Quality sushi at a good price. Relaxed atmosphere and tucked away. Shrimp crunch roll is so good!
Excellent service, excellent food. My son brought me here just to try it out. I wasn’t expecting such high quality. Prices in line with area. Very clean, quiet. I will be back!!
I really love this little sushi spot. It always feels cozy to me and the waitstaff is very friendly. Try their lemon roll, you won't be sorry!
Great food and respectful people here, nice place, we will be back :)
Great food, fast service. Really nice all around.
Delicious and artistic sushi, nice atmosphere, cute waitresses.
Great price for the lunch specials and happy hours! The sushi are so succulent and fresh. The cooked salmon was also amazing. The service was also very nice, attentive and friendly. Left with a smile and a full belly.
The quality is Good and, excellent service. The staff has professional manners. The food is good. I' think its a reasonable price for food. I have no complaints about price to the actual taste. I and my friends will be coming back....
It was sooo good. The service is amazing and I love it! They know my order by heart and they are very nice! I come here every single week because of how amazing the food is!
Always fresh and oh so tasty! Not to mention they make beautiful rolls are and they are all very friendly.
This is a great place for lunch. Nice price and excellent quality and service. Can't wait to do dinner there.
Everything was pretty good, great food, great service, employee was polite, only waited a few minutes for food, and the atmosphere was nice, good decor and very peaceful. So glad we tried this place despite some negative reviews. My wife and I enjoyed a pleasant dinner
My favorite Chinese food in San Diego. They are open late and I get the Fried Garlic Green Bean Tofu dish or the Lo Mein Noodles. I miss the Bok Choy Mushroom dish, wish they would consider putting it on the menu again. They have some good vegetarian options. Pricing is reasonable and generous portions. Very rare these days.
Looking for a place that served late night food after visiting someone in the hospital we stumbled across this restaurant that was new to us but a well known establishment in the neighborhood. We found a small parking lot just beyond the restaurant that charges $2 for 30 minutes of parking. We ordered dishes that sounded familiar to us and it took about ten minutes for them to prepare our order. We headed home to divvy up our food and eat family style. We were pleasantly surprised with the portions, taste, and quality of everything we ordered. We look forward to trying out other dishes in the future.
AMAZING!! Best Chinese food I've had in my 8 years living in San Diego, we ordered the orange chicken, the combination fried rice and the Szechuan beef.. ALL 20/10! I could taste the fresh ingredients and they made the plates with a large quantity of protein I was so impressed. The orange chicken was the perfect ratio of chicken, batter and sauce and I could feel like this Chinese food wasn't greasy or overly salty. I absolutely loved this spot for take out and will definitely come back !!!!! ( in the photo is just 1 serving of all the stuff I ordered at home ) I ended up serving myself 3 times cause it was way too good! For reference I came on Saturday at 6pm so whoever was cooking 🧑🍳🫶👏🏻
First time here. Ordered salmon skin cut roll, crunch roll and seafood udon. Not bad, udon was quite tasty. Price is right, not too expensive. We came during off peek so the restaurant was not busy. Will return soon.
Solid Sushi spot! Nothing here that makes it worth driving to far for, but if you're in the area and craving a few rolls, the pricing and the AYCE option makes this a go to spot. My suggestion, avoid going in the middle of the afternoon. This spot closes for a break from like 2 to 4.
Great food and fast service. Stumbled on this place by accident. The staff is really friendly, and the food is both tasty and affordable. I would recommend it.
I was looking for late night eats and came across this gem of a place. Food was good and hot! I appreciate a spot that is open late not many are in San Diego, 3am is the latest I’ve ever seen a place open! Everything is served in to go boxes so if you wanna eat some there and take the rest home they make that easy for you to do so.
I’m not certain why the poor reviews. I’ve never had a problem and am always satisfied. I’m considering visiting today, Mother’s Day, for some good Chinese food! Convenient, and the hours allow for that late nite visit. My faves: broccoli beef in brown sauce, combo fried rice with extra bean sprouts. I like the spring rolls too!
The food was good but not the best I’ve had. We got our food to go. We were unsure if maybe there was some culture difference happening but the lady who originally took our order was a bit abrasive. Just not as friendly as I was in trying to interact with her. Maybe it was an off day 🤷🏻♀️. The atmosphere was mediocre. Large comfortable booths but the place had gnats and was “sticky”. It was cute visually. The price was kind of hefty but you get good portions.
Great hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant. The food was good, not great but still very good. I ordered a small hot & sour soup to start and it was delicious, they gave me plenty of crunchies too. For the main course I ordered the Kung Pao Triple Crown, which came with a small bowl of white rice. The dish had good flavor but I felt they went a bit overboard on the sauce. Had they played up the flavors of the shrimp, chicken, & pork the dish would have been better. Pricing is a little above average but certainly affordable. Overall I recommend this place for either dining in our take out. It's located in the heart of Hillcrest on Fourth St. BTW, I haven't seen anyone post the restaurant's menu so here goes....Enjoy!!
The service was attentive but the food was just ok, I will give it another chance when I'm in the area.
Place is good. Like the the happy hour specials that can be ordered at lunch. Like the seaweed salad and spicy rice.
While the ramen and hand roll sushi were delicious, it cannot excuse the horrible service. I was one of three customers yet the server never checked on me. I only saw him when I ordered and paid. I did at least get a chance to tell him about the piece of eggshell in my ramen. Apparently the chef that day was a substitute. The server apolojized, but I'm not sure that excuses a substitute chef that could have given a customer salmonella.
I realize it took me a good amount of time to arrive to pick up my order! However I very disappointed with several items, let's just say if, I'd ever decide to order anything from this establishment please cook my order fresh...rather not pay for some old refried egg rolls, shrimp, I know what fried too hard vs. refried to death and over grease absorbed!! Appetizer wasn't at all appetizing!! Mongolian beef and Wonton Soup..ok
My daughter got food poisoning from Matzugawa sushi and Chinese last night and we tried to call to warn them.... no answer. Beware!
I had been going to this place for a few years now frequently and it used to be good value for okay food to feed a family sushi. They recently made some changes. My recent visit had new chefs, an empty place and rearranged furniture and they got rid of there 24 hour happy hour menu. Maybe ownership change? The food has continued to get worse with sloppy rolls the last few times there and higher prices have pushed me away for good. They charge as if they are a top sushi restaurant serving high quality food with no imitation products in some of the rolls. I hope they read this and come back to reality
The worst service I have ever had in a restaurant. Nothing against the sushi chef, because once he got the order the rolls were fine. The two wait staff people were totally oblivious. We sat for half hour staring at the two of them as they brought out our meal one item at a time, then another half hour waiting for the rolls. People came in and ate and left while we sat there waiting for our food. We were just amazed how the two were so inattentive. When we finally lost our patience and went up to the counter and asked the waiter what was taking so long for our sushi rolls. He told us he didn't turn it in and he handed me another order sheet. Once we filled it out and gave it back he gave it to the chef like nothing was wrong. Then the waitress came by and asked if everything is ok. I told her what had happened and her response was "ok the chef has it now". No apology, no offer of a discount, just very non-pulsed. We will not be returning.
Ordered from uber. Specifically said “Extra,Extra soy sauce!” Didn’t get ANY soy sauce and the food tastes like it was cooked over a car exhaust. Never again. My god
WATCHOUT FOLKS! DO NOT EAT HERE! DO NOT EVEN TAKE IT TO GO! People who work here disrespect the clientele, my cousins and I were ordering food with a young Asian girl when her co-worker cut her off to “help” her with placing the order. A young Russian guy named Michyak, that was arguing on the phone with another customer, treated us so bad that we never want to come back. PAY ATTENTION OWNERS. We wanted to pay with my Apple-Pay that didn’t work, so, my other cousin paid the check with her Apple-Pay, minutes later when I fixed my Apple-Pay, we asked Michyak if I could pay with mine, his response was: “I’m not gonna do it” in a very aggressive contentious way. We explained that we only wanted to change the credit card, and he kept mumbling comments in a childish way that we honestly didn’t understand. It looked like he really hated his job. We asked him if there was a manager that could help us with that change, and he laugh and made fun of us saying out loud that his manager is sleeping and he won’t wake him up for this. WE NEVER UNDERSTOOD HIS ATTITUDE. Naturally, we said “fine” and accepted the food ‘cause it was paid already, we ignored his lack of respect. Once we got back home, we noticed he’s mistaken the order, gave us boneless wings instead of regular ones and beef instead of chicken. Once we came back to the restaurant he said in a very OBNOXIOUS manner “What now?” at that time the counter had a huge line of people complaining about their orders. We left the food at the counter cause Michyak did not offer a solution and came back to talk to the manager next morning. Henry the cashier did not apologize and said that he doesn’t believe us, but he knows that this kid has problems with all customers, which does not make any sense. He spoke 3 times with the manager named Mohammed in front of us, in the last phone call we finally got to talk to him. He promised he will give us the refund and store credit for the bad moment. Henry called us later that day saying that Mohammed, the manager, will not refund us even though the order was wrong, and we did not receive the food. THEY TOOK OUR MONEY AND NEVER GAVE IT BACK! SHAMELESS PEOPLE! We’ll be contacting the City of San Diego Compliance Office to report the violation of the Small Local Business Enterprise Program (SLBE) guidelines and setting up a claim to the California Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) www.dca.ca.gov. if any of the clients on Tuesday Oct 21st got their money stolen like ours, feel free to submit their complain on the City of San Diego website.
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! WRONG ORDER! ENTITLED CASHIER! MEANINGLESS MANAGER! HORRIBLE OWNER! My family and I went to grab some food to-go on Tuesday Oct 21st around 10:50pm, apparently the Asian lady that was taking the order in the counter didn’t hear English well so her co-worker, Michyak, jumped to help her. However, not only Michyak had a horrible attitude toward us but also have had an argument with some other customer by the phone while we were ordering. VERY TENSE AND UNPLEASENT MOMENT! Michyak showed his anger while we were choosing our food by giving us a hostile treatment and kept correcting us about dishes’ names and the way they are prepared, plus, he made clear that there are no refunds; therefore, pretty much he was making crystal-clear statements that the restaurant is a “take-it-or-leave-it” establishment, and they do what they want and how they want in terms of food and services. Of course, we said nothing, and went straight home because we didn’t want to create a scene out of it. Once at home, we noticed that instead of regular Chicken Wings they gave us Boneless Chicken Wings, and instead Chicken with Broccoli they gave us Beef with Broccoli. We went back to the restaurant to return the food. All Michyak’s answers were negative, not providing any solutions. He kept saying that his manager is sleeping and if we want the refund, we had to come back next day from 11am to 5pm to talk to the manager. WE LEFT THE FOOD RIGHT THERE IN THE COUNTER because it wasn’t what we ordered, and Michyak received it. Next day, we went back to the restaurant and talked to Henry, the manager, who called Mohammed, the owner, 3 times; they both said they don’t believe us. These two scammers told us to contact and sue our bank for the refund. THEY STOLE OUR MONEY, because we didn’t want to take the order that was completely wrong, and they didn’t want to give us the money back either. This place is a complete danger for customers in Hillcrest and IT SHOULDN’T BE IN BUSINESS. WATCHOUT CITY OF SAN DIEGO because this place hires young foreigners that are not fluent in the language who end up arguing with customers and charging the clientele for food they don’t receive. We’ll be filing a claim to the California Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) www.dca.ca.gov. PAY ATTENTION HILLCREST BUSINESS ASSOCIATION, this place conducts business not in good faith but with wrongdoings. IT IS A TOTAL SCAM.
Do not come here. The price does reflect the portions nor the execution of dishes. 20 dollars for what looks like 10 shrimp with the shells still on for walnut shrimp. Crispy beef that tasted like burnt oil. The cashier said that it was enough for 2 people to share which is wasn't. Waste or money.
This is the most backwards restaurant. From what I gather the people next-door took it over and are acting like they are the original owners. I think $.99 Chinese food would be 10 times better. My friend ordered iced tea and they brought hot tea. The waiter confirmed that’s what they are supposed to bring hot tea. So we had to ask for ice for the ice tea we ordered. We ordered chicken wings. They came out gray it smelt like the chicken had turned before they cooked it. I ordered hot mustard and they brought sandwich mustard. This was the worst experience at a restaurant. You pay when you order and there are not supposed to refund or exchange for something else. It’s a trapppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp
Oh No!!! What the heck happened here? Mommy’s favorite Chinese food restaurant, now under new management: RUINED HORRIBLE food, no taste at all, out of barbecue pork appetizer, no spicy mustard (they brought Dijon-mon Dieu!)no crisps for the soup, egg drop soup inedible, more protein in dishes, yes you didn’t have to dig and find Nemo-shrimp (I will give them that) but…but…NO FLAVOR AT ALL!!! No hot tea pots, shrimp bean sprouts tasted like cabbage, the noodles a joke, the special rice (again loaded with protein) but really, really bad…Mongolian beef? Don’t even bother. Shrimp tempura was the closest to the old place’s dish…but still very, very far. I have been going here since before we moved to Hillcrest, I used to brag about this little hole in the wall with great taste…sadly no more. What are we gonna eat December 24th?!?!😫 The new staff was courteous but lost and the check almost double what it used to be. The new decor is not even that great and the tables are still sticky. We even missed the old mean asian lady that used to throw napkins, straws and yelled at you if you asked to use the toilet.
This food was terrible, my partner heard really good things so we gave it a try but we won't be dining here again. I got the sweet and sour shrimp, but it was all deep fried breading. It seems like they put extra breading to conceal really tiny overcooked shrimp, even scaling away the batter the shrimp were like rubber and couldn't be eaten. I just ate the pineapples out of the dish to be honest. The fried rice was decent but really covered in oil so we couldn't finish it. I also got chicken egg rolls and biting into them oil literally dripped into my mouth, when I took it out and squeezed it, oil pooled around my finger. I forgot what my partner got but he can eat pretty much anything and even he admitted it was a mistake. Eat at your own risk.
