⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Only BBQ Worth Stopping For in the Gaslamp! They don’t just have the best beef ribs down here — they have the only beef ribs down here. And the chef smokes them over red oak wood?! Unreal. Fall-off-the-bone tender, perfectly seasoned, and legit BBQ flavor all the way through. This place is my new go-to anytime I’m visiting from Florida.
Gaslamp BBQ was fantastic! The food was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked — the burger was especially amazing, juicy, and packed with flavor. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, right in the heart of the Gaslamp area. Definitely a great spot to grab a delicious meal and unwind after exploring downtown San Diego!
Been coming here for years now and this is one of my favorite places in San Diego. The food is amazing. The service is great. And they actually have decent prices for shit! Jesse and Adam are two of my favorite people ever. I wish everyone in the service industry was like them, if you go to Gaslamp barbecue you won’t be disappointed. If you are, you probably suck.
Looking for lunch places that are easy breezy during San Diego Comic Con? Found this place today! It’s great; we ordered a pull pork sandwich and a bbq cheese burger with a side of fries, plus two Arnold Palmers (half lemonade, half iced tea)! While it was “crowded” there was enough movement for us to find a place to sit rather quickly (went around 1:30ish), and the staff was friendly and patient from start to finish. Definitely a future option for us thru the next Comic Cons!
Even though this place has generally bad reviews, But, I wanted to try it myself. We sat outside. Although other places were very crowded, this place was very calm. We later understood the reason for this. I can say that everything was even below standard. BBQ sauce was too heavy. It tasted better without the sauce. The service wasn't bad. But, He just asked if he could bring the bill after the meal was over. In hospitality, when asked about this guest, it is understood to simply say "go". It's not necessary. It's not crowded anyway. We are already up.
So expensive, but honestly just about everything in San Diego is super pricey for travelers - so in regards to portion size and quality, I'd give it a 9/10 and 8.5/10, respectively. Our server was a solid gent, and the food came out piping hot fairly quickly. I'd be hard pressed to say any BBQ in Cali can compete with other regions of the country, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't delighted and satisfied with my time here. I won't say when I'd come back here because there are just many options in Gaslamp, but it was spectacular for what I wanted at the very moment I was there, so 5/5 overall
So many choices around that area but we decided to try this one. Well it was worth every damn penny we paid there. Food was amazing and one of the few places I'd have a smoked meat but I wasn't disappointed at all. Friendly staff and kept checking on us even though the place was full. We had few drinks in addition to the meals and it was a well spent afternoon. I can't wait to go back and try more things from their menu. Update: Went there on Saturday and yes downtown was crazy because of comic-con. Place was super packed but staff got us a table in less than 5 mins. Since it was packed and comic-con, I really expected service to be slow but I was wrong. We got our order in 10 mins and OMG the food was amazing. We ordered ribs (they recommended it to us) and a pulled pork sandwich. Sandwich was overloaded with pulled pork and BBQ sauce was delicious. I had to share some of the pulled pork to be able to eat the sandwich. Pulled pork was so moist and buns were soft. Ribs were perfectly cooked and they were falling off the bones, you it was cooked properly when you can pull the bone with nothing left on it. BBQ was so good and tasty that we had to order extra sauce on the side.
Today I tried this little spot. The food was good but mostly the atmosphere was inviting and friendly. Lots of tvs and it was not too loud to have a meeting. I would recommend for a business lunch or after work beer. I had the Guiness.
A nice little gem in the gaslamp area. Went later in the evening and it was quiet compared to all the other places in the surrounding area The burger I got was called the duke and so good! Filled with pulled pork alongside a beef patty and everything was seasoned well and flavourful. The bbq sauce for the pulled pork went so nicely on the burger and soaked into the bun nicely For it with a side of onion rings and the rings were so nice and crispy! The vibe of the place was like a saloon which was pretty cool. Loved the whole them of the place and it’s not a bright spot, but really went well with the whole mood of the evening Service was great. Super quick and quick with the drinks and food too Great job overall
The staff is friendly and always taking care. The food was good. Affordable prices. You should try the cheese fries or the natchos. Good selection of beers and cocktails. The location is good. We were outside and still got some sun. Again here having different burgers. Still attentive staff and burgers are very good!
Seat yourself and order from the counter. Fastest service I have ever had. Juicy pulled pork was delicious… you can’t go wrong with this option. The fries required a bit of salt and catchup but were otherwise okay. The prices are STEEP(high) and do not reflect the quality of the food; I would expect better for these prices. I would eat here again if I needed a quick bite and money were not an issue. Nice and clean bathrooms.
Service was good! Went in to watch a few games and right away we were taken care of. Ordered the chicken nachos, bbq beef ribs, and chili fries with chicken. Nachos were with the cheese sauce but there was a generous amount along with sour cream. Did have to cut up some of the chicken chunks, also good portion. Beef ribs were fall off the bone. Did not try the chili but the fries were nice and crispy.
Visited San Diego from Vegas and I must say I think this place is a bit overpriced for the quality of the food. We ordered mozzarella sticks to start off with and was surprised at how small they were for $15!! . The bacon cheeseburger was a bit dry, shrimp skewers with potato salad were ok but not worth $30. Pulled pork Sliders are also just ok, but not worth $15 for 2. Server was nice and gave my dogs water, appreciated that part but other than that, I don’t think I will recommend this place.
The bbq were very dry, we just choose the restaurant randomly turn out. It was not a good choice. The food are very dry and the service is fine. I don’t recommend this restaurant, but if you feel like to try also food that delivery was slow comparing the empathy restaurant.
John Wayne combo three meats…. Ribs meant one really DRY old RIB… chicken cold, tri-tip like beef jerky (rib too) server replace cold chicken… no flavor at all look forward to trying… wouldn’t return… per my girl, only thing moist about our meal was the water… may have been good at one time?
Cool spot for drinks, however, the food wasn't that great. Chicken was over cooked and chewy.. The Tri-tip was thin sliced and tasted old, possibly sitting under a food heating lamp. Baked beans were good though. The meat didn't taste like it was smoked. Friend said the pulled pork sliders were good.
The worst BBQ I’ve had in my entire life. I had the pulled pork sandwich, my husband had a platter with chicken and pulled pork. The meats didn’t taste smoked at all even though the menu says they “smoke all meats with red oak wood”. The pork in particular tasted like it was frozen and reheated. My husband said the chicken tasted like it was boiled and had a weird texture. The only flavor came from the sauce. The fries were hot and good at least. The server was just ok. We left disappointed and won’t be returning.
Older Spanish woman named marphy is extremely rude. I asked for her name after she was rude and she told me marphy. Today is Sunday February 15th 2026 it is 9:43pm. I am sober and don’t drink or smoke. I myself own a business and would never be rude the way she was. I came in for food and was met with disrespect. I hope this message meets the OWNER. The person who actually cares about the establishment. I’d love to come by when this woman isn’t there and see how the service is. Trust me for me to take time to leave this review best believe the energy was off!
This was such a let down. The atmosphere and service is great and welcoming. I started worried since around 530-6pm only one other group came into eat. Food came out fast but man o man what a let down. The tri tip to serve is chopped like it belongs on a sandwich. Sliced like old deli meat and had the consistency of rubber. The ribs tasted like they were prepared 3 days ago and reheated in a microwave with bbq sauce put on top. Judging by the taste and texture I would guess them to be boiled. The only flavor was in the bbq sauce on top. The plate is served with sauteed peppers and onions which would be a great touch if they didnt taste like they were cooked on a dirty flat top.The onion rings were the only enjoyable thing. On the topic of dirty the silverware is stored on the tables in a container lined with holes. Just thinking of people eating around a table with my silverware stored for who knows how long is pretty gross to me. Plate had generous offerings but I left hungry since I couldn't eat more then a taste of this terrible bbq that has never even touched fire.
