neighborhood many years now... Everything is always fresh so many choices... I hadn't been there in a quite awhile.. but when I went there yesterday I chose the black beans and rice / yellow rice and baked chicken😋 with the side of plantains.. They was a slight increase in the prices but not to noticeable its definitely worth it . I will take a picture the next time because before I know it I started eating and it was too late 😁
WOW!!! Five stars is not enough to rate how delicious their food is? We feel they have the best Dominican cuisine(IMO "cuisine" means it's made with more TLC and tastes even better!)and my husband was very happy with the service when he went there and brought our food back home? He said the entire restaurant is immaculate cleanliness-wise, all those things I said above are important when having a successful establishment in the food world. I say that because not every place is like D'Mangu, those places are the extreme opposite! U can tell who loves and enjoys cooking when u taste it in the dishes they prepare? ❤🥘🥗🍲🍛
Foods delicious. Def more of a takeout spot. You will never go wrong with rice and beans with with beef or steak. Also they have amazing homemade hot sauce
I always get baked chicken (extra gravy)😋, yellow rice, & beans. Also love their pulled pork.
Me encanta Meatballs! I just started going there 2 weeks ago. The only downfall are they don't deliver nor offer Door Dash or Grub hub. The area isn't the best so be careful. They cook chuletas pero tiene que call ahead which no me gusta because when I decide to go it's a no-brainer and I just show up. If they cook prior and put it under the light, they're guaranteed to sell like hot cakes! One of the associates is very nice! Her customer service is on point. The other 2... hmm could learn from the other lady pero no son malas just you know... I recommend the meatballs!
I wanted to take my girlfriend for an Hispanic culinary experience in Rochester. Mondays are ALWAYS a bad day to this, however, because many of the “go to” restaurants are closed (Just like the 1970s song by the Carpenters, “Rainy days and Mondays always get me down”). That being said, I found an interesting seeming place called D’Mangu, a Dominican-style restaurant with pictures showing their food plated on real plates (somewhat of a requirement when I’m trying to impress someone). I knew the food was going to be served “buffet” style and I was good with that as there would be no wait (a plus if I have the day planned out). There was plenty of parking as my car was the only one in the small lot, and it was off the street which was also good. The establishment actually looked like it was inside a home and the entrance threw me off for a second because it was actually located on the side of the building and not the front of it. My girlfriend was excited because when she heard the name D’Mangu, she wanted to try out their Mangu. It was definitely a disappointment when we found out that Mangu was not served at a place called D’Mangu. My girlfriend decided to have the braised pork with white rice and beans, and I opted for the peril with yellow rice and beans. While the meat was tender and not dry, it didn’t really have that Umami that I was expecting. It also wasn’t served on plates but, rather, clam shells for take-out style. We had both ordered the small portion which seems enough to satisfy our appetites, but it was very messy and, no matter how hard we tried, we couldn’t keep from making a mess on the table. Thankfully, my date was more interested in making conversation than what was happening at the restaurant. Overall, the experience was about average, neither good nor bad. I wouldn’t necessarily try this particular restaurant again but I can say that I would try the name brand at the other location on Portland before dismissing it altogether. It’s decent for food on the fly and (fortunately or unfortunately?) there was no waiting line to obtain a meal.
I'm Dominican-American and was visiting Rochester. I was excited to find a Dominican restaurant, but sadly I was not impressed with the menu or the cuisine. I feel I need to give them a 2nd chance though, there was a snowstorm that day, and it was late near closing time. I will change my review if the next visit is better. 😁
Not sure what happen to the quality of food a few years ago eveything was so fresh and good. Now it’s almost seems as if the food is reheated and served especially the rice. The rice is now hard and crunchy. You have to know your clientele.. a lot of Blk folks come in there we do not like the bottom of the pot crunchy rice. But I understand in their culture that bottom of the pot crunchy rice is good too them. PLEASE CHANGE THE RICE OR GIVE THE OPTION TO NOT HAVE CRUNCHY RICE
The food and atmosphere was good. But charging an automatic gratuity for two people!? I was actually going to give them more money, but not after that. What a terrible policy lol. Don't go here.
Not sure if they gave me chicken/ rice that had been sitting out for a while but the little chicken they did have gave me terrible food poisoning. They also had very little food there to be an hour before they closed.
This is my second time trying this place. I did NOT enjoy my food or the service my first time, but I believe we all have bad days and I wanted to give them a second chance. Nope! I should have passed right by and went to Sobrinos! The person behind the counter clearly doesn’t want to be there! She tossed my food in the container so fast and SLOPPY that she didn’t listen to my order. The rice was crunchy and tasteless and the meat was so dry and hard I thought I would chip a tooth! This place is ridiculous and should just close down permanently! Go to Sobrinos on Clinton & Norton….They Got You!! About to call and request a refund.
Some of the food is okay my granddaughter loves the spot but they could take more time and properly clean the meats on 2 too many occasions we have found hairs on our meat and some times the white rice is to crunchy so we don’t order it anymore last but not least change the time because some of us do work and it be after 5pm when we can make it there and they closed buy 6 when it says closed at 7pm 🙄
No posted menu/prices, no food on display except white rice, I was told stew pork steak and bake chicken was available but it wasn’t on display. Ordered the bake chicken and white rice and beans just as I suspected the chicken was dried out stale and hard as a brick the rice had hard pieces of rice (like the bottom of the pot) never again this is the second time I was disappointed with the food here! I spent $16 on trash
This was by far the worst Spanish food I have ever had!! Ugh 😩 just a waste o f time and money! I should have just cooked!! The service is poor attitude on the person is horrible and the food is terrible 😣
Horrible customer service. The woman preparing the plate didn't seem like she wanted to be there. I got to the register and wanted to use a gift card issued by the restaurant. She told me I could only redeem it when the manager is there. She wouldn't tell me when that was. So I couldn't use the gift card and ended up having to pay our of my pocket. They should have that policy posted.
