This was some of the best fried chicken I've ever had! I've been there a few times and continue to be impressed. My brother and I also split the ceviche before our main course and it was delicious. The portions are good size as I probably ate more then I needed too. I'll definitely be returning to sample other items on the menu.
Wow! Great spot for Peruvian. Now i have two favorite Peruvian restaurants in the whole Peninsula and this is one of them!! Not only is the food pleasing to look at but your palette will thank you.
Food was insanely tasty and fresh, owner was really nice and it was honestly just a fun vibe. Absolutely recommend and will be back
GREAT CUSTOMER SERVE ! THE BEST PERUVIAN RESTAURANT IN SAN FRANCISCO ! THE GREATEST FOOD! 100 PERCENT RECOMMEND IT !
We ordered 80% of the menu and all of us enjoyed every plate, the flavors were like having them in Peru. Great job! If you have the chance try the papas a la huancaina and cordero seco... A+ for this place!
I have been to just about every Peruvian restaurant in San Francisco even Lamar and I must say that this is the BEST one. My wife is Peruvian and she will not go to any other Peruvian restaurant. Onething you must ask for is more seasoning if you're doing takeout.
Delicious and super AUTHENTIC Peruvian food. Their Chicha reminded me of family recipe and their menu includes classic options but also genuine variations for GF and vegan consumers. Friendly service. So happy to have a Peruvian place in SF like this!
Best authentic Peruvian dishes that I have found in the SF area. Family background is Peruvian. I have eaten at all the Peruvian places in SF and this place has true authentic flavors. My favorite is the ceviche clasico and seco de carne. The Lomo Saltado is also delicious. Check them out if you want to experience authentic Peruvian flavors.
The portion sizes are good, food is well made and the to go plates work well. But be careful, when they say "spicy" they're not fooling! It's so good! Yum!
We crossed the bridge again just for El Aji! Their Ceviche Classico is just so addictive. There’s a reason why people say that El Aji has the best ceviche in the Bay. It’s also quite a huge portion. Arroz Con Mariscos has a handsome amount of seafood (about 45%) and deliciously sticky and jumbo Peruvian corn kernels. We loved the tenderness of their Lomos Saltados beef. There are plenty of side dishes: potato salad, dessert, and chips. I think this was way more than expected for a meal for 2. Instead of parking, I recommend bringing a family member to help pick it up while you drive around the block. It’s a very vibrant neighborhood with lots of energy. There were 2 tables of people dining in. The pickup station has a huge bottle hand sanitizer.
I went to El Ají for lunch with my family, hoping to get authentic Peruvian food. We ordered ceviche and papa rellena for appetizers. Lomo saltado, quinoa salad for the main course. Each dish was well prepared, and served with appropriate garnishing. The ambiance, with pictures of alpaca and llamas, and framed photos of Macchu Pichu and Nazca, supplemented the delicious food. I felt like I was a tourist in Cuzco! The serving portions were a bit small for my liking. The prices were very reasonable. If you are in the Mission Street area, and want to eat great Peruvian food, l recommend you visit El Aji. You will be glad you did!!
Authentic, cooked by the owner himself, what a great place to dine, feels local. Great aji de gallina, lomo saltado and ceviche Chalaco, special recommendation from the cheff, totally worth the try
Always good. We picked up two orders of Ceviche and Saltado de Mariscos (seafood). They are open for indoor dining now
For a very simple place the food is very good ,very close to the authentic peruvian food ,prices are VERY reasonable ,the portion are decent ,food is fresh ,they did not spent a lot of money on decor and BS ,they focus on good food ,if you are peruvian or you been in Peru you know what I'm talking about .It was my first time at this place and I will coming back .
Lomo saltado, ceviche, and seco de cordero are excellent here. one of my favorite neighborhood spots and very reasonable pricing! 10 to 15 bucks for a meal
I've been fortunate enough to visit El Aji many times now, and I've always had a wonderful experience. The food, in my opinion, is outstanding and reliably consistent. Don Cesar is clearly dedicated, and I always appreciate how he manages to provide quick service alongside such quality dishes. For anyone looking for a great meal, I highly recommend the Ceviche de Pescado—it's incredibly fresh and bright. The Lomo Saltado is also a personal favorite of mine, always so tender and full of flavor. For my taste, El Aji is a fantastic spot to enjoy authentic Peruvian food here in SF.
Aji amarillo and lomo saltado were really good. The yuka was made fresh as well. Over all the service and food deserves more recognition
Oh my god, the food here is good!!! We had the saltado de pollo (sautéed chicken) and seco de carne (marinated beef). The flavors are out of this world. Don't pass this place up if you want a hearty lunch. Oh, get the chicha morada, too!
During a long layover in San Fran., my daughter chose this restaurant. To be honest, when the Uber driver pulled in front of this establishment, I thought it was a mistake. There's no banner or sign outside indicating what it is. From my vantage point, the place really looked seedy from the outside. The ambiance wasn't much either, but I'm here to tell you.., seedy looking and all, the food and service was nothing short of EXCELLENT. The passion fruit drink was quite a hit with my palate. The Arroz Con Marisco was delish. The fish was light, airy and flavorful. The Calamari was a hit as well. Just the right crunch and seasoning leaving me to secretly want to order another round. As for the Ceviche., my daughter is the connoisseur of that dish and she gave it the Chef's kiss.
There are many Peruvian restaurants in San Francisco now and some of them are upscale and fashionable. But this place is probably the least chic;-) but most authentic in taste! Just ask them what they recommend of the day and you will not go wrong. And the price is very reasonable. My only complains is that they did not have beef tongue (anticuchos de lengua) but hope they have it ready next time I go! No disappointment if are looking for the authentic taste.
A humble place with a great variety of dishes. Love their daily specials, prices are good and the staff is friendly. Sometimes I also get a free appetizer in my take outs! Love supporting them during the pandemic. Thank you!
I couldn't recommend this place enough. I have been here many times and they never disappoint me. Food is really good Portions are pretty big. (Peruvian style ;) Also, I never run out of rice like in another Peruvian restaurants) I can certainly say that from all the restaurants in San Francisco, this is the one that most resembles the taste from back home. This time I ordered aji de gallina, Lomo saltado and Rotisserie Chicken. All good. Sorry but lomo and aji de gallina are almost gone.🤣 while I'm writing this review ✨
Everything was absolutely delicious, on par with our favorite Peruvian restaurant at home, but with a lower price. The ceviche is outstanding as is the Lomo Saltado and Seco de Carne. Covid precautions were good. Patrons and staff wore masks, good distance between tables, etc. It was our first time dining in a restaurant in over a year, and everything went very well. We will return many times when we visit San Francisco in the future.
It is one of the best Peruvian restaurants in town. Too bad the location is not that great.
If your ever looking for a Peruvian restaurant this is the place to go, all the dishes at this place are so good, theres not just one dish that i can say is better than the other. The food taste home made too! plus everything is made on the spot, it tastes so fresh. Staff is super friendly & the chef is from Peru, so you know he knows what his cooking.
Very solid cabrito norteño and maracuya. Service is quick and excellent. I'll have to return to try more dishes!

A great Peruvian experience food, the plate Steak del Pobre was delicious, homemade flavor, big, and tastier than other restaurants near in the area SF!
This place is amazing, service is fast and the food is delicious! El ceviche chalaco is divine , the jalea super fresh and everything the make is tasty 😋 highly recommend it!!
We ordered mostrito and arroz chaufa through uber eats for an event nearby and the food was delicious!!
I have been to this place to eat several times, and I can say with certainty that the quality and flavor of the food are consistently excellent and always delicious. The quality is so good that we hired Don César to cater our wedding, and all our guests were astonished by the food. The fish ceviche is my favorite; it's fresh and has a delightful flavor. The lomo saltado is my favorite main course, and here, unlike at other places, this dish is not only delicious, but the amount of beef is quite generous, and please, don’t miss the Causa, it is amazing! Without a doubt, this is one of the best Peruvian food spots in San Francisco!

Cozy little restaurant at the tail end of the Mission. Impressed with the heat they brought to the ceviche, though as someone who's never had ceviche that isn't Mexican, the presentation through me off a little. Not that it was bad thing! I enjoyed the combination of the ceviche with the beans and potatoes, and the additional dipping sauce really elevated the meal. My only complaint is that the place IS a little pricey, and the proportions didn't seem to justify the amount. Still, I know seafood is expensive, so it was willing to pay so long as the food delivered - and it did!! If you want some Peruvian food in your life, this is absolutely a place to try.
Nice flavours. The ceviche is amazing and tastes exactly like at home. Prices are a little Hugh for the food size. And restaurant itself needs to look better. Worth going.

The Ceviche had too much ginger in it so it lacked the very lemony taste it usually has ): the papa a la huancaina didn’t have much flavor but still good, the lomo saltado tasted different than the original authentic lomo but it tasted very good!!! Staff friendly and food came out quick!
The food are ok.
The food are ok.
great place but the ceviche quality been slowing down how come the ceviche is frozen ? its needs to be soft and fresh not frozen other wise give ice than fish lolz
I have been here three times on three consecutive sundays after church. The food is great. Seafood rice, beef, chicken all good. However today i have a slightly bad experience, the menu says full chicken is 25 and half is 16, i ordered full and dined in. When the bill came, they charged me 28.95+tax for the chicken instead of 25+tax, and i asked why the chicken is not 25. They said 25 is takeaway price and 28.95 is dine in price, i asked them nowhere was it written on the menu, and they simply said “yeh its not written on the menu but it works that way”, i checked their website also and the updated menu and nowhere was it written like that. I wish they have made it clear when i ordered. It was not a nice feeling but i still paid for it, but i think i will be more careful with this place and might not return next time. I came home and read a review below that they give one menu and charge another price, seems they used this old trick before, i wish i didnt fall for it and i dont think i will return anymore nor recommend it to my church frds.
Food was very flavorless, ordered the ceviche chalaco and the arroz con mariscos. The ceviche was nothing special and the arroz con mariscos very greasy and didn’t taste like anything. Won’t be back
I ordered the ceviche via Uber eats. I’m not sure who this is catered for but if your from Peru. Stay away from the ceviche because words could not describe how horrific that was. As a world traveler, this has got to be the worst ceviche I have ever had. I felt my entire Peruvian bloodline rage in anger as I took my first bite. However the lomo was ok.
I ask for Peruvian breakfast,he told ne that they did have it.then I ordered it to pick up and he told very sure about it ,that I would be ready on 7 minutes, after he said there is no longer. It seems to me there is not control of the dishes they have,no respect ,no organización or just no matter what want costumer eat in his restaurant .The true El Aji restaurant created discomfort and lack of respect.
The food was so horrible 🙄 The service was ok, the price was overpriced 🤔wow 😳 would not recommend unless you never tasted real Peruvian food.. The thing is if management would put a little effort maybe the food can improve.. The waitress was nice 🙂
Hi everyone I’m disappointed with the care that they have with uber eats as we order on line they should take care of the quality of the food l order a pollo broster on uber eats and they swnd me same crappie thing you see how it looks on the app and what they send to the customer is totally different even says half chicken of pollo broster and they send a full box of nasty fries with a over cooked dipping sauce fried chicken leg which is a quarter not even half how they advertise on the Uber eats so please Restaurant Aji Appreciate more your customers and have same respect for your Business and for your clients because if you dont care about customers eventually you will be closed for not having any more customers
My husband and I found this restaurant in Google maps, we checked the menu once we got there the waitress gave us a different menu with different prices, we asked to match the prices because they were misleading, she refused and told us that it was an old menu we asked her to tell the owner to update the menu! Let’s see if they update the menu or they keep tricking people with false advertising! Customers update!
