Cloak and Petal is a vibe, atmosphere, food, and service all create a unique dining experience that never misses. 10/10 always recommend.
This place was so good! I was recently diagnosed with celiac disease and eating my favorite foods has been hard. I noticed they had gluten free options and had to try it out! The ambience is really fun! We had Carla as our server and she was wonderful!!! Made sure everything I was ordering was safe for me to eat, brought me gluten free soy sauce before I even ordered, and let us know there’s a gluten free poznu sauce! She also let us know about 2 gluten free desserts, one was a matcha Crème brûlée and it was so good! The other was an ube cheesecake. The food was so good I can’t wait to go back and try more options! The best part, I didn’t get glutened! Can’t wait to bring friends next time!!!
The place is so cute! It’s beautifully decorated and the vibes/music are really enjoyable. Great sushi for a great price. The saucy boi is really good and comes with a lot of pieces. The drink options are fun and different. Highly recommend this place for a good sushi and vibes!
My partner and I were in San Diego after going to Julian and I had this place saved from TikTok. Absolutely worth all of the hype. The food is probably some of the best sushi and pork belly I have ever had. The atmosphere was electric and everyone on the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. I cannot recommend this place enough to anyone traveling through or maybe even locals!
Very cool space. You can tell they care about aesthetics here. The carefully curated, hip-hop influenced pieces of art set the tone & match the music, an incredible playlist that we were all singing along to. The food was top tier. We got sushi & wings... immaculate. Anime playing on the TV screens... what more could you ask for? 10/10
Ordered: NA Bev. - The Samantha & Cold Brew Food- Miso soup, edamame, kamikaze roll, hamachi toro and a couple other rolls I’ve forgotten the name of. The quality of the ingredients were great, awesome flavor profiles and simple but thoughtful plating presentation. The vibe of the restaurant is very cool. Will definitely be back
This place is great. Went with 3 coworkers for an early dinner before the start of a conference. Happy hour deals are great. We really liked the garlic edamame, gyoza and shishito pepper starters. All the rolls were yummy, but a unique standout was the one with bacon crumbles on top. The atmosphere is unique and fun. It’s is lively enough to feel modern and exciting, but not so loud that we couldn’t enjoy each other’s company. I think they hit the balance perfectly. We took a photo next to the cherry blossom bar.
I'm usually a sushi purist opting for classic sashimi or traditional nigiri, but the speciality rolls here are what subpar sushi restaurants are trying to do. A fusion of textures and flavors that blend perfectly together. Never forced, no one ingredient overpowering the other a true treat! Add in the extremely attentive service and unique atmosphere and you will have a dining experience you will 100% return to!
Absolutely LOVED this restaurant for my bachelorette party over the weekend. The atmosphere was vibrant as soon as you walked in and the interior design is beautiful. Our server Karla did a phenomenal job of checking in on us constantly and made sure everything was to our liking. As a foodie I have to say this was genuinely one of the best sushi places I’ve been to yet! The variety of foods had us ordering half the menu and everything was delicious. So happy we decided to come here! Definitely make reservations in advance and can’t wait till I come back.
10/10 Experience! My boyfriend took me here for my birthday because I’m a huge sushi lover and I absolutely loved it! It was perfect that they stay open until 11 PM since he gets off work late. The atmosphere was super cool, the sushi, edamame, and potstickers were all delicious, and the cocktails were top-notch. Loved the music selection, and the sparkler shot for my birthday was such a fun touch! Total for two: $100 + tip Would definitely come back!
Service is really fast and friendly. We were a group of 11 people. We ordered some starters and sushi rolls and the food came in seconds. Also we needed to order more later and again came fast. The atmosphere was good and the sushi rolls where even different with tastes I never tried before
We dined here for the first time on Valentine’s Day with another couple (party of 4). It was the best reservation we could find between 5:00–6:30 PM about 10 days prior — and we’re glad it worked out. We were seated at a great table, and our server Mattie was friendly, attentive, and checked on us consistently. We ordered several signature rolls (Tokyo Gangster, Sicario, Vampiro Slayer, Yuki Onna, Notorious P.I.G.), plus garlic edamame, Godzilla wings, kalbi short ribs, and skirt steak. Drinks included a non-alcoholic Sapporo and two signature cocktails. Everything was flavorful and well-prepared. Loved the food, service, and the beautiful cherry blossom tree — perfect for photos. Only downsides: a joking comment about the wings led to an extra order we didn’t intend to place, and the music was very loud, making conversation difficult. Overall, a very enjoyable Valentine’s dinner and we’d return.
A beautiful evening with great food and atmosphere. The only real draw back was i felt the Sake selection was pretty mid for the price. The aesthetics of the restaurant seem like its fighting with itself, in three directions. They gotta pick two lanes instead of 3 or four. Extra points for ice cubes in the urinals.
I really like this place. I've been here twice. Everything I had was delicious. We had the short ribs, the gyoza, amazing sushi rolls, and the miso soup did not disappoint. The drinks are also amazing. Be careful with the lychee martini, it does not taste like alcohol and a few of those can sneak up on you! The only downside was that on both occasions that I've been here at least one of the items that I ordered never came out. Other than that, it's a great place to go for dinner or drinks!
This sushi bar in San Diego definitely stands out for its atmosphere more than the food. When you first walk in, the sight that immediately catches your eye is the large sakura tree set right in the center of the restaurant. It really sets the tone and gives the whole place a unique and beautiful vibe. The restaurant itself is spacious, and there was a lively energy with a lot of people dining and enjoying themselves, which made it feel like a fun and social spot to spend an evening. Their menu is quite extensive with many Japanese dishes to choose from, so at first glance it seems very promising. However, I have to admit I wasn’t very impressed by the food itself. The sushi rice was much too soft and mushy, which really took away from the overall experience of the sushi. The style also felt more like “American Japanese” food rather than authentic Japanese flavors. That being said, if your main goal is to have drinks in a lively setting and soak up the atmosphere, then this is definitely the kind of place that works. It’s a good spot for a night out if you prioritize vibe over authentic sushi.
food was horrible for any price! it looks cool thats all. Edit : since management asked for more details we ordered their #1 roll: Tokyo "gangster " great names horrible taste. Basically 10$ cheap roll sold as high end 25$ because of name and location and decorations. The beer was not bad, but I doubt they could mess that up
