Stopped by Hayz Dog after dinner nearby since we were still a little hungry, and honestly, this ended up being the perfect second dinner. Prices are a bit higher than your average hot dog, but these are hearty, well-built dogs that definitely justify it. I ordered the Hayz, their signature dog, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. If you are looking for an upscale hot dog in San Francisco, this one might take the cake. Great flavor, excellent snap, and very satisfying overall. We also tried the Tramp. Both were solid, with that satisfying bite you want in a good hot dog. The Tramp was tasty, with bacon always being a win, though it leaned a bit spicier than my personal preference. The space itself is small and a little cramped, but that adds to the charm. It feels very new-age San Francisco, blending creativity and a bit of kookiness rather than sticking to traditional East Coast hot dog vibes. There is no seating, but that is not an issue at all since the small park in Hayes Valley is just steps away and makes for a great place to enjoy your food. Overall, a great spot if you are craving something fun, filling, and a little elevated. Definitely worth stopping by, especially if you find yourself wanting a second dinner done right.
Got the bobo with a vegan dog and veganaise, mustard, mustard seeds and ketchup and it was so good! Next time I would likely add more condiments/veggies to balance out the bread as well. It’s a cute spot and love that you can substitute any hot dog for a vegan hot dog (just check that the other toppings are vegan).
Best dog yet!!! Perfect service with a smile and quick, but doesn't hurt the quality of the food. Usually very busy and hard to get into. Food is great and delicious and with every penny. Very reason and delicious. I got the Bobo and my spouse got the Tramp. We also both got the chili. I ordered Ovaltine milkshake and my spouse got a plain villa milkshake. They use Crystal brand ice cream and it is perfect for shakes. TV outside with plenty of seating. Come enjoy a hidden gem on Hayes Street. You will fall in love.
Great joint for quality dogs. Toppings are well selected so it won't feel like you're eating salty toppings on top of a salty dog. It tastes far from that. There seems to be much thought and care that goes into these delicious dogs. They also got a yummy ovaltine milkshake.
The best hot dog I’ve had in my life by an order of magnitude. The sausage was perfectly juicy and thick, and the toppings though unconventional created a match made in heaven. The crisps were also perfectly crispy without being oily. I also really appreciated the friendly and speedy service. My recommendation is to get it to go even though you can also sit there for a quick bite.
July 2024: Came here for lunch and tried the Hayz dog which came with kimchi, Kewpie, spicy ketchup, scallions and fried garlic. Overall, was satisfied with my hot dog. Came with a side of chips. Would come back again if I was craving a hot dog. Next time, I would try one of their other dogs.
Hot dog heaven in the Hayes District! If you think the best hot dogs are stuck somewhere in Chicago or New York, I’m here to tell you they’ve got some competition — right here in San Francisco’s Hayes District. Hayz Dog is a tiny spot with a big personality, and I’d put their dogs up against any west of the Mississippi. My personal go-to? The Bobo, dressed to impress with the usual crowd of condiments and my personal upgrades: perfect, meaty bacon (not thin bargain bin special or looking like it spent time in a microwave) and a punch of garlic. It’s a dog that shows up in style, strutting out on a bed of chips with a side of their special sauce. And yes — the $12–$15 price tag is a bargain for something this satisfying, especially when it’s ready in under five minutes. The menu is refreshingly simple. You won’t need a degree in decision-making — just enough options to keep every type of hot dog fan happy - a tip of the hat to their internationally inspired flavors. And if you like to customize, the condiment upgrades are the real deal. They don’t skimp, they don’t miss, and they turn a good dog into a great one. Inside, seating is cozy — we’re talking four people max — but that’s part of its charm. Outdoors, you’ve got more room via curbside seating, plus a TV usually playing soccer or a movie, so you can enjoy your meal with a little side entertainment. The staff keeps the vibe friendly and relaxed, greeting you with a warm “What can I get you, my friend?” that makes you feel like a regular, even if it’s your first time. Drinks? They’ve got a short but solid lineup: a couple of beers, some wine, and sodas to wash it all down. Simple. Straightforward. Satisfying. If you’re looking for a place where the food is fast, the prices are fair, and the hot dogs are unforgettable, Hayz Dog is your spot. Don’t just take my word for it — go grab a Bobo, add bacon and garlic, and taste why this little stand is serving up the real West Coast wiener wonder!
Hayz Dog is a must for locals and tourists alike. Since the Dapper Dog closed in 2019, San Francisco has been without a true gourmet hot dog restaurant. Not only is Hayz Dog more centrally located but “The Dub” was easily one of the best gourmet hot dogs I’ve ever had. Here’s to hoping their late hours and alcohol license help stimulate Hayes Valley and San Francisco’s night life back to its prime!
Visited "Hayz Dogs" I'm a local in SF and what a delightful find! The ambiance is relaxed with a touch of urban charm. Their gourmet hotdogs are a game-changer; each one carefully curated with unique toppings and flavors that tantalize the taste buds.
Good lunch or late night spot for a hotdog and brew or non-alcoholic beverage. Dog friendly - can lock up dog inside entrance while ordering then sit outside in park-let. Staff is friendly with great & prompt service
You know how people say "I'm not religious, I'm spiritual"? Well I don't eat fast food, but I eat Hayz Dogs. They're sort of a spiritual experience. My first visit, so ordered the gateway dog called Fluky. I customized a bit, no sauce (yuck to mayo), no sweet relish, (kosher dill or nothing), yes yes yes to this flavor bomb in a bun. Perfection. You can eat inside at a small counter, sidewalk tables, or the parklet. Can't wait to eat my way through the menu.
These dogs are delicious 🌭 staff are friendly & helpful—and they’ve even got a liquor license! The Tramp was great but my buddies ate The Fluky and mopped up every last bite with enthusiasm. If you’re hungry and in the area, check this place out 🙌🏻
I ordered the Hayz dog (I love kimchi). I thought it was really good (can you go wrong with a hot dog.. ever?) and the mix of toppings worked really well together. The chips on the side were also good - they taste like ms Vicky’s as opposed to some cheap one. The outside seating is very nice too. It was 12:50 before tax! Google maps may direct you to Ivy Street, but THE ENTRANCE IS ON HAYES.
Good food in San Francisco, the chilie dog is delicious!
So jazzed about this spot! I had a delicious hotdog with chips that complement it well. Very friendly and down-to-earth staff 👍🏼 Definitely swinging by regularly! 😋🌭

Hayz Dog does better Chicago dogs than Chicago and I say that as a longtime Chicago resident. Great staff, food selection and restrooms for customers.

The tub steaks are fantastic! I am currently working my way through the menu the "Chicago dog" is my favorite all of the fresh ingredients like the mustard seeds, fresh relish. The bonmi is just as good. I also enjoyed the chips on the side with their homemade dipping sauce.

The hot dogs were good, quite the interesting combinations, and the ingredients were fun. We had the Flunky, a twisty take on the standard Chicago dog with mustard and relish, and the Tramp, with bacon and serrano peppers. Both very good. It's a little expensive, but that's everywhere nowadays with inflation. Service was great and seating was on the street outside, very pleasant.
Ordered via Uber Eats and the order was ready right when I arrived. It’s a small place with a few bar seats. I ordered the Hayz Dog and as you can see from the pic, it was very nicely presented. And that was after picking it up and walking ~10 minutes to my place to sit down and enjoy my meal. It has a good dog to bun to ingredients ratio. The hot dog was very flavorful and it pairs well with the chips. I also ordered the Corny Companion which is like a deconstructed elote. It’s nice to eat it that way as it’s less messy and it’s pretty good but nothing beats an elote on the cob. If I were to go back, I would eat everything then and there to maintain its freshness.
I've walked by here a few times and the cartoon dog looks so funny I had to try it. Service was quick and efficient. My order was packed well and it came with chips. The Dub is their version of a chili cheese dog and it was tasty. It came with Fritos and green onions for extra flavor and texture. I ate it while walking home and enjoyed it. The bread was soft and it could be better if they buttered and toasted it but it satisfied my craving. $15 for a hot dog is pricey but it was convenient and a once-in-a-while treat. They have nice outdoor seating and a TV which makes it a Hayes Valley neighborhood sleeper for a quick place to grab a bite and beer.

Great hot dogs with a lot of original choices, they even have Ban Mhi. Staff is really cool. I also love the design of the shop. Worth a try!

A bit overpriced but nice tasting dogs. Great service tho!

This place is great for a quick bite, plus it's close by and better than Costco dogs, a bit $$ more, but hey still better.
