This place is the best Italian food in south county. The tortellini is always the star of the show for me. The sauce is fantastic if you have a preference for cream sauces like I do. If not, the penne is simple and the marinara is probably the best I've had from anywhere not named L&B Spumoni Gardens in Brooklyn. My favorite salad is the chopped salad. It's simple but always hits the spot. The wait time is always a guess, especially on the weekends but it's worth it. Staff is always nice even when they're slammed.
Guichos Eatery’s north location is conveniently located near Sprouts, right off the freeway, in San Clemente. Parking is never a worry, as the lot is quite big. The girls who work behind the counter are always pleasant and welcoming! My wife and I like that the establishment offers both indoor and outdoor seating options. Guichos spin on sit-down-style food, prepared fresh and fast, is genius. My wife loves the tortellini while I enjoy the meatball sub. We’re always impressed with the taste of the dishes we order.
Great food !!

11/11/24 - updated to 5/5 We’ve eaten here too many times to count. - Chopped chicken salad (no eggplant, no garbanzo beans) - 3 cheese ravioli. Tomato cream sauce - ask for it. It’s pricey, but we keep coming back. —— Previous 4/5 Take out only so gave atmosphere only 3*. Chopped salad is great. We enjoy their pastas as well. Haven’t had a bad dish yet, after going 10x. We are locals so have been here a lot. Prices are getting steep for takeout, that’s why it’s not 5*.
We get take out here often. The food is excellent and the staff delightful. Favorite dishes are the lasagna, chopped salad, Mediterranean salad, the marsalas, risotto, and just about any pasta and sauce combo. The pasta is done perfectly and the sauces are yummy.
We get take out and it is always a treat and reasonably priced. I love the Tortellini. It is a garlicky tomato cream sauce and a little ham. It is the best
I am a huge meatball sandwich snob. The vast majority of Italian places just miss the mark. This place sets the bar high. The bread is the perfect size and shape, the sauce is spot on, and the meatballs are the perfect size and texture. You can pick it up and eat it and while I make two meals out of most restaurant portions I have never been able to stop eating one of these.
awesome Italian place. so affordable while being so delicious. we have ordered twice and will be coming back weekly. got the spaghetti and meatballs ( they give 5 meatballs!!!) for $11.50, what a deal. their chopped salad is perfect and the chicken noodle soup is so good. we also order the linguine with tiger shrimp. that was so good!
Guichos is our absolute favorite Italian takeout spot. This place does takeout like a pro, and their food is always incredible. I highly recommend Guichos for lunch, dinner, or catering a party. Has been a staple in San Clemente forever with great service and great food.
Best quality italian food around. Huge portions on Salads and Pasta. Sandwiches are all amazing!
The Food was delicious, we were made aware the wait time on the food would be about 30 minutes. WELL WORTH THE WAIT! even though my Wife's foot got stuck on the table and she took a painful fall, she said it was great.
WOW! This place is sooooo good. I crave the meatball sandwich it’s that delicious. They are always happy to help out when you arrive too and it’s super easy to just pick up. Honestly, this place is gold.

I loved this restaurant a few years ago so I decided to make the drive recently. The food was okay, not as flavorful as it used to be but still tasty

We love it here, the food is really good. The staff is always nice. I get gluten free noodles when I get pasta. Grandson devoured a meatball sandwich yesterday.. Salads are great and fresh. Lost a point because a couple of times, which was two times out of 10, wasn't happy with my take out pasta order, it was all watery. We have never been disappointed in the restaurant.
I love this place but after I actually looked at the meatballs without the sauce on it today I noticed it was at least 50% rice… super not cool using a bunch of filler when you think you’re getting protein

We called for a take out order- they told us on the phone it would be 45 minutes. To play out safe, we went an hour later to pick up. Our food was not ready- and we had to wait another 45 minutes! 2 hours after we had ordered! And… no apology. No offer of anything to make it better. The food was good… but the customer service has resulted in us never ordering or catering from them again.

I know a lot of others will disagree with my review but, this is my honest review of this place. I ordered the Lasagna with Sausage which was $14.50. It was far from an actual Lasagna. Lasagna are layered with pasta sheets, ricotta, sauce, cheese, and meat. This Lasagna was one sheet of pasta in the bottom with lots of ricotta, sauce, and sausage crumbles. Nothing close to what Lasagna is supposed to be! Secondly, the portion size was ridiculously small for the price paid. I've gone to many other Italian restaurants, even fast food Italian, where the portions were much larger for the same price or LESS with a much better Lasagna. I can't recommend this place even though many others like it.
Not sure if my Fusili is supposed to be sitting in a pool of pasta water or not. Was hoping it would be a sauce but my pasta was doing synchronized swimming. If this is how it’s supposed to be served, I’ll be more than glad to change my review.
The fettuccine Alfredo tastes so bland and so watery. You’d think that the food would be good after waiting 40+ minutes.

The wait time here is unacceptable and the snippy cashiers couldn't care less. The food is okay, but definitely not worth the 35 minute wait. I was quoted 25 minutes initially, and then 35minutes because I took the time to look over the menu. I could have bought a bottle of decent wine for what I paid for a glass. I left looking for somewhere to grab a quick bite.
Food was very good but the restaurant ownership are just jerks. Head cook named Marcelo has terrible customer service. I have two small kids and we decided last minute on a Saturday to wait 25 min for take out. While waiting I asked for a paper plate to feed our 2-year-old a cookie. One paper plate. Marcelo stopped the young staff member from handing me a paper plate because we weren’t customers and was super dismissive of me. Never mind that we just spent $40 on pasta and we’re patiently waiting. Surprised this place can’t give out a paper plate to the community even if they weren’t spending $40. Super rude and ruined the atmosphere. Rest of the staff seemed great. Even if they do get a lot of people asking for paper plates that seems like a great problem. 100 people coming in to your door for the price of a paper plate is great marketing. You can't pay for that price of foot traffic. Only reason I saw this place was on my way to buy a cookie. GIVE THE PAPER PLATES AWAY! Phew!
Pregnant woman and elderly BEWARE! My pregnant sister and I dined at Guicho’s Eatery (next to Sprouts in South Orange County) yesterday. We shared the Shrimp Alfredo and the Meatball Marinara, and within hours we were both extremely ill. This was especially concerning given her pregnancy. When I called the restaurant today to notify them, the staff member I spoke with simply said their kitchen is “super clean” and implied it must have been something else we ate. No concern, no investigation, no refund — nothing. For reference, under California Health & Safety Code §114411, restaurants are legally required to ensure food is safe for human consumption. When a consumer suffers a suspected foodborne illness, it is a matter of public health, not just customer service. Because of the risk to vulnerable individuals, I have filed a formal complaint with the Orange County Health Care Agency – Environmental Health Division so this incident can be properly investigated. I would strongly advise caution if you are considering dining here, particularly if you are pregnant, elderly, or immunocompromised.
