This place is absolutely sick. Let me tell you, when I first walked in around 9:30pm I wasn't sure what to expect but slowly as the night progressed I found myself on the dance floor with two drinks in my hand. The DJs were so fire, playing a wide range of music and keeping it groovy. There is a backdoor patio with great seating and those giant metal heaters to keep everyone warm. The bartenders were enthusiastic and enjoying their night while making us amazing drinks. Speaking of drinks, the cocktails were delicious and the beers were great on draft, also not expensive. I see no reason why I wouldn't start or end my night here every night out. Will be back soon.

I was a little sad to see Virgil’s close but when MOTHERSHIP opened after I’m quite happy! This place has really fun drinks, a quirky little dance floor, and a really great patio. Glad to have it in the neighborhood.

We needed this! A great new cocktail bar in the mission that'll also sever you a canned beer. Something for everyone! The bar has a great space-aged look with curving walls and mood lighting. They have DJ's if you want to dance or you can hang on the huge outdoor patio which has heat lamps and ample seating. Plus the staff is super friendly and have been working in the neighborhood for years!

Cool retro space aesthetic and friendly staff, cocktails are well priced too only $14. Enjoyed stopping by while I was visiting SF, if I was a local I’d come again for sure

Came on a karaoke night. People were having a great time. The staff were super friendly. Drinks were strong. Mood lighting definitely is on theme. Fun art installations as well.

I had my friend’s surprise party here, it was such a great place and venue! The staff were so nice and helpful. The drinks were amazing. Everything was perfect, highly recommend going here with your friends!

The indoor space is cozy and small, with a much larger patio area at the back. I've been here once a month for several months for Trek Triv (ST trivia nights, that feature a guest trivia host and a burger stand) and if you are a fan, this is well worth a visit.

I had a controller really fun nights at The Mothership in July. The drinks were unique and tasty. The staff was friendly and funny. I love the patio and the dance floor. Can’t wait to go back!!!

Hard to tell how they stay in business. Kind of a large bar right next door to El Rio. Patio is nice. Plenty of tables but very much lacking in chairs. Never would have rntered this place if my friends hadn't insisted. Probable won't be back.

Unfortunately, the experience at Mothership was tainted by poor customer service. The bartender was unnecessarily rude and quick to jump to conclusions when one of my friends hit “no tip” on the card reader—without knowing that I was planning to leave a cash tip instead, as someone who works in the service industry and understands the value of tipping in cash. Rather than asking politely, the bartender abruptly asked, “Why no tip?” and then refused to serve us further, even going so far as to ask my friend, “Why are you here?” It felt incredibly judgmental and unprofessional, especially since we had just arrived and were ordering our first round. Everyone has their own circumstances, and hospitality workers should always lead with empathy, not assumptions. The drinks were fine—nothing particularly special—and the atmosphere and music were actually pretty enjoyable. I would have rated the place much higher if it weren’t for the treatment we received. Hopefully, it was just an off night, but it definitely soured the experience for our group.

$10 cover. Lackluster DJ. Dance floor was sticky and more like a room with lights. Laughable lack of bathrooms, 40 minute lines. Bartender got defensive when trying to wave him down, and verbally shared his disapproval when I understandably didn't tip him well... Trash place. Plenty other places to go to to have a good time
