This restaurant came highly recommended by a local. Our visit on a rainy night was absolutely amazing! We were warmly greeted by our server who welcomed us to take any seat. She was very friendly and attentive. The food was incredible and arrived quickly. We were given fresh baked bread and had the pollo millegusti and the pollo special with tomato, spinach, and fontina. The restaurant is decorated nicely, bathrooms are spotless, and there is plenty of paid parking in the back ($4 for one hour). We will definitely go back and would recommend Arrivederci to everyone!

We came in on Valentines day (saturday) and had a great time. The place was a little hectic because of the holiday and there was a line out the door so we had to wait a while even though we had a reservation. Once we were seated though the service was amazing! Our server Julio was very kind and attentive even though it was busy and all of our food was delicious and came out promptly. The lobster ravioli was very rich and creamy and the squid ink linguine was unique and cooked to perfection. We'll definitely be back on a less busy night, there were so many good looking dishes on the menu and all the staff was great!

Excellent food. They were also kind enough to make a small plate of fettuccine Alfredo for my daughter even though it wasn’t on the menu. Very authentic and delicious!

Can't say enough great things about this place! Best Italian restaurant ever! The sauces are amazing!

All dishes are good, but if you want to take a recommendation try the Risotto Nero. If you want to get some sweets, they have real Cannoli.

I had the pleasure of dining at Arrivederci yesterday and enjoyed the pizza Golosa. It was one of the best pizzas I've eaten in years! The staff was friendly and the overall service was excellent. I will definitely return soon.

This place is hands down the best Italian in San Diego and quite possibly the best Italian I have had. Everything is homemade, and the service is a 10. I never waited for anything. I come to SD often but have always missed coming. My sisters were also in town, so we went last night. They loved it so much that they returned for lunch today on their way to the airport. If you're in SD visiting or, even better, you live there, do not miss this place.

Delicious traditional Italian food with quick service, cozy atmosphere, very reasonable prices, ample portions, nice presentation. The caesar salad was fresh, with shaved parmesan; the pasta primavera had many fresh vegetables, rich cream sauce, spinach and egg fettucine; chicken pasta had fresh peas and mushrooms. We had enough leftover for breakfast!

M
Manuella Chimello

We absolutely loved this restaurant! One of the freshest pastas I’ve ever had, and the service was fast and great. Plus, the prices are very fair! We’re definitely coming back!

The best Italian in SD in my opinion, been going here 15+ years and still love it and always something new. My daughter LOVES their minestrone and no other restaurants come close.

We’ve been coming here for more than 20 years. Authentic, delicious dishes and great service (some of whom are native Italians). Great seating outdoors with people watching. Cozy and quaint. Never goes out of style.

Undeniably the best Italian restaurant in San Diego. I was born and raised in New York and am of sicilian descent and have been to Italy multiple times and Arriverderci is the BEST. I’ve been a loyal customer for 11 years and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. Thank you!!!!

A great authentic Italian restaurant! It has a feel for an Italian restaurant in the city of Napoli! I had the rigatoni Bolognese with mascarpone.

I had a really excellent lunch here. I feel like the quality is very high, yet the pricing is also more than reasonable. They have gluten free penne pasta too. I'm definitely coming back!

What a fun new restaurant for our family. Classy atmosphere, all the servers were great. Wood fired pizza was a bit off the beaten path I terms of ingredients.

OMG Amazing!!!! The staff so awesome! The host spotted me checking out the shop and he read my mind... hell yeah I want some homemade pizza! Snagged that veggie with the eggplant. So beautiful!

Very nice place. Came here for a lunch date and was impressed with the pollo dish. My wife ordered capellini arrabbiata con pollo which was pretty good as well

J

Updating my review (Adding a Star)! Great food and fantastic service! Tried the Penne Chicken Arrabbiata (substituted with Angel hair pasta). The chicken breast pieces were very juicy and the sauce was perfectly balanced (between spicy, but not too spicy). The pasta tasted fresh; very large portion. Really enjoyed the fresh bread too, nice crunchy outside and sense but moist inside. Can't speak well enough of the great service; very authentic "family feel". Looking forward to coming back to try something new!

These are the best artichokes I have ever eaten. Actually this is the best thing I've eaten in a really long time. I'm obsessed with these. They are so soft they melt in your mouth. Yum!!!

K

First and foremost there is a parking lot next to the restaurant for which they validate. That is significant in San Diego! For dinner most days if you arrive before 5:45pm or so then you won't have a problem finding parking or getting a table. I've been to Arrivederci twice now, and both times I had an excellent experience. The waiters were extremely helpful and professional, and the food was delicious. If you're not sure what you're in the mood for then ask the waiter and (s)he will have the right recommendation for you. My favorite meal is the Mezzelune All'aragosta. It is handmade ravioli stuffed with lobster and topped with cream sauce. I don't know if I'll have the strength to try anything else on the menu because I like this meal so much. However my fiance has has tried a few things on the menu, and according to him everything has been excellent. Also you must, must, must ask for the "Italian ice cream" for dessert. I had the coffee flavor and it is wonderful! It's essentially ice cream with a crunchy topping and chocolate sauce. I highly recommend.

I was visiting family in San Diego. We were looking for Italian food in the area. We were pleasantly surprised by this little restaurant. The food came out quickly. Amazing food. The crust is amazing and flavorful. My ravioli was phenomenal. I think we have a new family favorite for when we visit again.

Overall great experience. Service was exceptional, our server was very personable and handled some inconvenience with finesse. The eggplant appetizer and minestrone in particular were standouts; the entrees didn't live up to quite the same standard, but were still delicious. Appreciated the patio area and being allowed to have a dog, though it was a little cold/windy as the evening went on (obviously the restaurant doesn't control the weather! But bring a jacket if sitting outside).

This is my first time there some friends and I decided to go there to eat after hanging out at a bar on a Sunday afternoon. In my opinion this is a true Italian restaurant that serve wine. I have no problem eating there again.

I had one of the best lasagna in my life! The place is quite cozy and offers amazing and authentic Italian food. It is a lite bit pricey but it definitely worth it! The wine menu is also great!

S

I’ve been here several times. I wanted to come a few times before I wrote a review. The staff is very very friendly and it adds to the experience overall. The cost is quite reasonable for the the thoughtfully prepared delicacies of Italy. Plus the wine selection is spot on. Not so many choices that you feel intimidated but enough breadth of a selection to cover all bases. Yum! With the food being so delicious and the friendly staff I’m actually shocked that this place doesn’t have a line down the street. You be happy you came to Arrivederci!

My favourite restaurant in San Diego!! EVERYTIME it’s 5 stars!! The service is impeccable and feels as though you are part of the Family. Spaghetti Vongole isn’t on the menu but they will always make it fresh for us. You NEED to visit.

Our servers were so polite and kind to us, they answered all of our questions and the food was just out of this world! Also paired well with a great wine selection. Thank your staff for the incredible evening!

One of my favorite spots to eat while in Hillcrest. They have the best mushroom ravioli and the red sauce to dip the bread needs to be sold so I can have it all the time.

Delicious food, perfect for a date night, tasted like I was back in Italy! Definitely recommend the Caesar! Service was impeccable, delicately balanced the Italian conversational/social aspect of a meal and the US timeliness of meals. Prompt but not pushy, perfectly timed. Will be back.

The best Italian restaurant I’ve been to in a while. The server and other staff were amazing and attentive. We ordered carbonara, paglia e fieno al pesto, pollo giardino and gnocchi and it was all amazing. Not a bad dish in sight. Will definitely be coming back next time I’m in San Diego.

The real deal! Having lived in Italy many years I'm always skeptical of eating at Italian restaurants in the usa, I usually avoid them. However, I am so thrilled to have taken the chance and tried this place. The food transported us back to Italy. The gnocchi was so soft and fluffy, the Linguine Mediterraneo in white wine was so fresh letting all the natural flavor shine through and the crispy Artichokes with garlic and fried basil were a favorite too. I can't wait to come back here and try more of their dishes! Hats off tothe chefs!

If you're not ready for this place, don't come! You will get addicted! If you want amazing Italian food, this place will knock your socks off! First time I came here I didn't know about pork asobuco I gave it a 4 star. Came back again and ordered this dish, I was sold. The pork was so tender and juicy. It melted in my mouth. The sauce was flavorful. My friend ordered ravioli- amazing! If you're looking for an appetizer to share, please get the fried calamari. Hands down the best calamari I have had! Servers were friendly and extremely attentive. I will come back over and over again.

Highly authentic, homestyle Italian cuisine. Little Italy has the flashy, modern Italian places. For old-world flavor and friendly service, come here. Their specials are innovative and pair well with a cold Peroni.

The food, the servers, the atmosphere, I don't think anywhere else could top this place. This is one of the best meals I ever had. This deserves higher than a 5 star.

Ooooh just amazing!! I was craving some good and authentic italian cuisine , which I was not able to find in San Diego so far.. there are “good” places, but.. just always missing something. Growing up in Europe close to Italy I was there often and in my hometown we also have several Italian restaurants. Let me tell you Arrivederci is the real deal! I was searching on google for Italian restaurants and when I saw the pizza in one of the pictures I knew it had to be good. Decided to make the drive out here and I’m so happy. The atmosphere was great, people talking (also in Italian - now I was sure I made the right choice), laughing, the service friendly and knowledgeable, and the food? So tasty 🤤 Caprese & warm bread as appetizer and then amazing risotto! If you are thinking about going - do it. Thanks again and I will sure be back and highly recommend! PS: if you paid attention I came for pizza which is in their other location 😅 next time!

Delicious and authentic Italian food! Our favorite is the tortellini with ham and peas in a creamy sauce. This last time I got the fusilli creamy pesto with chicken and mushrooms which was amazing! Soft but present pesto taste. My husband always goes for the squid ink pasta with shrimp in a creamy sauce. The atmosphere feels like you're eating in an intimate restaurant in the outskirts of Venice. Plentiful wine list as well.

We take our Aunt to eat here at least once per month. She has been eating here with her friends for the past 20 years. We always order the roasted artichoke hearts, a must have. This evening she had the veal piccata, I had the burrata cheese ravioli with walnuts and cream sauce. Delicious. Excellent service, as always.

M

This is THE spot to visit for amazing Italian food in San Diego. I have yet to find a better pasta place around town, even in Little Italy. Every dish I’ve tried here has been tastier than the last. However, if you’re looking for something classic, I highly recommend the cheese ravioli with momma Rosa sauce. Plus, the prices for the quality and portion sizes can’t be beat. The waiters are always helpful and friendly and restaurant has a quaint, cozy feel to it. This place is a Hillcrest staple with both this spot and the pizzeria location down the street. Be sure to stop by for some delicious pasta.

Fantastic! I came here from a recommendation, checked the Google reviews and have to say that this was excellent food, wonderful flavor, served hot, with excellent service. Priced very reasonable and with a cozy atmosphere. Parking lot right next door is validated by Arrivedeci. I enjoyed the Caesar Salad and the Pollo Sorronno. See the pictures. I arrived at opening and by the time I left it was continuing to fill. A great place that I will look to visit again when in San Diego.

One of the best Italian Restaurants in Hillcrest. I highly recommend this restaurant for a Date night or enjoy a meal with family and friends. Almost everything is delicious. Customer service is 10/10. Price is very reasonable for the portion that they serve. The dessert is delicious 😋🤤.

Our go to place for fabulous Italian food in a festive setting. They have a regular menu and a menu of the day, which doesn’t change much from day to day. The fried calamari and zucchini appetizer portion was large and the frying was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The black linguine with bay shrimps in cream sauce was great. It’s slightly sweeter than expected, but that’s just the way I like it. The waiter who helped us was energetic, friendly, and made the meal very pleasant.

The deep fried calamari with zucchini is super (appetizer). My risotto is so salty. I am not use to salty food. However, my daughter’s mushroom raviola is also really good. We could not finish our main dish.

This place is delicious, me and my wife would go together every weekend when we were dating. The food is good, its relatively quiet most days. I've recommended this spot to my family and they all like it too. I used to live in Italy and make some pretty damn good pasta too. But this place 10/10 would go here for a meal when I feel like not cooking and want something on the same level of what I would make.

Good friends invited us here for an authentic Italian meal. The casual atmosphere was perfect for the occasion and our server, Julio, was friendly, attentive and answered all our questions about the menu. Nice wine list with good value Chianti options. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Without a doubt the best Italian Restaurant I've ever been to. Came here with a group of friends and tried a lot of different foods. All of it was amazing and unique. The pasta was out of this world. We had a delicious meal here, with a great atmosphere and reasonable pricing. The service great, albeit a bit slow, but it was a Saturday night right at dinner time, and there wasn't an empty seat in the place, so that is to be expected somewhat.

It had been quite some time since I’d last visited Arrivederci but I remembered loving the food. That hasn’t changed with this visit. We went for a work lunch the other day and were served by Giuseppe, a true Italian who conversed in Italian with one of my coworkers. He was warm and friendly while providing excellent service. I had the lasagna and it practically melted in my mouth. Absolutely amazing. All of my colleagues enjoyed their meals as well. It got quiet once the dishes came which is a good sign that the food is excellent. My Italian coworker is kind of an Italian food snob and she loved everything too. We split some desserts to include Tiramisus, Cannolis, Pistachio something (can’t remember the name). All of it was excellent. I’m not going to wait so long before going back for another visit! Highly recommend the food and Giuseppe as a waiter.

Great spot for Italian food for the price! went on a Sunday 6 pm and it was crowded - glad we made a reservation Best part was honestly the free bread which came with a slightly spicy but excellent marinara. Do your best at not getting full off the bread. We got the black linguine salmon and chicken parm which were both excellent and portions large enough to take home for seconds. One thing to note is despite what it says on website, they do NOT offer free parking.

Excellent service. The waiters are exceptionally quick, kind, and patient. Food comes out quickly, even on bush Saturday nights. The food itself was pretty good. They have a wide selection of pastas and meats, with a number of vegetarian options. They'll be happy to make a custom pasta for you (with reason, of course) to meet your needs. The atmosphere was regular for this kind of restaurant. People wear t-shirts and jeans, and there are brick walls and wooden chairs. This is a great place to bring young children, for a date, or a regular family night.

Real Italian food and service. Reservations recommended. The food is superb, and the prices are too. The menu selection has a variety of pastas, salads, and chef's specials. The serving sizes are plenty - you won't go away hungry! Outside seating is available with overhead heating if it is chilly outside. Street parking available nearby. You have to try this place for the best Italian in the city. Don't forget the good wine selection!

Not bad. The black linguine was pretty good. The shrimp in it was very good. Portions are big here. The menu on their website is wildly inaccurate.

Our calamari appetizer was tender and tasty. Bread was warm and inviting. If only we didn't have so much of it before the entrees arrived. (Mains were a linguine console and veal scallopini with capers and olives) Enjoyed it all...just did not leave room for dessert. Only was a photographer, tho at a distance was taking photos of the restaurant while we dined on the patio out front. That was just slightly distracting

The place was pretty busy. I recommend you make a reservation and give yourself time to find parking. The food was decent, but due to the cramped quarters I don't see myself returning. I ordered a stuffed chicken breast in a mushroom sauce that had a nice flavor. Just needed a little salt. The bread and marinera sauce they brought was nice, but the sauce was spicier than I'd like. I'm a wimp, what can I say! My son, who like me isn't into spicy, enjoyed it and polished off the marinera. My husband had the minestrone soup with basil. I sampled it and again felt it needed a little salt. My son ordered the squid ink linguine with mussels and salmon. He was very happy with his dish and claimed it was delicious. Service was busy......but they did a decent job attending to our needs

Cute little Italian place. Owner is very friendly, recommended vegetarian dishes to us. They took their sweet little time to get the food ready. Ravioli my kid ordered was very delicious, the sauce Mama Rosa was top notch. I ordered gnocchi with cheese sauce, really really good, my husband & daughter ordered penne pasta with eggplant, they liked it, tiramisu was great, my kids gobbled it up. It was too much food for us to finish. As it is in the heart of the city, we had to wait for parking for long & also it’s expensive (the parking & of course food) I’m just sad I didn’t get to try their coffee, some people did & it looked very tempting

This place is a nice quaint Italian restaurant. The waiter and the bus boy Did a fantastic job when it comes to making customer feel welcomed!! The food was so tasty, and worth every penny and more! Huge menu, actually two menus, one being the specials of the day. The special menu is larger than most regular menus at other restaurants. Fast service but plan on small tables. No wasted space in this cute little restaurant. Arrivederci's has been around for years and has been a staple for those wanting authentic Italian food. I had the pappardelle with smoked chicken and all kinds of wonderful things in a cream sauce. It was delicious! Two people in our party had goat cheese ravioli with tomatoes and spinach, also delicious. The grilled artichoke appetizer is definitely something to try.

The service and welcoming vibe makes this Italian restaurant extremely endearing. You feel like family and the food is what Italians do best--simple, hearty, and fresh. The atmosphere is cozy too. Also, grab a glass of wine! Great pours here. I had the Linguini Mediterraneo and Capellini Bosco Mare. Huge portions that will fill you up. For the Linguini Mediterraneo, I went with the white wine sauce and was simply delish. The Capellini Bosco Mare had angel hair pasta in a red sauce and shrimp. Between the two, I enjoyed the Linguini more from the texture contrast. It's right in Hillcrest so you can venture out to the gay bars nearby if interested too!

01/06/2026 Back again for more yummy Italian food! We ordered: -Caprese $14.50- a good starter. -Black Linguine $24.50- creamy delicious as I remembered. However, it needed a touch of salt. -Pork Ossobuco $34- my son loved it! -Cioppino $29- rich in flavor. Drinks: -Glass of wine $10.50 (forgot what my son ordered) Fast service, we enjoyed our experience here : ) Parking fee: $2 for 1/2 hr Best to street park or meter. 🦀🦀🦀 01-11-24 All the below dishes were yummy delicious! The ones with cream sauce were especially finger licking good. My Black Linguine, had it here many times; this time, every bite was fulfilling. The bread and the garlicky marinara sauce was a great starter. Food: 4.5/5 -Calamari & Zucchini Fritti $17.95 -Veal Ossobuco $35.95 -Mezzelune All’ Aragosta $22.95 -Panzotti $22.50 -Farfalle Vodka & Salmone $22 -Black Linguine $22.95 Drinks: -Wine $31 Service: Andrea brought everything we asked for, including our complimentary birthday tiramisu. We enjoyed our dining experience here and Andrea’s humor. Note: -If you choose to order wine, bring your own and pay the corkage fee, a lot less. -Pay parking lot adjacent to the restaurant or street parking.

Nothing stands out at this place. Food was prepared nice and hot, but the flavors are unremarkable. Canoli was nice.

Loud, crowded mess but real Italian feel nonetheless. Mediocre lasagna and other dishes were ok, service was on and off but slow.

I’m sure that this restaurant has some stellar offerings. Unfortunately, my pasta dish tonight was just so bad I can’t go higher than 3-stars. Our bruschetta starter was fresh and tasty with a surprise pesto layer that some purists may object to, but I certainly wouldn’t. I would object to the long strands of carrot shavings on the plate that were of no redeeming value. My dinner companions pasta was also pesto flavored with chicken, mushrooms, and sun dried tomato. It was served piping hot with plenty of sauce. Again, a tasty dish. My pasta was to be lobster-stuffed ravioli in a saffron-cream sauce. Sounds incredible, right? The plate arrived and was the most unsettling yellow. Yellow everywhere with virtually no other color present. This was particularly off-putting as it was to be a cream sauce...white last time I checked under a cow. What is more, there were six ravioli, not necessarily oversized and certainly not overstuffed drowning in the conspicuously yellow sauce. Turns out, the menu should have called it a hollandaise sauce, not a cream, for that is exactly what it was. Rather than a decadent lobster pasta, I was served a liquid Eggs Benedict. The straw that pushed this humpty-dumpty egg dish off the wall was that it was lukewarm. Please re-evaluate this dish! One last note: both dishes were sprinkled with carrot shavings. Why? I won’t say to avoid this restaurant, but order carefully. I won’t be back to try again.

As much as I would like to give them 1 star I don’t feel it’s fair. We came in on New Year’s, so I understand it’s pure chaos and not a normal night. With that being said. We arrived 15 minutes prior to reservation, they seated us immediately which was very nice. As soon as we sat down water and bread was brought over. The bread is amazing with their homemade sauce 10/10 would just come for the bread tbh. We placed our order within 15 minutes after ordering wine. Then we the wait began. 45 minutes later no food.. the table behind us that arrived 15-20 minutes after we place our food order received their food before ours. I spoke to someone about it and I believe they forgot to put our order in. I get that it’s crazy because of the holiday but how is it that other tables received their orders accordingly? After all said in done, they apologized but we wanted it to go as we had plans. They comped the tiramisu to go which was delicious but the experience will cause us to likely not return. Truly a shame after all the amazing reviews online, we just happened to have a bad experience. Maybe one day we will try it again, till then Arrivederci.

We expected a little better from the food, the ambiance and servers are pretty nice! The food tho... the carbonara was SO salty and greasy, I feel like they overdid it on the bacon and the lobster ravioli first of all it wasn’t HALF moon like the description said, just a regular ravioli and the saffron sauce was too thick and overshadowed the lobster, the food was not bad but honestly UNDERWHELMING. The soup was good, they had a bold take on it which was pesto in it. Wouldn’t really come back but it’s worth trying.

We went there yesterday. the food was so good and the service was great too. Sadly, 3 out of 4 people in our party got sick. we are not sure what it was, since the only thing we shared was bread and the sauce…

Food was delicious but the service wasn’t good and is been like that the last 4 times I’ll been there, but yesterday make me sad the we ask for a birthday cake for my niece and they never bring it also we done with eating and we ask for long time for the check. I’m not going to take anyone for a birthday diner.

I was excited to go to a local Italian place! I got gluten free pasta.. my side was a loaf of gluten bread (I’m celiac) —they wouldn’t let me exchange it for anything else like, a salad.. bc they “forgot” I was celiac. I ended up just leaving and gave the bread to a homeless person after they tried to take it back….
