I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place. I spend ALL of my personal holidays, family reunions, meet-ups and "I just need an El Rico fix" The food is OFF the CHART good. Lunches are packed and for good reason. There is something for everyone. I always have the white fish ceviche...then...(sigh)
We love this place. The menu is full of surprises…things you’ve never tasted. The green spice sauce would make any meal extraordinary and the giant Peruvian corn kernals are pure paradise.
Great food. Don't be in a hurry, expect for to take a while to come out. It is worth the wait. Friendly, family style staff.
Delicious Peruvian food. Family-friendly restaurant, with a great cuisine selection. Spacious, colorful decorations, nice table seating. Attentive and friendly service. It's worth the trip!
Been looking for great Peruvian restaurant near my home and I am so happy I found this place. Not only is the food absolutely delicious, but the staff is also amazing, very friendly. I would've posted pictures but once I got a little taste of the food I couldn't stop, maybe next time because I definitely plan to go back very soon! Highly recommend.
The food was FRESH!! Staff was attentive. The place has a nice & cool ambiance
Best Peruvian food in the area! Love their lomo saltado and arroz chaufa! They also have decent veggie meat for those who are vegetarian.

Authentic Peruvian Food. Because of it being authentic and well prepared, it takes time to prep your meal. I can honestly say you'll be satisfied with your meal, a mixture of flavors that awakens your taste buds. From Appetizers to Entrees and there delicious dessert! You'll for sure leave satisfied and will want to return. These are a few of the plates I absolutely love and believe you will to. Recommendations: For starters they'll give you cancha and green sauce absolutely delicious, the green sauce will taste so good with steamed rice if you order an entree with it and french fries. They have a yummy Peruvian only "Agua Fresca" called Maracuya, Ceviche Mixto(Photo 1), Anticucho(Photo 2), chicharron de calmares(Photo 3), papa a la huancaina, Pollo a la Pobre, Pescado a lo Macho, Chupe de Camaron and last but not least Picarrones.....
I'm just a fan of Peruvian rotisserie chicken, they definitely have their own unique style and it's good. This is where I get it in San Bernardino. They definitely hook up the food generously and they do serve alcohol if that's your thing. I'm not going to complain about the dining area, I strictly come for the food.
All around great place !! Love the food such great flavors , staff is very kind and very attentive to customers , been coming here for awhile !!! Place is also kept very clean
PLEASE 3.8?! Are you kidding me the food here is 10 STARS 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 so good 😭😭😭 Most authentic Peruvian food IMO
This place never misses. Food is always flavorful authentic, the sides are delicious, and the portions are great for the price. Super comforting and always hits the spot!

Went here for something different, and different it was! Peruvian cuisine is something that I've seldom had, and this place did not disappoint. The atmosphere here was a bit dark though. There wasn't any real light except for the very back and the big bay window.
Both dinners were delicious as usual. I could not believe how quickly we were served our meals. But then I noticed there were more cooks n the kitchen. As usual on a Sunday they were very busy. Non stop traffic in sperts of 10 to 15 minutes. My only complaint was service at our table. Our wait was kind but slow to watch her tables. Better service through the week. Consistently good flavorful food items, even non alcoholic beverages. Chef Ann
Very good food. I ordered the fried fish with tomatoes and onions and was very pleased. The servers were very friendly. The only reason I gave it 4 Stars was because the juices offered were cheap and from concentrate and because the service was a little slow, requiring me to gain the attention of the server to request refills, etc. but overall, I was very satisfied and would go back if I lived in the area.
Anticuchos $8: these are made from beef heart, marinated overnight in a mix of vinegar, spices, salt and pepper? and I am sure a couple of other ingredients. When done properly they are very tasty, the come with grilled potato and a savory sauce to dip them in. They are supposedly cooked on fire till the edges are crunchy or very close to it. We liked them a lot. 4 Stars. Ceviche Mixto $12: the most popular of peruvian dishes. There are countless varieties of ceviche, and it does take skill to make a good one, let alone an excellent one. Fish, Calamari, Shrimp, Octopus, this is a Ceviche Mixto. Comes with a leaf of lettuce, sweet potato, corn or hominy, and depending on the person they can make it very hot (spicy) or mildly so. This one we also liked, and the price was a little more benign than in most peruvian places. 4 Stars. Fried Fish $13?: Fried fish, did not determine what kind, but it was nicely spiced to where it had abundant flavor. Came with white rice and a fresh salad, plus a traditional onion salsa. Did not disappoint. 4 Stars. Picarones $6: a traditional deep fried like doughnut, very fluffy and crispy, made mostly with butter squash or pumpkin batter, and served with a traditional syrup that is very popular in Peru, Chancaca? (hope this is spelled correctly). When done properly this dessert is delicious and this version did not disappoint. 4 Stars. Service was mostly adequate. 3.5 Stars.Total Bill: $55+, plus gratuity, we felt it had been expensive for a lunch engagement, but then again peruvian places always squeeze the wallets, some more than others, though. 4 Stars. Today, 5-8-2019, made the blunder of returning to this wore out establishment. Last time was around 2 years ago? We wanted Peruvian, and we broke our decision not to return. We chose this place again because of the driving distance. The place is nicely decorated, Peruvian motifs and well chosen music. First, they should change their name from El Rico Pollo (the tasty chicken) to El Pollo Seco (the dry chicken), for it required gulps of their distasteful water 💦 just to swallow the overcooked, badly marinated, Peruvian style chicken. A total embarrassment to the very tasty chicken sold in Peru. We ordered one whole chicken w rice/fries for almost $25. Rice was mediocre. You want good Peruvian white rice? Go to Panca in Oceanside. Fries from the frozen bag were a lot more appetizing. 1.5 Stars. 2 Ceviches Mixto (mixed ceviche) for almost $30. Mine had more red onions than seafood, total rip off, and word to the wise, the citrus juice that supposedly cooks the raw seafood, comes in a bottle. The other ceviche was loaded w seafood compared to mine, made me slightly envious. Still, it was edible. 3 Stars. Chicken Causa, $8? Told it was very nice. 4 Stars. Anticuchos, $10+ Decent. 3 Stars. Picarones, $6.50. Peruvian dessert, we like it a lot. Deep fried like donuts made with squash/pumpkin? with a unique syrup. Place was empty at 7 PM, very bad sign indicating that this place does not attract customers. We have eaten here over the years, and it steadily has lost what was good once. Cutting corners, overcharging, sending mediocre food to the table, Peruvian restaurants are well known, among other cultures, to charge a lot but give you a little. At least in Peru they deliver high quality, but here it is rare to get a decent meal. I am not referring to one or two dishes that are acceptable, but to the whole menu. Service was lacking any enthusiasm whatsoever, who knows? Lackadaisical attitude can get contagious 😷 so watch out. A group arrives in a festive mood, ready to spend hard earned money, and in 5 minutes of being in the place, the gloomy behavior of the staff, vanquishes all smiles. Maybe a little neurotic to add to the disappointing overall effect. Next time chicken from Costco, a lot cheaper and tastier. El Seco Pollo looses respect and certainly we will shy away from visiting again. 2 Stars.
First time here and the food was very good. We will be back. We got here about 6pm and our food didn't take too long. There wasn't much of a wait.
Good food ,bad service slow all the time ,i go there everutime im around San Bernardino , that happens on most Peruvian restaurants sadly, but the food its good a lil pricey but fine.
Walked in and it was dark. The lights were off for sum reason. I get it natural light from the day time is ok but it did seem a little warm in there not sure if there ac had issues. Food was good 👍🏼 😋 no problems at all.
My review as my visit went, we order our drinks first, which the lady took a bit to bring them, then right after we order our food which was a Pescado a lo macho and a lomo saltado. The pescado a lo macho was good, the flavor was there, the lomo saltado was good too, except that the meat was hard, but the flavor was good. I’ve been to a lot of Peruvian restaurants so I know their food. If I’ll come again? Yes I will but I’ll try other dishes. The server needs to be more attentive tho

Una experiencia deliciosa! A delicious experience. Only the Papa a la Juan Aina was delicious but it had only 3 slides and half of an egg… for 12.50 kind of pricy:)

My Shrimp Ceviche was good but the appetizer includes much carbs and only a few shrimp, maybe 7 small shrimp for $17, not a great value for the price. However, the Pesto Pasta with Sirloin was delicious and a very good value at $14.50. They also had a very good IPA on tap which was a bonus! The one disappointment was that my entree arrived within 2 minutes of my appetizer. I only had time for 1 bite of shrimp and 1 bite of potato from my appetizer when my steak and pasta arrived. The waiter, needs some training so that he knows when to submit orders so they come out at the right time, the right interval!
The food was not great, but ok. We order Pobre steak 👎 with way too many starches on a plate, no veggies options, the meat was salty, and the eggs over cooked almost burned 🤔 asked for Yuca and got sweet plantains instead, the place is dark but clean for what I could see. I don't think I will visit this place anytime soon. No recommend this Peruvian restaurant.

I do not recommend El Rico Pollo. It took a bit to be acknowledged after we walked into the restaurant even though the 2 servers looked at us. Many menu items were not available, it was very disappointing not to be able to eat what my family and I wanted. The sauce of the lomo saltado was salty, and it tasted like soy sauce. The maracuyá drink tasted like it was made from a powder mix. We will not return.
Good is good but not your money’s worth. Parihuela comes with no rice no bread and very little few seafood in my bowl. It was just sauce but no meat. It is ridiculous what they do.It could be better. I left this restaurant hungry after paying 19.00 for a plate and 16.00 for my partners food. They should learn from mamitas in Glendale and Mario’s in Los Angeles. I won’t come back to this restaurant, I don’t recommended. They take your money and they send you home hungry.
Ordered 2 dishes , Chaufa de pollo (chicken chaufa). It was big in portion of rice , but was lacking chicken, the "Lomo Saltado was good not the best ive had , meat overcooked for my taste, good portion of protein and fries. The service is terrible. I had asked for the aji sauce (aioli) a few times before getting it to my table . I had to get up from my table and ask a final time before I got it with rolled eyes as the server handed me what I asked for 10min before.
I was excited to see Peruvian Cuisine offered locally, but they were ultimately disappointing. I ordered the "Pollo a lo Pobre," and it took them literally 25 minutes to complete my order, which they explained by telling me that they had to change the oil in the kitchen. Yet, the chicken was insanely overcooked to the point of a leathery quality, and the fries were like lumps of moist potatoes. Even the rice came off as clumpy and plain, and the egg was just obviously overdone to the point where I had to struggle to cut it with a knife. I've had good Peruvian food before... but this was not it. To their credit, the plantains were decent, and the Maracuya was a refreshing beverage, but I have to wonder why they are still in business if this is the fare they offer. 2/10; I don't think I'm planning to go back anytime soon. The lady was really nice about it, though, hence the full-stars for service. Also, my meal cost $30.00. That's a lot of money to be spent on disappointment.
Horrible customer service. We waited a few minutes before being acknowledged at all, the waitress didn’t even say hi, she barely talked. I ordered lomo saltado flavor was great but it had only a few pieces of meat, my boyfriend ordered chicken and they were out of chicken! It was only 3:30 pm. I ordered picarones and the guy who made the was on break so we could not get them. I don’t think we’ll be back, keep in mind they have a B from health department too.
I had dined here years ago and sadly this place has lost its touch. This was my first time going after the pandemic and ordered what used to be our favorite dishes. The Lomo Saltado’s meat was dry and hard. There was no juice in the meat. For the Ceviche Mixto, they did not let the fish marinate in the lemon juice long enough before serving, it was still raw. The lemon juice was bitter and not tasteful at all. The onion used to be sautéed in this lemon juice, which is now just plainly served on top with zero taste whatsoever. The Maracuyá drink had a bitter aftertaste like when drinks are about to go bad. I brought this all to the owners attention and she sadly was like oh ok. The service was BAD! The waitress was busy gossiping that not once did she check on us. I sadly no longer recommend this place.
First time trying their food .. but not happy when i asked for double salad... they gave me only 2 pieces of tomatoe... and one little piece of cucumber is that a salad!? and... a "salad" on the side that was only lettuce nothing else.. cmon! 😕 not again for me ...
Was exited to eat at a Peruvian restaurant but the food was disappointing. It lack flavor, felt dried and not fresh at all. Specially disappointed of the price for what we got. Each plate is around $20 - $30 plus drinks. Very expensive and not the best food. The drinks of Maracuya were just the flavor because felt like water with maracuya powder. Thes plce was clean and a little bit dark. The waiter was really nice.
Food is good. But the food tray for to go orders is some type of cardboard. All the juices soak into the tray. Also there is little meat with the dish! Guess I’ll order extra meat next time? Onions for days!!! $60 for lunch, disappointing.

Terrible experince. Place dirty dark bathroom horrible celling almost falling off...i ask if they have jalea and the laydy respond look at the menu...we order pollo. And theres no pollo ...i order orroz chaufa was terrible. And biste a lo pobre full of friesand get over cook i will never go back.
Bad smell inside, it's open and the food isn't ready. Staff had a bad attitude
I was really disappointed with the service. I went to dine in and I didn’t see any sign saying “Wait to be seated “ my husband and I sat down. A few minutes later two other guys walked in and sat down at another table. The waitress came over to the two men first to give them a menu. The waitress then came over to our table with no menu’s in hand and asked if we were waiting for more people to join us, I said no it’s just my husband and I. She then mentioned that the table was for six people and we were only a party of two. I said so are not able to sit here and she said what if I have a party of six come in and they want to sit here. I was shocked. I said you have 15 empty table that they can sit at. With this type of service I got up and walked out! I will NEVER go back to El Rico Pollo again. Service is horrible and the prices are ridiculous.
Went to this place, ordered the drinks, appetizers, and entree's 20 minutes to get 1 entree. Didn't get anything else. There was only 6 tables on Saturday night & 2 were done eating. 2 servers & they told me they were short people on 4 tables. My wife's birthday too! Not ever again in my lifetime. Went to red lobster it was packed and we still got great service.
Very slow service. It was only two of us in the whole place and the server(maybe owner) took like 15 minutes to get us water we repeatedly let her know we were ready to place our order, came when she wanted it. About 50 minutes to get out food, we are still the only two in the whole place, then food was bland, no flavor whatsoever on either dish. My fiance got his food on to go containers and when we told her it was for dinner in she told us her and the other staff didn't want to wash dishes and since I got a soup that was the only reason I got a bowl and real spoon. NEVER GOING BACK, DON'T WATER YOUR TIME OR MONEY. NOT WITH IT!!! Place can't use more lighting also, we went around 4:40 and we had to use it cell phone light to read the menu. Go to Red Oaks in Lima Lindda instead. Same style of food, way better and not to far from this place.☹️☹️☹️
Lazy ppl attend here very expensive for the small portion they are rude at times I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone if you would like to a real 5 star Peruvian restaurant I would recommend pollo inka ,cholitos, rocoto,Mario's, aje e limón, real good places worth it
Update: The quality on food has gone down and the service has always been very slow but now it's way more slow. Honestly upsetting for a place that at one point used to be delicious. Unfortunately, a place I will no longer be going to. Old Review: Authentic Peruvian Food. Because of it being authentic and well prepared, it takes time to prep your meal. Showed up to order chicken and they said they didn't have none, that I should've ordered it ahead of time. First time I go to a peruvian restaurant and they ask me to order chicken ahead of time. But should've figure since the place seemed like it doesn't have much business.
I ordered a Jalea and it was undercooked. I asked if I could order something else and the lady said no and said she was gonna charge me for my plate. The service was bad. The lady wasn’t very kind or welcoming.
Terrible service, terrible server, she would disappear and never check on us! The ceviche was over cooked in lime juice and tough. I’ve been to many Peruvian restaurants and this one is my least favorite. Save your money and go elsewhere.
