The food is EXCELLENT and the service the great which is why we're willing to drive from Roseville to mid town for these awesome potstickers. Of course if we are in the area, it's a no brainer, it's our go to spot.
The dumplings were phenomenal. The pork vegetable dumplings dipping sauce is a mix of flavors: tangy, salty and sweet. The sweet'n'sour sauce is tangy from the vinegar and it tastes how it all should. The dandan noodles were incredible and definitely a must. We ordered Xiao long Bao, pork and vegetable dumplings, cream cheese wontons and dandan noodles for $45, which was a lot of food. We were excited and actually wanted to try more but held back. It was even better than I could have hoped for. Definitely give it a try, I'm getting some for dinner as well 🍜
This was our first visit to Dumpling House and my family and I were very impressed. The food came out steaming and tasted fantastic. To be even more Covid-friendly it was served in to-go containers which made taking our leftovers home so convenient! We ordered the kimchi and pork dumpling, pork and chive pot sticker, and the BBQ pork Bao. Of the three entries my favorite was the bao, but I would gladly get all three again. We also ordered the garlic broccoli as a side since it was a 'Chef's Choice'. The broccoli was also super good. Definitely check this place out after you find parking.
This place is really fresh and delicious. The dumplings and bao came in generous portions with good prices. I also had passion fruit tea with boba and it was really amazing also. I was surprised by how good it was. I absolutely will be coming back!
That was the best food I have ever had. I felt at home right when I walked in and enjoyed the small family restaurant feel. The chive pork dumpling was insane and the BBQ pork buns were so good! The staff was kind and so attentive! I have a new favorite restaurant and I cannot wait to go back.
Amazing food and authentic environment. Don't bring your stuck up ahh here complaining, just enjoy the experience
An amazing place with amazing food. The pot stickers were beautifully made and crispy. Juicy inside with tasty meat and it's better with the chili oil. Food came out fast and the service was top notch. The place reminded me of a Ukrainian cafeteria which was nice for me. Nice and cheap so definitely try this spot if you are looking for dumplings or pot stickers.
This place was amazing! Everything was so fresh and the food was so good. We ordered multiple plates and shared and glad I did cause I tried things I normally would not have tried. Their Boa and XLB dumplings were fantastic!. The owner and worker were so nice and attentive. Definitely will be back.
The storefront is unassuming, but the food is amazing. I am vegetarian and usually the options at dumpling houses are really limited, but they have a great selection! I had the veggie bao buns (I have always been SO envious of pork bao buns, so I was so excited to try these) My friend had the pork and chive dumplings (I think?) and she really liked them too. We shared an order of veggie potstickers which we agreed were super tasty. They are generous portions and a great price— between the two of us, we couldn’t finish the three things we ordered and both had leftovers for the next day. This is great lunch spot for when you want something good, filling, and don’t want to pay midtown prices.
Tasty and plentiful portions, great service, and a pleasant environment. We'll definitely be back, and likely request that the pan fried dumplings be fried a little longer (more crispy).
One of our favorite food place to go to anytime we do a couple massage at sac massage studios or after we hit the huge farmer markets Saturday. The owner is very dog friendly and the dumpling is deliciously fresh, sweet and not oily. Our dog also love their dumpling too and would wag his tail excitedly while patiently waiting for his portion. I would sometime go out of my way to swing by and grab a big portion for dinner the family.
We had the chicken & corn potstickers which were delicious!! Cannot recommend it enough. We also got the BBQ Pork Bao and though the flavor is amazing, the ratio between dough and meat wasn’t right. It was a bit too dry in my opinion.. maybe some kind of sauce on the side would’ve been great?! but all that said, we WILL be back!! Great place, great food and great people! Highly recommend!
We stop here every time we are in the neighborhood. It’s so good!!! Can’t go wrong, friendly service and great food.
Delicious and filling Chinese food at a reasonable price! This is the second time I’ve visited Dumpling House, and I ordered the kimchi fried rice with chicken, which was a generous portion, served piping hot within 10-15 minutes of ordering. It’s a small space to dine in, so stick to smaller parties, and of course you can opt to take out. Attentive and friendly staff. Highly recommend!
Have been here a couple times now, the first time after it was recommend by a friend who came on a date and gave a great review. I’m not sure why it took so long to try this place but was super happy with my experience! This restaurant is a little small inside but has a decent amount of seating for dining in. The menu is great with lots of options and a ton of vegetarian options which was super nice to see! We ordered spicy edamame, cream cheese wontons, cucumber salad, vegetarian potstickers, and vegetarian bao. Everything was delicious! The food came out pretty quick and the staff were really nice. I’ve come back afterwards to try other times to-go, and it was just as good and didn’t take long to get. Will be back!
Dumpling House has quickly become one of my favorite dumpling spots. The barbecue bread, potstickers and dumplings were all delicious and the barbecue buns were perfect not soggy or dry, full of flavor. The service was excellent too a young lady was super nice to us and gave really good customer service. We spent about $60 for two people, and it was worth every penny. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Walking in the area we decided to try this little shop based on the posted menu and great looking food on peoples tables. Its a small shop, nothing fancy but that's fine by us. We ordered the pork and chive potstickers fried, the vegetable chow mien and Chinese sausage fried rice. Potsticker were delicious and for 12 @$14 bucks a steal. The chow mien came with only carrots, cabbage and noodles but packed with flavor for as simple as it was. The fried rice had carrots, cabbage, egg and sausage and it was white which was unusual. I expected it to be brown from soy like most fried rice is but it still packed that umami flavor soy brings. Maybe white soy, I'm not sure. We liked the option of adding Chinese sausage instead of the usual ham. All in all a delicious lunch, friendly service, each dish was under $15 and would return again when in the area. We give it a 4.6 total.
Very fast paced service. The best meal if you’re trying to eat light and tasty. Take not to come with an empty stomach. Ate the Chicken & Corn Dumplings very delicious 😋
2nd time here & the dumplings are soo fresh & delicious. Had the shrimp chicken dumplings & veggie egg rolls. Plenty for 2 people. Sat out on the patio for a nice dinner & people watching. Service is top notch attentive & friendly. I have to say i loved coming in to see someone sitting at the table making fresh cream cheese wontons. It’s just very authentic. Definitely will be back for more
The best dumplings and pot stickers I have ever had! The steamed rice is so incredible I could eat the whole thing plain. 10/10 recommend for a quick bite. Even the leftovers are just as good as when you had it fresh.
This is a hidden gem. The potstickers were generously filled and crispes to perfection. I've had soup dumplings aka bao in several locations but these soup dumplings were the perfect balance of broth and filling. It's a bright atmosphere and everyone in the place seemed to enjoy their food. The portions are perfect for sharing like dim sum. Sadly we did come on a day that the bathroom was out of order.
Dumpling House on J Street Sacramento, was a very enjoyable restaurant. In fact, you probably won't find better dumplings unless you go to dumpling restaurants in San Francisco. Not a lot of tables, parking was down a side street, but it was all worth it. We were going for a dumpling coma and accomplished that. We tried pork and vegetable, chicken and corn, shrimp and chicken, only vegetable, sticky rice and sesame balls. You order at the counter and they bring the food to the table. Yes, it was spartan decoration to the place, but so what. This was a real dumpling place. Yummo. Watched them make the dumplings by hand with the help of a machine that grinds up the ingredients and loads them into the noodle wrapper. See my photos. Amazing.

Dumplings, gyoza, potstickers: whatever you want to call them these folks know what they’re doing! I was pleasantly surprised by the quick and delicious service! It’s not some grand affair here but the simplicity of the dishes really made me enjoy my first meal with them. Additionally, Beijing noodles were ordered and did not disappoint! Definitely worth stopping if you’ve never been!
Dumpling House is one of the first stops I make whenever I pick up my son from college. It’s a straight shot from Sac State on J Street, and let me tell you…..it’s delicious. I tried it once and ever since then, it’s become a non-negotiable visit every time I’m in the area. I made the “mistake” of letting my kids try it once, and when I turned around to grab the takeout container, there was nothing left. That’s when I realized something very important at this stage of my life: When I find a spot that hits just right, maybe I should keep it to myself… because now they’re just as obsessed with those kimchi pork dumplings as I am.😆😆😆😆😆😆
I got takeout from here and DANG these are some good eats. The portions are big and the BBQ pork dumplings especially are awesome. The chocolate dumplings are amazing too. I am definitely coming back!!

Real good potstickers! Chomping is good also but a little fishy! Wife hated it!lol the cream cheese wanton are exactly what they sound like
If you love dumplings and atmosphere is secondary, this is your spot!😋 We decided to try some dim sum down town, and went to the Dumpling House. The interior is small, lacks atmosphere, but dumplings are good (a bit expensive but there are a lot of them. We did not leave hungry). The parking is poor. Not much and the metermaid comes around to check. Two hour parking, if you can find it!😬
The wonton soup was just what my body needed. Also enjoyed the tempura pumpkin.
Be Back rating- more yes than no. I saw this business profiled in a periodical and decided to hit it on the way home. It's in downtown so I knew the parking would be a challenging issue. It's a good thing they only did take about 10 minutes to prepare our order because we waited in a no parking(?) spot in front of the establishment. And the employee was kind enough to bring it to our car. There's room inside for a few families to sit. And you have the outside seating. My Kim chee potstickers weren't as expected since I was actually expecting a Kim chee taste but did not. There was a piece of lettuce inside the meat but no kim chee flavor which was the main reason for ordering it. However, I still enjoyed them especially with the side dip. I think it's worth trying something else at this restaurant. They are creative with their dumplings/potstickers which I appreciate. And I think you pay a little more for that creativity, but you also get good tasting food.

Definitly my favorite dumplings in downtown. The wait time can be a little longer than average during peak hours/weekend, but its worth if you don't have anywhere to be.
Food was mediocre at best. Was really disappointed after seeing positive reviews. Wonton soup was flavorless and pork texture in dumpling was unappealing, broccoli in garlic sauce was mushy with a streak of salty brown sauce across and a pile of garlic bits dumped on top. Vegetable potstickers were nicely fried, but had no flavor. The chili oil helped. No environment either.
I have been craving mg Dan Dan noodles so I was excited to see them on the menu. I was so disappointed when my food arrived and it was just noodles with peanut sauce. No meat or veggies like typical Dan Dan noodles. Still searching to fulfill the craving :(
Pricey and the taste is just okay.... if you come from a culture eating dumplings, you might not be satisfied here. Their dumplings are all made by machine which is interesting, but the taste cannot even be compared to your home-made dumplings... The service and attitude are great though.

The worst pork xiao long bao I have ever eaten, barely any soup and was slightly cold inside. Got the pork and chive potstickers too and they were not very good as well. The potstickers made my fridge smell so bad I had to throw them away in the morning. Taro tea was pretty good, paid $34 for everything, won't be back. If you have had dumplings before don't eat here because you will be disappointed.
This restaurant is a huge let down. We were excited by the vegetarian section of the menu, but were disappointed by the offerings. The Dan Dan noodles were just udon noodles with peanut butter on top. No sauce, no vegetables. Just watery peanut butter. The server even asked us to mix the noodles ourselves. The vegetarian dumplings were insipid. Worse still was the atmosphere of the restaurant. All dishes are served on disposable plastic (including silverware, red Solo cups for water, and take-away containers instead of plates). The bathroom was "out of order" for customers, so I had to walk across the street to wash my hands. It's one thing to have this style for a take-away joint, but if you're going to offer table service, plastic flatware seems a bit lazy. Perhaps the meat-based offerings are tastier but I certainly would not recommend this place to vegetarians, or people who want a comfortable dining experience. One wants to believe in the authenticity of hole-in-the-wall places, but this experience was very disappointing.
Sausage and refried rice, worst I ever had and I'm 85 years old, I also had general chicken I fed some to my sons dog and she would not touch it, also cold the Sausage was like a slim Jim you get at arco gas station. If you are happy with the Dumpling I suggest you not try anything else
Pork chive steamed dumplings were flavorless. The dough was gummy. The sauce was extremely sweet. Xiao long bao order was below average in flavor. Dough consistency was slightly better though. Orange chicken was terrible--the worst of everything I ordered. Very little meat inside (see photo of cross section), extremely crunchy, almost candy-like batter. Odd oily sauce (chile oil??). I ordered from Door Dash. I could tell from the app and the message from my driver that he waited over 40 minutes for my food order (only 3 items). The food didn't look as bad as it tasted. After trying the food, I actually threw away the "chicken". I don't usually throw out food, but this dish tasted off and I didn't want to be ill. I'm shocked this place has good reviews.

The food at Dumpling House is genuinely good, with authentic flavors and well prepared dishes. However, the service left much to be desired. The male staff member who attended to me was quite rude and unwelcoming, which ultimately affected my experience and, unfortunately, made me lose my appetite. Because of this, I do not plan to return to this place.
The man who works front counter is absolutely the rudest person I've encountered in such a long time ... ordered orange chicken, noodles and fried shrimp fried rice ... and let's just say the rice was the only edible part of the meal. Worst 50$ spent
