So happy we decided to try this place! It will definitely be added to our dinner rotation. The food is fresh and flavorful and you can get a little bit of everything. We each got a bowl with chicken, beans, rice, cucumber salad, veggies and three amazing sauces. Great price for the generous portion you receive. Highly recommend!

Food was excellent and very friendly service. Hefty portions, I got the rice as base and all the included toppings. Very hearty, good balance of fresh and spice. I got half spicy*. Didn't bother with posting a picture because all the pictures are for the same one dish they offer haha. Only $15 bucks a bowl. And good for 2 meals unless you're super hungry.

Great food! They cook everything in olive oil! Hope they keep up the quality.

The store in OB and the pop up at the OB market are normally really good. The pop up at the PB market gave me a very small portion of food, and had several strains of hair I noticed about five bites in and chicken had no flavor. Not sure what the deal was. *UPDATED 5/7/25 - The pop up at the PB Market is unaffiliated with the actual Chicken Over Rice company. I recommend not shopping with them, head to OB and get the legit companies food. Always bomb!*

I love this place, the simple menu, the speed, the taste - 5/5. Kind of the perfect meal with the carbs, protein and a bunch of fiber / probiotics that makes it even tastier.

We’re so glad chicken over rice is in ob permanently. The chicken is so tender and a good serving and u love the sauces. The owner is always kind and it’s vibrant inside. My partner loves the chickpea bowl too. We go at least once a week to get our fix.

So glad that we happened upon this restaurant while visiting Ocean Beach. The food was so flavorful and delicious! We were only in town for two day, and we ended up eating at Chicken Over Rice both days. It was that good!

This food is absolutely delicious! You can instantly tell that it was made with love and healthy ingredients. The chicken is so tender and seasoned to perfection, while the rice is light and fluffy, melting in your mouth. Top it all off with their refreshing cucumber salsa and you have a nutrient-dense meal made with clean, healthy ingredients. I highly recommend giving them a try - you won't regret it. Plus, the staff is always friendly and provides excellent service with a smile.

Discovered by chance one day and now is our family go to when in San Diego. Food is excellent in taste, quality, portion and value. The staff is super friendly and quick. If you are sick of feeling disappointed by eating out lately, hit this place up and discover a real gem. Highly recommend.

I’ve come here for a quick meal & it’s never disappointed. But, I just recently had them cater a small gathering & it was an absolute hit! They were very responsive & had great options to choose from. The price is very reasonable, ordering was super simple, & they had everything ready exactly on time. They gave me everything I needed - utensils, bowls, serving spoons, all the sauces. Everyone at the gathering loved it & requested it for future meetings.

Great Place to eat in Ocean Beach. My favorite is the chicken over rice extra proteins. Everything is healthy and the service is amazing. I highly recommend it!!

I am very hard to impress. This bowl is so full of flavors that are in complete harmony. Bright, herbaceous, layered, interesting, delicious. Every ingredient is prepared perfectly and could stand alone, but the whole really is more than the sum of its parts. So yummy. I am halfway through my first ever chicken over rice bowl (I made no substitutions, ordered it as it is listed) and I am contemplating having it for lunch tomorrow. Brilliant. Healthful. A real treat.

This is one of those essential places every neighborhood needs. It’s a quick, nutritious and delicious meal. No thought required, no decisions to be made. Just good food. Every time I order food here (chicken over rice, go figure) I am never disappointed. Each topping adds its own character to the dish, each bite is unique and packed with flavor.

Blows chipotle out of the water. Huge serving sizes. I think the best part is that the ingredients are super fresh and plentiful. My new lunch favorite. Simple, quality, flavorful ingredients. Their pita is sweet & soft. I always get their spicy chicken over rice. Always consistent flavor, consistent serving portions on all their delicious toppings. They always have good music playing and their team is friendly. The serving is too big for me, so I always end up with leftovers so it makes their $17 worth it for me.

Since they’ve been a huge hit on the local San Diego farmers market scene since 2016, I was very excited to experience their first storefront that opened right here in OB earlier this year. They blend traditional Mediterranean flavors with the essence of health and freshness. In their bowls you have the option of rice, salad or pita as the base. I chose rice and then added everything on it (chicken, chickpeas, lettuce, onion, parsley, cucumber salsa, hot sauce, pepperoncini, and tzatziki sauce). It was absolute 🔥🔥🔥!!! 🙏👍 Sooooooo good!! It had the perfect balanced blend of flavorful proteins, vegetables, and grains. Now I can’t wait to try their salad and pita options. I’ll definitely be heading back really soon. *You can also custom order a vegetarian version. Update 2: Yesterday during the rain I went back over to Chicken Over Rice Co. to try another version of their bowls. With their bowls you have the option of rice, salad or pita as the base. Last time I had the rice bowl and it was delicious! If you’ve walked along sunset cliffs in the heat and worked up an appetite… this is the place to go! The excitement to dig in overpowered the temptation to take a picture of the food; that’s how yummy. Grilled chicken over rice with chickpeas, onions, greens and much more! Instagram didn’t eat first today! If you’re in the mood for a light lunch then definitely share a bowl! Affordable and healthy. Didn’t feel overly full or sluggish but I may have taken a two hour nap after a little bit more sun… kept me full for about 6 hours. Nice music and wonderful customer service. Can’t wait to go back!

Went to their San Diego food market pop up, good flavor but just small amount of chicken was given. Bowl was filled more with rice and a small amount of salad, their display shows a bowl full of chicken. Shawarma express just across had larger portions of chicken at the same price.
