Wandered past recently and stopped in to try the food out. If you're here for the 1st time it seems a bit overwhelming. Staff was nice, and food, while a touch $$$, was filling and well made. There was a decent amount of folks coming in/out, and there's a limited amount of places to sit. Overall, not a chain place (that I know of) and was worth trying out.

Lupe's Mexican Eatery is a bustling taco shop nestled in a strip mall on Linda Vista. The shop is bright and cheery at the counter, and a bit cozier in the seating area. The portions are quite large, but are more expensive than your typical taco shop. When I visited, I ordered a grilled fish taco and Lupe's Fries. - The grilled fish taco was topped with cheese, cabbage, avocado, and two types of sauces. The taco was assembled aesthetically and more importantly was very delicious. - The Lupe's Fries were a standard loaded carne asada fry order, except it is served on top of a thick tortilla. This allows you to make a faux California burrito after you're done eating most of the fries. One order is definitely enough for two people to share if needed. I thought the carne was a bit dry/chewy, but otherwise loved the dish. - There were three sauces available at the salsa bar. They all tasted good but I wasn't wowed by anything available. I would recommend eating at Lupe's if you are nearby and are craving some San Diegan/Mexican food.

It’s taco Tuesday folks!! Thought I’d try this spot out and my wallet and I both agree. This place is doable. The quality of meat was great and the tacos themselves were affordable too. They also have soups here (beef/chicken) for when you need that liquid num-num. The fountain drinks need to be refilled though, I had to settle for coke orange or vanilla sprite… I swiped left for the coke. But sometimes sacrifices happen on your journeys, make the best of it.

Had my girlfriend go in and get a burrito for me while I got Starbucks. The California breakfast burrito was pretty small for 16$ and the fries were not crunchy. The steak was very average for the price . I was not impressed. Would maybe come back because they serve beer and are close to mesa college but I was not impressed at all. I will say the salsas were pretty good.

Burritos all over town are getting more expensive but this place takes it a step further. $22 for a carne asada burrito and horchata. Burrito was 1/2 the size of a normal hole in the wall spot. Taste was good, but not good enough to justify the downsides in my opinion. Staff was nice, atmosphere was good as well.

So dissapointed. The place was very clean including the bathrooms but the food was horrible. I asked the cashier what she recommended and she said the bowl was popular so I ordered that. They should call it a soup. It was half full of water or some sort of liquid. $17 for a watery bowl. Never again

I have been eating at this restaurant ever since it was established. The food was amazing, the pricing was correct and the portions of food was correlated correctly to the price. I went Sunday for my ultimate favorite burrito which is T-Gunz burrito. When the burrito came out, the price was $9. Which was amazing. Months later it went up to $10.50. Months later, the cost of the burrito went up again to $12. I had no complaints because the quality of the food and portions of the burrito was correlated correct. Months later the cost of the burrito went up again, to $16. At this time, I think it was worth. But then the price maintained but the food quality, the taste of the meat, it wasn't as great. They lost their seasoning, their flavor. It was not the same. This past Sunday, i went the price of the burrito rose and it is now $22. The quality of the burrito was not good, it was OK, the portions of the burrito, was not good, not even OK or even "worth it". It is not worth to eat at this place again for the price and portions you get. Not worth it. I'd say it is a rip off and overrated for the price. There are other places that the food is good quality for the good price. Not this restaurant.

I want to preface this by saying I have been coming to lupes since they opened as they have been in my local area and were something special when they opened. I've probably eaten here approximately 80+ times in that span. After my experience last night, I never plan to eat here again. My main order from here during the last few years has been the sunrise fries, they aren't on the menu anymore and so we (my bf and I) opted for a lupes fry. I haven't had fries from here since last year since they were getting pricey but would get them every so often. To start off, the boxes compared to previous years are at least 25% smaller, which automatically means a smaller portion. We ordered lupes fries, which cost 20$, 20$ for these fries with a smaller box and they didn't even remotely fill it to cover the bottom of the box. It was barely enough fries for me and I'm a 120lb woman. I understand that we are all victims of inflation, portion sizes had already been going down a bit over the years but this was just ridiculous. The fries themselves were okay, lukewarm not hot, not very crispy and the meat on top was also scant.. just an extremely disappointing case all around. Nothing noteworthy or special. For the price point and portion size I cannot fathom ever seeing them as an option when there are other taco shops around San diego that will still give you a decent portion at a lower price point. Overall I've seen the quality and portions decrease over time while still raising prices. This is truly disappointing, because I cannot see or justify eating here at all anymore. I've seen the burrito sizes go down significantly as well as the sauce cups of all things lol. Service is fine but they didn't answer the phone at all when I called initially to place the order and it rang for well over 3 minutes. Inside is typically empty and parking is normally easy to find. So if you're looking for a disappointing overpriced meal you can eat here, but I definitely won't return.

New management and workers are getting lazy, been going here for years now and up until 2024 it was great food and service. Don’t order any fry options because the plate won’t be full, the burritos are half tortilla most of the time and any of the fry options are cold.

I ordered carne asada fries and when I got my order i was surprised to see a small box very light weight…. I opened the box and sure enough there was very little fries. I was expecting a regular sized box for $19 dollars. Definitely never coming back.

Please don’t eat here! I feel scammed out of $21. I recently dined at this seafood restaurant and was thoroughly disappointed. The food was extremely terrible. The shrimp tasted bland and not fresh at all. The portions were surprisingly small for the high prices. I had high hopes for a good seafood experience, but unfortunately, I won’t be coming back or recommending this place to anyone. PLEASE Don’t eat here!

Utter disappointment food was cold, margarita was basically juice, portions were unfair for the price you pay. Grew up in Linda vista and used to frequent this place and since their remodel I’m not sure how they’re still up and running. No need for a sorry reply do better! Spent 40 and was disappointed.

Terrible. No other word messed up my order, called them and the lady was extremely rude and put the whole blame on me. Never coming back! The receipt was under Barno paid almost 80 dollars for my order to be made without half of the ingredients that it was supposed to have. Do yourself a favor go somewhere else. Including my supposed to be California burrito with fries and some meat and tons of cheese no guacamole or sour cream
