Highland Chinese Cafe

We love this place. Our favorite dishes are Cashew Chicken with extra veggies and Chicken Chow Mein. The staff is helpful and friendly and the cook is excellent. Call before and it will be waiting, but I have never waited more than ten minutes even when they were busy. Try it, you will like it!

The food was fresh, well seasoned, and It taste great! The inside a restaurant was very clean. The service was wonderful. With well beyond reasonable prices. I'll give it thumbs up with 5 stars.

When I first approached the place I thought nothing of it because it didn't have the best view. But it was good inside, but that isn't important the food is. The food is worth it's price and it's delicious. And the waiter, you should've seen him he is fast, like kachow. Earned a good tip, this guy was cool.

Better than Panda any day of the week. I have a weakness for Orange Chicken and BOY do these guys knock it out of the park. Everything they make, from their Hot & Sour soup to their Honey Walnut Shrimp is the bee's knees! I hate to admit it but I come here at least once a week to treat myself to their delicious dinner plates. If I get there in time for the lunch special, even better. I highly recommend Highland Chinese, they really pack on the food too so if you're tired of other restaurant's portions (*COUGH* panda) then come here for a meal and a half at a great price.

Can't wait to explore the menu, the Mongolian beef was Amazing! I was born in Japan and haven't tasted anything as close since I was there! I will keep periodically updating.....

We've been coming here since my 22 year old was about 4. The food is always delicious. They especially love the sizzling rice soup. They love the presentation. The sizzling sound it makes when they put the rice into the soup at your table is very pleasing to Littles-so much so that for almost 20 years all of my children refer to this place as "Sizzling rice soup" ie. Mama can we go to Sizzling rice soup tonight? Don't let the lack of dinners inside fool you (I tend to judge how good the food is by how busy they look) most of their business is take out. After trying most of what Antelope and the surrounding cities have to offer that this is the best Chinese food around!

My family and I have been eating at this place for over 15 years. A few years ago it changed ownership but most of the recipes are the same and there are a few improvements to the already amazing food options Every time I make it back to . Sacramento I have to come here to get the Hot and Sour soup. It is the best I have had IN THE WORLD, seriously. I also highly recommend the garlic chicken, almond chicken, won ton soup, foil wrap chicken, po po platter and chicken chow mien. The staff here really know their regulars well, are always very nice and the cooks are speedy. If you are in the Antelope or North Highlands area this is the place for a yummy and cheap Chinese take out dinner.

I’ve been going here for over 15 years but recently started doing reviews. Let me tell you about this here broccoli and beef. It’s the best! The broth that it’s in is amazing. The taste never misses. The customer service is always great for me. The atmosphere maybe a little dull. But you can sure eat here with some peace and quietness.

I am pretty critical of Chinese restaurants, and this one was *not* a disappointment in any way! We ordered Dinner #2 for 3 people. Everything was entirely delicious and visually pleasing. The cashews were big and whole, the meat was seasoned well, and the pork fried rice was a good standard and not too dry and not too wet. Portions were good, as well. I was especially impressed by the beef dish and the egg rolls. I'm not a big fan of eggrolls, but I liked these! I'm also not a fan of beef dishes, and I was surprised how tender the meat was and tasty. We ate in on a Saturday night about 6:30, there was a lot of easy parking. The service was very nice, quick, and professional with personality. We like some sassiness! The portions were good, and the food came quickly. We substituted the soup, and our server didn't blink. Take out was constant, and the in-dining was occupied, but plenty of empty tables (reservations not needed). Overall, this is my new favorite because they failed at nothing! I'm looking forward to trying my usual take-out favorites and more of those yummy egg rolls. It's so nice to enjoy so many dishes from a single restaurant!

Highland Chinese is my FAVORITE place in all of Sacramento and Placer County to get Chinese food. The service is always great and the food is consistently incredible. My personal favorite is the Braised Tofu and Vegetable Chow Mein but a popular one among my family is the Hong Kong Style Pan Fried Noodles. Egg drop soup is perfect for cold weather days or sick days. Really everything there is good and you can't go wrong

Authentic and delicious Chinese cuisine. Staff are friendly, food is good and prices are reasonable. Definitely a go-to for when the need for some delicious general chicken or fried rice is required. They have ample seating room and tables are low enough to support wheelchairs.

Food taste great, you get a good amount of food other than the ribs having little to no meat. Fair price. No restrooms. Sometimes a long wait for the food.

This is my go to Chinese restaurant. The food is delicious, but the decoration could use some touch up. I always see the same waitress working there, I feel bad but she's great at the job. My girlfriend and I always feel welcomed. I definitely recommend the chicken chow mien, orange chicken, and sweet and sour chicken. Their soup is also delicious!

Excellent. Very fair prices for the food you get. Enough to take some home for later. Service was excellent as well. I think her name was Susie that waited on us. I'll definitely go back.

War won ton soup and combination chow mein two stars. The broth is flavorless. Won tons taste different from what I had in other places. Don't expect to get the big size shrimp. They put in soup and chow mein nickle size shrimp. We did not care for combination chow mein taste either. I do have to say good portion for the chow mein. Customer service is excellent, lady was very nice when I walked in and my food was ready for pick up.

This is the worst Chinese food I've had in a long time. They used to be good years ago, but don't know what happened. Orange chicken was disgusting, and same with the rest of the food. No flavor, and everything taste like nothing but grease. Some of the meat even had gristle in it. Will never eat here ever again. The place doesn't even look clean on the inside. If I could give this place zero stars I would.

Really rude staff!!! Gave the wrong order and had to drive back another 20 min to get the right one. Owner made deal to give me a complimentary meal on any Wednesday to make up for the mistake. Then when I went to get the complimentary meal on a Wednesday gave me attitude for following up on her offer. Jerk!!

It was awful! We spent $50. For 2 people. Only thing we ordered that was good was wonton soup. Egg rolls were greasy & burnt. We couldn't eat the chicken chow mein, walnut shrimp, sweet & sour chicken they were horrible!! We are hungry and spent $50.00 . We threw everything away. Don't eat there!

I decided to try this place today. Big mistake. Everything tastes horrible. The walnut chicken was super chewy and had almost no walnut sauce. I have never been so disappointed, a complete waste of $30. I’m not happy.

Rasicts ill manned waitress/owner. I order a dish that was the wrong order. she stated they no longer make when we ordered it last week. I asked her what was it called she replied "we don't make it no more." I would have spent a lot of money had she not been and unprofessional. So I asked for a return.
