Golden Koi Buffet is one of the restaurants I have visited often, especially during my childhood. The food is alright, sometimes they easily run out of food, but nonetheless, the food is decent for a Chinese buffet. The customer service and atmosphere is often very peaceful and you can often be able to eat quietly. A while ago, I went there with my family and friends the day after my 18th birthday and high school graduation. Overall, a very good Chinese buffet to visit at Placer County. 💛
Discovering a hidden gem in Rocklin: Golden Koi Buffet! This buffet has it all! Plenty of parking and an easy-to-find location right in the heart of the plaza. Perfect for families looking to enjoy delicious Asian cuisine at affordable prices! Highlights from my visit: - Mongolian BBQ: 10/10 - Crabs: 10/10 - Sweet & Sour Soup: 10/10 - Bun & Bao: 10/10 - Eggplant Tofu: 10/10 Every dish is packed with flavor, and I was never disappointed! The cozy and clean atmosphere added to our experience, although a little extra attention to the tables would have been great. The accessible and spacious bathrooms are a plus! If you're in the mood for a fantastic buffet, definitely check out Golden Koi Buffet! You won't regret it!
Many amazing varieties from crab legs, duck, salmon, sushi variety, ribs, cooked to order steaks, shrimp, mango jello great, pork buns, so much, ice cream cones, salad it was all great!!👍 👏🏽 Servers pleasant and timely with drinks, kids prices reasonable too, so many chicken styles!! All 4 of us loved every bit! On I’d give a 4.9 because pumpkin bread didn’t taste like pumpkin no big deal ! Thank you GKB
As any good buffet customers knows, get here early, best is 11am opening, so the food is the freshest and you get to be the one to dig in first to the food and it's not all messed up yet. The prices have gone up, but it's still worth the lunch price of $16.99. If you're over 60 years old, ask for the senior discount. Lunch is $14.99 including the roast duck! Cause what other buffet for that price will your get crab, prawns and fish and all the other tasty food? My fave here is actually the pork spare ribs, cooked Chinese style. Yep, Chinese make some really good ribs and even the chicken wings are the best so crispy and tasty! Ribs and fried chicken! The south don't have nothin on the Chinese cooks! All the other normal American Chinese favorites are here as well. The roast duck is pretty good for buffet duck, and for this price you can't beat that! There's general chicken, sweet and sour pork, won ton soup and even French fries! There's a Mongolian grill section too and at dinner they have NY steak to grill! Dinner price is almost $10 bucks more, so I'll stick to lunch as the better value.
This was the first time my husband and I had eaten here. We loved the variety of food. The service was friendly. The atmosphere 👌🏼 we will be returning soon. 5 stars all the way ✨️
My visit here today was great I was in the area so it was nice, to be able to pop in right after stopping at my chiropractor. The location is very nice and has a huge amount of choices around the buffet counters plus they have desert, and salad if that's how you'd like to start off but there no right or wrong. Overall the price was reasonable, food perfect temp, all nice and fresh and well displayed for endless plate building for whatever your feeling like, Thank you working staff and employees for making this a awesome 1st visit to the location!!

Food is good and better than any other Chinese buffets. This one makes other buffets put to a shame, Chinese buffet that is. Cost of entry is not bad and even in a holiday price.
As a long time customer of golden koi over the years, I will say that this place has maintained its consistency in regards to not only its food but cleanliness. Some stuff I will add that could be looked into is 1) the seating next to the windows tend to get really hot especially in the 110 degree weather. 2) the rib eye steak has gone down in quality over the years, I remember back in 2015 when it was nice and bright red, with much less fat in it, now it’s kind of more aged looking and so forth But everything else checks out and honestly these two cons won’t stop me from returning, just some minor advice I thought I’d throw in!
Twas my first time at Golden Koi. We arrived there past 2 pm. and didn't know until we paid for the dinner price. That was odd!! It was a difference of $6.00 if lunch time. The food was good, i love the grill the most. You will have to put all the spices ans ingredients you want and give it to the cook. I just have a couple of spices but it turned out really tasty, I was impressed, so I gave him a tip! Worth coming back!

Pretty happy decision to eat there. Looked at the food before deciding and about 8/10 things looked pretty fresh. This was on a Thursday evening so maybe not the most busy time. At least not very busy when we were there. I imagine weekends to be busier. This place is pretty big. Could seat many people if needed. Food was good and I think it's cool they have soft serve and regular ice cream. Mostly pretty typical Asian buffet stuff with a few surprises. The Mei Fun was nice! Thin little rice noodles with a simple and warm flavor. I might come back if I'm in the area and looking for a buffet again. Sushi wasn't great here but most non sushi buffets that offer it generally meet a low expectation for that. Solid 4 stars. Service was friendly too! Maybe even more so than most buffets. I'll give them credit there. 5 stars if the sushi were better and more of the food items were fresh. But the price is quite good for what you're getting. Maybe it's tough for buffets to compete at this price range though because Thunder Valley does a buffet that is bigger and about the same price for dinner on weekdays. Between the two, I'd have to give it to thunder but for the sake of variety I'd probably come here from time to time if I frequented this area a lot more.

It was alright. Standard Chinese buffet fare. Selection is good. Flavors are okay. Can be hit or miss. My most recent visit was a miss. The crab and other dishes weren't as fresh and the sushi was just no. One of the rolls I tried was literally an egg roll wrapped in rice and seaweed.
This is just another Chinese buffet. There’s a lot of food, quality is average, but it’s exactly what you’d expect from this type of place. Nothing here is exceptional, but nothing is bad either. When I’m in the mood for basic Chinese food with variety, this place does the job. I stop by every now and then and leave satisfied.

Me and our friends went to this Chinese buffet restaurant last Sunday (9/28/25) and I was kind of disappointed as some of the dishes were salty and some dishes displace were not appetizing at all. The hibachi and sushi sections should be improved! Yum buffet at Florin Road in South Sacramento is much better than this place! And this is honest and unbiased review!
New UPDATE: Golden Koi now is serving roast duck all day and the prices is the same. Bad news is the duck isn't that great. It's duck all right, but it just doesn't taste like real roast duck like say from 99 Ranch. It's missing the roast duck flavor. It's just OK, and I wouldn't get too excited. I was excited till I tasted it. But the rest of the food here is still very good. The price for lunch now is $15.99. Last review was 4 years ago below. UPDATE! The Koi Buffet is now open again! It's all the same great food as before. I just can't see the negative reviews here, cause service is great and the place is clean. The food is all fresh if you get here at a reasonable time. Best time is when they open! Fresh food and nobody has picked over all the food yet! I gotta go back for those wings and ribs! Closed for now due to the virus thing, but I really can't wait till it opens again! This is the best buffet in the area for a reasonable price. It's under new management so it cleaner than before and the service is perfect. The food is a generous selection of Chinese foods that you don't normally see at most buffets. What I really like are the fried chicken wings and the ribs! Yeah Chinese do the best Chicken and Ribs! They even have french fries here, just in case you don't want Chinese food. I've always found the food hot and fresh, but do go 1/2 hr before closing and expect all fresh food just for you, it won't happen. Go at opening 11am! I want this place to open again!
Great location. Good customer service. Food quality is 7/10. They offer variety of Chinese fried food but not so many choice of seafood. Sushi is just fine 6/10. Baked scallop is funny because it’s only shredded imitation crab, mayonnaise and corn. I wish they can pay more attention to the toilet cleanliness.

They charged for our 3 year old and when asked about it they said its ok and pushed the check at me. If they advertise under 5 is free, don't charge. He barely ate and we didn't waste what he didn't eat. Not an honest experience and we think the good times here are long gone. The food is awful since a year ago and they seem to be desperate to take money ignoring their own policy. Extremely poor management has ruined this place.
Came here for a birthday and I haven't been here in 4 years. Their food was bomb then but this time things were different. dishes were dirty (found left over orange peel on one plate and hair on another) utensils had leftover food on them still (very greasy like it wasn't washed). The food was very mid and dry. I'm also disappointed in the staff, there were two people that heavily smelled of marijuana and it was worse than BO. Staff should have turned them away. Ruined the whole experience. Probably won't come back here without major changes.
I use to really like this place. It's gone to hell. The food was 2 days old tasting. The crab was the worse! The crab never snapped when shelling it. It bent. When you got the meat out it was all shrunken and old looking. The ribs were 99% fat! This place went downhill and for 29 bucks...tip included....... Very very disappointed.
