Tip: Great spot to start your morning! Their breakfast burritos is one of the best in San Diego—I love their green salsa.

A very lovely coffee shop! Beautiful aesthetic, outdoor seating with lots of families enjoying a Sunday morning, a welcoming atmosphere and good menu. I feel like I often go to pretty coffee shops with subpar coffee where the milk is burnt, or the shots don’t pull well but this vanilla latte was dialed in and super good. 10/10!
This is one of my new favorites in the north park area. The combination of good coffee, great staff, and plenty of seating won me over. They have a great combination of outdoor patio and plenty of indoor seating. Even with plenty of people there, there was still seating throughout. We love coldbrew and even though they didnt have an option to sample the mint coldbrew they had, they offered to give a bit of the surup to make a little sample using the one we ordered which is super nice. We were also able to get it in a glass rather than plastic which is great as well. My only nitpick is that glass should be the default for people getting it for there. The atmosphere is great too. While it is designed for buying the products they sell, it is nice items that are laid out in a way that adds a great look to the place. Overall a great spot.
This is a cute, relaxing place that sits next to a plant nursery. The outside patio is quiet, away from the street. Inside is decorated with a cottage feel. Avocado toast was very good but I would have loved fresh avocado slices instead of a spread. The kids options are why we came. My daughter had the. Chocolate steamer. They have several options.
Love, Love, Looooooove this place. I feel like if we were to create a cute coffee shop, where you can work a little, take some selfies, buy a candle, plant or a greeting card ALL IN ONE PLACE, thissss would be it. The staff is consistently kind and helpful with your orders and doing their best to pronounce your name loudly enough for you to hear. There’s a handful of outdoor patio style seats on the side walk. Parking is relatively easy on the street or the lot across the street. It’s a couple of block from the beach too, so you can walk off any sweet treats on the beach. 🤗🤩😎
My cousins and I went out for breakfast, and initially, we passed this spot because we had another place in mind. But once we found out they served breakfast, we decided to come back. I'm so glad we did. The ambiance is super cute, very hip and modern! If I lived in the area, this would definitely be my go-to chill spot. Plus, it’s very dog-friendly, which is a big plus. We decided to share our orders: a salmon bagel, turkey on an English muffin, and prosciutto with hot honey and goat cheese. Everything was delicious, the perfect Sunday morning for a quick family get-together. I highly recommend giving them a try! There is a nursery next door- North Park Nursery- check out my review with pics! Great service!
This was easily one of the cutest cafés I’ve been to in San Diego! My friend took me there because I wanted a cozy spot to work from. The vibe, the aesthetics, everything was a solid 10/10. I ordered a sakura matcha (which I think could’ve been better), but the lavender one was chef’s kiss. Also had a turkey bagel sandwich don’t remember the exact name, but oh my god, it was SO good. Everyone else loved their food too, so safe to say this place is a hit!
Communal Coffee is a beautiful coffee and boutique shop nestled in San Diego's North Park neighborhood. It has become my go-to spot for the best matcha lattes in town. Every time I visit, I am greeted with a delicious matcha latte that perfectly balances sweetness. The staff here consistently achieves the ideal level of sweetness, which is impressive. One of the things I love about Communal Coffee is its aesthetic appeal. Not only is it beautiful, but it also offers ample seating areas where you can relax and hang out. Additionally, there is a charming tiny boutique filled with delightful items like books, clothing, and candles. It's a perfect way to pass the time while waiting for your order or simply exploring the shop. Finding parking can be challenging, and certain days of the week tend to be more crowded. However, Communal coffee remains my top choice for indulging in matcha lattes and is an excellent place to unwind or get work done.
A cute place to drink coffee, eat breakfast & lunch, study & work, and hangout. The interior design here is really cozy. You will definitely have a good mood to be in this space. You can also shop and buy some beautiful flowers here. I tried their avocado toast this time because Mark Wiens recommended that before. The toast is delicious but the portion is too small for $12. My parents in law had a bagel sandwich and a bowl of Cobb salad. The waiter forgot to bring the eggs for the salad. I’ll say I love here’s coffee and space but probably won’t come back for food.
Great place to work, has different seating areas and options. It also has social tables for working. I went around 2 pm ish and it was really hot, not sure if the AC had a problem or is it always like that. The drip coffee was good and so the Mimosa 🍹
Loved the place! It is cute, clean and chick. They have plants hanging, the outdoor area is well put together. I oreder the salted caramel late. I received it cold. I'm not a fan of iced coffee, but it had a pleasant flavor.
Very good place overall. Their regular latte and salted caramel latte are both excellent, depends if you’re in the mood for sugary drink or not. I tried few bakery and breakfast items, and all of them were pretty good. I tried butter croissant, almond croissant, prosciutto breakfast croissant, and smoked salmon bagel. All options are excellent. Their prosciutto breakfast is more buttery than I would like it to be, so maybe they need to go easy a little on the butter. Wait time can be little long, but on average it is ~ 10-15 minutes. Overall I would give this place a solid 9/10.
Cute environment for socialising and working. Tried the matcha and chocolate croissant and was pleasantly filling. Would go back with friends in the future, however only down fall which isn’t on the staff or anything but to the customers. I had a weird encounter of a couple groping and touching one another as my table was facing theres which put me off the environment slightly as i was there with family. Besides that highly recommended!
Communal Coffee is an absolute gem! I had their Latte and the Spiced Pumpkin Latte—both were amazing. The lattes were perfectly crafted with rich, smooth flavors, and the Spiced Pumpkin Latte had just the right amount of seasonal warmth. The café itself has such a cool, welcoming vibe with its unique decor and cozy atmosphere. It’s a great spot to relax, catch up with friends, or just enjoy a quiet coffee. Highly recommend for any coffee lover!
Well designed interior with earthy greens as a pop of color amongst clean whites and wood tones. Things you should know: I. PARKING Limited parking on the back side (3 spaces) & street parking available II. SERVICE I liked that Communal Coffee offers a self-service water station. What makes this cafe unique is the on-sight florist. They run out of pastries by the early evening, so it's safe to say their supply is very limited but fresh. Coffee and alcohol are both served here. There's also indoor and outdoor seating. III. QUALITY Their red wine, here, is pretty good ~ highly recommend. I don't advise, however, sitting in the wood chairs by the dish drop off area because bugs WILL get into your food/drink. It was the only seating available during my visit and I was disgusted to find 3 nats in my singular glass of wine. IV. CAPACITY Packed on the weekends. This place is lively. I would try and visit during a weekday to get more available seat options.
AMBIENCE: Pretty cool interior, and outdoor area & right next to a small plant nursery. A cool spot to have coffee for sure. Almost everyone inside were working on their laptops. So it's pretty quiet. FOOD: Coffee had great taste but the matcha donut wasn't my jam. OVERALL: You can either catch up with friends or get some work done here. Not a bad place to stop for coffee.
Latte flight was alright, good flavor options but “flight” is misleading as its only 2 lattes (I’d usually think of a flight as 3+🤷♀️). The sausage bfast sandwich was alright, too sweet for my taste. The woman who took our order was extremely gregarious and a delight to talk to. There was little to no seating Saturday morning @ 9am. Wouldn’t recommend as a quiet place to study/work on the weekends. It was jam packed to the near brim. Parking is difficult to find on the surrounding residential streets, be prepared to circle the neighborhood a few times before securing a spot.
