Outerlands is a lovely oasis of fresh baked bread and homemade soup in the Sunset District. I booked dinner reservations here for my birthday and was warmly greeted with a glass of sparkling rosé. My server was so friendly and genuine and took excellent care of me! The walls and ceiling are made from weathered wood and all the food is local and organic. Chef Landa prepares delicious, hearty, and attractive appetizers, meals and desserts. I ordered the beans and greens: bone broth, cannellini beans, kale, and grana padano cheese, served with pain au levain.. it was so good! I also enjoyed a hibiscus margarita, which was beautiful and refreshing, and took home a chocolate chip cookie for dessert. Yum! Highly recommend making a reservation, especially for brunch, as this is a very popular neighborhood restaurant and fills up fast everyday of the week.
Autopsy Joe and I were on our way out to Ocean Beach for a little Surf Pearch and Crab fishing and thought we'd snag a little breakfast before we got to the sand. Well, it was dark, cold, and damp and Joe says we'll stop at the Outerlands breakfast restaurant because not only is the food amazingly delicious... but they're open! Sometimes it's hard to find a really good breakfast restaurant that's open this early in the morning, but the Outerlands is a true morning miracle! 5 stars and worthy of a stop! ☆☆☆☆☆
The food was excellent and the homemade bread and butter is absolutely out of this world. We had 6 people and ordered a bunch of things and almost everything was top notch. The potato leek soup could be creamier and more savory instead of sour and the cavatelli was on the saltier side. Also there was a really long lull between the appetizers and mains. It felt like we waited 20 min to half an hour to get our mains. But excellent service and loved the cauliflower, Brussels, chicken, pork chop and trout!
Fantastic cocktails and stellar service and ambiance at this upscale cozy neighborhood spot. Apps were really tasty as was the house-made pappardelle. Smash Burger was fine, but I’ll opt for something else next time.
Outerlands has it all. Great cocktails, delicious food and incredible vibe/atmosphere. I love this place because it's a nice restaurant but not too nice where you feel weird if you didn't dress up. I haven't had the chance to stop by for brunch but it is always busy around that time. The dinner menu is fantastic and the fried chicken on Mondays is worth going for.
This place is super cozy! We were able to get a seat for 2 for dinner without a reservation. The place had just the right amount of people chatting it up. The service was quick, the servers seemed happy, and the food was impeccable. I will concede that it was $36 for a chicken dinner, and I thought that was a little pricey, but it was honestly a really good meal and was worth the price. We got some of their fresh baked bread w/ butter and that was delicious, too.
This place is so fantastic. You can’t order wrong. Usually there’s a line but I think 30 min or under is totally worth it. The lemon ginger cider is sharp and fresh. The veggie grain bowl was crispy and not over spiced. The egg sandwich was a yummy mix of cheese, aioli, and a delicate brioche bun.
If you are looking for a warm welcoming neighborhood restaurant with over the top food and a charming staff, Outerlands is your stop on the N-Judah line. We were impressed with the friendly staff who genuinely want to be there, which can be a challenge in today’s restaurant business. I credit this to Riley, the owner, who is present and willing to take the time to meet his guests. The food just adds to the deliciously warm environment starting with the chicken bone broth (served hot in their cozy mugs) followed by lamb meatballs on top of butternut squash purée (we had to place a second order because they’re that good). The kale salad was so inviting I forgot to take a picture so I didn’t make that mistake when our dinner entrees - cioppino and trout were served. We shared the rice pudding to cap off the night. This place was definitely a San Francisco treat delivered with warm and friendly authenticity. Make sure to take home some freshly made (hot out of the oven) sourdough bread on your way out.
Have been to Outerlands multiple times, a gorgeous interior that feels cozy and hip. All the dishes I’ve had have been great or delicious :) really hope this place sticks around for a while. Fair portions for the prices + vibes off the charts Over the summer I had their house-made tagliatelle and halibut, fresh buttery balanced flavorful and summery. Started off with such a unique log cabin asparagus egg dish which surprised me as my favorite dish of the night. Bread is always fresh and warm RECENTLY I had their Monday evening cannellini beans dish, warmed me right up after I had a red nose from ocean beach wanderings. A rich broth but still light as a soup, LOVED the Al dente cook of it, not shelly but the perfect teeth to the coziness, paired perfectly with the bread 5 stars. Side note: can’t go wrong with coffee and dessert there, haven’t had a miss on multiple tries
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Outerlands in San Francisco is an absolute gem! My brother and sister-in-law recently took me here, and it was an unforgettable experience. The location is perfect, nestled in a charming neighborhood, and the atmosphere and decorations are simply stunning. 🌿✨ The food? Absolutely amazing! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. 🍽️ Everything we tried was delicious and beautifully presented. The service was prompt and incredibly friendly, making us feel right at home. 🥂 Pro tip: Ask your server for recommendations on the ample drink menu – you won't regret it! 🍹🍷 This place is a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy a fantastic meal in a cozy, welcoming setting. Can't wait to go back!

Let’s start with the not-so-great points: The wait times here are very long. We had signed up for a table outside, but unfortunately, we ended up inside because others who arrived after us were seated ahead of us. That was disappointing, especially since we had to sit indoors when time got tight. Oh, and they forgot to prepare one of our dishes – a breakfast sandwich. To their credit, even though the kitchen was already closed, they still went out of their way to make it for us, which was really nice. Now, onto the good stuff – and there’s a lot! Their coffee is absolutely amazing, brewed with a La Marzocco espresso machine that delivers every time. The food? Outstanding. The grilled cheese sandwich is a masterpiece (seriously, I’m a fan), and the pudding is also excellent. Yes, the place is wildly expensive, but despite everything, I’d definitely go back. The quality of the coffee and food makes it worth a visit, even if you need to pack a little extra patience.

The food is good, including the combination of ingredients. The food and drinks are pricey, even before the 10% total fees, with some of the portions being small.

Outerlands was very good. It's dog friendly and the staff are nice. I would recommend getting the Dutch baby and the smashed potatoes

Parking is a real nightmare. We spent at least 15 minutes circling for a spot and ended up parking about a 10-minute walk away from the restaurant, even on a Thursday night. Plan accordingly. Inside, the tables are very small. Don’t expect to sit comfortably if you have more than a couple of dishes or just want some personal space. That said, the food is solid. The pork chop was excellent, very flavorful with a great sauce that’s rich but not heavy. The fish was also very good. Although the restaurant is labeled “New American,” the food doesn’t really feel that way to me. The flavors are on the lighter side, not salty, and fairly straightforward. Overall, I’d rate the food an 8/10. One more thing to note: there’s a 5% employee health fee added to the bill, and you’re still prompted to tip on top of that. I tipped an additional, bringing the total to 15%, which feels fairly standard, but if you’re not paying attention, the final amount can add up quickly.
Amazing food deserves all the hype. Reviewing the menu, ordering, and paying outside in the cold for brunch sucks though, let's be honest. Perusing a menu and debating between choices is supposed to be a restaurant highlight. This place takes that from you and instead pressures you to choose quickly while you shiver and while people are waiting behind you. Also, our food came 10 minutes before our coffee and drinks - that would never happen anywhere else. Don't bring your parents here, they'll hate it.
Not sure what the hype is about. Pay first outside. Overpriced brunch food. Interior is loud. Narrow tables Dutch baby pancake - good but small Breakfast sandwich - nice garlicky cheesy egg on brioche. Expected more eggs for the price. Felt like I ate mostly bread. Grain bowl - good Good to try once but I might not go back

Very disappointed in the new counter service system that was launched on a Saturday. We paid $100 for 2 people to stand in line to order, seat ourselves, get our own utensils and water. Orange juice is not fresh, congee was not hot, we never got cream for our coffee. Mortadella sandwich was good but for that price the experience was not worth the value. We tipped 20% at the counter but definitely would not do that again. Please consider reducing prices if switching your entire service model.
Decent food and cute/cozy vibe, but the experience was ruined by junk fees. This is essentially a fast casual brunch spot. There's a 5% health fee and a 5% service fee, which the restaurant makes very clear on the menu that these are not part of the gratuity. In addition, you order with the hostess before getting seated and tip upfront instead of after the meal. So you're essentially paying at least a 28% fee just to sit at a table that turned out to have no actual service. After we got our food, nobody checked in on us. The breakfast sandwich was pretty good. The dutch pancake was kind of bland and flavorless. Not coming back.
Dutch pancake ($20) is so special and rare. It's poufy and airy inside and crunchy on the outside. The housemade ricotta is very mild and lacks a milky flavor, and not worth the extra $2. I asked f…
