This place is hands down my favorite place to get fish tacos. I think we have all been disappointed with underwhelming fish tacos but this place knows how to do it right. I prefer the Baja style fish tacos but the Mahi Mahi ones are also pretty good. The value for these can't be beat anywhere else: here they charge $5.95 for 2 Baja fish tacos where as other places charge $6 for one. Absurd. The burritos are also good and the wet burrito is huge so you can definitely share that. Chips are homemade, delicious, and complimentary. And their pico de gallo is done right where there's a good tomato to onion ratio. Highly recommend to anyone looking for good Mexican food in the Sunset. Always nice to support local businesses too!
This place was recommended by a co-worker. I've had various burritos & tacos here. My absolute favorite thing so far is their Shrimp burrito with black bean. SO good. Still trying new things. I highly recommend this place.
Way under rated. The only mexican food I can eat without getting heart burn The only burrito (3 so far) I can eat without bighting into a nasty chunk of fat And really good seafood. The wet burrito is a 4 star dish. Resturaunt is a A+ KEEP IT UP PLEASE!!
The 3 Pepper Burrito is one of the best burritos in SF imo. Great breakfast burritos too if you can make it there before 11. Solid choices if the line at the breakfast sandwich spot is too long. Chorizo burrito is served all day though for the late risers. Quick service, and a free little serving of pico and chips.
Great menu selection and great prices. Had the mahi mahi and Baja fish tacos and both were incredible! Best Baja fish taco I’ve ever had. Came with a side of chips and salsa too- perfect. 10/10
They have michelin level super nachos. If you get refried beans, it's hard to find better nachos. Also, there are great quesadillas and burritos.
As a local, I always come back. In fact, I make it a habit to eat a burrito here before and after I travel home for the holidays. It feels like a family owned restaurant and they have been here for a while. I have known them for more than 5 years. Also, there special chipotle sauce is amazing. Not sure what everyone is expecting on their chips. They add no salt, it is just deep fried corn chips. If you are looking for a non-salt choice, I would eat them. I like it. If you have the time. Come to this little gem and try their food for yourself.
The food here is very good. The fajita platter had plenty of chicken(I’d already eaten half when I took the pic) which was nice and the sauce was tasty. Just the right amount of spice! Would definitely go here again
The Chile relleno burrito with pinto beans is excellent. Very much recommend … sat on a log at the beach to eat it. The log stained my pants, but the burrito was a 5 star performer.
I think this was THE best horchata I’ve ever had. I was hungry from doing DoorDash so I stopped to eat in the neighborhood. Also SUPER amazing steak fajitas. Thank you 😊 I’ll definitely return!
Quick and friendly service, big and tasty burritos. Worth visiting if you feel a need for a quick bite.
Fish tacos were really good. Loved them. Services was fast and the employees nice. Would definitely recommend them.
This place is the BEST! 💯 BEST FOOD & SERVICE !!!! 🥳😍 This is how you RUN A BUSINESS! Happy, loyal customers & WE got you next time!
Fresh and delicious. I thought the salsa was very spicy. Everything was good.

Great fish tacos and friendly service!
Excellent breakfast burrito. Bacon is high quality and free chips with food. Near beach!
I've been here twice and both times I left happily satisfied. I've only had the super veggie burrito ($6.47 total, black beans, rice, salsa, lettuce, guacamole, and complimentary chips and salsa) and I prefer it over anything on Burrito Express' veg menu. The burritos were well wrapped, not soggy, and the tortilla was nicely toasted. Service was quick and very friendly. Definitely coming back.
I like a restaurant where you can see that every ingredient is being prepared just for you and fresh. It takes a while for some of the dishes but that is because it is all prepared fresh. I love this place for any variation of food I order. I like how the menu is separated between surf and turf and vegetarian and chicken. It is helpful. But back to the food, they never disappoint. The space is small and mostly I've seen people take out. I have only done take out but everything is wrapped well and stays warm. For a few weeks it was cash only, now they take cards again. I would bring both in case.

Friendly, quick service. Big cheesy plate of nachos are a good deal. Burritos do the job, though I wish more taquerias would grill their tortillas before wrapping. This helps keep the ends from getting so gummy, though that's my sweetie's favorite part.
Had a chicken super burrito. It was so big, could serve for 2 meals, but more importantly it was on point, especially for a chicken burrito. Usually beef/ carne asada is th best on any menu so I gotta go back to try that. My gf had the veggie super burrito and she was impressed by that one too!
I'm not a fan of rice in my burrito, and they will gladly leave it out if you ask. Food has always been tasty. Salsa could be a bit more spicy though.
Excellent tacos! Prior to eating here I didn't even like tacos. Service is speedy and friendly. The price is right, they're cheaper than the taquerias in the Mission district. The shrimp tacos are a bit hipster/yuppified. They have cabbage, but if you were looking for large tasty shrimp, not so much. Last reviewed 8/2016 Reviewed 6/2016. Excellent tacos! Seems like the safest bet here, oddly enough, are the fish tacos. I can’t speak for the rest of the food but the baja fish tacos were pretty good, especially for the price. They come with this funky “guacamole” which really just feels like avocado goo, which wasn’t great but that’s my only complaint.
Good food. Good service. Burritos have gotten skinnier. Don't know if that is the Door Dash version or the actual in store. No where near a Mission burrito any more.

I like La Playa Taqueria because the food is generally very good. The prices are reasonable and the staff is hard working but friendly. It is close to my house which makes it convenient. Service is fast. While I order mostly take out there are a few tables and a counter for inside dining. I recommend La Playa for good Mexican food in the Sunset District in San Francisco.
The food is good. Their green salsa is amazing though. My go to is the 3 pepper burrito. It's basically a fajita burrito with your choice of meat, peppers, and onions with rice and beans. We've had a couple orders get messed up though, so be specific and check them before you leave.

Taco salad was actually a flat pile of wet shredded lettuce, to kinds of beans, and some beef, completely unseasoned and colorless. Also, no chips or salsa or even hot sauce! BLAAAAND. Avoid it if you have the choice.
Call me ravenous but a basic, not-good, super veggie burrito shouldn't cost $14.40 before tip unless it's going to fill me up. Too pricey for what is.
Food and service is OK. Considering the only mexican spot (taqueria style) in the outer sunset. A lunch spot for sure, food prices went up so you can expect to get a super burrito now for over $10 vs, last year's prices where under $8 for the same burrito. The taste of the carne asada was a bit salty for me, but the chips and salsa are really well made. The 3 stars was mainly for the chips and salsa.
Medium quality burritos, good pricing assuming you're paying in cash. Credit cards are subject to a surcharge (it is illegal to charge a la carte fees for the use of a credit card in the state of California, and doubly so due to it being against the merchant payment agreement for Visa and American Express). Nice atmosphere though and overall decent cleanliness.
Tacos here are average. Three tacos. Fish, shrimp and mahi mahi tacos with a coke were $14. The little fish taco had this purple cabbage and needed a bit more seasoning. A wedge of lime would have been nice. The shrimp taco contained three shrimps with regular cabbage and an orange sauce. The mahi mahi taco was dry and a little burnt. There are much better taco places in the city. Perhaps I should have been less adventurous and stay with my regular spots.

There was a time that the burritos here were consistently well flavored and filling. I moved away and came back and every time I go it’s a gamble. There are times where it’s flavorful but last night I was so disappointed I had to write in and say something. I ordered a super veggie with avocado instead of guacamole - which they charged me $2.50 extra for when other taquerias will just change without a fee as I’m not requesting anything extra. I came home after paying $17.50 (ridiculous!!!) to bite into a burrito that was lettuce, sour cream, beans and pico de gallo all of which had zero flavor. There was no cheese, no avocado nor guacamole despite paying $2.50 extra. The women working there are always so nice and friendly, I don’t understand what happened over the last few years but I can’t justify paying for food that lacks flavor and paying extra for ingredients I don’t even receive. Guess EBX is the sunset go to for burritos from now on.
What has happened to you? We come here often (once a week at least) but the last 3 or 4 times our orders have been incomplete (as in missing items: last Friday, an entire platter was missing and no shrimp in my shrimp tacos, even after the checkout girl read the order back to us!) or incredibly small portions in other cases (last night, my chicken taco had maybe one tablespoon of chicken in it and friend got a tine bit of fish in his fish taco.) The trouble is, by the time I get home, and taken a bite, I am not in the mood to go back and start all over again. I feel like I have to now inspect what's inside the box each time I pick up an order. I am sorry I have to write this because you are nice people but some of your staff need a little training.

The prices were okay for SF, but the food wasn't very good. The fish in the fish taco was undercooked, and the slaw made the whole thing reek of mayonnaise. The chile relleno burrito was a molten, greasy mess of mostly pepper jack cheese. I really wasn't impressed.
Terrible customer service. My family and I came in more than half an hour before close and were kicked out once we got our food. Literally told "this is to go" once handed our burrito. If you want to sit and enjoy your food for a moment, not the place to go.
Just looking for a warm place on a rainy day to get some decent Mexican food. Very disappointed - the person at the cash register couldn't be nice to anyone, the place was pretty dirty (had to move to find a clean table), the AC was blowing cold on a cold day and I thought maybe, just maybe the food would be good. Forget that! I usually don't post negative comments unless they are more than warranted.
I've always wanted to try this Mexican restaurant and I finally had the chance today. I ordered the super burrito (steak) with regular nachos. I would say that their burritos were average and their nachos were okay too - overall an average experience. One thing that was a turn off was the point of contact with the female employee. She seemed like she didn't like her job and was giving a death stare.
Their platters were good but the burritos -even the breakfast burritos- we lacking compared to what you can get in other parts of the city. Maybe we came on an off-morning; we'll give it another shot soon
Worst super burrito ever! There was barely any Carne asada, avocado, and sour cream. The meat had no flavor, and again, I could barely find the sour cream & avocado. Perhaps I am spoiled living in the Mission, but this was no bueno!
Came here for a breakfast burrito one weekend because the Devil's Teeth line was insane. I think i got the Mexican Burrito. It was okay, nothing really special going on here, but nothing stands out as bad either. There was A LOT of gristle/fatty meat in the burrito which was gross and disappointing. They also have a fee for all credit card transactions which is very silly. If you want to be cash only then do it, don't do this weird middle ground where you punish the customer for wanting convenience.
Place has been going downhill for years. Same staff, so they're just becoming less motivated while they price they charge keeps rising. The cashier's are indifferent to rude depending on the day. One time they left me on hold on the phone (waited 20 minutes before I gave up). Food quality has been getting worse. Meat is overly salted. Carne asada is inedible at this point. They also nickel-and-dime on sauce and don't do custom orders
At Gordo's Taqueria on Clement, customers are acknowledged, politely asked what they would like. And the burrito tastes good. At La Playa Taqueria, my family was just a number. Horrible customer service and my family won't return.
today is April 26. I went to buy two regular burritos. where is the meet they put 5 small pieces in. the worst Mexican restaurant in the city.
The Super Veggie Burrito is listed as containing rice, beans, cheese, guacamole, sour cream, lettuce and salsa. I ordered 2 to go. They asked me what kind of beans. I said refried. I get home and realize they gave us 2 burritos with lettuce and rice. Just an end to a long day, I guess.
The food "looked" good. My daughter and I just ordered asada fries. Worst version I've ever had. This place is over priced for the quality you receive. They skimp on the fries and of coarse the meat. It's way over cooked, flavorless and dry! No crema just soaked in pico de gallo. That's literally all you taste. I never take the time out of my day to write a review like this. I wish I could get my money back. They really need to step their game up with all of the options for Mexican food out here. Don't waste your time or money.
Rude person answered the phone and ended up hanging up on me twice when I tried to make an order
My friend and I got burritos here a few days ago and they tasted awful and were constructed very poorly. The flavors were all off and the way the toppings were layered made no sense and detracted from the experience of an already terrible burrito.
$13 super burrito tasted simply awful, forced myself to eat half but couldn’t eat any more. My aunt said the veggie burrito was terrible as well and couldn’t eat more than a few bites. Neither of us are picky eaters.
