Always worth the wait! They don’t take reservations so get there early or get there late. But there’s a reason why this place is always so packed. The food is amazing and they rotate several dishes in and out seasonally. Which means you can something new every time you go. I haven’t had a single bad (or even mediocre) meal here in the last 5 years. But the fish dish is always the absolute best. And if you like Negronis, Brett makes the best Negroni I’ve ever had, in my humble opinion. Plus, they have one of the best beer selections on tap, almost all local NorCal brews. We come for the food but stay for the amazing people that make up Chef’s Table!!
Chef’s Table is truly our favorite place! We get here 3-4 times a year, and each time is as amazing or better than the previous time. Great food and casual environment. They have a fun selection of cocktails as well as great selection of craft beer and wine. We most recently had two wonderful entrees. My wife had the Thai shrimp curry, and I had the Cajun rubbed pork chop (could be the best meal I’ve ever had at Chef’s Table). Already looking forward to our next time at Chef’s Table!! 😋
My husband and I visited The Chef’s Table for lunch today as part of our day date after a movie, and we were blown away by the entire experience. From the moment we walked in, the service was absolutely spectacular. Our server asked if it was our first time, and after we said yes, he took the time to share a bit of the restaurant’s background — it’s family owned and operated, which instantly gave it a warm, welcoming feel. He offered some great menu recommendations, and while he was attentive and friendly throughout, he also gave us space to relax and enjoy our meal. And the food… wow. We started with the pastrami Reuben egg rolls — crispy on the outside with tender, flavorful meat on the inside, paired with a delicious dipping sauce. I ordered the T.C.T Peach Burger, and it was a total standout. Perfectly seasoned, juicy, and packed with fresh ingredients. My husband had the smoked prime rib French dip, which he couldn’t stop raving about. We also shared a side of classic beer-battered fries, which were golden, crispy, and addictive. Every bite felt thoughtful and well-crafted. You can truly tell the care that goes into both the food and the service. We’re already looking forward to our next visit — this place is a new favorite!
Dining at The Chef's Table was an exceptional experience. The menu is thoughtfully curated and bursting with flavors that showcase the chef's skill and creativity. While the restaurant may be on the pricier side, the quality and professionalism of the food and service more than justifies the cost. Every dish was a culinary delight, but the scallops and stroganoff were truly standout dishes that left a lasting impression. For anyone seeking a memorable dining experience, the chef's table is a must-visit destination.
Food and service was phenomenal we stopped here just on a whim and I'm definitely glad we did I got the filet mignon and it didn't disappoint.
It was our first time at The Chef’s Table… and what a little gem of a place. We had the Reuben rolls for an app, and it did not disappoint. Very good! For dinner we had the Shrimp Curry and Butternut Squash Risotto. The curry was a fantastic choice, I would highly recommend. The risotto was on the bland side, but overall it was good. The service was outstanding, very attentive and friendly. Kudos to the management for running a tight ship and cheers to the staff for an awesome job!
Completely and utterly amazing! The staff addressed us as friends and had a great sense of humor. The person that appeared to be the owner/person in charge was very involved and was a waiter for the night and seemed professional and nice to his employees. My wife and I shared the peanut butter and jelly hamburger off of the secret menu and had a side of their famous pesto fries. My wife also got the Hawaiian Mule and was blown away by how vivid the flavor was! I know that we will both be craving it all the way from Grass Valley. This will definitely be our date night spot because of how welcomed we felt! They handled the people waiting in a very timely manner and there was an EXTREMELY long line.
We weren't confident about the food when we entered the room. It looks like a dive bar, but serves delicious high end food! We're very pleased we stumbled on this gem! The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable. The drinks yummy! We'll be back for sure! P.s all my drinks look the same, but they're totally different. I just love lemon lol. Also love scallops, so dishes look the same too lol!
This place was great! I went there for the first time and wasn't disappointed. The staff was friendly, the drinks were satisfying and the food was delicious. We had the Reuben Egg Rolls, the Corn off the Cobb, Oyster Shooters, and Pesto Fries for our apps. For dinner we had the Thai Shrimp Curry, Fried Chicken and steak. Nothing disappointed and we didn't leave anything left on our plates. So good!
Update 03/28/24 - Back at it again and this time forced ourselves NOT to go with our favorites. Everything was ridiculously good — music, service, food. Food shoved in our face: The "Southern Fried Mary's Chicken" with bacon gravy, baby carrots, and garlic mashed potatoes has been on the menu for years and was tasty but what stole the show was this insanely good "Local Beet Salad". Doesn't sound like anything exciting, right? Wrong. I will be ordering this every time we go here in the future. Great flavors, well balanced, seriously good! Update 07/20/23 - went back and again had an outstanding time. Great service, creative and tasty food, good music. Besides grabbing the Reuben-style egg rolls again, this time we snagged their sugar rimmed cocktail "White Peach Bliss". Perfect balance of flavors — easy to order a few of these. Also tried their "Peach & Plum Corn Shortbread" with ice cream for dessert. So good...highly recommend. Previous review: Went in for lunch and had a great time. Good music, super friendly staff (even the staff that were not our server asked how we are doing and checked on food/beverages), and plate lickingly good food. I could eat a whole plate of those Reuben-styled eggrolls and the hamburger with a slice of brie and the bacon/fig/red onion jam is one of the best I have had at a restaurant in a long time. Pair that up with the Mumbo Jumbo IPA and it was a very good day. Absolutely going back.
This place is always consistently great! Friendly service and excellent food. If you sit at the counter, it's entertaining to watch them cook. They also have a great selection of rotating beers.
Came in for dinner on a Saturday at 5:30 and it was busy, got even busier after we were seated at the bar looking at where they were cooking. The food is excellent and they are busy because it is really very good. Staff are friendly and have a great sense of humor. It was a great date night experience, highly recommend.
Amazing food. Amazing beer and amazing service. We got lucky to get in at an off hour and avoid the long wait time. But it would totally be worth it. Our server Brahm was A1 and brought me some of the chef’s secret scorpion pepper hot sauce with my risotto. Don’t forget to try the pesto fries. An all time favorite!
My son picked out this restaurant, and I think he did a great job. I wasn't expecting the atmosphere; it's more of a bar feel with a few tables along the sides, but aside from that, the experience was amazing and we'll definitely be back to try more items on the menu. I ordered the short rib and my son ordered shrimp and grits and the pesto fries. He's a little picky but he thoroughly enjoyed everything! We "shared" the brownie dessert, but next time, I'm definitely getting my own because my child is very greedy. Staff was amazing and made us feel very welcome. Highly recommend!!
Great food and drinks, changing menu, friendly staff and great service! Love this place. Lots of parking. Must try. Try the oyster shooters!
Best food I have had in a very long time. WORTH THE EXPENSE!
This place is a whole vibe. First off, the food is INCREDIBLE! You just know it’s cooked with love. When you enter and take a seat, everybody comes by to say hi. One guy even gives his customers a hug when they leave and it’s super heartwarming. There’s old school music going- Al Green, Bill Weathers, ect. The strange thing is, They are able to pull off this amazing enterprise with an all male staff! There are zero women working in this place! There’s art on the walls. If you’re returning, everyone recognizes you and treats you like your family when you walk in. I highly recommend the shrimp and grits and the risotto. You also HAVE to try the Pastrami Reuben rolls they are sooo yummy! 3 thumbs up 10 stars across the board DEFINITELY will return❤️
Found this GEM for a date night before a concert at Thunder Valley Casino. WOW. PHENOMENAL. INCREDIBLE. DELICIOUS. We showed up just in time and were able to get seated immediately, but very shortly after we were seated, a wait list was formed of 30-45 minutes. It's absolutely worth the wait! We had the pesto fries and Brussel sprouts for apps, both incredibly delicious. I had the filet, and my wife had a pumpkin risotto with prawns. Again, wow! Both PHENOMENAL! Local beers on tap were a nice cap, and being able to taste a little tester of one we were unsure on was a nice plus. Our waiter was attentive even in an incredibly busy environment pre concert. Two other people also checked in on us at various times. Our food came out correctly and in a timely manner. This place is approximately 2 hours from my home, and I will definitely be back. I can't not recommend enough. Food, service, and atmosphere all get 10 stars.
First time here by recommendation. Service was great. We got there right when they opened and they started to get busy. Even though it was one waiter working both sides, he made sure to still check on our table and throw in some jokes and humor. Small but I like it. Food was delicious. I had hungry eyes cause I wanted more than one thing from their menu. I got the braised short ribs, which was savory and flavorful. The meat was tender and came apart perfectly. Normally don't get dessert but was recommended the bread pudding from a guest sitting next to our table. Our waiter also recommended it. It was sooo good. Sweet but not too sweet. The frosting paired well with it.
A place so good, I had to review it twice! Seriously, if you like amazing local food, run by local people, with an amazing staff… there is no place else. With customer service being, let’s just say not what it used to be, The Chefs Table completely proves it still exists. Every staff member of their team is courteous, attentive, fun and funny, engaging and just downright awesome! The food, well, continues to just be top notch with different flavors and menu items. Tonight, our party enjoyed their insanely delicious pastrami egg rolls (these alone are worth a visit), pasta fries, and beet salad to start. While I didn’t personally eat any of the beet salad, the lack of anything left on the plate says it all. Their pesto fries at this point should receive too culinary honors… and yes, I know I’m talking about French fries! For entrees, we had the braised short rib and mushroom stroganoff, salmon, carnitas tacos and the green chili tacos. I ate the stroganoff, which is hands down the best I’ve ever had. The beef… it’s an experience and the delicious mushrooms, perfect amount of sauce and noodles to crave! It’s usually busy here, so come hungry and prepared to wait for a table… but let that be the proof, everything is worth it here! Enjoy!
I had no idea that the former sommelier from the French Laundry in Yountville opened a trendy restaurant literally in my backyard. The Reuben egroll was amazing, and the fried chicken and filet were perfection. It is worth waiting in line 20 minutes. Highly recommend for a causual night out with drinks. Some of the items rotate on and off the menu so there is always something new to try.
My husband and I have been to Chefs table several times. It's also been a restaurant we like to bring out of town guests. We always enjoy the food. His favorite is the fried chicken and I like the Thai shrimp. We recently ordered the pesto fries and they were amazing. We really haven't had anything we haven't liked.
Worth the wait. Came here at about 630 on a Friday night. Waited 25 minutes for a seat. Tried the jalapeño blackberry margarita, blood orange mule and a beer. The cocktails were delicious and filled with flavor. Ordered the burger that has grilled peach on it..At first I was skeptical but wow this burger was amazing. The food is delicious and this place offers a wonderful drink menu including local rotating beers on tap. We will definitely return.
My husband and I decided to check this place out on our way home and I'm so glad we did. The food and service were both fantastic. They also have a great selection of beers on tap and some delicious seasonal cocktails. My favorites were the Reuben egg rolls and the French dip sandwich. The bacon brownie was very bacon-y (which we enjoyed) and the bread pudding was wetter than expected but had great flavor. The menu changes frequently and we can't wait for our next visit!
It was fantastic. So glad we were finally able to get in. Can't wait to go again. Pesto fries are bomb.
A Peanut Butter and Jelly Burger? Are you kidding me? Love it. Been coming here for a few years now. I almost always get the PB&J Burger and my wife always gets the Fried Chicken. Not only is the food amazing, but the staff is great. They make it such a fun environment. But to get in on a weekend night, be sure to reserve a table a few weeks in advance. It's worth it! And don't forget to order the Pesto Fries.
We went here at the advice of some coworkers and we now understand why this spot is so popular! Definitely will be back, YUM! The Irish car bomb bread pudding is pictured, excellent desert to finish off an amazing meal.
This was a GREAT experience - we sat at the counter and it was awesome! Everyone was so nice, helpful and attentive, and the food was DELICIOUS (and as soon as it's plated they hand it to you, your food doesn't wait under a lamp ever!) We WILL be back, especially for those pesto fries!
Absolutely fabulous dining experience at The Chef’s Table in Rocklin! We popped in for dinner and wow—this place never misses. I ordered the sole, and while it came with a little more butter than I usually go for, the flavor was still rich and delicious. The real surprise star? The beet salad. I could’ve eaten an entire mixing bowl of it. SO good. My husband went full comfort-gourmet with the hamburger topped with brie and fig jam, and let me tell you… that combo is pure magic. Sweet, savory, melty—dangerously addictive. Cocktails? Always on point. Their bartenders know how to balance flavor, and I’m a loyal fan of their Chenin Blanc. The oyster shooter is also a must-try if you’re feeling fun. And listen… if you’re adventurous, grab the peanut butter and jelly hamburger. Sounds crazy, tastes shockingly amazing. The Chef’s Table continues to be one of our go-to spots—creative dishes, great drinks, and that cozy neighborhood feel that keeps us coming back. Highly recommend!
-wow this place is a 10 out of 5 keep local businesses alive best food i’ve ever had if you go to this area get your butt here and early or you’ll wait a long time no reservations. Get that PBJ burger on the secret menu.
I stopped in for lunch and was welcomed in straight away by the friendly bartender. I sat at the bar since I was by myself and the vibe was super comfortable. I only had water because I was still in work hours but the beer menu and cocktail menu were super tempting. I loved the food menu and went with the burger which was a seasonal bacon fig burger which was phenomenal. I used the bathroom to wash my hands and it’s worth noting the bathroom was clean and everything was stocked. Definitely will return and highly recommend you check this place out.
Our favorite place to hang, eat, and celebrate! All the food is consistently amazing. We order everything - and it is always awesome. Difficult to pick a favorite. The menu changes seasonally - and they are always changing the menu up with new things to try!
The tacos were amazing! Surprisingly the burger with peanut butter and jelly spread was pretty good too but my favorite would be the tacos! Very filling and delicious.
Little place with a big food heart. Like a food lovers folklore. We had the French dip tomato salad, stuffed avacado and bacon brownie. My only complaint was that I was too full to eat more than a bite of brownie and we lived too far away to take it home with us!
Staff were excellent, and the food was even better. Craft beers were cold and delicious and served with great smiles and positivity. I ordered the Korean bbq braised short rib, which was fantastic. Tender, falling apart on the plate. Pesto fries as a starter was an excellent move too. Only trouble was getting seating for 6, but we chose to sit at the bar instead of wait. Otherwise, all fantastic!
Absolutely amazing food and phenomenal service. Everyone is so attentive and personable. The food is so delicious! One of the best meals we have had in awhile. Cannot say enough good things. Absolutely recommend!
Absolutely delicious food, seasonal menu. They were luckily able to accompany a large party as a walk-in (they take no reservations) and we had a great evening!
Real food real people What else can we say. The drinks are the best bar none! When they have the scallops they out do Ella’s. Consistently great! The peanut butter burger (secret menu) is incredible! Could go on and on but this is our go to. When we mention this to others if they’ve been they already love it.
We had a wonderful meal. We had the pesto fries, and beet salad to start. For dinner, I had the salmon and my friend had the special, which was the Osso Buco. Everything was delicious and it was a nice relaxing atmosphere. The waiter was friendly, helpful and attentive. We will definitely come back again and again. .
Food was good. Servers were great. Very attentive. Pastrami Rueben Egg Rolls were tasty but salty. Prime Rib French Dip was good. The dessert was awesome.
Fun spot filled with locals. The Jalepeno Blackberry Margarita was perfection. The service exceptional.
Tried the P&J Cheeseburger. Was pretty good, tasted just how you think it would taste. Also ordered the pesto fries. The burger was pretty filling itself so I couldn't finish the fries. It was a bit pricey but pretty good if you want to splurge every now and then.
I've been here a couple times and I can say they are pretty consistent whether sitting at the bar or a table. Food is fresh with flavor and the beer recommendations were great. I had the stuffed avocado and salmon appetizers which were both good especially the avocado. The Salmon was served with a hair on the plate clearly not my own but it was removed and replaced with no issue which was good. I also had the grilled Piedmontese filet with potatos and asparagus which was absolutely delicious! My filet was cooked just as I ordered it and the sides with sauces garnishes were paired so well. The restaurant was very busy but organized and handled very well. Wait times were reasonable and service was good. I recommend eating here if you want a good experience with great food and huge beer/drink selection. Restaurant including restroom was clean and operational and staff is engaging.
Food wasn't the best but it was a pretty chill place good vibes. Out server was amazing.
This is more of a bar than a restaurant with a good selection of alcohol drinks. The food was decent. The cheese plate was not bad. The sea bass was pretty good. The lemonade was from the fountain and not fresh, so it was returned and not taken out of the bill. The prices were a bit higher than a bargain. No ladies working here, so it's a bit rough here and there.
Inside of restaurant has an elegant appeal and was bustling with people. There is a bar in the middle. An eating area more bar/pub style on the right and a more formal diner area on the left. The bathrooms are clean and overall service was nice. The food however was not as flavorful as hoped. Bland lobster mac, overly greasy Shrimp and Grits, and a mediocre dish with pork and apple confit. The pork itself was wonderfully tender and of all dishes had the best flavor. Only issue was the pork was almost undercooked in texture. We also had ordered a burger for a child in which was great size and well made.
We came here knowing they don't take reservations, so we were prepared to wait. What we didn't expect that there was no organized system to put your name down on a wait list or signs showing you where to go to leave your info. Everyone is crowded around a cramped waiting area hoping that a party that arrives after you doesn't get their name on the list before you. Bar counter is not first-come, first-serve unlike most places. Drinks here are delicious! We really enjoyed the ones we got. The food here is so-so. Call me a food snob, but I was not impressed with all the high reviews for the food. What really left a bad taste in our mouths was that we had to wait over half an hour after we finished our appetizer to get our main course. Literally the table next to us were seated after we were and finished their meal and left before we even got our entrees. It was ridiculous. I think someone may have forgotten to put the ticket in for our food, but no apologies were given for how long we had to wait. We will not be back.
Food was good, but nothing spectacular. Service was disappointing. While celebrating our anniversary, we were asked to move from our table to the bar after ordering dessert so they could seat other guests. Nothing was offered to make up for it, which made it clear they prioritize table turnover over the dining experience.
Not impressed. The food was not great. You’d think for the price you’re paying the burger patty would not be frozen. Service wasn’t great either. No one greeted you and everyone tried to avoid eye contact. No one took our order. We had to wave them down. Will not return. Don’t understand the rave reviews.
We’ve always had a good experience at The Chefs Table until tonight. We arrived early at 5:30pm and were told it would be 1:15-1:30 minute weight. We decided to stay since they are always busy. They seated us in the quoted time which is acceptable and the host is great at getting drinks etc. pretty typical so far. When we finally got seated at about 7:00 our waiter came and took our order, pretty typical stuff. We sat and waited for quite some time and we never got our drinks and our waiter never checked on us in that time frame. Finally we were able to get his attention and asked for our drinks and he responded “oh, they should have brought those”. He walked away and a few minutes later returned and asked what we had ordered. At this point I suspected our waiter had not entered our order. When he finally dropped off our drinks I asked what the ETA of our food would be and he said he would check. When he came back he said “I tried to ask and they were having none of it”. I’m not sure what kind of answer that was but, it certainly didn’t help us. He left and we waited longer. I flagged down the host and explained that we had been waiting a very long time for our food and felt like they hadn’t put in our order. He said he would check and walked away. He came back a short time later and said that there was only one person working the grill and that he was inundated with orders and since I had ordered a grill item, that was the delay. He then assured us we were next. We waited for quite some time and still no food. At this point our waiter had still not checked on us and we hadn’t received any food. I was nearing the point of walking out of the restaurant at this point since we had waited at our table well over an hour and still had not received any food. At this point the food finally came out. Our food was very good as it always is. But the service was so different than we have ever experienced here. We understand that places get busy or mistakes happen and it’s how you handle those times that sets your business apart. I believe they didn’t put our order in. When your drinks don’t arrive from the bar which otherwise got drinks out very quickly when they were way busier indicates that there was something out of the ordinary. When our food didn’t come out in 20-30 minutes, the waiter should have checked. Instead he acted like the they couldn’t be bothered. When they noticed we didn’t have food or drinks there were no conciliatory efforts. Nobody said “the kitchen is really backed up, can I offer an appetizer or would you like something else”. When we complained to the waiter and the host, they didn’t offer the menu so we could order something. We walked in at 5:30pm and didn’t see any food until after 8pm. The 1:30 minute wait was something we chose to accept but the 1:20 minutes sitting at a table waiting for food while the waiter completely ignored us is unacceptable. The food is amazing and generally the staff is amazing but something went wrong today. No one took ownership of that fact. There was no communication about the delay, there were no conciliatory gestures respecting my time waiting patiently. We weren’t loud or rude, we were patient. It’s going to be very hard to go back after this evening’s experience.
