Ordered the charcoal beef, chicken, and pork on broken rice for delivery and it did not disappoint. Huge portions, super flavorful, and the charcoal BBQ had that smoky, grilled taste that hits 😍 Tons of flavor all around. Loved that they gave the pho broth on the side when I asked, everything arrived perfect. Definitely ordering again.
Food is delicious and authentic (as they say). Service is attentive. They were always busy with customers but still made rounds to check on our table and refill water. Building & signage is a little dated but the food makes up for it!
This is a great place. I had egg rolls, they were a little greasy but with the dipping sauce they were very good. I also had Pho' with rare steak and it was great, the broth was rich and had very deep flavor. The garnishes were fresh and it had all the condiments. The portions were big. I will definitely eat here again.
I was shocked at how fast our food brought out. It was seriously like 3 min. The flavors were good, and I was pretty full afterwards. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a delicious meal without a wait. I plan on returning the next time a Pho craving hits.
This location is pretty good but stay clear of their location at Costco. Most of the menu items are pretty true to Vietnamese cuisine and good value as well. The lemongrass beef or shredded pork salad rolls are Fire! Great value too compared other restaurants.
Don't expect American service. The service here is very direct, very fast, no pleasantries. If you want a waiter that will chitchat with you for 5 minutes and ask you if everything is tasting alright, this isn't the place for you. That being said, the food is phenomenal and affordable, and that's what counts in my book.
Food is delicious and authentic. Great neighborhood place. The staff is nice and attentive.
My favorite place to eat Pho in San Diego, the service is fast, the food is delicious it is not expensive and there’s place to park.
I got the chicken noodle bowl and it was amazing. So fresh, flavorful and light. Excellent food, customer service and very cheap compared to other similar options. Highly recommend.
I've been coming to this Pho Ca Dao for more than 10 years- Best pho and spring rolls ever!! Best egg rolls!! Very fast and good customer service!! I have tried Pho at many Vietnamese restaurant and this is the Best!!!! Except for their customer service skills lol, they rush you to order, they rush you to leave, they don't know how to say hi or smile at you LOL but only for the food I keep coming back.
Update 2024: Still incredible, super cheap pricing, super fast service. Big portions too. 2018: Delicious! Excellent, speedy service. Lots of delicious Viet options-but obviously the best is the Pho. Go around 7pm for the richest taste-the broth simmers all day.
My family and I have been to Pho Ca Dao Restaurant many times. We enjoy eating in the restaurant and ordering to take home, while we relax, watch a movie and eat. We love the Chicken Broth Noodle Soup with the fresh veggies. Add to that grilled shrimp or fried tofu. This is a clean place with friendly, couteous staff and good, fresh food. The prices are very reasonable. The waiters are quick to seat you and service is great.
Been coming here for years! Never fails to satisfy my pho cravings and they are always so quick. Definitely a top favorite!
Amazing Pho! Highly recommend
Excellent food , great quality and tastey ! huge variety menu of all the traditional Vietnamese recipes from North to South . People are so lucky to have this in your neighborhood. PS some customer Here trying to pull the old trick hair in my food free meal trick which was completely BS !!!! !!! l saw everything. So mean to try that trick employees and staff work hard here and to waste there money by making them make more food for free .
First time here at this location. Ordered the dac biet to see and taste all their types of meat. Food came pretty quick so that's a plus. Dac biet broth was good. Standard large pho bowl with all your toppings. The meat was good, plenty of it. The only thing I didn't like was their tripe. Very, very thin slices, almost mixes in with the noodle. I prefer the large tripe chunks, so that's based on your preference. Overall I would recommend this pho place!
Best I've tasted so far!! The customer service was great.
Been going to this restaurant for over 10 years. Really good food, not overpriced, quick service.
Really good food love the sevice and would really recommend.
Food is amazing! Service is quick and efficient
This place gives off LA/China Town vibes and the pho tastes like it as well. The pho here is decent, nothing to brag about with various cuts of meats for $14.80 for the Dac Biet #1 special. The noodle portions could be bigger. The spring rolls were absolutely HUGE! Really packed with pork, shrimp, noodles and lettuce, and for $6 for two? Major deal. The peanut sauce has a little spicy kick. The chicken pho was also really good as well, and the strawberry smoothie tasted link the pink Starbursts! There were some flies flying around which kind of grossed me out. The service was also really fast and friendly, I would recommend this place if you're in City Heights!
Pho was flavorful and tender, enjoyed the beef with lemongrass served on white rice, and the fish sauce to dip the cucumber and vegetables in, and the egg rolls came with a generous serving of lettuce, would definitely recommend, really quick to get the food and everything is really tasty. The place was pretty full and plenty of people coming in for takeout, but they got everything served really fast, so pretty impressive to feed that many people with good and delicious food that efficiently
Tried this place 2x. The first time was via Uber Eats and 2nd time in person. Uber Eats: I personally hate ordering Pho to go, but I didn't have a choice since I was really sick. To my surprise, it tasted good for takeout. I ordered Pho Tai Gau (rare steak and brisket) regular size, the Charbroiled Lemon Grass Beef Fresh Spring Rolls and Charbroiled Chicken Spring Rolls. Ordering on Uber eats was a little annoying since it forced me to choose an add on (extra noodles/soup/meat) and I didn't want to, but I really wanted Pho. It was an unnecessary forced upcharge, with no way around it but I sucked it up. The Pho was a solid 3/5 for take out so I was excited to try it in person when I felt better. My partner liked the beef rolls but he didn't like the chicken rolls. Dine in: I finally felt better so I went in person to try it out. This time I ordered the Pho Ca Dao Special (large size) and Charbroiled Pork Spring Rolls. Wow. Blew my mind. It was so good! If you like authentic Pho, this is it (in my opinion). I didn't feel thirsty or get a headache after eating it, which leads me to believe they don't use MSG or use too much salt. Nicely sized portion, I will probably order a regular size next time... The rolls were really good too, one order comes with two rolls so it's shareable. Cleanliness 4/5. Food 5/5. Service 5/5. Sat me down immediately. Took my order. Received my food in decent timing, let me enjoy my food and didn't rush me. That is one thing that annoys me, getting my tab before I am done eating, and good thing they didn't cuz I ordered some more rolls to take home to my partner. Bonus: they close at 9pm and they are located in a plaza with a parking lot.
Great value for the quantity and quality for the food. Each of our plates were something like 9.75 per person (excluding tax and tip). We got a table at like 8:30 and we were immediately given menus, we placed the order and was able be given our food like 5/10 minutes later. Great food and service, would definitely come back here!
I enjoyed the seafood pho and a boba called taro the drink was purple it had the right amount of sweetness. The brown sauce that came with the rolls had peanuts and tasted sweet as for the rolls I personally didn't like it but the person I was with liked them. I believe the cup that has beans and jello was L1 it tasted ok but the big ice was a bother it would be better if they were crushed. But overall a good place there is a restroom for customers.
Excellent food bar none. Everyone I came with totally enjoyed the food, not one unsatisfactory thought said. I was told this was the best PHO place- they did not disappoint.
I tried this location while I was passing by, and I absolutely loved it! The food was delicious and the staff were warm and welcoming from the moment I walked in. I’m from Orange County, and this is the first pho I’ve tried in San Diego absolutely stunning! Highly recommend this establishment if you’re looking for great flavor and great service. I will definitely be coming back! 🍜✨
Delicious pho and Vietnamese cuisine at Pho Ca Dao! We ordered the P11 sliced well done steak and flank pho, the P24 seafood pho with shrimp, white fish, and imitation crab, and the K2 shrimp roll bean curd. All the food was delicious, I haven’t had much pho so far in life, but this was one of the best if not the best. Very friendly and quick service. Very authentic. Recommend!
Super homey Vietnamese spot! We walked right in and were seated immediately. We ordered the pho, egg rolls, and bun cha. Everything was incredibly fresh and felt like it came straight out of someone’s kitchen. The service was excellent, and everyone was really friendly. I’d definitely come back—I’m already craving the fresh veggies in all of our dishes. The pork flavor was fantastic too!
I come here just for the Tau hu ky (shrimp paste wrapped in bean curd). The Pho special is also pretty good. Broth is tasty and the ingredients seem pretty fresh unlike most places, which are stale. The rice plates are awesome and they have pretty good portions of meat. The staff is really nice and friendly too and the inside seems pretty tidy.
My partner suggested this place on a cold day it was the best decision to come in for lunch! It was my first time here and it is a very fast paced turn around quick service spot but so so good\n\nT…

This is one of my favorite pho spot I highly recommend I always get the p12 beef and brisket pho the service is good and they are quick to come out with the food
I like how they offer small and large sizes for pho. There are a lot of options and the prices are reasonable.
I've been coming here for years, personally I think it's the best pho in San Diego, and for the prices especially. Always get the eggrolls too, they're soo good. The service is so quick I'm talking…
Food was great and decent price! The servers don't talk much or aren't friendly , but hey as long as the food is good and the place is clean , we will go back.
Fast service, always busy. Get the pho. They know what they do right! They run out of pho and sell out often. Worth the wait if you need a table
The food was delicious, there was root beer (For anyone who gets confused root beer is a soda), the pho was delicious and so were the noodles. My order? Glad you asked! It's actually on the…
We got there around 8pm, a bit late. I was so hungry! My son is always hungry. Ordered our usual. We always order a dish of extra vegetables in broth. The broccoli was just this side of old & my son got a baby corn that was sour. One of the chunks of imitation crab in my pho tasted off. This hasn't been a problem before. I am sad!
I want to give this place 5 stars. The food was good and delivered promptly to our table. We had a large party and they forgot to bring some of our dishes. Maybe our large party was too much for them to handle. The smaller parties around us seemed to be happy with their experience. I'll definitely go back and give them another try with a smaller group.
This place is always busy during lunch and dinner. My ho-to-order is the train pho. This bowl comes in a small and large. It has all the meats, including beef tripe. They have perfected this bowl of pho like no other. The soup is hot and the plate of veggies (mints, bean sprouts, lime) is substantial. Price is reasonable ~ under $20 and you will be full. Try it out for yourself!
Fast service. Friendly and accommodating. Lovely food. Great flavors. I tried the chicken pho with a side of steamed shrimp. Shrimp was very tender & delicious as was the whole meal. I'll definitely be back for more delightful pho & dishes. Only negative was the free water tastes a bit weird.
It was packed but that tells you how good the food is and it is good. I just hate waiting 50 minutes for it that's not counting the wait to get a table. The line goes outside around the building sometimes.
The one in Mira Mesa used to be our go-to place for vermicelli tofu. Their grilled tofu was so tasty. Not sure if all the chain changed recipe or just here, tofu is not grilled. Vermicelli still tastes great. Service is usually quick, and prices are reasonable. Basil smell as you enter the shop is very comforting. They have a new location in Mission Valley, near IKEA/Costco, we will try there next.
The Food is always great. Although the service can be completely rude at times which is why I can honestly give this place 5 stars. The ingredients are always fresh. The service is fast and overall the restaurant is rather clean for a local eatery. I would recommend the small chicken pho or the charbroiled Shirmp Broken Rice. Don’t forget to order the fried egg rolls to start you will not be disappointed.
I’ve gone to several pho restaurants and had been looking around for a place that would like. I was recommended this place on El Cajon blvd and this place really hit the spot! I’ve been to this place several times now. The food is tasty so fresh and you get very prompt service. The restaurant is very clean and our table was fully stocked and everything was very neat and clean. Not to mention the restroom (for being a very old bathroom) seemed very clean and did not have a foul smell. (Which says a lot) I will continue to frequent this restaurant and I highly recommend to anyone looking for some good pho!
Food is pretty good. The pho is pretty decent and I like how they package to go orders. If you sit down it’s kind of grimy and the utensils and soy sauce, etc. containers don’t look like they’re washed well.
The men (waiters) there are miserable le and don't even look at you. They are from another country but have not bothered to learn the langues to help the non Vietnamese customers. It is VERY hard to communicate with them. They are fast and you are just a number to them. The pho is tasty..but makes you wonder with Their bad attitudes.
unfortunately, my experience wasn't the great my food looks old or over cooked,I've been trying the same dish in other places and it's completely different. I barely eat my food
One of my go to spots because parking is easy and service is quick! I always order the number 12 which is the rare thin steak and brisket!

Horrible customer service Did not receive refills the whole time I was there The was ok
I called them as we were leaving to ask about what time they close and he said last table to be seated at by 8:45 we got there at 8:30 and drove the 15 min to get there to be told only “to go orders only” really disappointed after long day of moving
I am a fan of Pho for decades. I found the broth here was not light and clear enough for my taste. For a small size, I think the amount of noodle and meats were the same with the large one only it was put in a smaller bowl and that made it your dish looks so crowded and hard to mix without making the broth spilled. They gave you a generous amount of meats but it’s too generous. Everything should be balanced and complimenting each of Pho components, that’s a perfect Pho. This was not the case here for me. For Kids menu-grill chicken, the chicken was hard and lack of juiciness. Seasoning was okay for kids, not too strong. Service? Well, not bad although the one who took our order was like in a rush and lack of friendliness. The one who brought our foods was a cheerful man tho. Full of smile and super friendly. I like how everyone was so comfortable and being in the crowd of a busy Asian restaurant was always a joy for me.
I have been to many pho restaurants, went out of my way to come here due to over 4 stars reviews, but was disappointed with the broth, noodles texture and the rice dish was subpar. Not in a good location, laundromat behind the restaurant and street vendors laying out sales items on the floor right in front of the restaurant. We felt bad and gave money but not happy about it.
I use to dine here often but the pho quality and consistency seems to have diminshed a great deal. My bowl of pho came out on the cooler side today, not hot enough to soften the beans sprouts like it usually does, the meat sliced thick, the broth bland, and the noodles not soft enough. For a large bowl, this place is more expensive by about a dollar than some other pho places in the area.
The pho was ok but I could taste MSG and made my throat dried afterwards. The vegetarian dish , fried tofu, was bland.
The Pho was good. Spring rolls are subpar and the peanut sauce is watery with not much flavor. No Banh Mi sandwiches on the menu Service was great though. Personally, I would hit another spot
I'm sure the food is great when dining in, but God forbid you order for takeout (e.g. UberEats). The restaurant will mark your order as ready but still have you wait for an indefinite amount of time for the pickup. Cashier gives no updates as they're inundated with handling both dine-in payments and takeout. /sigh
I was not impressed with the woman at the checkout/ front counter. Clearly has no training in customer service. The look on her face says it all while ordering. She left as bad of a taste in my mouth as the food. I would not recommend this location. The food looked better then it tasted. The chicken was okay, dipping sauce too spicy. Portion sizes more then adequate.

Yesterday Sunday March 27, 2022, around 12:45 PM I came to order takeout. I was served by a cashier who was too rude and did not give me my place as a customer of this restaurant. I placed my order …
My brother in law had to wait a whole hour to get his food after the new server forgot to put the order into the POS. After they got their food we talked to the main guy in the red shirt about any kind of discount based on the long wait time. He mentioned that he could not but after a few minutes he mentioned he could only do 10% off. We took the discount but it feels although they could have done more. First time having any issues with this restaurant since coming here often for so long. Normally service is great though!
Food was Ok. Service….what service? The waiter acted like i was owning him something. Its just a Pho shop, not begging you for a job. Extremely rude, he grabbed the credit card from my hand and started swiping it without my permission. 0 manners.
Food is okay, but the reason for the low stars is the service is TERRIBLE!!! The waiters ignore you. Don’t ever pass to check on your table. And when you ask for something it never comes! I would rather much take my money elsewhere
The servings were huge!! So that was great. Unfortunately, when i got to eating it, there was dish soap taste lingering in the pho. It could have been the serving spoons or whatever was used to grab sprouts or noodles but unfortunately I had to toss out my entire bowl. Upon contactign them there was no resolution
Food is mediocre. Service is bad. We went in and no one said anything to us. No sign to wait or seat yourself. I asked the cashier for a table and he said go to the other side. Found a clean table and sat down. One waiter came by to take our order and walked off since pen was out of ink. A while later another person took our order, we asked about our ice coffee 3x. Came out after our meal. The food was disappointing and not very good.

The waitress was so rude to us that we had to walk out. Me and my family eat there a lot of time . I urge everyone to check the girl waitress because her tone of voice is not to be tolerated.
Came here for lunch with my son. One of the front lady told us to grab a table. As soon as we sat down, one of the male waiters asked the other male waiter, "why did you put them there?". And the other waiter replied back, " I didn't put them there. They just sat down." So then I asked that man if he wanted me to move tables. He said yes, so my son and I kindly moved. After we got our food, I could still hear the male waiter talking about us sitting at the table. Not just to the man, but also to the female waitress. They were both literally talking about us while we were sitting there trying to eat. I guess they didn't know that we understood them. But still, be more professional. We already moved tables like they wanted us to. It's not a big deal, but why keep talking about it? It's so rude. They were talking so loud in Vietnamese. I was pissed and wanted to say something like, "I understand you guys, you know." I just tried to hurry and eat and left. #BadService #RudeStaff #Unprofessional
Been going to this place for a very long time. Super disappointed in what happened today. I ordered two separate spring rolls, and both of them had long pieces of hair in them and around them. The one I was eating had a hair inside of it, I didn’t notice until I took a bite, and when I noticed it made me sick. I recommend not going here and ordering spring rolls or any of the food ever. Obviously it is not safe and it is not reaching health standards. Extremely disappointed, and the idea that I ate at this place multiple times makes me feel sick to my stomach , just how I felt after eating the food this morning.
1 star due to terrible service. Without a doubt the worst staff I’ve seen in any pho place. Rude and unprofessional.
Waited over an hour for our order to have food come out cold, staff members are not attentive and borderline rude , however eggrolls did taste good
Broth was phenomenal but meat was rotten and my egg rolls were cold, customer service was questionable. My server forgot two of my orders and didn't check on me once. Restaurant wasn’t even busy like come on 😭
the foods are ok, but the young waiter with headphone on his ear all the time and he was careless, i walked by and he just threw the wet table rag across me to the cleaning stall, the water spashed on me, and he just walked away without an apologize. If owner read this you need to train him better. When we walked in the restaurant he saw us he not even great or say anything too.
I am a pho lover who eats pho at least once a week. I have never been so disappointed enough to write a review about a Vietnamese restaurant before but this one is an exception. I went in with a big group, on a weekend. At our table we found 5 dirty spoons. I didn't say anything because I was starving. The sweet peanut sauce for our spring rolls was salty. My pho broth tasted like it was not ready to be served. After all that I asked for more jalapeno and the girl near the cash register told me they didn't have anymore jalapeno!!! She lied while the waiters were serving everyone else!!!
I ordered Cajun shrimp. This does nothing looks like the picture that’s over there. This is have to be the skinniest most unwell prepared sandwich I’ve ever experienced the worst and the shrimp is so small. I understand a sandwich but I literally paid over $10 for this sandwich, I was so mad I didn’t even want my money back. This is the worst thing I’ve ever seen in my life. Worst place ever. I’m sorry man I just
If I could give zero stars, I honestly would. What happened to my parents in that restaurant was one of the worst displays of disrespect I’ve ever heard of. They got my mom’s order wrong, and she pointed it out politely. Not in a rude way, not demanding, just calm. The server didn’t just disagree; he argued with her, raised his voice, and kept insisting she was wrong in a way that felt aggressive and intimidating. My mom was so shocked she didn’t even know how to react. My parents were embarrassed, uncomfortable, and completely humiliated in front of everyone. No customer should ever be spoken to like that, especially not someone who was being polite and patient.
I ordered doordash from this place cause im pregnant and craving pho and its cold. I finally get it after waiting 40 mins and I was served more fat than broth or beef. I am so so sad I spent my money on this.
