This is the place to go for a wonderful Italian meal! We had 7 people in our party and our server was amazing. All the food and dessert was incredible. Chef Ramsey would be impressed with how the scallops were prepared. Thank you so to the staff and Chefs for making this a memorable evening.
Nice place. Very good service. The food is good by American standards, but behind from an Italian restaurant in Europe. I had the salmon as a main, which was OK, but nothing special. I suspect the pasta is a better choice in general. The minestrone was OK. Overall this place is worth visiting. The prices are reasonable. A party of two paid $140 (tip included) for 2 starters and 2 mains. No drinks.
Made reservations online and were happy they were honored as the service, atmosphere, and location near our hotel were perfect! I can’t describe how good the pasta was. Ive never been to Italy, but can only imagine it is like this! Our waiter, Charles went above and beyond with impeccable recommendations and who was attentive to my wife’s gluten free allergy. Not sure if & when we will visit SF again, but would highly recommend Fino!
Had dinner at this beautiful Italian restaurant for the first time before a show and really enjoyed everything about the meal: the food, service, and lovely, but not stuffy atmosphere. The portions are generous. I split the Caesar salad and Luisa pizza (spinach, mushrooms, gorganzola among other toppings) with my friend and we were full. Our other friend ordered a mushroom pasta dish. For dessert we had affogatos and the house dessert. The food was all delicious. I can't wait to come back and try other items from the extensive menu. Our server was attentive and cognizant that we had a show to attend so he made sure the food came out quickly but at a pace that allowed us to enjoy our food.
Had an amazing dinner at Fino, San Francisco We didn’t have a reservation, but the staff was incredibly sweet and still made an effort to find us a seat. A special shoutout to Alma, who took such great care of us and made the experience even more wonderful. There are plenty of great vegetarian options — we tried the tortellini pesto and it was delicious. My husband and I shared a pasta, and they thoughtfully split it for us. Even dessert was perfectly customized — we asked for just a single scoop since we weren’t very hungry, and they happily accommodated. Overall, amazing food, warm service, and a lovely experience. Definitely a must-visit!
Many Italian restaurants these days offer gf pasta. But not every place is MAKING their own gluten free pasta! The service was amazing, the host told me they keep the gluten free area separate and ended with “we will take care of you” so kind, truly. Jose, our server was so fun, playing along with our jokes and explaining the menus in detail. Definitely recommend stopping here for some gluten free pasta!!
Fino’s Italian Restaurant- A San Francisco institution. We have been dining at Fino’s for over 30 years, and truly remain an institution in San Francisco. They consistently deliver the best Italian food in the city, paired with exceptional service that makes every visit memorable! A special mention goes to Charles-both manager and waiter who has been there all these years. His dedication and hospitality are unmatched, and he’s a big part of what makes Fino’s feel like home. If you looking for authentic Italian cuisine and top-notch service, Fino’s should be your first choice. It’s more than a restaurant, it’s a tradition and make sure ask for Charles to be your server.
Came here as a last minute option while staying at a nearby hotel. Didn't have reservations (definitely recommend having them) but they had seats at the bar. Let me tell you, Megan the bartender was fabulous! She worked so hard but made sure to treat us and every other person at the bar with a huge smile and great customer service. I can't thank her enough. As for the food, yes please. Started with a caprese as did the couple next to us, two different chefs, two different presentations and both were stunning and delicious. Next I had scallops in an Arrabbiata sauce with noodles. My wife had Salmon with risotto and both were delicious. And from the bar we could see the kitchen (it's very open for all to see but the bar is right there. And wow those guys hustle. I was fascinated watching them work. I think the chef in black probably thinks I was eyeing him because he kept looking at me while I was staring. It was just so interesting to watch them all. I would eat here every day if I could but sadly or San Francisco trip is over.
While in San Francisco for business i has Italian food a few timgs with great disappointment. This gem with a small dining was the only good Italian food we had. Our server Alma was wonderful. Attentive and made great suggestions. My wife went traditional with a Parm, which was well prepared and just enough cheese. I almost always prefer my own sauce made at home as 99% of them are too acidic. But this one was great. I was intrigued by the contadina which means peasant in Italian. Had never heard of it, not Im a HUGE fan! A bowl of veggies, potatoes, chicken, prawns and local Italian sausage. The broth was spectacular! Look forward to another trip back here soon.
Sat at the bar with no reservation and had great service from the bartender, plus we could see into the kitchen. The cooks were HUSTLING and getting food out at an impressive clip. We got the bolognese and tortellini with pesto cream sauce- both served piping hot and were DELICIOUS. No notes! Also kudos to this restaurant for having so many vegetarian options!
This cozy little Italian restaurant offers a warm, intimate atmosphere that feels perfect for a date night or a quiet dinner with friends. The space is charming and inviting, with just the right amount of buzz to make it lively without being overwhelming. The service is exceptional – the staff are attentive, friendly, and make you feel genuinely welcome from the moment you walk in. The dishes are all beautifully prepared and full of flavor. If you’re looking for a place that combines great food, a romantic vibe, and truly lovely service, Fino is an excellent choice. Highly recommended!
Highly recommend! Reservations recommended. Found this place and made a reservation randomly as we were just walking around. One of the best pastas we’ve had in a while. Charles was amazing. He provided great suggestions and very attentive to our needs. They also have gluten free pasta which is made in house ( like the rest of thier pasta), and it was all delicious !! Saved this place and will definitely be coming back and bringing others with us! Also amazing desserts! Thanks again to Charles and the staff for an amazing meal and time.
We were warmly welcomed and seated by Charles, who was incredibly accommodating from the start. He handed us the menus and allowed us plenty of time to browse. Shortly after, we were served water and politely asked if we'd like any other drinks. We ordered an appetizer, salad, entrée, and dessert. Throughout the entire dining experience, the execution, timing, service, and plating were simply exceptional, truly above and beyond. From clearing our plates to removing crumbs and replacing silverware, every detail was thoughtfully handled with precision. This is, without a doubt, the best Italian restaurant I’ve ever experienced. Huge kudos to the chefs, front-of-house staff and everyone behind the scenes for making us feel prioritized and ensuring we fully enjoyed every bite. My mom and I recently had dinner here. This place was a fine Italian restaurant. The service was very good. Our server was very aware of our evening plans simply by noticing the theatre tickets sticking out of my pocket and he made sure we had our food promptly so we wouldn't miss the show. My mom ordered the Gamberi (prawns served with pasta and vegetables) and I ordered the veal Milanese. I have to say I was underwhelmed by my order. It was not quite what I expected. I did not quite enjoy the flavor. I might try a pasta dish if I go there again. We each ordered a different dessert. I will warn you that you really should order one and share it. My mom ordered the chocolate lava cake, and I ordered the zabaglione, served with berries. Zabaglione is a warm Italian custard. Ordering that is a treat because the cook comes to the table and pours it into the glass of berries until it overflows. Both desserts were big so I would advise you to get one dessert for the table and share it. It was a good experience.
Absolutely incredible experience from the start to finish. José was our server and he truly went above and beyond to make our experience exceptional. His recommendations were absolutely delicious, the portions were very generous. We had a party of four and we ordered two pastas, a pizza, a cáptese salad and a bottle of wine. It was more than enough food. The seafood linguine had a lot of seafood in it and the sauce was so tasty. The bolognese pasta had so much meat and it was my personal favorite. For dessert we had the lava cake and it was the best lava cake that I’ve had. We will definitely return to this restaurant.
Me & my girlfriend had the loveliest dinner here. I found this place because they have gluten free pasta on the menu. They offer gluten free garlic fettuccine, which I appreciated so much because I cannot have gluten & have missed eating Italian food. I believe it is made in house. Our waiter was very personable & took my diet very seriously, even telling me what I can & cannot have. We had a caesar salad to start. I loved that they came to the table & freshly grated cheese & pepper. My scallops were cooked perfectly (it is so hard to find perfect scallops) & my girlfriend was impressed with her penne vodka & garlic fries. The only thing I would improve is my pasta was a little bit too al dente - probably needed another minute in the water because it was stiff. Otherwise my meal was amazing. Dessert was out of this world. We finished off with espresso & the chocolate raspberry mousse. I felt nostalgic & a bit emotional because I used to eat at restaurants like this all the time with my family, but have been unable to due to my unfortunate gluten free diet. The check came & I was surprised at how affordable it was. All in all a wonderful experience. Thank you Fino!
The cozy vibe of this place wrapped us up like a warm hug from Nonna. The lighting was soft, and every detail felt thoughtfully curated. The Pollo Alla Parmigiana with its roasted potatoes was a flavor parade we never wanted to end. The garlic cream sauce in pasta abruzzi was bold and balanced at the same time. The melted sugar glaze in the Chocolate Fino was artwork and drew admiration from people at our adjacent table! The cocktail (cannot recollect the name ,’rose glasses’ maybe) was a result of mixology magic happening behind the bar. The dinner felt like a mini-vacation to Italy with every sip and bite. Can’t wait to go back!
Very nice Italian restaurant. Stayed at a hotel nearby and decided to try the local Italian. The restaurant is nice with a cozy atmosphere. Service was great and the food came out relatively fast. The complimentary bread and oil was very good… I had to stop myself from eating all of it. The calamari is cooked very well but does lack some flavor compared to other calamari I have had. I had the fettuccine carbonara as my main course. Full of flavor and cooked to perfection.
A friend booked a dinner for us at Fino - a restaurant I'm happy to discover. Our pastas were terrific and I was delighted to find that they actually have my favorite Italian dessert, Zabaglione, which as you can see from the photo was huge. I took the left overs home and made French Toast with it the following morning. The restaurant has a good ambiance and I really loved the artwork.
