My fourth time in this MARVELOUS place! The food, service and atmosphere are exceptional place. We started off with raw vegetables crudite that has Ice plants! It’s simple yet soo good. Then we had the potato salad and the steak for two. We ended dinner with soft serve and cheesecake. They gave us cookies to round off the meal.

Fantastic salad. We ordered the Swiss chard salad with anchovy sauce- the umami flavor was terrific. Also ordered steak tartare which was good, though not a spotlight, it came with bread which made the meal very filling even though only 2 items.

We celebrated our anniversary while in Napa. We enjoyed our evening in one of the outdoor Yurts. They accommodated our early arrival and didn't charge for first bottle corkage. We had the tasting menu which was really treat. I would highly recommend this to anyone as a place to stop and enjoy a meal while in town.

Charter Oak is a must-visit The service was great, and the staff took their time to ensure everything was perfect. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with an open-fire counter that adds a unique touch. It feels like every dish is crafted with care and has its own distinct character. The Caesar salad is an easy 9/10-absolutely amazing, one of the best l've had. The lettuce is incredibly fresh and crunchy, though at the end of the day, it's still just a Caesar salad. The red beet salad is a 10/10, but you have to love beets. The thyme pairs beautifully with the beets and cream, and the crispy onions add just the right amount of texture. The steak was okay I'd give it a 6/10-but the burger is an absolute must-try, hands down a 10/10. It's easily the best thing on the menu. Trust me, you won't regret it.

The restaurant is beautiful. We had a reservation and were seated quickly. Our food was delicious. The burger was really good. We did have a rather obnoxious person at the table by us though and he nearly ruined our experience. He was loud, rude to the staff, and complained about everything. It was awful.

Came here for lunch after a winery. We sat outside which was pretty with all the trees trees and great weather. Over all the food was great I had the miso Caesar salad, warm sourdough bread and chicken filled butternut squash. Everything tasted very fresh and delicious. After eating at other establishments in seperate cities that have been featured on Michelin's Restaurant Guide, I am sorry to report that my visit to the Charter Oak was nothing less than an unfortunate disappointment. This isnt to say that "everything was bad", but more to highlight that the expectations simply did not live up to the hype. It would be polite to start off with what did go right. The interior design of something akin to an old, blacksmith's workshop for the central grilling pit, the old warehouse vibe of the bar, and the harvest decor along the walls added to the ambiance. The wife and I tried the dry-rubbed wings as an appetizer and they were tasty and were generally filling, but were also not particularly 'unique'or special from other places weve been to. During our visit, we also tried the "seasonal raw vegetables from the farm" and while the soy dip certainly did match with the flavors of the veggies provided, the vegetables themselves certainly didn't seem particularly fresh. In fact, many seemed a bit on the older and drier side. As for our main dishes, my wife's steak seemed to be practically overpowered by the gravy that was paired with it, and the Halibut I was served seemed a bit on the older side and had a bitter herb and carrot (?) topping that was not particularly pleasing to the tastebuds. The waiter did provide some recommendations for a wine my wife did enjoy, but looking at the menu price for the glass which was practically the cost for a whole bottle after we left the establishment seemed like a particularly egregious cash grab. All in all, the experience did not feel like it lived up the level of quality thay being on the Michelin guide recommendations, nor the cost when compared to other experiences local to Napa, or other Michelin recommendations.

The steak was rare, I ordered medium rare both the chicken and the fish were too salty I loved the taste of the steak but not worth it Wouldn’t come here again The corn, the dessert and the grilled cabbage were amazing. We came there for our first dinner at Napa with high expectations about food, service and view. The price is high as expected, the view is romantic and cool when you stay outside. We waited for a while for entrees with a $20 salad appetizer...it was not bad, mix sauce every single leaf. We order half grilled chicken and shoulder pork chop with corn and rice. The food was good with even spices and smoky flavor. However the service was bad. It started well with friendly chat and order fast, after the appetizer came, no one came or stopped by to ask, then food came by another waiter, and continued our waiter didn't come to ask about either how food was or we needed to order more wine...until we finished and gave a check. It is the fine restaurant with good food but the service was not at the high level. Recommend for food, but up to you comes with luck with service.

We chose Charter Oak in the Napa Valley region to celebrate a special occasion, and unfortunately it was a huge disappointment from start to finish. Despite having a reservation, we weren’t seated until 25 minutes after our scheduled time. Once we finally ordered the Raw Vegetable Platter, Roasted Chicken, and Steak, everything came out all at once before our drinks even arrived. It was honestly shocking how fast it hit the table. I joked that they must have the world’s fastest chefs, and our server immediately blamed the kitchen staff. After that, he didn’t check on us. The food was cold across the board. The steak, which was ordered medium rare, arrived well done and stone cold. When he eventually returned, I shared feedback about the temperature and the overcooked steak. His response was that we should have told him sooner, which would have been difficult considering he never came back to check on us. There was no apology, no attempt to make it right, no offer of dessert, nothing. For a region like Napa with endless incredible dining options, this experience felt careless and completely overpriced for the level of service. This place feels more like a TikTok and Instagram influencer trap than a restaurant that prioritizes hospitality. I would not recommend it, and I would not return.

We found Charter Oak to be less than mediocre. We have dined around the world, and this restaurant was so disappointing. The overall feel of the restaurant is pretentious, the menu is boring and over priced My meat was way over cooked. The side dishes, overly salty and skimpy esp given the prices. The soft serve ice cream dessert was good. The sour dough chocolate bread pudding was hard and dry. The servers were polite, but disengaged. There are much better dining options in this area.

If I could give this restaurant zero stars, I would. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing from start to finish. We’re not picky diners, and I rarely leave reviews, but the service and food here truly missed the mark. Every server we interacted with seemed disengaged or inconvenienced by our presence. We ordered our drinks, appetizers, and entrées at the same time. While the appetizers and drinks arrived promptly, we waited over an hour for our main courses. We eventually had to seek out staff multiple times just to get an update. When our meals finally arrived, they were cold and appeared to have been sitting out for some time. When we raised our concerns, management offered little acknowledgment—no apology, only a brief comment that they would “work on it.” They did comp a portion of the bill and gave us a small gift card along with a complimentary dessert for the table, but unfortunately, the dessert was burnt and inedible. For a restaurant charging over $200 per person, we expected a far higher level of food quality and service. Sadly, this experience fell far short. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, as St. Helena has many other excellent dining options that deliver both hospitality and value.
