1st time trying Ju Hachi On New Years, and here's my Sacramento Downtown reality check. Ju Hachi is a spot where fresh shipments of fish come first, and you can Taste it immediately. Clean cuts, fresh, succulent and juicy - the Chefs choice sashimi of the day was ocean trout + hamachi + salmon. For the fitness folks that need high protein macro friendly eats, Ju Hachi is your spot. For service pacing, the holidays are times we're most businesses are understaffed and patience is truly needed with compassion to understand the service here stands out because they are focused on making sure we have a quality meal despite high volume customers in a small packed place. Ambiance, the aesthetics makes the place great for family , business meetings, or even bonding time for folks that want to escape work chaos. The music playing was the 90's and 2000s RNB so - best believe it was a vibe. Tip : sit at sushi bar if you can, order with intention, and build in a little grace and compassion because good food takes time, and so do the folks that make this place possible.
I’ve been coming to Ju Hachi for years, and it never fails to impress. The fish is always fresh and top quality. My favorite spot is the bar when Sang is behind it. He’s not only attentive but also friendly and entertaining, making every visit feel special. Connor and Alan are fantastic as well, and the three of them together create such fun banter that the meal is both delicious and entertaining. Ju Hachi is always our go-to when we’re craving sushi, and I can’t recommend the chirashi enough!
Ju hachi is definitely under-rated! The quality of the fish is excellent, and their ramen is respectable. I believe the head sushi chef came from the original Kru, so you get the quality without the expensive price tag. The owner is a chill dude & comes out and chats every now and then. Top 4 for me personally in the sacramento area. * Don't leave without trying -Vanessa madness roll -Sashimi platter -Lomi shoyu Ramen -Tempura fried cheesecake - Hamachi Kama
Charming local sushi spot in an old fashioned, beautiful Sacramento house. The interior was cute and welcoming. Vegetarian options were really great for sushi - the veggie tempura rolls and avocado rolls were awesome! Way better than the vegetarian after thoughts you would find at a different sushi place. And the tempura cheesecake was amazing - felt really unique! Fantastic, super nice service! Thank you!
Ju Hachi is a true treasure for Japanese cuisine lovers! The moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a cozy, welcoming atmosphere that sets the tone for an exceptional dining experience. The sushi is incredibly fresh, crafted with precision and care, and every roll is a work of art. The menu offers a perfect balance of traditional dishes and creative twists, ensuring there’s something for everyone. Don’t miss their tempura—light, crispy perfection—or the miso black cod, which melts in your mouth. The staff are attentive, friendly, and make you feel right at home. Ju Hachi isn’t just a meal; it’s an experience. A must-visit for anyone craving authentic Japanese flavors!
Only been here once but I am ready to go back! Came here for dinner with my friend and it was a great experience. We sat outside since it was a bit busy inside, but the staff were so nice and welcoming that we didn't feel at all like the service was impacted by the amount of people. They have a great menu full of different options and a lot of drinks! The waitress was super nice in recommending different drinks and offered us a sample when we went sure what to order. If the weather is nice and you're craving sushi come here and sit outside! Perfect for date night or girls night!
The food here was pretty decent. I saw a picture of a really tasty looking little thing that had Ikura, Uni, and Toro in a spoon and asked for one of those and it was good! They ran out of Toro but they had hamachi belly and they asked if I was ok with replacing it, which I was cool with. Apparently there's no name for it, so just show them the pic and say you want one of those haha. The nigiri I got were decent. I liked the Ikura the most. The California roll was also solid and had a generous portion. Oh and they have plum wine!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Sat at the bar and Sang was a legend – funny, skilled, and the specialty rolls were fire. If you want quality sushi and a good time, grab a seat at the bar. Highly recommend.
This place has been one of our go-to’s for meetings with clients, friends, family, even to just decompress solo and have a delightful conversation with the staff at the bar. The staff is top notch, a true neighborhood friend! Very educated and passionate about what they’re doing. Any questions we had, they’ve answered with such enthusiasm and excitement that it really adds to the experience. This is a hidden gem that needs to remain hidden, because I want to keep it all to myself. In all seriousness, you have to try this place out. You will not be disappointed!
Walked in after discovering it 5 mins earlier on Google maps. Very cool place. Can order off of menu or go with chefs choice (like a izakaya). Good food and drinks. Definitely check out
Came here for lunch my chance and loved it! Had their bento box with BBQ salmon and sashimi and completely forgot to take a photo because it was so delicious. Their miso and salad were excellent. We also had their large tempura plate and the crunch was wonderful. We also found the broccoli was extra delicious- probably the best tempura broccoli we’ve had. We also tried the Spicy Maria roll and wow. The roll itself was large and they did not skimp on crab or salmon. The lemon and tajin were wonderful combos of flavors too. Finally, the employees were friendly and attentive. We definitely will be coming back!

Sang was our sushi chef and took great care of us. Everything was delicious and presented beautifully. Only downside is Sang sucks at billiards.
Sang was amazing! Super friendly and enjoyable to talk to. Food was delicious! Definitely will come back to see him
This place is so good! I've been to many sushi places and I enjoyed everything I ordered here. Worth a try if you're in the area, it's yummy!
We had a reservation for 7:30 on a Thursday night and we still had to wait for about 30 mins to get seated. The restaurant is small so there's not that many tables and I think they're still shortstaffed. We ordered the bbq albacore, scallop wraps (so good), baby calamari (really good), otoro (perfect amount of fat and it just melts in your mouth) and at least 8 different rolls. They were all good but after awhile they all tasted similar.

The food is delicious, I ordered a roll, 1 Bluefin nigiri, 2 Otoro nigiri, 5 Sake toro nigiri as well as a sake/pepperfin and a side of rice. This is a nice cozy establishment that offers Semi Traditional Japanese cuisine, Service was standard for any eatery of this nature, our sushi chef was excellent in preparation, I will say portion sizes on cuts are on the thinner side and pricing is standard for good sushi. My bill was $100 before tip and me and my wife enjoyed our time. I would say if you plan on eating well with a spouse or friend, understand the price of good sushi and prepare yourself to spend upwards of $100 to fill your belly. For me this is the norm, however I also order Otoro nigiri which is usually priced higher that standard nigiri. The location makes it a little difficult to find parking so paying at a meter may be the only option if street parking is full, this is entirely based off of the time of/or day. I will be returning to Ju Hachi in the near future.
As a vegetarian visiting Ju Hachi in Sacramento late at night around 9:30, the experience was just okay. Unfortunately, there weren't many options for vegetarians, which limited our choices. The vegetable udon was disappointing, it had a weird taste, the quantity was good though--honestly, we wish we hadn't ordered it. On the bright side, the green roll was a pleasant surprise! Even though we are not seaweed lovers, we really enjoyed it. The vegetable tempura roll was good as well, but the green roll was definitely the standout dish. The service was average. I initially received ice-filled water and requested room-temperature water instead, but it took a very long time to arrive. Overall, it was not the best dining experience. The vibes of the restaurant were just okay, nothing special. While some people at the bar seemed to enjoy drinks with the sushi preparer. If you're vegetarian, definitely skip the udon if you decide to go.
I recently visited this sushi restaurant with a friend, hoping to be impressed by the rave reviews. Unfortunately, our experience fell short. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, recommending the Chubby Andy Roll. While the presentation was appealing, the flavors were underwhelming. The sauce had an unusual taste that my friend didn't enjoy. I asked to exchange it for another option, but the waitress recommended trying another bite. Sadly, I was still disappointed. I opted for the Shrimp Tempura as a replacement, but unfortunately, it lacked flavor and creativity. The sauces accompanying both rolls were mediocre at best. While the food didn't impress, the restaurant's atmosphere was pleasant. The venue was clean and aesthetically pleasing, with a great music selection. The dumplings were a highlight, and I would recommend them. Overall, I'm unsure if I would return, but I appreciate the friendly service and welcoming atmosphere.

Went here for Valentine’s Day dinner and was disappointed with rolls. Our rolls were mediocre at best, they lacked flavor and were thinly cut with very little fish. The waitress was friendly, kind and attentive. The time for the food to come out was also so long being that rolls were sub par. The best thing were the stuffed mushrooms and mild Nigori sake.
I rarely leave bad reviews, but this place was a disappointment. We ordered 4 rolls and few nigiri’s and waited for an order almost 50 minutes. The rolls were packed with rice and almost no fish. Tasted plain and we had to trim every piece from rice. I honestly think sushi from Chinese Buffet tastes better. Mikuni price and buffet taste doesn’t really pair well.

Nice location and ambiance, but ultimately a very average dining experience. The sushi rolls are okay, but the cooked food was fairly bad, and the sushi/nigiri/sashimi options were quite limited and basic. If you want Americanized style Japanese food of decent quality this is alright (albeit a little pricey), but if you are hoping for more authentic sushi offerings, you'd best look elsewhere.
Ordered tempura udon, the broth tasted like package sachet udon, salty but the tempura very crunchy . And the katsu don to much rice and greasy. To bad not take the pictures of the food.

$46 for their Chef’s special 10 piece Nigiri. Absolutely DISGUSTING and we didn’t even finish it. Expected more out of this for $46 each tray, but they served the most basic of food here yet they want to overcharge as if they’re great. This is buffet quality food. Service was horrible. Sat us on a dirty table. Forgot our waters. And when we did get it, the cups were dirty at the rim. Forgot our plates and utensils. Barely checked on us.
