Very tasty California burritos, and fish sandwiches. Also try their cheese fries. Prices are very reasonable. Ordering online is very easy, our order was ready under 15 minutes. Parking is little tight. They also have drive through. Would come back again. Edit: came back for Chimichurri sandwich, and BBQ chicken sandwich. For the chicken we opted for chipotle sauce. I ate half of each and I loved both. They were little sour for my wife, but she added some mayo and it was all good.

Always Awesome Vegan Comfort Food! Even health conscious vegans can't resist a delicious sandwich and a side of fries now and then. Evolution is one of our favorite spots for fast-food style vegan food done right. It satisfies the fast-food fix but with a healthier spin that makes the pleasure feel not quite so guilty. Picks to try... The Chimichurri sandwich (available with either vegan steak or vegan chicken) is flavor packed and hearty with plenty of well seasoned "meat" balanced nicely by fresh tomato and mixed greens. The Fuego burger is a satisfying combination of just the right amount of spice and creamy cheese sauce. The tempeh patty is amazing with this and ordering it as a lettuce wrap helps cool the heat. The animal fries are exactly what you want them to be. Just like the fries you get at the classic fast food places, but with a vegan twist. Caramelized onions, special sauce, crispy fries, what's not to love?

12/18/25 So I happen to be driving by going to the Taco Bell across the street and when I came out of Taco Bell that’s when I noticed it. I don’t know how recent you guys have opened but I drove down El Cajon Blvd. before and I did not notice it said evolution like I said until I was in the drive-through facing it for so long waiting for my order. I’m like oh my God you’re back and I’m like is it the evolution evolution? And yes, it is congratulations on the new location. I thought you guys were just closed down for good, but upon reading recent reviews, they seem disappointed in the new operations. I have not tried the new operations yet so this comment will be updated but for now I can speak on the food before was good. My favorite was the chicken salad and they got rid of that long time ago. I don’t know why that was a fan favor and it was made really well so some of the food has changed already. A lot of the comments are saying it changed now, but I noticed it started changing before, so I really hope not a lot of my favorites is taken off and the taste is still tasty like another comment said we do have limited choices as vegans And so I would like to to continue coming here as one of those choices. Thanks. I will update once I try the new location. !!

Vegan fast food... Interesting. I had a falafel wrap and wife had a BLT. Both good. Wrap was huge... 2 lunches. Patio was nice but spartan. Will return for more.

Ok, the vegetable wrap I had was absolutely delicious yet healthy! It was so very tasy! Huge! I was stuffed! Customer service was okay. I ordered inside. I had to wait for someone to come to the register to place my order. Someone eventually came out telling me they'd be with me. That's not so much the issue. It was dry customer service and not very welcoming. However, I truly enjoyed the food!

It's good to be back in California where I'm originally from. This place encapsulates what I remember about San Diego and Southern California vegan. It is a cool drive up window experience or go in and order and they'll bring it to you in the indoor outdoor seating area. Open without a roof and plenty of space. The food was really good and qualifies for vegan fast food. I had the California Burrito and it was really tasty the wings were just as good as I remembered. If you're in the area and you want to have a California vegan experience this is definitely a place to check out.

I've always been a fan of this place. This is the first time since they've moved that I've been here (great upgrade btw). First time ordering this sandwich and definitely will be the last. One piece of lettuce, soggy so-called "bacon" tempeh that had ZERO flavoring.... Very very disappointed. $13 spent on this is not it!! I really hope this is not the quality that they are putting out due to their upgrade. Wish I had a better review.... I was really looking forward to an enjoyable meal, which did not happen.

I've heard great things about this place and had high hopes coming here for the second time and bringing a friend, but the experience was lack luster at most. . We looked over the menu & both decided on veggie burgers. My friend ordered the black bean patty, fries and a vanilla shake. I got the Evo burger with the house made tempeh patty also with fries and a hibiscus tea. We both agreed everything was alright. . You'd think forgetting to take pictures of our food the flavors would be unforgettable, but they were bland. Tempeh is marketed as a bacon replacement and my sandwich was not reminiscent of any crisp, savory strips. My friend said the black bean patty was plain and that she's had better veggie burgers elsewhere. The highlights were definitely the fries with the rosemary, garlic salt seasoning and the milkshakes & drinks. The fries are warm and thinly sliced and I love the house made ketchup. They don't use the cleanest brand for milks, but the shakes are rich and sweet. . The space has really cool artwork and a large outdoor covered patio with tons of plants and and an artsy feel. There are two restrooms with a code and wifi with a password. The staff did their job, but they all look like the Addams Family versus the Brady Bunch they were polite, but you can see on their faces they don’t want to be there. That demeanor is consistent with both of my visits thus far. . We often hear the third time is a charm, I want to see if their vegan chick’n sandwiches, wraps, sides & desserts live up to the hype.

Never thought I would be giving Evolution 2 stars, but here we are unfortunately. I used to love this place when it had a drive-thru and I returned several years later to see that they removed the drive-thru completely (and possibly moved locations?). Now it is no longer the hole-in-the-wall place it used to be (in a bad way) and is a shared business with Donna Jean, another vegan restaurant. It's small inside as most of the indoor space is for Donna Jean. There is outdoor seating but we just ate inside being the only customers at lunch time. Unfortunately this is where it goes down hill. Me and my girlfriend ordered burritos and they were automatically cut in half (for "Presentation" I'm guessing), but this is a red flag for me. Staff seemed unenthusiastic to be there and the vibes were a little off so we took most of our food to-go. We were up-sold on some fries because it was some sort of "combo" which I'm sure ended up costing more. The "ketchup" we got for the fries was basically like if someone just cracked open a can of tomato paste and called it ketchup. $43 for 2 burritos (which were small portions, cut in half), some fries and 2 fountain drinks is a bit steep to say the least. Overall I won't be returning here and recommend Plant Power over Evolution.

The BTLA was so spicy it was not edible. Why not let us pick if we want sauce on it!!. That was smothered in very spicy sauce. The sandwich did not have a taste other than spice. Big bummer. Can’t call to ask about sauce.

I’m really disappointed with my experience ordering from Evolution. I placed an order through Instacart that cost me a little over $102, and somehow I still ended up missing one of the main items I was excited for — the Evo Style Fries with Buffalo and fried chicken added. For the price I paid, this should never happen. I expect my full order, especially when I’m spending over a hundred dollars. It’s frustrating to pay that much and not receive everything I ordered. This completely ruined the meal for me and honestly makes me hesitant to order from here again. I hope the restaurant takes order accuracy more seriously because this was unacceptable.

Wow......I had to delete my old review because I recently visited the new location and I gotta say things have definitely changed. And definitely not in a good way. The burger was bland. The chicken fingers looked all sad sitting on some dried up lettuce and the young girl working the register was weird and has limited customer service skills. And the menu is like a 1/3 of what the old menu was. Geez.... For several years I've enjoyed coming to the old location. The staff was way better and the food was a 4 or 5 star rating. Now I really don't care about ever coming back. $30 for a burger and chicken fingers that was just okay? I can cook at home and get way more and better quality than what Evolution is currently serving. We have a very limited amount of spaces where we can eat out at and this is quite the disappointment! What happened.... !??
