I was randomly brought there after a Kings game and I'd have to say one of the best BBQ in Sacramento. The smoke was perfect. Highly recommended and the collard was uniquely made interestingly. Will have to come back.
The perfect balance of great bbq, service, and atmosphere all at a very fair price. They have a great menu. We had the ribs, mac n cheese, coleslaw and cornbread muffins for 2. Our friends had the ribs, brisket, hot links, and dirty tots. Everything was amazing. We will be back!!!
The food was awesome and the waitress was very very nice and polite. My son took me a lunch for my birthday I had one drink and we both had some really good food I had pulled pork and he had brisket and I would recommend this place to anybody they make their own barbecue sauce and it's super super good. My son bought me some barbecue sauce cuz they do sell it. It was $5 but well worth it.
We were in Sacramento for the day and wanted some bar b que. Did a google and found this place. You order at the bar and can sit inside or outside. We had the brisket and pulled pork and they were some of the best we have ever eaten. We had the cole slaw and mac and cheese for the sides and they were excellent. The mac and cheese was the best we have ever had at a restaurant
This place will catch your sense of smell as soon as you reach the front door. Absolutely amazing in every category. You will not be disappointed if you love BBQ. I I had the hot link sandwich that has an incredible cole slaw on top. The tater tots are crispy and the macaroni and cheese is so creamy and mouth watering. My husband had the pulled pork which he described as savory and perfecly done. The sauces from sweet to spicy are fantastic. Even though we did not have any of their special brews the variety is nice . Thank you Tank House for making me believe that real BBQ and it's side dishes do still exist. So I give Tank House BBQ & BAR 5 stars Mrs Smiley
Phenomenal! Came from out of the area to try this restaurant based off reviews & it did not disappoint. You can tell it’s a local favorite! You go up & order at the bar, the bar tender that took our order was so nice. We had kids as well & they loved it. The food was incredible, fresh, flavorful & the drinks were great as well! We had a variety & everything was something to rave over!
The smokiness of their meat is amazing, I continued to smell it on my hands for the rest of the day even after washing them several times. I had to resist all urges to over eat here and keep trying more, and I will definitely come back. The brisket was delicious, and the ribs were too, although they weren't the most tender ribs I've had.
We have seen this place several time when we come to the farmers market on Saturday’s tonight we decided to try it for date night and it did not disappoint at all! This is by far the best bbq I have found in Sacramento! The ribs are juicy and full of flavor. The brisket was absolutely delicious and not try at all. The smoke on the meat was so good and not over powering. The house salad was well put together! The staff was super friendly and took very good care of us. We will definitely be back to try the sandwiches!
Went here with a group of friends at opening for lunch. Walked up to it with delicious smells of meats in their smokers outside. Walking in, we were greeted by the staff with such enthusiasm! Service was quick and friendly and the environment was clean and gave off a rustic look. I ordered pulled pork and brisket with dirty tots and onion rings on the side! All the meat on all the dishes were so moist and tender! The pulled pork was especially juicy! When I ordered the brisket, I asked for a fatty piece and they didn't disappoint! It was rich and heavy and tender to the touch! Their BBQ sauces were also great and helped cut the richness of the meats while adding different flavors. The dirty tots were my favorite! The tots were crisp and the cheese sauce was incredible! Topped with pulled pork and BBQ sauce, it was a delicious mix of salty goodness! I also had a bite of some of my friends foods. The T-Man sandwich had the same great brisket and BBQ sauce with onion rings. It was basically my dish in sandwich form! I also tried some of their baby back ribs and they did not disappoint either! They were full of smoky flavor and tender to the bite! The dirty mac and cheese was also a standout for me. So much cheesy goodness with delectable bites of chicken! I would say this is probably my favorite BBQ spot on Sacramento! I absolutely would come back for the great food and enthusiastic service!
Baby back ribs didn't even need sauce...so good. Chicken also excellent. Tots crispiest we've ever had. Great dining experience.

First time eating at Tank House on a recommendation of a coworker. I had the prok ribs and brisket along with Mac and Cheese and greens. My favorite items were the brisket and Mac and Cheese, best I've had in a while. My only dislike were the greens which were a little on the sour side. I highly recommend this place. The bar has many craft beers and drinks. Tank House was conveniently located downtown with plenty of nearby parking.
Tank House BBQ and Bar has a great BBQ vibe and the flavors are solid overall. I’m giving 4 stars because my chicken came out a bit too dark for my taste, and I wish the sauce/dr was a little less heavy—but portions were generous and I’d still come back to try other items.
Love this place!! 6 hour drive north for us when we visit Sacramento and this is one of our favorite eateries. The food is delicious…all of it!!!! Portions are generous!!!! The staff has always been very kind, helpful, and welcoming to us over the years!!!! Actually above and beyond👏. We are older so would prefer olds school (maybe 70’s) music😂 But we understand music changes with the years🙂 MIL is very picky and hard to please and she loves the food and takes all the leftovers for herself.🤬
3.5 stars - this place is smaller than it looks from the outside. It is a mix of bar and booth seating. They have a limited menu in which you can choose individual items or a meal. We got the meal with the brisket, ribs and side of collard greens and Mac and cheese. For drinks, we got a beer and a cider. The brisket was pretty good. The ribs were great. There is a BBQ place we love in San Diego, so we compare everything to that (Grand Ole BBQ ye asado). This brisket was decent but not as good as theirs. The ribs were far superior here. The beer and cider were good overall. The collard greens were more soggy than I would have liked. The Mac and cheese was good. The spicy sauce was VERY good, as was the sweet sauce. The tangy sauce was just ok. This is a good option for BBQ especially if you want the meats by themselves rather than being put into sandwiches or other dishes.
OK look. I've been pretty disappointed with the BBQ offerings in the 916 for years. Y'all are doing it right. Best brisket around. Soft and tender but not falling apart. Fat was fully rendered and melts in your mouth. Ribs were perfect. Bite through tender but not falling off the bone. Pulled pork was satisfactory but not everyone's first choice. Wish I could have gotten the Midtown Chowdown but ordering first thing in the AM said it was sold out already but I could order everything separately? Will return to try other menu items!
The food is pretty delicious. The beef brisket is soft and tender but the baby back ribs are on the salty side. Do not order BBQ PLATTERS. You can get the same items with a cheaper price if you order individually. The bbq sauce is very spicy. I hope they can offer a sweet version. The service is a little slow but it’s on point. You have to order at the cashier and the server will deliver the food to you. Overall, I love the experience.
I love eating at new places in downtown Sacramento. This place is no exception great barbecue and a full bar. What more do you want on a Sunday afternoon? For me its being able eat all that in their outdoor dining area while visiting with friends, enjoying the sunshine and taking in scenery. The Dirty Mac is not worth it. Don’t try it. It was bland, I dumped some sauce on it to liven it up a bit. The hot wings were pretty good. Very unique smoked flavor. But don’t come here for all that come here for the RIBS and/or BRISKET because this is the place for that. Thank me later.
Quick and tasty food. We loved the BBQ sandwiches--tender and tasty--and BBQ sauce. Chopped brisket and pulled pork. Coleslaw was fresh but had too much onion flavor for me. Tater tots were good. Sim…

Stopped by after work for a little impromptu date night, and it ended up being a solid pick. The place has those cozy pub vibes going on, and the simple Halloween decor added a nice seasonal touch …
Food was pretty damn good. Service was acceptable especially as busy as they were. And the crowd, the staff, and atmosphere, all gave off good vibes.
Disappointed is how I left. Met a coworker here tonight and ordered meat treat, 2 meats. I got the brisket, which was good. pulled pork which was different then I've ever experienced. Dry and ver…
Service was mediocre- You order at the bar, not much of any greeting when you enter. Food came out fast, within 10 min which shocked us, we knew why later. The lukewarm half rack ribs were dry. The greens were superb. The tots were tots. The BBQ sauces were all delicious. Good portions.
I came here for the 4.4 stars on Google review. I had ribs and brisket. Ribs were very dry. The sliced briskets were sold out so I had the chopped briskets instead. They were med and lack juicy flavor I was looking for. Overall this place is overrated and I’ll not come back.
This was our first time here, and we ordered the Meat Treat for two. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. The cornbread was really good and even better with the butter. The dirty tots were a highlight, fully covered in sauce and pulled pork yet still somehow CRUNCHY. The sausage was juicy with a nice level of spice. The ribs had good seasoning but were pretty dry and stuck to the bone. The brisket had good flavor and would pull apart, though some pieces were drier than expected and not as tender. The mac and cheese was creamy but had a weird musty flavor, almost like the smell you get from an old building. They also offer two BBQ sauces, one tangy and one sweet, both were unique. The sweet BBQ sauce was my favorite but mixing it with the tangy BBQ made an even better flavor. I’m giving this place three stars because, at the end of the day, this is a meat-focused spot, and ironically the meats were the weakest part. Great ribs should fall off the bone and brisket should pull apart like butter and unfortunately we did not get that here.
I'm in town for a conference, and I wanted ribs. Tank House BBQ had a rating slightly better than other dedicated rib places. Overall I was disappointed. I ordered a half rack of baby back ribs with the tater tots. The meat was very tough and had to be torn off the bone. This is the opposite of the ideal which is meat that cooked soft first, then bbq'd with enough seasoning and juices that it neither falls off the bone when you pick it up nor adheres so that you need to put effort into tearing it off with every bite. I knew this was going to be a tough meal as soon as the waitress set it down. The cuts between each rib we're so precise and clean. It looked like someone had cut perfect strips through a tough block of meat. The tater tots were greasey and inedible. I did see other patrons with mac and cheese and coleslaw. Both of those sides, which I did not have, looked really good. Overall, I wouldn't return.
I'll talk about the vibe first. Music was on point. The decor was nice inside and it was packed. To our surprise, they had a patio area with large tables, a TV and speakers to hear the music from inside. So that, was a win. This is the reason we stopped. The service was okay. The person who greeted us was great. Friendly, approachable and funny. He gave us our menu and gave us direction on where to go to order. The guy taking our order, he started off nice enough and then ended up being dry. Asked how we can get to the patio and didn't even bother to speak. Just pointed to the direction and we just had to figure it out. Now the food. We ordered the two meat combo, brisket and chicken. It came with two sides which we picked dirty mac and cheese and cornbread. This was super disappointing. The chicken was dry and tough. The skin felt like plastic when trying to cut into it and the seasoning was weak. The brisket, dry and hardly any flavor. The dirty mac and cheese and the cornbread saved the meal for me, since I couldn't eat the meats. Our family ordered the kale greens and again, it lacked seasoning. I don't see myself coming back but my wife and cousin didn't mind it. So, ultimately, it's all about the preference.

Tough, dry brisket. Mac n cheese had zero flavor. I prefer urban roots 100x more. For the high price, you'd be better off also at Sauced.
