Amazing amazing amazing food! It reminds me so much of my childhood. The nuggets were so good, the hamburger just took me back and the fries were like sooo much better than the actual McDonald's fries. Also shoutout to the Mr Charlies sauce. It was great. Will definitely definitely come back

I had wanted to try Mr Charlie's for so long and during a recent trip to San Francisco was able to go a few times! Such a great fast food indulgence! I can't wait to visit again.

I was intrigued by Mr. Charlie's and had to experience it for myself. I was thoroughly impressed, returning twice in a row! The food quality is notably superior, offering a refreshing alternative. The atmosphere is very comfortable, and the creative display out front is a delightful touch. The staff provided exceptional service, contributing to a truly positive experience. The fries are unique; for optimal enjoyment, I recommend eating them immediately upon serving. I am eager to return and highly recommend Mr. Charlie's. Every so often I miss a burger from the other place but not enough to spend money there or deal with the digestive consequences of eating there. This more than filled that craving and didn't leave me feeling like death after the meal. Excellent burger and fries.

Amazing vegan McD******'s knockoff! Burgers are good and tastes very very close to the original. The chicken nuggets also very similar if you're eating it with the classic BBQ or sweet and sour sauces, without the sauces though, then the tofu/soy flavors are noticeable. Fries were close in taste as well, though not as satisfying as the rest.. The frownie face box though is the chef's 😘 to top of this experience! Definitely a new go-to for when we're craving fast food, but don't want to feel as guilty.

My absolute favorite are their Not Chicken nuggets with bbq dipping sauce and their frownie fries. The nuggets are crispy as well as their fries if you eat them there which I did. And since I live in the east bay, I decided to take food to go. In order to get the fries crispy, I suggest you broil them but make sure they don’t burn! I tried their Mr. Rack which is the bbq burger and it was yummy. I also had their Mr. Royal with cheese, Not A Chicken sandwich, Not Chicken nuggets (a must), and their Not A Cheeseburger. All so damn good! I ate them over 3 days and they heat up well in the microwave but definitely broil the fries and nuggets to get them crispy again. Sauces I highly recommend are the bbq, chipotle, and sweet n sour. But all the rest have a great flavor as well. Even my nieces and my dad who are not vegan love Mr. Charlie’s waaaaaaay better than McDonald’s (read fast food nation, they are so gross! I don’t know how people can eat there, seriously.) Mr. Charlie’s was chill and quiet. Clean and great overall experience to eat there. I went on a weekday though. Main ordering is through their kiosk. Staff members were nice too! Anyone that claims Mr. Charlie’s food is not good is probably one of those vegan food haters just looking to bring down ratings for vegan food places. Don’t trust those reviews!

Saw this when I was here last year and didn't get a chance to try it. Happy to see it's still here and seemingly doing well. Wonderful Burger and nugs. Will be on my list each time I visit

They really nailed the aesthetic ✨️it even smells like a McD*nald's from the seasonings. Pricier, but higher quality and without the animal abuse so worth it to me. The batter fried nuggets and shoestring fries are fantastic. Great vegan breakfast options too. We got the Double and while good, was a goopy mess from the cheese. I would not recommend eating at location for any burger with cheese as it'll get all over your hands and unfortunately they don't have any wet wipes or a bathroom to clean your hands after.

Tasty vegan McDonalds replica . The cheese burger reminded me more of the authentic McDonald's flavor then the big Mac replica did . Pretty pricey but worth it once in a while . Gives you a similar experience to McDonald's flavor wise ,with a nice artsy interior . I'd call it a must try for vegans ! Crappy meals come w you're choice of burger or chicken samdwich, fries ,chicken nuggets ,and a drink . Also funny that it's directly across the street from a real McDonald's 😂

Don't expect McDonald's. The burgers start at $6 (pre-tax) here. The food definitely isn't fast; I waited over twenty minutes for my burger. I don't know what they were doing, but I've cooked Impossible burgers and I know it doesn't take that long. Impossible burgers taste meaty, but not quite there. I didn't like the burger, but it tasted as expected. The burger was squished to give it that McDonald's look. If you're a vegetarian, this place has the cheapest vegetarian burgers that I know of. This place is very social media-friendly. It's definitely an interesting place to visit, but once you've been here, you've been here. I came here to check it out, not for the food.

I’ve wanted to try this place for a long time. Took my very meat eater dad, and he loved all, couldn’t believe it was all vegan. I love it, after more than 10 years eat a vegan big mc was incredible. Classic mc Donald’s taste but way better, without any meat or dairy. The combo came with medium/big fries, 5 chicken nuggets and the burger you chose. Just giving 4⭐️ because there’s no bathroom or place to wash my hands

Food: The food was fantastic and brought back memories of McDonald’s, which I haven’t had in many years. The portion sizes are comparable to McDonald’s—small but satisfying. While it’s definitely pricier, the flavor makes it worth it. The food came out quickly, and the fries were generous in quantity. Their sauces were a highlight for me—I tried the chipotle aioli, the green sauce, and the Chuck sauce, which tasted just like In-N-Out’s signature sauce. Service: This is where my experience took a disappointing turn. Initially, the service was pleasant. The worker was friendly and brought our food to the booth, which was a nice touch. However, the mood shifted when, at 11:20 PM, he approached us and asked us to start finishing up because the restaurant closes at 12:00 AM. This felt odd since we weren’t even there for a long time and were well within the listed operating hours. By 11:35-11:40 PM, as we waited for our Uber, he told us we could no longer stay, claiming he had a lot of tasks to complete before closing. When I asked if the closing hours were changing (since Google and the signage indicated they close at midnight), he simply reiterated that we couldn’t stay. This felt rushed and unwelcoming, especially since we were planning to leave well before 12:00 AM. Additionally, I noticed he turned away multiple customers who arrived as early as 30-40 minutes before closing, saying they weren’t taking any more orders. If you’re going to stop serving or close earlier, please update your hours to reflect that. Asking diners to leave well before closing is not a great experience for paying customers Atmosphere: The ambiance of the restaurant is a standout feature. It has a clean, minimalistic design that feels thoughtfully curated. The nostalgic touches in the decor give it a retro fast-food vibe, but with a modern and polished twist. Everything felt organized and well-maintained, which added to the overall dining experience. Overall: While the food and atmosphere were impressive, the service left me with mixed feelings. The rushed and unwelcoming attitude during the last part of our visit significantly impacted our experience.

I looked for vegetarian near Inion Square and found this small fast-food style eatery. I ordered a “not a burger” for about $7. It was good. Not awesome, but fine if you’d like a healthy version of McDonald’s. I cancelled the $3.50 bottle of water - too expensive! The decor is cheery. You are served your food in a paper wrapper and bag with condiments already in the sandwich.

I was intrigued by the satirical concept. I got their breakfast sandwich just to see what vegan cheese and egg taste like, and it was shockingly close to the real thing. Service was nice, they made my food to order and it only took 5 minutes or so. Some small downsides - I wasn't impressed with them not serving coffee (their coffee machine was "on the way"), and they couldn't accept my payment in cash (register did not have enough change for payment with $10). Otherwise I'd definitely come here again if I were a local in search of vegan fast food.

Went to Mr. Charlies and thought it was funny that’s it’s across the street from McDonald’s. Love the ambiance and the whole “don’t look at me like I’m a piece of meat” theme. The food tasted exactly like McDonald’s. I had their version of the Big Mac and Nuggets. They had a green dipping sauce which was pretty good as well. They don’t have fountain soda’s so you have to have bottle or canned. Service was fine. You just place an order with the cashier. It is pretty expensive for nuggets burgers and fries but worth a try for the experience.

I live for the fact that Mr. Charlie's is located right across the street from McDonald's. You can't deny it's hilarious but hey, a lot of fast food places use the red-yellow color scheme to make you hungry and it works. The fully vegan burger shop hits on nostalgia especially for people like me that no longer eat meat. The shop was cooky but fun with a few tables inside these large Mr. Frownie boxes. They use impossible patties for their meat and offer a similar menu to the golden arches. Being breakfast time, I decided on the Mr.Muffin that used Justegg and an impossible breakfast patty. The food reminded me so hard of the old McD days that I have to give them their flowers. I also got to try their fries and while it didn't quite hit the same, they were still very good. Although it's meant to parody McDonald's, the prices are steeper. But you are also getting better food with higher quality. Strangely, we arrived at 9 when they opened for breakfast and their cashier hadn't arrived, so we were asked to order for pickup on Ubereats (which have higher pricing). A bit of a let down but we were already there and wanted to try their food. Definitely come maybe closer to 10 or later.

This place is pricey but good quality vegan 🪴 🌱 🌿 🌾 or plant based burgers 🍔 & nuggets, the fries 🍟 is good as well! Along with their sodas less then 18 grams of sugar delicious! But thankfully they have bottled colas ❤️ definitely their peach 🍑 sodas is super good!

We picked up our order and it was pretty fast in less than 10 minutes. Everything is vegetarian which is great. We ordered chicken nuggets, a chicken sandwich, French fries, and a cheeseburger. We also got green sauce, white sauce, chipotle aioli, and Mr. Chunk sauce. Overall, the portions were small. The cheeseburger was delicious—really flavorful and close to the meat. The chicken sandwich and nuggets were okay, but they tasted quite different from typical chicken. We loved the green sauce, Chunk sauce, and the chipotle aioli. However, we didn’t like the white sauce; it was way too sweet. Overall, I’ll go there again, but I’ll stick to the cheeseburgers and skip the chicken.

I'd be willing to bet a non vegan could not tell the difference between the two. Burgers are also awesome!! Downsides: :-( Ice cream machine is still down :-( :-( Have to pay for a coke refill :-( Thank you for doing your part to save the animals and planet!! Ice cream on the 3rd visit? Fingers crossed!! Their not a cheeseburger reminded me of an elementary school cafeteria cheeseburger but it was pretty good! The cheese and pickles and sauces tasted like a McDonald’s cheeseburger to me! It is a little pricy. You can order on the kiosk or at a register and the workers are pretty quick. For a Friday late night it wasn’t busy. They have all of the main McDonald’s style options but vegan. They didn’t have any of the desserts available though. People were coming in to try to get that. Lots of seating inside, some street parking out front. Definitely worth a try!

The fries were great though. It’s pretty spacious inside and the hamburger didn’t taste too much like a meat substitute which was good. Solid 4, it would get a 5 if it was cheaper.

One of the best, maybe the best vegan burger I’ve had. It’s so good. Perfectly well made! The fries are good too, just normal fries. Although their double burger is great. I highly recommend it. The inside has a nice concept, although it all seems a bit dirty, and sticky. Staff is njce. Definitely not a cheap meal. About $20 bucks for a combo meal.

Not a vegetarian at the slightest but the not a double double was good. It had everything a burger would have cheese, pickles, mustard, smoke flavored it was so close to an actual hamburger. The fries were regular fries, good. Can’t complain about a bottled coke classic either. The chicken nuggets on the other hand were gross. They had no texture other than the outer shell and it was bland. Interesting gimmick, visiting the shop itself is an experience but it is not fast food. It takes a good long wait, not sure if that’s on purpose though. Overall it’s ok and it’s interesting but definitely overpriced for what is.

So, the thing about this place is it's anti-McDonald's theme, while vegan, the food tastes just like the McDonald's I remember from childhood. The nutrition profile isn't great; you'd be hard pressed to get a meal with a lot of protein, but if you're looking to indulge, this place might be for you. No diet soda option, only a low calorie soaking water. Not a lot of menu options - you've got the burgers, fries and chicken sandwich/nuggets. No dessert options or frils. Wish burgers came with tomato. **There is no restroom in this location!** Went for the novelty, probably won't return.

I've been here multiple times and have always had the most horrible experience with their customer service. It's always the same man who treats us rudly. We enjoy the food so we deal with it because we can't find vegan food at many places. He's often rude to other customers inside the restaurant, im not sure how come more people dont complain so we don't have to deal with this just to get food. The last time they made our breakfast sandwich that was supposed to have "sausage patty" but they decided to make it with a burger patty and hoped we wouldn't notice, when I went to ask about it he didn't care at all. I brought to his attention that the menu advertised "sausage patty" and then his excuse was they were "out". Maybe next time fix the menu so people aren't ordering 1 thing and getting another, we are thinking if we are going to go back after the last experience. He refused to take my order even though I didn't want to use the touch screen, he didn't call out food out when it was done, just let it sit there at the counter getting cold without knowing it was ready. Rude!

Front employee could use better customer service. Ordering a little confusing at first, they need better signage. Had a cheese burger that seemed it was smashed. Don't like the taste of the burger and nuggets. Only thing I and my family liked was the fries. They have a high rating? Not sure where that comes from.
